Alioto’s Gift Shop

This store is a little jewel, if you can’t find a gift there, then what you want doesn’t exist. Fine china, silver, ceramics, jewelry, bath soaps, handbags, etc. a treasure trove of beautiful things

Alioto’s is a fantastic store and never disappoints. They have an incredible selection, a friendly knowledgeable staff, excellent customer service and very competitive prices. My mother, a longtime customer, is the one who introduced me to the store and it is now the only place I go to buy gifts for weddings and other special occasions.
This past Mother’s Day my youngest sister suggested that my sisters and I purchase a set of beautiful colored glasses that my Mom had admired for years. We all agreed and then it was my job to go to Alioto’s to buy them. My schedule was hectic that week so I called over and they were great. They said they would set them aside and have them gift wrapped and ready to go when I came to pick them up and said I could just pay for them then. The whole experience was so easy and I was able to take care of everything in one phone call.
I also love how much easier the whole shopping experience is compared to Michigan Avenue or Oak Brook mall. No multi-​story parking garages to climb, tickets to validate here. Street Parking is pretty much always available (usually right in front of the store) and cost a few quarters, which you can’t beat.

Remember when people were cordial, informative and trusting? Still exists here. I made my first visit here to discuss a concern i had about Waterford candle sticks I received as gift from here. Never knew this place existed before. Sara was cordial in welcoming me, answered my concern (it matters what kind of candles you use and she had affordable and effective ones) and she offered to exchange them if I was not happy. When i did not have credit card, she wrote invoice for candles without question. We discussed many of her gift lines, all superior in quality, and I have to say I have not seen the likes of her collection of beautiful things in any shop in Chicago. Certainly no such collection in Bloomingdales or Nordstrom or Nieman Marcus. Make it your business to visit this shop for beautiful things for weddings or house gifts or Christmas or just to treat yourself!

I was looking for some nice discounted Vera Bradley accessories and found this place through their website. Unfortunately I wasn’t thrilled with their customer service skills or their prices.
Not once did they bother to greet me or the three other people who had come with me. Perhaps it was because we were all in our middle 20s. The reason I say this is because when older people came in the store they were so kind and respectful to them. They greeted them at the door, they showed them around, and when they purchased their item they were all appreciative. When I bought my item they didn’t say anything. They just took my cash.
Now I understand that I am young, but don’t feel that I should be treated any differently do to my age. I should be treated equally because in this economy you should be glad to get anyone walking into your store.
In the end they had the product I wanted and I purchased it because I had been looking for it for some time. If I hadn’t been searching for it for a while there is NO NO way I would have bought it from them.
So if your old then go have fun there, but if your young think twice because I didn’t enjoy being treated like an inconvenience.
