What a great store; high-end products, almost everything anyone could need and super-friendly service. What more to say? 4.44 stars — likely 5 on next visit!

Sacchetti!!! Mushroom Sacchetti! Try it and you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’ve been stopping in here for several years on the way home from SoCal surf trips with my family. We always pick up a number of items for road snacks and a meal when we get home. Great salads, stuffed chicken breasts, pastas and cheeses. Especially the mozzarella and Gorgonzola. If you want chips and soda go to a gas station, but if you want some great real food stop here!!!

They are amazing– fantastic selection of wine and fancy schmancy cheese and goodies — try the cinnamon rolls they are better than the ones from the famous place down the street– amazing staff and super customer service above and beyond anything in the area

Was very disappointed. The family and I decided to come by right after our dinner, 10pm since we heard great things about it. The signed said it closed at 11pm and when we were about to walk in, the worker stood in our way so I asked if they were open? He did not know what to say for a minuet trying to decide on the correct answer? Then I was told that it was closed. As I was driving away, I saw another customer being let in to shop.

Extremely nice market. The deli section is very good with a huge selection of fresh food. I stayed in the adjacent hotel and made a few trips here.

This is my first time here and I am pleasantly surprised. From the outside, I couldn’t imagine there would be a deli inside, yet alone an awesome grocery store. The items they stocked on the shelves were unique and most were fresh. The different kinds of pasta were interesting and pretty to look at. I loved seeing all the different snacks they had like the Thai BBQ chips! The deli — the sandwiches they offered made my mouth water. I really wanted to try all of them but settled for a mini Grinder sandwich. It had pesto, provolone, lettuce, ham and salami. The bread, I think was chibatta bread and it was fresh with crisp edges. My bf got the corn beef and omg it was so good. Be ware, these sandwiches are huge! :) The people are friendly and is in a good location next to the gas station. I would definitely be back.

This is the place to stop for. a quick bite if you are cruising on the central coast. It is kind of a hole in the wall place with incredibly tasty food, drinks, and treats to go whether to the beach or back on the road. The tri-tip sandwich rivals Firestone and the salads and cookies are amazing. If you are looking for quick food on the go this is the place. Easy on and off the freeway and close to Pismo and Avila beach.

Great place to stop for wine and snacks. My wife and I were on a road trip to Pismo for the first time. We decided to cut back one exit to hit this place up. Wide selection of wine, bourbon and other liquors. We hooked up some white and red wine. Unfortunately, not a lot of wines under $ 20. The ones I saw under $ 20 were not Californian. We got an awesome whoopee pie, some crackers and cheese and we were out. The deli looked good, but we were just making a quick stop and didn’t get anything. I would definitely go back, but if your looking for some cheaper deals head elsewhere.

What a great little gourmet store! We just moved around the corner and checked it out last night. Pastas, sauces, deli items, condiments, wine, liquor – all top quality. It’s delightful to be able to walk to such a place and get some victuals. This reminds me of establishments on Piedmont in Oakland and Berkeley 4th Street. The only reason I didn’t give it five starts were the quite high prices.

This place is great! My favorite– Dr. Tedone’s Fresh New York Mozzarella! It is the best mozzarella EVER!(And I’ve tried a large variety of fresh mozzarella) The deli counter has a great selection. It would be easy to never make dinner again. In addition to the great deli section, they have a good selection of grocery items.

When I was living in Pismo, this would be the place to hit up a gourmet sandwich. You grab the little slips of paper, jot and pencil down what you want and BOOM! Delicious sandwich with fantastic meats/cheeses and produce. They never skimp out on the ingredients and the breads are always fresh, to the last crumb. The owners I believe make some of the cheeses there and its to die for, I am not a huge fan of Gorgonzola but at De Palos I can eat the whole damn thing. The wine selection is actually pretty darn good for a small local store! Gonna need a picnic for the beach sunset, well stop here and stock up!

Great Deli. We can pick up a salad and a chicken and have restaurant quality food for half the price. Yea, the wine is a little expensive but I found stuff there that you can not even get at trader Joe’s. Staffed by the usual kids, trying hard but do not know much about wine or food. I will keep coming back. Philter

Really, really overpriced for their basic items and no restrooms on site! They do have a decent selection of gourmet and specialty items but I needed coffee creamer and some basic snacks for our weekend… $ 130 later I got my creamer and a small bottle of Baileys($ 29) some cheese, crackers, olives, small bag of almond brittle, and salami. Good thing my little one needed the potty and we were forced to the nearby gas station or I may have spent more.

Really cool deli, they have amazing food in the deli case. Definitely worth the money. I ordered a rueben and was amazed by the sheer size of the sandwhich and the bread was marbled! Very cool.

This was a nice little gem to stumble upon and very convenient since our hotel(Spyglass Inn) was right across the street! From the fresh fruits displayed outside to the scrumptious looking desserts in the case, you could tell that everything under this roof was high quality and nothing less than delicious! Every display case, aisle and shelf had something that had me feeling like a kid in a candy store! For lunch I had the tortellini with sun dried tomatoes and olives and my boyfriend had the crab salad sandwich and clam chowder. My tortellini was AMAZING and the clam chowder was so delicious and even had big chunks of clams! You could tell that the chefs take pride in their work because you simply want to savor each and every bite! After lunch, we got some picnic goodies to munch on while we watched the sun set from our hotel patio. We got some Brie, smoked pepperoni, prosciutto, fresh baked baguette, and some Stella Rosa moscato! My favorite dessert in the whole wide world is crème brûlée and they had crème brûlée cheesecake that was absolute heavenly! Although I thought some of the prices were a little steep, it was definitely worth it! Te food speaks for itself! This little market was such an amazing treasure to find that I would definitely come back!

