It meets my needs. I can walk here and get a coffee or tea and work with free wifi.

Nice sunny little spot with organic coffee, pastries, bagels, juices, deli sandwiches. Wifi. Very friendly staff. A bit limited menu selection as far as sandwiches go but they have all the basics covered. I like to stop in for the breakfast items on my way to work. That’s the better bet here.

When we lived nearby my husband and I would I go here all the time. It’s run by a lovely family. The coffee is good and the Vietnamese sandwiches and breakfast bagels are superb. We still make detours for them.

I’ve been visiting dat for my breakfast sandwiches and coffee for a while now. Always great service and delicious food. I suggest the Vietnamese pork chop sandwich if you’re looking for something new. Has cilantro, carrots, and jalapeños in it, delicious

Great place! Good coffee, fast service, fast internet, and friendly staff :) I got the spicy chicken bahn mi and it was excellent! Bread super soft and tasty, fresh veggies, and moist, tender spicy chicken! Will be coming back here for more afternoon study sessions for sure!

I rarely go to cafes, and even more rarely do I stay and hang out at one. But I really like this place, and I’ve found myself hanging out there on a few occasions. There’s always people hanging out enjoying coffee, snacks and some reading material, but somehow there’s always an extra seat available, and somehow it always seems to be nice and quiet, which I really appreciate. Nice sunny exposure; nice staff; good coffee(both hot and iced) and the Vietnamese sandwich I had was better than average. Plus, they have all kinds of newspapers, local flyers and brochures for local activities/resources etc. I feel lucky to live near this place.

Good food, good coffee, good people. A solidly good café, and the best in walking distance of my house for sure. Ambiance could be improved slightly inside, and it’s often too warm, but that’s minor.

Although this establishment has been robbed by african americans a couple of times, doesnt mean that all african americans will rob them. Ive gone here a few times hoping and wishing that each time, the owner(asian guy) would treat me a lil differently each time. He is not the friendliest. Im a young african american woman who grew up in this neighborhood. I knew the lady whom owned the Thrift shop before they converted the building to the café years ago. I refuse to patronize this place any longer due to the obvious judgment looked upon me every time I come in with sweats on or dressed up with my afro… it doesnt matter. He makes me feel very unwelcomed every time… WHY? Because I dont belong in the neighborhood and why am I there? This neighborhood ised to be predominantly black.

This place is run like a well oiled machine, but is relaxed enough to hang out in. Good place to study. My stop for coffee every morning because they are quick with orders, and have good food. Love the bagels. They can make a mean mocha. Love it.

The iced coffee and fast internet with pretty people and big windows makes for happy working conditions for the entrepreneur. Please visit here, the family who runs it is very nice. Prices are reasonable for the area

I heard them cutting my fresh cherry tomatoes and cucumbers for my salad — not taking them out of the fridge. The Chicken Curry sandwich was to die for, and the iced coffee was freshly brewed. The food is so good here, the wifi is strong, and the windows are floor-to-ceiling. It’s a beautiful little spot to chill at. They have lots of different sandwiches, a little Vietnamese-inspired, as well as great coffee, tea, smoothies, and breakfast. Highly recommend!

I just got a regular coffee and on my way out the door I spilled my coffee, I turned around to replace my coffee but the worker did not allow me to replace it so I ask for the manager and he refused to replace it I said it’s just a cup of coffee really you’re not going to replace my coffee I just spilled I thought it was customary to refill drinks if they got spilt well not at the Nomad café they are above refills its all about money and customer service should be an important part of a business!!! well they lost my business I’ll go to jumpin Java down the street PEACE

the chai latte is nothing but milk and little bit spice. But that’s ok. What is not ok is the middle age guy at the counter was super rude. When I asked for wifi code and the bathroom key he was unhappy and knocking at the counter with his finger nail. Loudly.

Super Oakland community vibe without the pretension or hoopla. Seats and tables with lots of power outlets. Very sunny and nice sidewalk sitting area.(Can get warm inside) Friendly service and clean bathroom. Fast WiFi and good selection of snacks and juices available. Also heard some people ordering Banh Mi sandwiches.

What I ate: Egg, cheese & avocado on a croissant; iced soy chai Visit date: August 9, 2014 First time? Yes. I was double disappointed, but what can you do. The egg, cheese, and avocado croissant was super greasy; I could barely eat half of it and I only ate it because it was my breakfast. Then, to wash it down, I tried drinking their chai, which the worker said people love. I was not pleased; the chai was horribly sweet. It tasted like liquified cinnamon candy. I suppose if you’re into cinnamon candy, this would be your cup of tea. I threw mine away. Aside from the two menu items I ordered, Nomad Café seems like it would be a fun place to hang out. There are games, plenty of seats, a place to pick up info on local events, good lighting…

Nomad is cramped and crowded even on weekdays, and it’s hard to find a place to sit. Even harder to find a place to plug in. And it smells like bathroom, which may be due to the fact that the bathroom is located smack in the middle of the seating area(peeeee-ew). It sucks to have to plunge your face into your coffee cup while reading just to avoid the stench. The space isn’t much to talk about; there’s no real ambiance, although the glass windows are nice. As opposed to the other kind of windows. No, as opposed to cafes where you can’t see outside. Thing is, I’d rather go someplace without windows where I can actually a) get a seat, and b) breathe. Side note for those who do not understand the concept of a café: While it is a public space, it’s RUDE to have loud conversations on your cellphone. It’s similarly rude to start loudly rapping to a captive audience that doesn’t want to hear you. M’kay?
