Good option to have nearby as Uptown Oakland continues to experience a gentrification renaissance of sorts. With the sudden influx of dot.com’s heading across the bay, restaurants and coffee establishments are starting to really take root in the area. Having a Thai option nearby is always a good thing and Davan delivers quite frequently with their revolving lunch menu as well as specialty items. They carry most of the standard Thai fare and I am a big fan of their chicken wings, which are very crunchy, even when doused with that tangy sweet tamarind sauce. The plates here have good sized portions and I usually order the Pad See Ew or sautéed pork/broccoli entrees. In addition, they also have brown rice available. Make sure you get here by 11:30 or else face the consequences of when a large party is taking seat, because it will take a while to order/get your food. Mind the mass of flies outside of the entrance. They have, unfortunately, taken up residence on this side of the block.

I liked this place as it was extremely spacious. If you’re having lunch or dinner with a big group, this place can accommodate you. And although their Thai food didn’t taste authentic to me(their pad thai was too saucy), it was still okay. They also forgot to add pineapple to my friend’s pineapple fried rice which was weird(and they fixed) but overall, I think they’re okay.

This is actually solid Thai place. I am not a big fan of Thai food, but I did enjoy the food here. The venue here is very spacious and there is plenty of seating! It was pretty quiet here on a weekday lunch as I came here for a business lunch and we purposely came before noon to beat the crowd. I ordered a Pad See You with chicken and it tasted pretty good! The chicken was pretty juicy and not dry like a lot of Thai places serve. My coworkers ordered various other noodles dishes and it seems that some of their lunch special mango dishes are quite popular as well. I believe this is a pretty good place for lunch if you’re ever in the area!

Ordered pad kee mao and it was the greasiest Thai food I’ve ever had, and I know Thai can be greasy. Ate it anyway because I was hungry and now I have food poisoning.

Food — Quite Average, I have eaten at better Thai places Service — Okay. They messed up my dish initially but they were nice enough to replace it. Price — Cheap for Oakland or in general. I went there for lunch with my co workers and it was crowded at that time. I heard they have good curries but I tried«pad broccoli» so it was just my dish which was not awesome. I might go there again to try«Curry»

My fave dish is there pad thai its really good others places makes there pad thai to dry not this place they make it just right. Dont Get me started in there bomb as chicken wangs nice and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside the way fried chicken wangs is suppose to be If you are every in the area try this place out!!!

Great Thai place if you’re in the area. The service is kind and attentive and the dishes are reasonably priced. The place is typically filled with people who work in the area around lunch time so it can get pretty busy but they still make your food in a reasonable amount of time. Parking is bad in this part of town and everything is metered but there are parking garages or outside parking lots nearby that you can consider. I’ve been here a few times and have tried the red curry, the pad kee mao, and the pad thai. All of them were very good. They also have daily specials that are listed on the board outside the restaurant. Can’t go wrong here!

Note: I’ve only taken out from here. I’ve tried 5 or 6 different dishes at Davan and all of them have been solid! Also tried the Thai Iced Tea(made with milk instead of cream) and it was very good(albeit a bit sweet). The service is also friendly when I come to pick up. Overall a solid lunch option.

I think I just had the most disgusting yellow curry I have ever had in my life. The chicken tasted bad and had a weird rubbery texture, the curry was flavorless like they watered it down, the squash wasn’t cooked, the potatoes were grainy, and the two green beans I had were ok. I am so bummed that I don’t have good Thai neat my work, I don’t think I could ever eat here again. If I do it will NOT be a curry. Advance warning!

I eat thai food often, I just moved to Oakland and I’m trying all the restaurants in the area. So far everything I’ve had in this area has been amazing EXCEPT for this place. Ordered Pad See Ew to go and if I could have I would have returned it. The noodles should have been brown and they were white, there was no flavor and there was pepper sprinkled on top?! WTH. Not authentic what so ever. Not good, not fresh. Not worth trying.

It took 30 mins to serve a chicken curry and the curry sucks. There is even weird smell in the water.

Standard, almost fast-food style thai food. Nothing to write home about, but great for a quick lunch. just be careful of the main lunch hour as they fill up quickly.

We came here yesterday for a quick lunch. Food was good, reasonable price, but I didn’t like the customer service ethic. I found them somewhat unfriendly. You want business from clients, learn proper customer service. Food: We ordered the Pla muk(bf’s favorite dish), chicken with fried ginger rice & bbq chicken with mango salad. The pla muk was perfect, wasn’t overwhelming yet flavorful and it goes very well together. The chicken with fried ginger rice, It was ok. nothing spectacular about this dish. the Soup that came with it was very bland. I wouldn’t order this platter again. My bf bbq chicken with mango salad, he liked the bbq chicken but he didn’t like how it comes with the mango salad. It did not go well together. If they had fried fish with mango salad, then it would go well together. Overall, we would come here again if we want thai food for lunch.

Delicious food!!! My favorite place to stop for lunch when visiting the Bay Area. I always order nam khao and kao piak noodle soup from their special chef board menu. Family owned restaurant with great service. Also, 19: Pad Thai and 22: Drunken noodles are really good.

I use to work close to this restaurant and went here at least once a week. Since my company moved to 12th Street I do not frequent this place as often. Decided to go yesterday and what a mistake. I was seated fairly promptly and given a menu and a glass of water. After waiting for 5 minutes someone finally took my order. After placing my order the long wait began for my food. 6 – 7 tables were seated after me and they all were served their food before me. I finally flagged someone down and asked about my order and they said they would check and within minutes the food came out. A whole 20 minutes after taking my order. It takes minutes literally for the kitchen to make the dishes. All I have to say is I will not be going back ever. They did apologize for the delay but I feel they are aware of who is seated and when they put in the order. Not very happy with this service. I will not be recommending this to anybody in my office or my friends to go to.

Come here for the first time the other day craving ka piak and I left completely satisfied. The chicken was not tough at all and their noodles were perfect. I had to get a ka piak Togo for my daughter and a pak ke mao for my boyfriend and they both finished their dishes. My boyfriend who usually doesn’t like ka piak was eating off my daughter’s plate. That’s how good it is! If I could I would add an extra star for the speedy service.

Awesome family owned restaurant! Fresh and tasty food! They’re nam kao, kao piek and chicken wings are delicious! They’re kao piek is a chicken noodle soup with handmade noodles made fresh everyday. Its the best kao piek in Oakland! Better than Champa Garden. I heard they might be doing happy hour soon.

Wish this place was better. Noodle soup was very underwhelming. A huge portion, but just very boring. Service was very slow at lunch. I would recommend trying a different restaurant in the area before coming here.

Really good Thai food is hard to come by nowadays… Or at least that’s how I feel. I had reservations about this place when my sis introduced me to this place, but I was quite impressed. We arrived right when it opened, so we were seated immediately. The server was very attentive and promptly brought us our menus and drinks. We ordered: Larb gai(appetizer) Prawn and red snapper special(me) Yellow curry and BBQ chicken(sis) Cucumber salad Larb gai I was not impressed with. It lacked that Thai flavor and it wasn’t made well. The prawn and red snapper special though… YUMMY! It was actually really good and they gave a good size portion. They were also generous with the red snapper and the prawns. The veggies were fresh and the green beans still had that crisp to it. The cucumber salad is really good here and they make it with big chunks rather than cut up really small. A side order is enough for 2 people. I didn’t try my sister’s dish, but she said it’s her usual order. I will definitely be coming back here. Extra info: –restaurant is spacious and has quite a bit of seating –the best seats are right at the window(I like to people watch) –i usually find parking on 19th or Webster, use Parkmobile app