We stayed next door at the Dolphin Resort and Spa. Once you’re settled in to the Dolphin, De Palo & Sons is your local grocery store. This is a very pretty and inviting spot with a fine selection of food and drink for your in-suite breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner. Buying food here is a cheap activity when compared with patronizing the local restaurants, but there’s still plenty of sticker shock at De Palo & S. Basically, you’ll be paying prices that would be on the high end for Maui. For example: Would you like a «demi sourdough baguette» that weighs 0.33lb with your afternoon wine and cheese? Grab one and you’ll be paying $ 7.04 for the indulgence. It’s true that the demie-baguette has to be trucked in from somewhere. It’s not as if there’s a fine bakery on the premises. Well OK, but beware that these guys are charging Amazon Drone Service prices. The bottom line: I can’t bring myself to become a fan of De Palo & Sons. On the other hand, if I stay again at the Resort and Spa again I’ll obviously be walking over to De Palo for my provisions.

SHELLBEACHGOURMETEATS ! (for the 1% down to the other 99%) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was Created(on this day) in BROOKLYN & De Palo’s was Created first in olé Brooklyn TOO (most likely on a different day & year… I am not quite that old LOL :) ! SO them, like me, somehow both found our respective ways to BEAUTIFULSHELLBEACH, «THEHAWAIIOFTHECENTRALCOAST»! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So HAPPYBIRTHDAYTOME! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ …and I am going to treat myself to De Palo’s amazing fresh BISCOTTI! & maybe some more GOURMETGOODIES Since I am overjoyed to live just down the street, I almost too frequently, find myself looking for excuses to stop here and buy some Gourmet goody, on the way home from work. Yes, it is not cheap here, but the prices & superior selection on some hard to find items, cannot be compared to New Frontiers. Yes, this is a very expensive area, with zillions of homes in the millions, with lots of trophy wives shopping here, but hey, if you can afford to live here, why pinch $ 100 bills? It is hilarious that I come here all the time and am only reviewing it now… probably because I do take it for granted. SORRY! Since I grew up in NYC in an Italian neighborhood, and eventually lived in Manhattan, not too far from the famous Dean & Delucca(also in Napa, of all damned weird places), I am not stranger to upscale gourmet food… Especially Italian. The are some MUSTGETS, when you frequent here(but not everything in the Deli is that great… if it looks dried out then it is)…anyway, my favs.: 1) Dr. T’s famous daily homemade Mozzarella Cheese… no other Mozzarella comes close in my recent memory! It is $ 10 for a Huge Ball of the stuff, but so worth it! Great to share on a beach picnic with some vino/champagne, tomatoes, fresh basil, & bread.(Deli Area) 2) Rotisserie Chicken is filled with fresh Rosemary leaves, Garlic, and other spices, and then slowly roasted.(just under $ 10, good for 2 meals). 3) Freshly Carved Turkey Breast is fantastic on their sandwiches with Brie Cheese, and some other fixins(about $ 10, but fills you up). The Deli area has some other goodies, but beware, you can easily blow $ 25 – 50 on a several items. My advice is too target just what you want and just get a small amount to try first. I do not think that most of the salads are worth the price. Watch what seasoned locals buy. Like the big olé tasty Quiche slice. 4) Freshly Made Soups(e.g. Minestrone= $ 10 two servings) & other prepacked ready to zap goodies. Great for when you are too tired from work, feel under the weather, and want a hot soup. Great for Colds & Flu’s.(Prepack Area) 5) Biscotti– Both the VERY Chocolate & the Orangy One(Front Counter) are yummy($ 16/pd?). 6) Wine Selection is extensive, excellent, but pricey… unless you stick by the displays near the Front, where good deals can be had(Wines= $ 10& up). In side and back of the store, the quality goes way up with the prices and it is hard to find bottles under $ 25. An extensive selection of local wines can be found here, so you can save gas & money on visiting Vineyards & those damned Tasting fees! 7) Fine Champagnes, German wines, and rare large format huge 2 – 5 Liter Wine bottles can be had hiding in the back. One X-mas I bought a 3 Liter Wine Bottle as a present… they loved both the huge bottle and the wine! I think it was about $ 99 and well worth it. 8) A Little Bit of almost everything you can imagine for the busy trophy wife or 1% hubby can be had here. It is often fun just to browse this little shop and be amazed at how they manage to stock zillions of different items here. Some are essential(i.e. Detergent, Light Bulbs, Ice-Cream LOL), and some not(i.e. Designer Mustard, Muscat Wine, Grappa). 9) Fresh Veges & Fruits are on display as you enter the store… so if you need just to grab a lemon, here it is! Fresh Cheeses, Lox, Cracker, Pâté, Salami, & other essentials are near the Deli. 10) I can almost ramble ad infinitum about their plethora of offerings, but hey, that would rob you of the pleasure of making your own discoveries! SOHAVEFUN!!! EITHERYOUONEPERCENTERS ORTHEWANNABIES!!! P. S.- BTW– They have fresh coffee inside & picnic tables outside… but a beach picnic is far more fun! If you happen to stay at one the overpriced nearby hotels, this place will likely be cheaper than the generally mediocre hotel restaurants down the street! P. S.S.- The closest rough equivalents are about a 10 – 15 minute drive away… such as the Trader Joes in either Arroyo Grande(right off the South 101, Halcyon Rd. Exit), or in SLO(N 101 Los Osos Rd); or the New Frontiers Market on Los Osos Rd.(but since they have no wine, you also need to stop by the next door BevMo or Costco… with all that hassle… why bother?)
