So let me start with the bathroom. It just makes me so happy to see such cool art, have my own music playing, and a small doll model of Beyonce in the bathroom. Totally worth it in itself. I haven’t been in a really long time and it looks like they totally redid the place. Or moved? It just is completely different than I remember it, though the bathroom remained the same(!) All waiters were super friendly, helpful, and attentive. The cocktails have fun, silly names – I had the Justin Cucumberland and it was delicious. The tables are beautifully designed to show musical artists’ faces and behind the bar there are 3 TVs playing top 40(and old top 40) music videos with the audio to accompany it. The disco fries were exactly as everyone builds them up to be. Get them. The pad thai was awesome(I had a few bites) and the salmon was a decent portion and really flavorful. We had to wait a few minutes for the table and there isn’t a lot of waiting space, but it really wasn’t long. Certainly worth going back to. The only thing is it is super pricey, so not the kind of place you can afford to go to on a regular basis.

Been here twice. I don’t recall what I had the first time. I think it was a pasta special. Second time was earlier this week. Dinner before a show. I ordered a turkey burger with pepper jack. It was SO good. The sangria special was also very delicious. My friend had the potato soup with tuna sliders. He loved it. We talked about the food and sangria a few after and look forward to our next visit.

Gays. We can get married everywhere now. We can join the military, if that’s a thing we might want to do. We’re in commercials for Ikea, Cheerios, Wells Fargo. Gay is everyday, no big whoop anymore. Except if you’re gay. I came here after Fun Home(So great! So gay!) and realized that there’s something deeply necessary and comforting about being in a space of your own. I’ve missed my people. And to find them in midtown – okay, Hell’s Kitchen– is one of the reasons I live in this city. Yes to the Beyonce and Michael bathrooms with the music of each respective artiste pumped in and appropriate shrines in their honor. Yes, to the menus cloaked in albums – The Cars, Streisand, Kiss – from my youth. Yes, to the mosaic tabletops of Elton John and his centuries musical ilk. Yes. And, oh, yeah, Yes to the food, well-priced, wide selection, good eats. It’s good to be gay.

They have Beyoncé in the women’s bathroom! Men’s has Michael Jackson. And the brunch/service were great. Thanks Mark :) No Reservations but it moves quickly and has a bustling bar. Enjoy!

Vynl used to be a 5-star spot in my world, but they seem to have moved in the past year or two and the new location kind of sucks. It’s one big open-air dining area now, which is super loud. The old location had a bar right up front, more whimsical interior and the food itself was better prepared.

This was the spot to be brunching on a recent Sunday afternoon. This place is TINY inside — you will get to know the people at the neighboring tables quickly, and larger parties should brunch elsewhere. Vynl’s theme is everywhere and in the details of this place — the tables have mosaics of various artists(I sat at the Amy Winehouse table), there is a Beyonce mosaic in the bathroom with Beyonce tunes playing, and vinyl record covers hold the menu pages and line the walls for decoration. Usually I worry that a «theme place» will only deliver on the theme and not on food, but Vynl proves this wrong. I enjoyed the omelette with spinach, mushrooms and cheddar cheese, which came with breakfast potatoes, a side salad and toast with jam. My mom tried the kale scrambled eggs special and enjoyed it as well. We didn’t have any cocktails, but they are also on theme with names like the Justin Cucumberlake and Spice Girl.

Fun ambiance. Good food. Waitress brought me the BLT instead of the TLT(tofu), but a breakfast place without milk alternatives? Come on now! Also, wait was too long when there are so many other restaurants… this was my first time dining here and if there was no wait, I would return.

Food is great, good variety for everyone. Not as cool as the old location. Hostess wasn’t very good at seating us, a party of 4. He kept giving away 2 tops rather than waiting for the next table to pay. I’ll still come back though because I’m a shady bitch who likes good cheap drinks.

I have been here quite a few times. The place offers a nice atmosphere and was renovated over the past two years. I have only been here for brunch/lunch and they have a nice selection of omelettes and other breakfast items. Can be quite crowded around brunch but if you have a small party you can often be seated quickly.

Solid brunch place, came here with a friend on Sunday around 11:30 and were seated within 5 minutes. Beware though it is very popular so if you have a larger party it will likely mean a longer wait. I had the Eggs Benny ham and my friend had the breakfast burrito. I thought the eggs benny was really decent eggs cooked to the right consistency though a tad on the runny side. The side potatoes were fresh and just the right amount of fried. Think whats more impressive is the décor. Each of the tables features some kind of pop reference and the walls are decorated with vinyls. Even the menu is made from vinyl covers.

