Sure enough, it seems this place has closed. I was just there a like a month ago and it was full. Today we walked up to the door and found it locked and all the chairs are up on the tables; it’s still all decorated. A pile of mail is sitting on the floor inside the door. There is no note on the door to give a hint as to what happened. Looking at the updates below its been a month or so… What a bummer, I really love fish n chips and this place was really good. Hopefully the owners are ok, they seemed like nice people. The search continues…

Thank you Unilocal for showing me the light. Ever since going to vegas and having fish and chips for the first time, I’ve been on a life long search for the tastiest fish and chips in O.C. Alas, I found OC Fish n Chips. Many other places are prices cheaper or even priced twice as much, but none have been able to match the taste and texture of OC Fish and Chip. The combo options are great and I always opt for fish and mozzarella. I occasionally get the clam chowder on cold nights and it makes me wonder why I dont come here more often when I do. From what I order, there has never been a time where I walked out unsatisfied. My only gripe is they only have ketchup, bbq sauce, and tartar sauce. I would like them to offer ranch and other varieties to go along with their fried appetizers.

Better than I expected. Good value for the money. The only thing is that the vibe is a bit off… I don’t know what is but nevertheless, if you like fried food, come visit it. BTW, maybe it’s just me but I thought that the oil used was very fresh so the fried food came with a really clean taste.

Why haven’t I came here sooner! Great, low prices with a menu full of variety to satisfy just about anybody. I like the option to choose your own side with your fish. I dig the mozarella sticks and jalapeño poppers. I’m full off of $ 3(one fish, one side). The fish isn’t the best but it maintains it’s crispiness for awhile and the fish itself is delicate. I decided to try the clam chowder and I really enjoyed that too. It was warm and not watered down at all. When i go back, and I definitely will, I cannot wait to try the shrimp, other fried sides such as the zucchini and sweet potato fries, fried clams, and of course the fried desserts. oreos and snickers! Lastly, it’s super clean, friendly service, and has a condiments bar. If they had ranch, that might make things a littttttle better. Regardless, I still enjoyed my cheap and delicious dinner.

Most English and Aussies would agree it is hard to find decent fish & chips in America. When you think of California, you think hot fashion, great weather, and ocean life; yet, it is incredibly hard to find a decent order of fish & chips. Luckily, in one of the most unlikely of cities, Tustin, you’ll find a place where the fry is running all day and the smiles are popping with every meal. That place is OC Fish N Chips. Deco: 5 stars For a place where the menu is almost entirely made up of fried food, the interior is absolutely spotless. The ceiling is composed of high gloss wood panels. The lamps are sleek stainless steel sources of yellow illumination. The walls are filled with huge framed posters and art pieces that add character to the restaurant without making it too tacky. And the best part? No face punching odor of fried food in the atmosphere. Yes, you can most definitely smell and hear frying taking place, but the place is well ventilated, meaning you won’t step out of this restaurant smelling like fried cod. The menu is placed next to the counter, framed on the wall and easily organized to maximize your view. It is a simple menu, stating combinations of plates, what sides they have, and other options aside from fish and chips. It’s a clean and stylish way of informing diners what their options are. A style you would most likely see in high end bistros and steak houses. Service: N/A As this place is a walk and order type of joint, there isn’t much to go as far as table service. The condiments are placed near the counter you order. Each table has it’s own pop up napkin dispenser, and for the most part, the tables are meant for parties of 2 — 4, as opposed to large parties. It’s convenient and the lack of wait staff means more money for food and less for tipping. Price: 5 stars The prices here are absolutely cheap. They have many deals where you get a good quantity of food for around $ 5. This makes it sound like the quality of the food might be compromised but it isn’t. If anything, the pricing makes the quality of the food that much better because after you start eating, you’ll start wondering if they’re making any money here. For anyone hungry and low on cash, this place has got you covered. Food: 4 stars If there was ever a place I could proudly state I’ve had a great fish & chips in America, this place would be it. Though the size of each fish filet isn’t as big as the ones you’d receive in England or Australia, the quality is still there. Each fish is light, crisp, and mouth wateringly moist. The chips are of a medium thickness and come out crispy, which is excellent for fresh ketchup or BBQ sauce. For a few dollars more, you can add another fish to your basket and the argument of not enough fish will easily be erased. However, perhaps the most convincing character of quality has to do with the way they make your order. The food you receive isn’t simply something created from the detritus left under a wilting hot lamp. Instead, they do not create your meal until you order. This equates to piping hot food, a guaranteed of crispy fries, and satisfied taste buds as you let the steam of victory flow out your mouth. Fried food is good. Freshly fried food is majestic. Conclusion As stated previously, it is incredibly difficult to find quality fish & chips in America. Just the thought of great fish & chips insinuates a location near the beach, high prices, and huge lines. Yet, the formula has been broken by OC Fish N Chips, and we’re all the better for it. Quality no longer equates expensive or compromise. In a time where getting the most out of your dollar is essential, it’s great to know you can still get a great, inexpensive meal.

