I love this place. It’s so Berkeley with the décor and paintings lining the wall available for purchase. Also the metal pieces of carved art hanging from the ceiling to the books lining the walls. Every part of this place is decorated with care and love. The bathroom is so clean and has 2 mirrors and a cute soap dispenser. It’s the little things in life. The owner is very friendly and even gave me a chai latte on the house! I thought this was so sweet. The chai was vegan, non-GMO, fair-trade & organic. Yep, I love all that. I really hope his business does well! Such a great coffee shop tucked away next to the Berkeley Self Realization Fellowship Temple. I was there early and decided to stop at this café first.

Good coffee, nice snacks and free wifi! Plus the amiable host and owner, Mike. Great art all over the place: cut outs by Bullwinkle, and rotating exhibits of other local artists. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. A real asset to the neighborhood. Near the corner of 66th and Shattuck.

Cute atmosphere, but the service and selection isn’t the best. They are often out of things on the menu when I’ve been there… And once when I asked for honey to go with my tea the owner went on this long rant about how he can’t afford honey

This coffee shop embodies everything you could want from a neighborhood coffee shop — welcoming staff, comfortable atmosphere, and of course, a great cup of coffee.

A very special neighborhood spot. The owner is a local treasure-very friendly and helpful-, there is lots of beautiful inspiring Mark Bulwinkle sculpture all over the place. O and the coffee is most excellent and treats are treats, yum.

One of the little treasures on Shattuck mostly frequented by locals. Mike is the owner and normally the guy who will make your coffee/beverage. He is also one of best parts of Jump’n Java, he has a great personality and wants to be sure you’re happy and at home. His prices are fair, the service is good, the space is inviting and even inspiring with all of the artwork it has. Its coffee beans from Michael McLauglin roasters in Emeryville are the beans I buy and have enjoyed for awhile now. McLaughlin was the first roaster since Peet’s to provide an acceptable blend for the restaurant to use. Jumpin’ Java sells it today, and I still buy it for my household use. Or, if you are buying a cup of coffee to drink on the way, buy it there. It is excellent quality and you will be supporting an anchor of the neighborhood. To sum up: Mike and Jumpin’ Java have been good citizens for our neighborhood for more than a decade. In addition, he has brought what is in my opinion the best coffee to the neighborhood.

My husband got me a Caramel Macchiato to go and it was delicious! I went back the next day and was greeted by the owner Mike, a friendly guy who is really down to earth. Reasonable priced great coffee and nice owner operated establishment make this place a winner!

Coffee OK. Music too loud and all over the place. Not the ideal place to go to get something done on your laptop. Bathroom did not have soap or paper towels.

When we went in it was pretty empty and there were lots of empty tables. My friends got coffee and thought it was bitter and didnt taste good. I got steamed almond milk, which was fine. The store keeper was enthusiastic, brewing a fresh pot of coffee when we came in, but I dont think I would come back again, unfortunately; I wasn’t a huge fan of the vibe of the café.

Drinks are pretty affordable for college life in comparison to cafes closer to campus. My only complaint is that the music is so loud here. Everyone in the café has laptops open and is clearly either studying and reading. The music is so loud that it’s difficult to concentrate on what I’m doing.

I love this coffee shop’s atmosphere. It’s so chill. The music is definitely not too loud. I don’t even recall what was playing. So that goes to show if you want to work, it will all just seem like ambient noise. We ordered a coffee and a slice of zucchini bread. The bakery items come from a trusted vendor and I can vouch for them! I thought it was really good. Highly recommended for your coffee fix, a quick snack, or a place to focus.

I prefer this lovely café on Shattuck over the other coffee establishments on the same block. Walk just half a sunny block over and it’ll be a much better environment and quality of beverage. SUNNY, FRIENDLY, GREATCOFFEE. There is WIFI, and no limit on card transactions for the many tons of us who don’t carry cash. The owner is outstanding and welcoming. He is, by far… one of the friendliest faces I’ve encountered in the community. I went to Nomad last time I was on the same block I experienced a lot of attitude and their coffee nearly burned a hole in my stomach. So, I hesitated on returning. I decided to venture down the block and I’m glad I found Jump’n Java. I found my oasis on Shattuck. 5 Stars!

Kind of creepy ambience. The music made me feel uncomfortable and they had zero solid food available. Otherwise I’d have stayed for lunch. As it was I had a tea and skedaddled.
