Is it still open? Nothing on the calender has been updated, there’s no answering machine, and I can’t find anything recent(in the lat 3 years) mentioned online.

Love this place. The first time I went they had a 10 piece band from Puerto Rico. THere is ahuge dance floor. A large variety of dancers at different levels. A nice mix of cultures and no pressure. It also has a nice range of ages. I would definitely recommend this place for the hot spot of salsa dancing in Portland — at least what I have found so far. It is kinda strange heading up the stairs through the theater but once you get there — it is worth it.

Just moved to the area and was looking for a place to practice salsa. I’ve been dancing salsa on and off for about a year and I really want to keep it up… it’s super fun! There are tons of good salsa dance clubs where I used to live in the bay area, so I was hoping to find something similar here in the Portland Area. Mambo’s was perfect! Cover was $ 12, which I think is reasonable. The décor was pretty and the way the club was set up(dance floor in the middle, and plenty of seating around it) was nice. What I really liked was how big the dance floor was. It was easy to move around and show off some cool salsa moves ;-) This is the first place I’ve been to where bumping into people and getting stepped on wasn’t an issue, so I LOVED it. The men/women ratio was fine, so it was easy to find a partner, and the band that was playing that night was awesome! I’m only giving it 4 stars because of a few reasons… the bar wasn’t too impressive and parking was a problem. But other than that, I had a GREAT time and will be going back!

A great salsa venue, with a spacious ballroom floor and plentiful multi-level seating area around its perimeter. Came here late on a Saturday night after driving in from California, and there were about 300 people in good spirits. Everyone was really friendly, and I enjoyed the hour or so I spent here. By the way, if you’re coming from a salsa hotspot such as the Bay Area, it’s probably best to have tempered expectations about the level of dancers and the quality of the band. I would say that, of the 300 people there, only about 10 would be considered intermediate/advanced dancers, and the band made heavy use of Casio sounds from the 80s(which was charming in its own sort of way).

I think I have to drop this salsa dancing spot down a ½-star(rounding up). My last experience was mixed. The cover was $ 7. There were way too many guys. So the girls had the pick of the pack, and I knew I wasn’t gonna get to dance. My drink was hecka weak. I did see some pretty awesome dancers though. I still have faith in Mambo, and will give ‘em another try, no doubt.

Great place for live music and dance with Salsa pros. If you go early, there are lessons you can take. They people are extremely friendly, and you never get bored with the live music blarring at every direction. Great vibe, great space, and great music.

Went here for the first time last night. It was fun! They give a short lesson and then you’re free to salsa the night away. The time, days, and cover charge changes regularly which would be the thing that made subtract a star. The atmosphere is fun but not sleezy like a lot of dance venues get. The live band was great. The dance floor is large and well taken care of. Makes for a great time!