Fish and chip, a dish that is really a hit or miss. I am the type who prefers it to be flaky and moist rather than dry and stringy. So with that in mind, this is definitely the place to go. Been here twice, and both times the fish is fantastic! I see the place quite often, but would never have thought to go try it out until my friend said it has pretty good reviews. Thanks again Unilocalers for guiding us to a little place like this. So let’s start. I ordered the fish and chip, and they give you large strips of fish, huge! I’m not sure if this is what they usually do, but I got an extra piece yay! hehe It comes out hot and crispy. The fish was fried in just the right amount of batter, light but can still hold the fish together so it didn’t crumble with every bite. Fried just right, golden in color almost gleaming. hehe So good! The biggest thing was the fish. No fishy taste. It was very moist and well seasoned. The whole thing went splendidly with their tartar sauce. yummy. Another thing was their fried shrimp. These were ginormous! It seems like they took a jumbo shrimp, sliced it in half, flattened it out, then fried the whole thing. It really did look like two shrimps attached together and fried, they were that big!(sidenote: did you hear on the news about how fancy restaurants meat glue their steak to get those perfect round thick beef cuts? ewww) Anyways, these shrimps were very tasty, not bland at all. wow I can totally eat it every day… too bad they give you high cholesterol sad =(. What else… there was the shrimp po boy. Did not try it, but it looked delicious. The tiny shrimps drenched in the mayo sauce and sprinkled with cabbage. That is a must try next time I come back. The place itself is sort of small, there are seats but during their busy hours you might not be able to get seats. But if you do order to go, they box up your food and is very convenient on the go. I did that the second time, drove home about 15 minutes and the food was still as crispy and warm. So if you have a hankering for some fried seafood, this is the place to check out.

Great fish and chips place. Very similar to The Chippy in Irvine. I got the Fish Basket Special which includes 2 large pieces of fish, fries, cole slaw and a soda. All this for 7 bucks. The fish was deep fried to order and was not greasy at all. I’m not sure why this place was so quiet at lunch time. If you have a craving for fish and chips, definitely come here to fill it.

Had lunch here with my parents today. There was one person cooking and one person working the register. There were about six people waiting for their food and a couple more people in line behind us. I could hear people complaining that they had been waiting forever and wanted to know what was taking so long. Ordered our food, my dad tried to pay with a card(their window has credit card stickers on it) and the girl wanted cash instead. My dad said«You can’t take this card?» and she said«If you have cash I would like that.» My dad is too nice so he gave her cash. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. We ordered the family deal that came with fish, two sides and coleslaw. We wanted to order some shrimp on the side without another side. We were told we could not order just shrimp, we needed to get another side. So we ended up with three sides, zucchini, fries, and hush puppies. Everything was SUPER greasy and the batter was flavorless. The fries were cold and soft. The fish was way too heavy. The shrimp was the best item we ordered. The tarter sauce sucked. The cocktail sauce was watery and had way too much horseradish in it. I know my boyfriend wants to try this place, so I will give it another shot sometime. Stick to the shrimp, maybe try the chicken. Perhaps today was an off day since they were clearly understaffed.

Fried Oysters, Fried Oysters, Fried Oysters! Attention all fried oysters luvers, you must try OC Fish n Chip! There are many restaurants that offer fish & chips; however, there are only a few places that serve scrumptious fried oysters with a reasonable price tag. OC Fish n Chip is a fried oysters luvers gem! While in the area, I suggested to hubby that we stop by the restaurant so that I could sample the fried oysters at OC Fish n Chip. The casual, order at the counter restaurant is on the small side, has tables, is clean, and nicely decorated. The menu consists of mostly fried items such as fried fish fillets, shrimp, oysters, chicken strips, scallops, calamari, and clam strips. Right now, they are offering soft shell crabs. They also offer shrimp & oyster po boy, chicken sandwiches, and clam chowder soup. The side choices includes fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, fried zucchinis, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, hush puppies, and coleslaw. The restaurant has a self serve area with various dipping sauces(i.e. vinegar, bbq sauce, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, ketchup) and they offered behind the counter tartar sauce. We arrived at the restaurant and it was pretty full at about 1:00 pm. My to-go order was: (1) 8 Pcs of Fried Oysters with 1 Side — $ 8.50 I ate my to-go order in the car because everything was fried and had to be eaten while crispy. I started with a fried oyster and I used the vinegar as my dipping sauce. My fried oyster was huge, fresh, lightly battered, and not greasy … yummy-licious! Although my oysters could had used a lil more seasoning, they were still damn tasty. My choice of side were the fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were«A-OK». OC Fish n Chip offers a variety of entrees and sides, reasonable prices, friendly service, and a very casual atmosphere. I will definitely return to the restaurant for their fried oysters and to try their other menu items. 4 Stars!

