Amazing food. Not only do they have lots of dairy-free options but the customer service was great. The whole vibe of the restaurant was very relaxing. I went there to grab lunch after an intense workout. And surprisingly the food was high in protein, tastey and the price was not to shabby.

I feel that this coffee joint is the best there is in Portland. Super love their iced/frozen mokkas and their original coffee cake.

I write this review, while having breakfast at an alternate restaurant in downtown PDX; not a good sign. Was in Beaverton with friends earlier in the day, and up for exploring a new breakfast option. A Unilocal search and review led me here. I drove over, walked in, and spend a few minutes getting a feel for the place while looking over the display case offerings and menu. After letting an elderly couple jump ahead of me in line, I proceeded to the register to place my order. Now things get interesting. Midway through the ordering process, while inquiring for the staff’s insight, I’m informed the restaurant stopped serving breakfast at 1:00pm. Ok; I wasn’t aware of the time restrictions, but it’s literally 1:01pm. At first I thought she was joking, only to have her solidify her stance, and offer some form is pig in a blanket as substitute. I casually expressed my disappointment, canceled my order, and departed. What kind of establishment views this pattern as an acceptable form of customer service? It’s the kind of establishment that doesn’t train their staff, and is actively working to shrink their customer base. I was looking forward to trying a new establishment. I won’t repeat this mistake with Jim and Patty’s. Congratulations on a *great* customer service model.

I’m always looking for a coffee place that has truly great coffee. These guys do, and they know how to make it! I’ve had a machiato and a few cappuccinos this weekend it’s been perfect. The food is great too. To top it off, excellent customer service!

Well the coffee is good but their gluten free pastries are not celiac safe. Either there was major cross contamination or it really wasn’t gluten free. I should have never gotten it seeing that it was in the same case as the non-gluten free items. They were on their own pan but I guess that’s not enough because I am sicker than a dog right now.

The drinks here are so delicious! My go to drink is the Almond milk hazelnut latte. So much flavor in a cup! The staff is great too! And quick! The restroom is always clean, which is such a thing for me. I love when places keep a clean restroom I enjoy people watching and you can sit by the window and stare out while you enjoy a cup of caffeine.

Sweet people, good prices and good drinks/pastries. I would recommend the dirty chai.

I stopped by this place on a whim to grab some coffee after running an errand in the Alphabet District based on Unilocal!reviews. The baristas were very friendly and helpful and the coffee was delicious. My only complaint is that they don’t do a pour over. I want to return and buy some of their beans!

I grew up in PDX and used to frequent Jim & Patty’s years ago. I’ve since moved out of Oregon and miss the goodness of their strong rich coffee, tasty pastries, great customer service, and wonderfully fresh(and fattening) milkshakes. Whenever I make it to town to visit family/friends, I always make my way to my favorite coffee spot.

I so missed Coffee People! Was glad to see Jim and Patty making a new go of it. But so not impressed with the store on Lovejoy. Was a cold place with not much seating, very loud atmosphere made me feel slightly unwelcomed. My favorite Black Forrest mocha was quite as good as remembered. Biscuit with honey was just ok.

This is a place with an inviting atmosphere. The people are friendly and the coffee is just as good as it has always been. I love the pastries but the Pig Newtons are my favorite. I am very excited that this location was opened. They make my day when work is rough.

Oh, man. This joint is in the neighborhood, but I never made it around during business hours to catch a drink. Luckily I sauntered over on a Friday to try the gluten free pig newton as someone else mentioned, and an iced mokka. There are no Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf branches in Portland but dang, does Jim and Patty’s come close with their blended beverages!!! I was so happy walking around Alphabet District w/my dog, my pig newton(which didn’t last three bites nor two steps), and my iced mokka. Even in the fog of allergies I was still so happy.

