I was excited to try this place because I heard it was amazing! However, I was very disappointed. I had the chili cheese dog, the bun was ice cold, the cheese was similar to cheez wiz, but with a very unpleasant flavor.(I was expecting shredded cheddar) The homemade chili was also barely warm. I ended up sliding the hotdog out and eating only the hotdog, which was not the best quality. A few ingredient upgrades and a warm bun would have made my review go much differently.

My Pysical therapist told me about this place and I was like«How good could a hot dog joint be?» ITISVERYGOODEATHEREASSOONASPOSSIBLE. The prices are affordable and the dogs are legit.

We were sad when Clay’s sold their spot, and we were cautious about trying the new place. Today was our second trip. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. I ordered the Chicago Dog and my friend ordered a bratwurst, both with the«Dirty» chips and drinks. The sesame seed bun for the Chi Dog was ice cold. The contents kept sliding out onto the wrapper. I tried stuffing it back inside the bun, to no avail. Got a knife and fork and took a bite of the dog. Super salty with no flavor. I’ve had better dogs at QT. My friend said his bratwurst had little flavor. We were both disappointed that the new owners, who are super nice, by the way, did not maintain the quality from before. We’ve given them two chances, but we won’t be coming back.

When Clay’s Curbside left, my heart sank. Where would I get those wonderful dogs from now? My prayers have been answered. NKC Dog is the worthy successor! The place has a new, sleeker, inviting look and is run by the nicest young couple who bought out the old owners. They have kept the same suppliers so that the dogs are as close to the Clay’s dogs as possible. There are two dogs they currently do not offer from the old menu, but they are working on it. The menu is even cleaned up and features a list of add on options which is very nice. This first trip in, I tried the Reuben dog. Loaded with pastrami, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing on the marble rye bun. Tasty as always. I’ll be back to try all my other favorites. Now a couple of noticeable changes. They now offer extended hours(being open later) which is a plus if you need a dinner dog fix. Another change is tax on purchases. Seems the old owners didn’t charge it. The new owners do charge it, but the amount is nominal for the quality of the food, the service they give, and they are just so damn nice to their patrons. NKC, worry not for our hot dog cravings are still taken care of!