Came here today to eat fish! My sister and I ordered Combo E which consisted of 1 fish, 2 jumbo shrimps, calamari rings, & clam strips. It also comes with one side and we ordered the cole slaw. I was kind of disappointed in the fish because it was kinda small and a little bit flavorless. I had to dip a lot of tartar sauce but it was still okay. The rest was delicious! I especially loved the JUMBO shrimps and boy were the JUMBO!!! The slaw was okay also. I would’ve gotten something else but I need some greens if I was going to eat fried foods! My friend ordered the Po Boy Shrimp Sandwich, which was awesome! If you love shrimp and mayonnaise, this is definitely the sandwich for you! This place is kind of small so if you come during rush hour, plan on ordering take out. There is very limited seating. Very busy and service is a bit slow too. It took about 20 minutes to get our food:( There is a bright green sign that says«DONTTHROWTHEBASKETSAWAY!» I saw the sign but did not read it and assumed the sign says to put the trays there. I threw the basket away! Sorrrrry!!! But apparently I was not the only dummy ;) I will come back maybe in a month or so. I feel like a couch potato as I am wiring this review. FRIEDFOOD!!! You kicked my bootie!

I wish I lived closer to this place because I would be there ALL the dang time! We came here early in the evening, maybe like 4:30PM. We were the only folks there for about 2.5 seconds. There was a decently flow of people until we left. The décor was cute. It’s put together in small themed areas almost. The big screen TV was nice, even if it was only playing the news while we were in. The food for the price here is really unbeatable. It’s quality yummy food for practically fast food prices. My husband had the 4 piece fish with a side(jalapeño poppers) and I had the OC fish sandwich with a side(sweet potato fries). My husband said his food was great. Mine was off the hook! The sandwich was so good. The fish was just right with the perfect amount of slaw and sauce on a grilled bun. The sweet potato fries… OMG heaven on my plate! They had the fried crispy crunch but were still soft but not mushy. I wish I would have had room for one of their desserts. Their menu had things like fried ice cream, fried twinkies and oreos. Hopefully next time!

I give this a 3.5. They earn a star for… actually two stars for their fried ice cream. Amazing! A star for their fish, a bit on the oily side but very delicious. And another .5 for overall experience. Unfortunately, Minus one star for the bacon fries. I was expecting actual bacon but it was merely seasoning. And another star missing because we found a gnat INSIDE the vinegar bottle at our table. We brought the bottle back to the server to have them put it away. We noticed most of the bottles did not have caps on them. That’s a bit of a risk. Even though convenient for us to use, you leave a prolong exposure to other things a little less sanitary. Good thing we spotted it ahead of time before pouring the vinegar. OTHERTHANTHAT, not a bad experience. If you’re in the mood for a lot of fried food, including their fried desserts, fries, and fish, this is a pretty good place to stop by. The prices are good and the food is prompt. Just check your condiments before diving right in.

(More of a 3.75) The boyfriend and I went here last night after a quick stop in Orange. Craving some fish and chips but not looking forward to paying the normally outrageous price, we quickly found OC Fish N Chip on East Meats and Tustin Ave near the 55 freeway. Prices were very reasonable: I paid about $ 7 for Combo A — one piece of fish, one large shrimp(that doesn’t feel right typing that out), and one side. I went for an order of sweet potato fries. My boyfriend decided on Combo D I believe, which is two pieces of fish, one piece of chicken, and steak fries(chips). His order was about $ 9 I think, but he also ordered a drink. Overall we were both pretty pleased with the service, quality of food, and cleanliness of the restaurant. They just opened in April so I don’t know if this place gets a lot of customers, and since we came in at 8:30, the place was pretty empty(they close at 9:00 weeknights). I probably wouldn’t order the shrimp again since it was totally breaded, making it too dry for my taste. The fish, however, had that right amount of crisp to it, and it wasn’t too oily. The place doesn’t compete with the Old Ship in Santa Ana, but for a quick stop fish and chips place, it’s got my vote. Too bad it’s a little out of the way for us.