Way cooler than your average coffee shop. I wish I had taken note of the names of the two gentlemen working because they were rad. Warm and friendly, helped me decide on a beverage. The coffee was delicious but the kicker was the gluten free«Pig Newton» which is two breakfast sausages covered in cheddar cheese and wrapped in a cheesy herb biscuit crust. Stop it. This is the kind of breakfast pastry I thought I would never enjoy again when I decided to go gluten free 4 years ago. All the other pastries looked scrumptious as well. I may have to move to Portland after this…

So this place is a bit pricey. I won’t beat around the bush there but if you live in the neighborhood, you can probably afford it. This can’t be my daily cup, sadly. I found it on Unilocal(go fig!) and was sure since the colon title was: Immediate Care it was going to be some divey little cart inside a urgent care waiting room at Good Sam. NOPE. Clean, big, spacious, Portlandy. Immediate care being a jab at the true caffeine addicts. I had a piece of the«famous» coffee cake. MMMM nuts, cinnamon and brown sugar. So tasty and so big. The guy working was like, «Let’s get you a bigger piece…» Twist my arm, why don’t you? I also had a cold brew, uh, Red Tiger? Something like that. I think I paid around $ 7 for the two items which is a bit steep for my cheap/regular Starbucksy ass… I’m used to $ 2 or so for a 12 – 16 iced coffee. Their menu did look inventive though… some unusual choices. I am going to have fun this summer trying some iced mochas. Buuuuut it was all delicious. I loved my drink, the cake, the experience and ESPECIALLY the tip jars of The Dress. I can’t imagine a place more catered to my demographic(presenting as family owned, is that a legit claim for them?), cool music, industrial feel, takes cards, offers cold brew on the menu, mentions The Dress anywhere during the experience. I’ll be back, just sadly not every day.

Strolling through the«Knob Hill» area and I needed my third out of 4 coffees for this day. This is a small place, probably catering to their«to go» clientele, but they have free wifi and all if you want to hang around too. I got my eyes on their menu board and I saw the Habanero flavor under their specialty mochas and I had to have it! OK, that thing is the bomb, absolutely wakes you up and kicks your head to the wall. No need for the fourth coffee any more, probably the best and strongest coffee I had in Portland!

Jim and Patty’s was neither here nor there on my list of great coffee shops in Portland. The pastry idea they have of these hot pocket type things were okay but not amazing. The coffee and tea were nothing amazing. The service was probably their only 5 star in my opinion. Very nice and very happy looking. What is with Portland and all the depressed people serving us our caffein intake for the day. But all in all… I will probably come again because of convenience to work but I will probably take the extra time to walk to Barista.

Went here for the first time tonight and am in love with this place. I had one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. It wasn’t too sweet or too hot. It was perfect. Also got a piece of the coffee cake and it was amazing. I have found my new favorite coffee place!

I am a huge fan of J&P’s and usually frequent the NE location… But I am so excited for the new NW spot! I literally ran in and proclaimed my love for everyone there all the baristas were extremely accommodating to my semi-large four drink order and of course gave me no back talk for bringing in my own cups for all four drinks they were all perfect and timely. The new store is very clean and nicely decorated/laid out. Not really a place to stop and chill for a long time unless you’re going to study or read at the bar height tables. Easy to read menu. Not good for large parties to meet. This location is more for the«in and out» customers I’d imagine, as it is right across from Good Sam. So glad to have somewhere to stop and get a Soviet Mocha when I’m in NW now! So proud of the J&P family and so happy for them.

Insert gushing! I lost my Coffee People 1994 Road Tour mug, and I’m devastated over it. I bought it at the Immediate Care Center on 23rd back in the(1994) day. I was younger. Jim and Patty were younger, but there was still no back talk! And now they are back! I was just in there getting an Ultimate pumpkin heaven in my mouth drink(not it’s official latte name), some Red Tiger coffee(these kids – back in my day, we only had Black Tiger, and we were happy to have it!), and after a sold out experience in NE the day before, I’ve got me some frosted cookies, which are amazing. A-maz-ing. Also exciting: a piece of carrot cake with NONUTS! I never get to have carrot cake due to my allergy to walnuts, but not today! Today, I get carrot cake! Best day off off my diet ever! One dude made my ultimate pumpkin heavenly thing. A chick who actually made my carrot cake ground up my Red Tiger, and still another friendly dude charged me money I was happy to spend. Not only was the nostalgia high, but the products and service are still awesome, 20 years after I started my coffee people/Jim and Patty loyalty. The only thing that might have made this visit to the Immediate Care Center better was if Callahan still lived a block away. He used to eye my breasts approvingly from his wheelchair when I was out for my walks, and sometimes he verbalized his approval. Frankly, he was a good friend and neighbor. I miss him. But I happily raise my coffee cup to him on NW Lovejoy, and I’m glad as heck to have a reason to remember and still enjoy the coffee of days gone by. Three cheers for Jim and Patty!
