When Thomas Hill first opened… it was one of my favorite restaurants in the Central Coast… though, it has truly gone downhill. The service used to be exceptional, though now is poor… and the food/presentation used to be phenomenal, though now is a let down. I came in about a month ago for lunch… and the salad I ordered was of terrible quality/much less sparse than usual(and I am not a large eater by any means). The waitress(Christine) was beyond cold and rude as well! She responded with attitude and condemnation when asked simple questions. I decided to give Thomas Hill a second chance again last week, and once again… the service was terrible(I received the same waitress Christine again lol) and the bun of my burger was completely burnt! In addition to being burnt, there was only about 1⁄3 cup of seaweed salad inside(which I ate in 1 bite!). I ended up throwing an $ 18 meal in the trash! Such a let down. I truly hope the Thomas Hill I once fell in love with will make a come back someday… though for now, I will not be returning.

We came here for lunch on a Monday. We were greeted and seated right away in the outside patio. The ambiance is great. The service was great and the food was good. Nothing exceptional. We had a burger and cheese and our bill was $ 35, a little over priced. We would have given it 5 stars but we feel their menu needs more options.

Food was good. Service was mediocre to bad. We were seated and food came out more than an hour later after I brought it up to their attention. The explanation was that the chicken dish I ordered takes more time to be properly prepared. Probably if the chicken were alive when I ordered. The couple next to our table walked out after waiting for approximately 20minutes without anyone of the servers to approach them. We needed up not having desserts just because we didn’t want to risk waiting for an extra hour.

More of a 3.5 rating. Good ambience with nice heated patio seating, good service. We came here for dinner. We liked the potato soup and soft tacos the best. Rest of the food was ok. We tried all the veg salads. We are vegetarian. Overall very pricey for the portion size. This place is highly recommended. Would not repeat though.

Food was good. The service and treatment was poor. Very pretentious. Service people weren’t real. It’s like they had a scripted approach that when asked an off-topic question, they didn’t know what to say. Service was so slow. I called it to their attention and they said the fixed it. No apology. No recognition. And no more of my business.

We came for industry night(Monday) in order to take advantage of their burgers, dollar drafts and half-priced wines. What a great bargain. I had the vegetable burger and it was so inventive. It had layers of mushrooms and avocado and sea weed –it was addictive. We also really enjoyed the olive oil cake — it doesn’t sound exciting, but let me tell you it absolutely delivers. The service is professional and they have a lovely patio.

This place is a little overrated… I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. For an appetizer, we ordered the sriracha wings. They were okay. it definitely didn’t have enough sriracha in it — I could barely taste the sriracha flavor. I ordered the scallops: $ 36 for 3 scallops. While they were cooked perfectly, they were a little too salty(and I love salty!). I really wanted a crème brûlée, but was told it didn’t taste like your average crème brûlée since I believe it was gluten free, so I settled for the chocolate cake mousse thing, which was just okay. definitely more of a mousse texture than cake texture.

Excellent lunch bistro with a wine tasting upfront. Great friendly service. We had a winery appointment right after lunch and wanted to order and eat in 45 min. Our waitress was proactive in every way, always smiling, offered ways to ensure we could eat a great meal and leave on time without feeling harried. The best choice was the Cattle burger. The lentil tacos are a good creative vegetarian choice. Yes I did order vegetarian!

I glazed over this place on Unilocal twice. It was one of those places that seemed to be a good option compared to other restaurants in Paso Robles. I’m so glad I chose to dine here for a few reasons: exceptional customer service(the waitress modified my order so it would be even better than what I expected), the food tasted delicious and fresh(who knew avocados could taste good in January), and the setting is serene and calm. I dined here for lunch and ate the avocado toast with organic(yes, organic) bottled still water. My avo toast was served on Udi’s gluten free bread, and the avos were heaping all over the bread. I felt so full after eating the two slices! I will definitely come back and order more avo toast! It was so good!

What a gem, stopped in randomly while on a trip and I’m so glad I did. I had the Avo Toast as a late breakfast snack and it was delicious with the garlic aioli. I was able to add a scrambled egg to it which made it even more of delight. I can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I are relatively new to the Central Coast. In the year that we have lived in the Paso area, we have tried to explore and experiment with many of the local businesses. To this point, Thomas Hill Organics ranks near the top of our list. We’ve made it a habit to visit on Monday nights. It is on these occasions that draft beers are half priced and that burgers are added to the menu. There has yet to be an evening that we didn’t walk,(or stumble) away pleased. Service here is well above average. Our food is always served promptly and the overall warmth of the environment is refreshing. Unfortunately this is not something I can mention about most of the downtown eateries and tasting rooms. I highly recommend everyone to indulge in a Monday evening at Thomas Hill. Top off your meal with their decadent caramel custard desert! It is well worth a night out.

Sunday evening, no reservations. My parents walked in at around 5:15pm; shortly after they opened for dinner. Fortunately there were not many people, so we were able to snag seats near the front door. It seemed like it was one of those places that’s practically impossible to dine at without making reservations. When entering, the restaurant seems really small, but the majority of the restaurant is past the hostess stand. Service was slow, but it was understandable. Our server told us ahead of time that the bartender was not showing up tonight, which made it difficult for the rest of the staff. Although he was flustered, he was polite, friendly, and professional. My dad and I shared a half bottle of their Rose. It was refreshing, not very sweet, and had pleasant notes of raspberries, strawberries, and apricots. I love how they offer half bottle options for some of the wines. For our appetizer, we got the burrata. It was delicious, but the rye crisps were a bit too salty. There were also beautifully shaved persimmons and pieces of artichoke. Main courses: duck entrée was outstanding. Meat was tender and flavorful, and the rice that came with it was really good. Swordfish was ok; not as impressive. Dad commented that it was a bit bland and dry. Farmer’s salad was alright, but a bit pricey. I really liked the bits of candied sesame that was tossed in, and the vinnegrette. Overall, it was an okay experience. The place seemed a little dead, in a sense, but perhaps it is just because it’s a Sunday night. It wasn’t a terribly exciting dinner, but not a disappointing one either. The highlights were the duck and wine. I saw someone order the scallops, which looked really good. Not sure if I will dine here the next time I am in the area, but if so, I’ll definitely try it.