I stopped here with a friend before a concert, located a few blocks from the Dailey Show and Terminal 5. The place was crowded but the waiter quickly seated us. He was pleasant & efficient, darting back and forth from the bar. We stopped here because they have a gluten free menu that my friend requires. That dedicated menu was small but workable. She got the grilled chicken and I ordered Pad Thai(which is made from rice noodles and GF tho not really a concern for me). The menu features an eclectic mix of salads, small plates, sandwiches, asian fare and all day breakfast. This place was designed as a hangover cure I’m convinced. There is a separate gluten free menu tho you may want to peruse the regular one first for other options. Both meals were tasty and brought up from the kitchen by a runner. Mine came with the hot red pepper relish on the side which is a nice option that I failed to heed. I stupidly emptied the whole thing into my plate but it was still quite good. The place featured lots of vinyl records on the wall as you would expect. They have a full bar and several tall frozen margaritas and daiquiris were delivered around us. The seating is a bit tight and the air was a lil too warm but I would definitely go back again and try some of there other menu items. The regular menu has several gluten rich comfort food items like Mac n Cheese & Meatloaf. I’d go back jus to watch someone eat the Elvis’ Revenge, made with peanut butter, bacon, banana and honey. Lastly, the table next to us had three rather large mozzarella sticks that caught my eye with the delicious scent of gluten.

Vynl is a Hell’s Kitchen mainstay. Although it has opened and closed 3 other locations in the city, and later moved next door to itself, it is always busy and never lets you down. The menu is eclectic, serving everything from Chicken Clubs to Pad Thai, from Cobb Salad to Tuna Sliders, from truffle mac to Fried Chicken and Waffles. While nothing is truly exceptional, they don’t aim to be the best meal you’ve ever had. On the contrary, they are a fun, neighborhood spot that’s upscale, always friendly, and open late(until 11AM on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, until midnight on Wednesday and Thursday, and until 1AM Friday and Saturday). They have a full bar and a fairly expansive drink menu that includes frozen margarita concoctions — like the carlos santana, which is similar to a sangria/margarita mix. If you’ve been to El Centro, Therapy, Barrage, Hell’s Kitchen(the restaurant next door), B-Side, or BSquared, then you know that you can’t go wrong at any of Chow Down NYC’s establishments.

I went to Vinyl on 11⁄7 after arriving to NYC. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and a side of mac and cheese. If mac and cheese is on the menu, I have to order it! The chicken sandwich was good. The chicken was a little dark which had me a little concerned especially since I’ve never seen dark chicken breast meat. The mac and cheese was just okay, it needed a little salt and pepper to give it some flavor. I was glad I tried this place instead of the regular chain restaurants in Times Square.

I had heard so much about their Truffle fries that it’s the 1st eatery I had to eat at on my trip to Hells Kitchen. This eating establishment looks like a Tower Records or Sam Goody had Chef Ramsey Kitchen nightmare do a record themed Restaurant makeover. Very Avant guard looking restaurant serving Comfort foods like Spaghetti and Meatloaf. I was here for the Truffle fries and they didn’t disappoint. My personal tour guide and I each had our own and I almost finished my mountain of fries. Very flavorful with the right amount of Truffle oil and cheese shavings. They went down easily with a Hefeweizen and they also offer wine and unique drink cocktails. I will definitely to try some more of their unique fare.

I had such good times here before the move, I kinda want to remember it like it closed for good… because the reopened spot is a sad imitation. The space itself is smaller and therefore ultra-crowded — and not the cute«we’re all close together so let’s vibe», it’s a «the diner in the table next to me just got her hair in my eggs» kind. Today’s experience was the last of many straws. Server with bright green frohawk would literally have rather been anywhere else than serving my party, so why did we wait 15 minutes to have to deal with him? Either he was snarking at us with a sour face or just ignoring us. The guy had to flag him down for a straw for the milkshake he slammed down. I asked for their breakfast burrito without the chorizo. Easy, right? What came out was dry scrambled eggs rolled in a tortilla, with a gob of cheese on one side, a spoonful of flavorleas beans on top, and tomatoes atop a side salad. What? So if the food is both prepared and served with no eye to quality, in an uncomfortable venue, why would I ever come back?

I had gone to their previous location before, which was much bigger. However, the new location is just as amazing. First off, the waiter we had on Sunday the 13th was AMAZING. He was so proactive when my friend ordered french fries to ask if there were OTHER sauces she might want to try. He was so friendly yet not in your face. He danced and sung. I wanted him to become my new best friend. We had so much fun together. I had the Britney Spears and Dolly Parton drinks, which were both just so delicious. Sadly, having eaten earlier, I just ordered the chocolate cake and the waiter flawlessly made it a la mode for me. The cake was decadent and rich. It was everything I wanted from chocolate. It is definitely one of my favourite chocolate cakes I have ever had now. I love that all the menus were actual originally vinyl record covers. All the tables were different artists album covers. Even the bathrooms are music themed(just check them out). It is a little pricey but what can you expect for that area? It’s definitely worth visiting!

