House of Lolo

hmmm… the House of LowLow… or is it the House of NoNo? I usually don’t have negative experiences to write about, but I live in the neighborhood and these ladies at HOL clearly don’t get the Pearl. The vibe in this place will suck the life out of you — mostly thanks to the unprofessional, totally rude, staring staff. Blasé selection — unpleasant experience… over it.
My friends and I are looking forward to whatever’s next for this space…

You know you are in the Pearl District when you step into a spacious shop with little and very expensive inventory.
There really is not that much to choose from as the theme here is obviously minimalist.
The few things they do have are lovely and for me, priced completely unreasonably. Like I am going to spend almost $ 1000 on a wool trench coat with some leather trim? Sure, it’s a sharp looking coat. But good God, I know we are in the Pearl but is anyone going to spend that much? Maybe I am just not hip with the times and people really do spend that kind of money on a random coat, if so, I beg your pardon.
It would be cool if your shop had goods that «normal» people like me, I know I am throwing the term normal around quite loosely but folks probably get my gist. My budget for a really nice and very unique coat is more like $ 500.00
Unless you are selling Versace or something, consider rethinking your price points. It’s just that I see so many shops like this come and go because nobody is going to really shop there.
2015 — Review # 98

We spent a full week shopping Portland and Seattle stores. Many we had been to before, but we had not been to House of Lolo.
Sadly, we won’t return.
We stopped in and were the only customers. The lady behind the desk didn’t even acknowledge us. After 15 minutes in the store, the lady (who I found out is the owner) walked up to us with a scowl on her face. I thought she might be having a bad day and tried to engage her in conversation as my daughter tried on jeans (the owner never even assisted my daughter into the dressing room). The owner acted completely uninterested.
Another customer (who was very well dressed and fit the profile of the store) walked in. I thought for sure the owner would make a beeline for that young lady. No. She ignored the other customer, too. The young lady was obviously looking for something and even turned to get the attention of the owner. But after being ignored, the young lady turned and left.
My daughter and shop a lot and spend a lot. But, we have a philosophy… if we find something we absolutely love in a store, we will NOT buy it if we are ignored or treated rudely (or see another customer treated rudely). Instead, we will write down the information and find it elsewhere, even if it costs more or, sadly, can’t be found at all. There are too many small businesses (or Nordstrom) who gladly want our business.
I gave an extra star because Lolo’s had some very nice merchandise.

I’ve shopped here a few times and have always had very positive experiences. I found two beautiful dresses here last weekend and had a great time looking. The staff was helpful and fun; I look forward to shopping here again.

The staff are knowledgeable, don’t pressure people to buy, buy, buy and treat customers like rock stars.

Great boutique with unique finds. The staff was so helpful and they make you feel very comfortable. Would definitely shop here again.

i bought a beautiful dress at this store. i ended up having a problem with it. i took it in to the owner. she was beyond helpful. with customer service like this — she has a client for life. i hope this store succeeds! i can not day enough good things about house of lolo and i can’t wait to shop there again!

Great shop and very helpful staff!

I have seen this store so many times on my trips to Powells or Anthropologie so I finally gave in and went inside. This is one of the few places in Portland with good upscale brands and fun colors to boot. I got a fabulous bright pink shirt for work that will also be great for play. The staff was also very welcoming and helpful showing me various items when I let them know what i was looking for, they know their merchandise which is nice and a bit refreshing as some places the staff look like they are finding new things along with you. They have so many fun dresses and styles, I will for sure be back on many future trips downtown.

I just discovered this place today! I work at a mall so I don’t notice many window displays for clothes if I’m not actively seeking to buy something. But their window display made me stop immediately. The dresses were picked out so thoughtfully. What I also liked was that each was flattering to most body types. After being coaxed into coming in, I was quickly greeted by a friendly salesgirl. I quickly fell in love with this boutique. They have all the brands I like: Sanctuary, Alternative Apparel, BB Dakota, and Hy and Dot. They also have Ivanka Trump bags which are (at least for me) hard to find in Portland. With such a wide variety of product you won’t have very much trouble at all, finding an outfit for any occasion. This will be my go to place for clothes when I’m downtown because they have amazing brands.

I don’t like most of the boutiques in the downtown/​NW area because they always seem cheap to me. Not House of Lolo! Cute, unique, (but still classic) clothes and very nice, helpful staff. They even tweaked their return policy for me so I had a chance to see if I could get a dress hemmed. Great store!
Also, they have an online store that they seem to update quite frequently. That’s a plus for me!

What an amazing location. I purchased a
deal and got $ 100 worth of merchandise. However, i received more than i purchased. The ladies that work here are amazing, friendly and very helpful.
I will def be back!

What a beautiful boutique. I was recommended by the girls at Anthropology to check out this new store. I am glad I went. The items are very nicely priced. I ended up buying two dresses. They don’t have tons of things, but what they have is great.