WOWTHISPLACEISAMAZING. This is the best Fish &Chips place I’ve EVER been to. THEYHAVETHEMOSTAMAZINGCRUNCHINESS for everything! The fish, shrimp and chicken(yes I’ve tasted it all) ANDBESTOFALLTHEBESTONIONRINGSEVER! The menu is has a wide variety of seafood combos and«other» combo, meaning something other than seafood. I love the sides and other things you can order. When you order the Chips or also known as steak fries, ask for«Where’s the Bacon?» and your chips get delicious bacon salt on it. There are plenty of other sides like mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, hush puppies etc. ALSO! Who needs to wait for the OC Fair for some forbidden fried goodness? They also offer your choice of Fried Oreos, twinkie, ice cream… there’s a few more choices, but these are the ones i’ve tasted. I really highly recommend this place. The owners have been in the Fish & Chip business for YEARS!!! and just opened this new place with new and improved delicious friedness. I already can’t wait for the next time I go. ^_^

Walk into a new spot, you want to try a little of everything. I ordered: — 2pc Fish + 1 side(Jalapeño Poppers) $ 5 — Clam Strips(8oz) + 1 side(Fried Mushrooms) $ 6 — Clam Chowder $ 5 — Extra medium drink $ 1.50 The fish and chips were pretty good. I’d definitely go back if it weren’t a 30mi one way drive. The clam strips were pretty damn good too. Some other fish and chip places charge about $ 4 for half as much, even then its mostly breading. I think this was my favorite item here. If you like clams, and fried stuff, then get this. The jalapeño poppers were just ok. Cream cheese, jalapeño, and breading. Not anything to really write home about. Yeah, sure, they are made fresh… I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they bought from Albertson’s. The Clam Chowder was probably my biggest disappointment. I’ve a better from a can. … … … Fried mushrooms. Its nothing spectacular. I wouldn’t order it again. Since I ate with friends, I got try a few other things. Fried Oysters. These were pretty good too. If I remember correctly an order comes with about 6pcs? More or less. For one person that is way too many. Shit, for 3 people it was a bit much. Hushpuppies… I didn’t have a chance to eat these fresh from the fryer. Having them as a midnight snack wasn’t bad at all. Fried Zucchini. Like the mushrooms, how much differently can you fry it? They were good. Nothing really surprised me . All in all, I’d go again the next next NEXT time I visit my friends that live close by. I wish I could say that I’d go every time, but this fried awesome-ness is pretty oily. Oh, one more thing that I didn’t like. If this place ever gets busy, there’s going to be a lot of people standing. I’d imagine that the maximum occupancy is less than 30. On top of that, whoever thought it was a good idea to make the«waiting area» take just as much room as the dining area is probably not the sharpest pencil in the box. *shrugs* One item that I’ll be getting the next time I come in is the Oyster Po Boy Sandwich. Last thing, hopefully someone reads this part. While I was there, I was looking on Unilocal for this place hoping to be the first to review. Since one of the workers was obvisiously eavesdropping… …she brought over 2 deserts for free, because we’re Unilocalers. A fried twinkie and a fried oreo.

Came here for lunch yesterday and thought it was decent. I tried the oyster po-boy sandwich which came with one side(I had the sweet potato fries, which were great). The sandwich comes with cole slaw on it, then a bunch of giant fried oysters. I thought it was fine. My friend had one piece of battered fish, one large shrimp and one side and he said it was okay too, but his portion was a little small(go with at least 2 pieces of fish or something if you’re really hungry). I guess my overall opinion is that it was fine for a quick lunch, but I probably wouldn’t want it for dinner. The place is VERY small though, so if you don’t get there early enough for lunch, you should plan on getting it to go(just a few tiny tables and a small area for bar seating). We got there around noon and shortly after the line got really long, so we were lucky to grab a table. Also, the restaurant was clean and the staff was nice too.

Yes, I know I know its too soon for an update but I just had to. I went back for lunch today. My agenda: The Fried Calamari. I had a foodgasm. The batter was so very delicate and light. I didn’t even need tartar sauce or lemon or coctail sauce with it. After my yummy lunch, I had a chance to talk to one of the owners, David. This is how the conversation went: Me: OMG, your batter on the calamari is amazing! Its the lightest and least geasy I’ve ever tried. It didn’t even need any sauce to help it out. David: Actually, we don’t batter the calamari. We flash fry it at a very high temperature and for a very short period of time and the crunch bubbling you get on the texture is because of that. Me: O_O You’re serious. David: /nod. It’s good huh. Me: Wow. Just… wow. As a side note, I tried the Jalapeño poppers as a side dish. They were good too. A little cheesier actually than most poppers I’ve tried. But the star dish was most definately the Calamari. Side note #2. They have a fun little TV Lounge where you can wait for your food if you ordered to-go and watch TV on a plasma. Swanky.

Lots of $ 5.00 specials right now. Chicken of Fish. I know it a Fish N Chips but I like chicken. Everything is hand dipped and made to order. Including to friend snickers and Twinkies which I passed on, but they are only $ 2.00. So heres the deal, you pick your dish… Chicken, fish or shrimp then your side. Lots of choices, fries, hush puppies, Mozerella sticks, fried mushrooms, zucchini… ect. Chicken batter is not greasy at all. Loved it. Husband ordered the fish and he said it was good. I believe him. The only thing is no whinning allowed… they have a sign in the corner
