Dr. Schmitt was extremely nice. He explained to me what some causes to my migraines may be, and gave me a lot of helpful tips.
Hector was very patient and helpful with choosing my new frames.
I can honestly say this was my best experience at an optometrist in the 15+ years I’ve been wearing glasses.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Elora was extremely helpful in choosing my new sunglasses. They have a large variety of really good glasses to choose from.

I was missing a nose pad and noticed them across from Good Sam as I rode by on my bike. They gave me new pads just out out of the goodness of their hearts. Really nice people.

Came in to get an eye exam, Hector was very helpful in helping me choose the style of frame i was wanting. Very knowledgeable of the products and was easy to work with. Veronica was very friendly and also great with assisting in my exam prior to seeing the DR. This place is awesome with State of the Art technology that makes the whole process fast and pleasant. The Dr was great to talk to, you honestly feel he has a genuine passion about eye health and ensuring everyone is able to see to there best ability. Very knowledgeable and enjoyed coming here. Will definitely return.

Marc and Hector helped me out during my eye exam and picking out my glasses. The customer service was great, and it is a very cool place to get a thorough exam with lots of stylish frames to choose from. Thanks guys.

Went in looking for clear frames, Kristy gladly pointed me out to their selections and gave a brief about each kind. I got to try on several pairs with no pressure, since I’m very indecisive. Kristy totally understood and we laughed about it, the process was simple and easy and oddly enough it was one of the quickest and pleasant experiences. Insurance coverage was confirmed and payment was clear and was a breeze. Finally I was able to choose between two of my favorite pairs and with the input of Kristy and her colleagues Hector and Veronica, I was extremely pleased with my purchase and experience. Great atmosphere, refreshing design (Company Image, Interior/​Graphic Design), awesome selections and very nice people. Quality overall, would definitely recommend!

Spectacle is the best ever. Dr. Schmitt and his staff are so concise and are great at helping you understand any questions you may have. I had been going to another eye specialist and never saw any results in over a year. As soon as I left Spectacle I felt a huge relief — I finally feel like I understand my eyes and all of my questions were answered by doctor Schmitt with both photos and videos. I never knew that I would need glasses, but I am so excited to receive them now that I know why I need them.
In addition to the great care they give you during your appointment, picking out glasses is so much fun. They have a wonderfully curated selection of glasses, it is a relaxed environment and stress-​free. The interiors and decorating also makes you feel like you are being taken care of. It is clean and just feels really nice :)

The best experience at an Optometrist I have ever had. Very friendly, state of the art testing equipment, really nice office… So happy they have the technology beyond eye dilation and puffs of air in the eye! And much more affordable than my last Optometrist. Just really pleased with the whole experience.

Had my eye exam here today and was thoroughly impressed. The whole staff was very professional but at the same time friendly. Every aspect of the eye exam was explained clearly to me and they were very upfront about the whole process. Dr. Schmitt is extremely knowledgeable and does a great job explaining the results in a way that you can fully understand it. He also gives great tips on taking care of vision. Overall, a great experience. They also have really dope brands that you don’t find at most stores, definitely worth checking out!

I recently went to Spectacle for an eye exam and new glasses. Dr. Schmitt was very nice, thorough and helpful! Hector helped me pick out some stylish new frame and I picked them up and love them!!! From start to finish, I had a very happy experience with Spectacle PDX. Hector was super friendly and helpful in helping me find an appointment time! My actual visit was efficient and professional. Hector also helped me find a new pair of glasses that I love. My glasses arrived in a week and, given that the office is open later on Wednesdays, I was able to pick them up after work. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a new eye doctor! :) Keep up the excellent work.

Wonderful people and overall enjoyable atmosphere here. Picked up my favorite brand sunglasses, Salt, and they have the best selection in town. If I have ever «enjoyed» a trip to the eye doctor, this would be that one, single time.
The young man at the front desk (didn’t get his name) was very friendly and efficient; and the fact that they encourage you to pre-​populate your demographic and medical information online, in advance of your appointment, is a big plus. Their equipment is «state of the art» and they are very much into eye health — not just giving you a new script and selling you glasses (no «hard sell» at all, in fact.
Alurea (spelling may be off) is the person who preps you for the exam by putting you through all the preliminary diagnostic testing machines. She is very professional and yet very personable at the same time. Some of the machines she uses look formidable, but she is very patient and explains exactly what she is going to do before she does it.
My very first impression of Dr. Marc Schmitt was: «Hold on here, I have shoes older than this guy!» but don’t let his youthfulness fool you. He is a meticulous diagnostician who is also (amazingly enough) able to explain each aspect of his diagnosis to you in layman’s terms.
That is not a talent that every doctor has.
I recommend Dr. Schmitt and Spectacle wholeheartedly.

I went in to see Dr. Schmitt a few weeks ago, as I haven’t had a proper eye exam in several years. The experience was professional and thorough, and they have the latest in optometric equipment. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me choose from a great variety of frame choices. I would happily recommend Spectacle to anyone.

Dr. Marc Schmitt, Optometrist is the best eye doctor in the area. I had went to The Eye Studio for 7 years but they began overcharging (started making the contact fitting separate from the already expensive eye check-​up. That was new to me.)
Called Spectacle and got in with a day. Doctor Schmitt is so thorough — he changed my contact prescription and the contact brand. He also recommend natural ways to keep my eyes from getting dry — that are working great.
I not only see better but I am saving about a hundred dollars a year with the new brand. I highly recommend Spectacle & Dr. Schmitt.

pretty good modern selection of glasses. thankfully, not as many acetate frames as many other shops in Portland. selection is small to medium but, with good choices. definitely some COOL (not necessarily hipster) frames for men and some great ones for women too.
cheapest pair of frames was about $ 210. most expensive was $ 900 or so. a decent selection between $ 250 and $ 350 range. their house co branded frames offer good styles at reasonable prices.
lenses on the other hand started at $ 175?

Let me first say, I was excited (yes, excited) to hear that Dr Schmitt has finally opened his own practice. My experience with Dr Schmitt has been a great one! I have never been comfortable seeing an optometrist, but Dr Schmitt changed that and made it a comfortable one.
He is kind, friendly and pays attention to his clients’ needs and concerns. He took the time to explain all the procedures and the conditions I have in a way I could understand (actually in a way ONLY I can understand).
The website of Spectacle is visually appealing and easy to navigate. You are shown two points of entry: (1) for scheduling appointment and another is the «Patient Portal» (what looks like a page for updating client information). I had scheduled an appointment with Dr Schmitt after I found out about his new practice on a Sunday and was called the following day by the Receptionist Hector (?) — Who is pleasant to talk to on the phone by the way. Hector helped me schedule a time that was most convenient for me. He was also more than willing to go above and beyond service and see if my plan allowed me to get glasses, but unfortunately that could not be verified during the call. I am sure it was due to my insurer’s system.
If you have the opportunity to see Dr Schmitt, you will not be disappointed by the quality of service and care that will be GIVEN to you.
I am not going to lie, I cannot wait for my appointment and a new set of eyeglasses.