I asked the chef to accommodate my vegan/gluten free needs and they did the best they could. The food was excellent and off the menu. I appreciated that.

I was driving from Santa Barbara to the San Francisco area for Thanksgiving. I was ready for lunch as I neared Paso Robles. Online reviews led me to Thomas Hill Organics. What a find! The décor is casual/contemporary/rustic and I immediately felt very comfortable there. The friendly hostess seated me right next to the warm fireplace in the covered courtyard area. Nice! I ordered the«Braised Pork Belly» sandwich, which was absolutely DELICIOUS. I wish I could have another one right now! My side dish was the fresh fruit, which looked so fresh and beautiful I wish I had a camera with me to snap a photo. It tasted as good as it looked. Service, food, atmosphere — a very easy 5 star review from me! My only regret is that I don’t live closer so I could go there more often.

Yummy dinner after a day of wine tastings. We started with the burrata which was tasty but I felt a little small given the price. I also don’t eat meat and didn’t realize until it was almost to our table that it had nduja sausage. I asked the waitress to point out where it was and I tried to to eat anything that touched it. She did offer to have them fix it, but this was my fault for assuming the burrata plate didn’t have meat on it and I didn’t tell her I was vegetarian. Anyway, it was good, I just think overpriced. I had the seasonal squash salad for my main dish and it was amazing. The squash were perfect texture, served atop a yogurt base with pomegranate seeds, almond slices, and other yummy herbs and stuff. My husband had the diver scallops which were perfectly seared(Gordon Ramsey would be proud) served atop some sausage, Farro, and a smokey tomato sauce. He really enjoyed it. We couldn’t leave without dessert. I had the caramel budino, super caramelly and salty, but too much, I couldn’t finish. Husband had the lemon tart. He loved it.

Beautiful outdoor patio. My husband and I ordered an amazing Viognier by LXV and the three cheese sampler to start. The wine was perfect, not too sweet or acidic. It was very easy to like. The sampler had a generous serving of fruits that’s complimented the cheese. I could have easily eaten the three cheese sampler for dinner! We ordered the grilled chicken salad and the tenderloin entrée. The salad was flavorful(it had some sort of light herbal dressing that was refreshing) and hearty. The tenderloin was tender(of course) and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant. I wish they had one closer to where I live!

I came here with a large group for an anniversary celebration. The ambiance of the restaurant is neat, with a great back room for larger groups. I ordered the roasted chicken, which I thought was fantastic, and was made gluten free. Others ordered the halibut, although there was a lot of consternation at the table since we thought that the fish option was sea bass. Halibut and sea bass are not a similar fish. The beef tenderloin got an «OK» vote. I would consider the 4 stars for service and the chicken.

Other than going day drinking from one winery to the next, I really don’t know much about life in downtown Paso Robles. What I do know, is after going to Thomas Hill Organics on more than one occasion, they are definitely worth a stop. The town is quiet, but as is the case with many of these small wine towns, the locals are all about organic, locally sourced, fresh from the farm food, perfectly paired with local spirits. The space is large with something of a bistro lounge in front, a large patio space out back, along with a few smaller private rooms. Coming here for lunch the first time I had a wonderful steak sandwich. More recently we stopped for dinner after driving back from Big Sur. While the wine list is expansive, and well curated, they have a decent selection of local beers too. After an afternoon of wine tasting, I settled on Central Coast Brewery’s Catch 23, an Imperial Rye, which is excellent. The food was spot on throughout. We started with a three cheese plate, and while I forget what we chose, you can see the pic below for yourself. Next time I think we’ll order five cheeses and call it a meal. My wife got the Pan Seared Foie Gras appetizer as a meal, and though it wasn’t a huge portion, it was filling(it is foie after all). I ordered the Pan Roasted Duck Breast perfectly cooked at medium. It was rich, moist and delicious. We followed that up with a Caramel Budino, and while Pizzeria Mozza might have that locked up, this one was pretty good. If you ever find yourself in Paso Robles, and can muster up the sobriety to step away from a vineyard, this place is worth a stop. You can always keep drinking too.

Pan Roasted Tolenas Farm Quail Salad contains Bloomsdale spinach, yellow frisee, Belgium endive, feta, toasted pine nuts, and topped with a sherry & bacon vinaigrette. The quail was perfectly roasted with a dark golden brown exterior. The meat was tender and juicy inside. The lettuces were good blend of green, peppery, and bitter flavors which pushed the quail flavor forward. The feta added a salty creaminess. The vinaigrette was the perfect blend of acidity and sweetness and contrasted nicely with the salad ingredients. Rating: 5⁄5 Cold Smoked Salmon Sandwich contains avocado, sriracha aioli, macerated red onion, and sunflower sprouts. The cold smoked salmon(from Washington) was excellent with good smoky essence and buttery flavor. The bread had a good hearty grain flavor. The accompaniment of a light salad was a nice touch making it a full meal. There were some competing flavors in the sandwich, maybe a less aggressive lettuce choice like bib or romaine or remove the sriracha aioli and replace with a dill aioli. Rating: 4.5÷5
