While waiting in drive thru to get my food, I had time to download this app, and write a review… Lady was somewhat rude and sounded annoyed. Just got my food after about 15 minutes, fries are burnt and I’m afraid to open my burger…

You know how fast food burgers look on commercials? All perfect and drool inducing? And you know how you NEVER expect that at any real fast food joint because we all know it never happens.
Except for this one time. Now I have no idea if they do this all the time or if maybe it wasn’t the lunch rush and they weren’t slammed with bodies to feed but this Hardee’s location on Tidewater surprised the heck out of me.
After we ordered the Bacon and Grilled Cheese thick burger I figured we’d get a smooshed patty with overly melted cheese and maybe a tiny bit of bacon. Maybe the bread would be toasted. Maybe burnt. Maybe it would just be one huge sloppy mess and the burger paper wrapped around it would barely hold its messy contents.
I was so wrong on all accounts. Their execution was spot on. The burger was perfect. The bacon was glued into the perfectly melted cheese. The paper held everything in place and not a spot of grease on the outside from a sloppy burger cook. The bread, a thick texas toast, was slightly buttered and on the flat top just long enough to melt.
I’ve been to other Hardees (see: most recent review on Hardees in VB where any health inspector would shut them down because of the improper food handling) and Carl’s Jrs (West Coast) but this Hardees on Tidewater has got to be the best one I’ve ever been to. The burger was delicious and perfectly made.
I sure hope it wasn’t a fluke. I hope they actually take pride in the product they put out because it had to be the best looking fast food burger I have ever seen. Including the ones I have been to in Asia (where everything is like perfectly placed).