This is dope! The music vids and very good food made my visit enjoyable. Unless you’re republican or conservative bible belt person then you would take offense to dining here. I came here with my Boo Boo and my friend for dinner. We were in Hell’s kitchen and wanted a god bite to eat. Unilocal lead us here or next door but we opted here. The funky tables and loud music sets this place apart. We did immediately notice the vibe but we didn’t care. We saw the food that people were enjoying so we stayed. Boo Boo got the soft shell crab sandwich special, I got the turkey meatloaf and mahattan clam chowder, and my friend got the seared tuna over noodles. Everything came out hot and quick. I didn’t get a spoon so I ate half my soup with my fork before our waiter apologetically gave me one. It was a busy Friday night so I didn’t think too much about it. I also enjoyed an Angry Orchard. They make lots of cocktail and limited beer menu. The bathroom is Michael or Beyonce. I waited 2 – 3 mins for Michael with another lady waiting as well. A guy comes out of Beyonce and I offered Beyonce to the lady but she said it doesn’t matter I could go before her. So, both rooms are sex neutral. The faucet has built in dryer so don’t freak out. The bathrooms were clean too! This place is loud. Good for filling your stomach with food before you partying all night long. Music vids we enjoyed were Shinia Twain ‘Man I feel like a woman’, Destiny Child’s Survivor, Shaggy’s ‘Angel’. I wonder that the restaurant would do or play if I came here for my birthday.

Shockingly, Vynl was way better than I had expected. I know I was here a million years ago for a cocktail but never for dinner. A group of us came in for someone’s birthday a few months ago. It’s a music theme if you can’t get it automatically by the title and flashy lights. Every menu has a different record cover which I really love. I appropriately was stuck with the Motown magic of the Jackson 5. Being more frugal, I didn’t order a drink that night from here but they have really clever names that will taunt me forever for not ordering one: Sir Elton John for example is made with gin and hard cider. Rosemary Clooney: vodka, grapefruit juice, and rosemary syrup. Lady Gaga: Bourbon, sweet vermouth, and cherry bitters. Prince? You guessed it, it involves some kind of raspberry purple theme. You get the idea and they are all $ 10, kind of reasonable for the area. My entrée was a burger cooked medium rare with gruyère cheese and a side of fries and it honestly was freaking phenomenal. Cooked perfectly, flavorful and juicy as hell. I sampled nearly everyone at my table’s dishes and I still thought my burger was the star of the show. Macaroni and Cheese: Kind of mediocre and bland. I’ve had way better. It’s elbows with a mixture of cheddar, jack, and goat with panko crumbles. A bit dry and maybe its the goat cheese that sets it off wrong or too much panko. Or an off day. Who knows. Gaining a 5 star macaroni rating from me is pretty tough. Their pad thai is the opposite however and a pretty successful tasty dish. Unique for diner food and they include a bit of heat set to the side to add as you wish. Grilled cheese was piled on a stack of fluffy sourdough. Can’t go wrong with that. Really generous portion sizes as well at a decent price. The menu has changed since I have last come I think a bit but if you are looking for a diner in the middle of the night and or seeking out a last drink, this is a quality spot.

I celebrated my birthday here and had a great time!!! This place was very small but it was so fun & different. To drink, I got the ‘Britney Spears’ which was delicious. For dinner, I got the curry which was also very good. We had a party of five, we had to wait for everyone to show up but had no problems getting seated once they did show up. They had a Beyonce & Michael Jackson bathroom as well which was very different. It was good experience with good service. I’ll definitely come back!

If you happen to be in Hell’s Kitchen and want to eat a delicious brunch with cool creative artwork on the tables and in the bathroom; I recommend you hit up Vynl. The service gets two thumbs way up(thank you Asu) and the food gets two thumbs and two big toes up! If you come here you should try –Huevo Antonio which is a pleasure to the taste buds. The mix of the egg, fried tortilla, chorizo, lettuce, and onions was delightful. –Bacon Frittata had a good amount of bacon and caramelized onions which I thoroughly enjoyed. –Home Fries were some of the best I’ve had in like EVER. I don’t know what voodoo the chef did in that kitchen to make these taste so damn good, but I hope he knows I appreciate it.

Love the ambience, great food, and strong drinks! I came at 10PM on a Friday and it was packed, but I’m not surprised because people seemed to be getting on their grub before going out for the night. Walls are covered in vinyls, tables are mosaics with popular artists/bands, and even the menus are the vinyl album covers. I ordered the nachos with chicken($ 14) which was huge and so, so good. Perfect mixture of black beans, chicken, cheese, guacamole, etc. My friend ordered the sesame chicken + broccoli — lots of breaded chicken breast, but a bit dry. We also ordered large margs, which were strong and delicious. Portion size might be hit or miss though, since the $ 10 thai chicken wings apparently only came with 5 wings, hahaha. Gay-friendly! tl;dr — order large margs($ 11) and opt for a salad or splitting an entrée if you don’t want to be too full before going out!
