Muselet Restaurant and Wine Bar

Been there twice now in less than 2 months, both times we had dinner with wine pairing. The food was very good, particularly like the oysters, creamy mozzarella cheese, scallops, and the pork chop was so tender and moist. Even the accompaniment of each dish was tasty and unusual, like the black trumpet mushrooms.
Love the bubbly goat custard dessert, the previous raspberry version was even better than the apple version they are offering now, but still a would not miss. There were enough new items on the menu the 2^nd time we went, that we didn’t feel like eating the same dinner again.
The wine pairing was so fun, Ron’s most helpful and knowledgeable about wines. Décor is modern, yet cozy, furnishings are well-​appointed. Prices are very reasonable, considering other restaurants with similar quality in town. We’ve tried most top restaurants in town, and would highly recommend this one. This is a great place to share with friends or date nights.

We had a fabulous evening at Muselet celebrating an engagement. The food was spectacular. So flavorful, interesting and simply delicious. The craft cocktails were unique and so good. Amazing wine list. Locally sourced ingredients. The staff are friendly and engaging and helped make the meal special.
This was exactly the kind of place we had hoped for. Five stars. Kudos to Ron and all of the staff.

Found a JEWEL on the waterfront! A little hard to see the sign from the street, but well worth the discovery! Fabulous wine list, appetizers were awesome, bat tender Greg was very attentive. I will bring my husband back for DATE NIGHT soon!

The standouts of this meal were definitely appetizers: first, six Quilcene Oysters on the half shell served on top of a stand of seaweed were like little pieces of ocean, briny and insistently clean.
The fresh smoked salmon came in small orange rectangles covered with crispy layer of cracker made out of some ambitious whole grain.
Frankly this would’ve been enough. The salad, vegetables, and trout were delicious. The main courses could not impress to the extent that the starters could.
I was impressed with the polite service which was unobtrusive. My water glass was always filledI cutlery were changed a bit officiously with each course, and I enjoyed seeing the chef in the open kitchen.
Now that I have found this delightful corner of the south waterfront, I will be back especially for special occasions. This is a high price point for Portland, but I was delightfully filled and happy when I left

Amazing food, incredible service, beautiful décor!
We were so impressed with this restaurant. Every court was incredible and inventive. Truly a new Portland gem tucked away into this beautiful little emerging neighborhood. Would recommend any local or out-​of-​tower visit here. Lovely, lovely menu, great wine recommendations, and nice craft cocktails. Portions were generous as well… we couldn’t even manage dessert by the end of the meal. Can’t wait to take friends next time and go back!

Excellent dinner, dessert and drinks. They switch up the menu often but the steak option is always fantastic. And my husband loves the oysters.
The whole restaurant is very classy while still being incredibly comfortable. And the outdoor seating area is very cute in the summer. But our favorite area, by far, is the bar section. It’s set up really cozy and lounge-​y. More often than not we just come here for a drink and dessert during a weeknight evening. The wine and craft cocktail selection is excellent and the bartender Craig is awesome. Actually, everyone who works here is really knowledgeable and helpful and kind.
I never remember the name of my favorite dessert but I just call it «The Bubbles». And if you order that the waiter will know what you’re talking about. It’s this goat cheese custard with gram cracker crust and raspberry sauce that has been blown into little bubbles. (I’m sure someone has posted a photo of it on Unilocal.) It’s AMAZINGLY TASTY and so fun to look at and eat. It’s worth going just for that!
They also have a huge projector screen that would be awesome to watch a game on in the bar.
So yes, as you can tell I’m a big fan of Muselet! Go there, order the bubbles, a nice glass of wine, and maybe a steak and oysters if you’re feeling fancy. And enjoy!

Craft cocktails that will make you want to skip work and play hooky. True craft cocktails made with ethereal ingredients. Price point is slightly high but after you try one of their cocktails, you’ll get spoiled and turn into a craft cocktail snob.
Food is high quality and smaller portions allow the price point to stay manageable while still getting rare dishes plated.
Worth it when you want to treat yourself. Drinks and dinner is about $ 65 each with gratuity. Worth it.

We had an excellent meal tonight. When reading the menu online nothing sounded really tempting. But it’s the kind of thing where you don’t always know what you’re eating, but it all tastes amazing.
We focused on apps and salads. Excellent oysters, beet salad, bib lettuce salad, cheese plate… Also liked the olive bread and butter on the side.
Another stand out was the wine and cocktails. The selection of wines by the glass is great. The owner/​wine somm is very knowledgable. We had cocktails and two wine flights and enjoyed it, plus it felt reasonably priced.
The dessert slightly disappointed (I think we chose poorly — a chocolate something and corn bread something) and the lighting outside got harsh at night.
This places has been open four months and I wish them well!

Great food, wine, and service. Had the wagyu strip steak, girlfriend had the halibut and both were excellent. Truly a nice restaurant in the SW waterfront. That said, a tad overpriced in my view but otherwise fantastic. Even has a big screen projector in the bar for games!

Reunited with a college friend during burger week and he raved about this restaurant at the south waterfront he randomly discovered. «Best smoked salmon», oh-no…he just set-​up very high expectations. After I ran into him a second time, Muselet was still on his mind so we made plans to go. Last Wednesday, our party of four went for dinner – surprisingly, the dining room was full so we were seated in the lounge. Noted, need reservations in the future. So busy for being mid-​week. Service was on point, my friend was running late so we were waiting, the server made sure to check on us to see if we needed anything.
We started on appetizers, we ordered half a dozen oysters and smoked salmon. The oysters were the Netarts variety, I like that they were locally sourced but it had a bitter aftertaste to them and part of it was due to the melon mignonette. Unfortunately, it could’ve been shucked more cleanly because I got shells in them. The smoked salmon was delicious, it came with currants and a horseradish cream – I typically don’t care for horseradish but it was mild and complimented the salmon well. My friend said it had changed and he preferred the previous preparation he had, but I thought it was still good. For entrees, we got two orders of Spot Prawns, Pork Crepinette, and Wagyu Cullote with the broccoli and carrot sides. We kind of all picked at each others’ food. Hands down, the spot prawns! The prawns and hen of the woods mushroom was served cooked over river rocks with doug fir. The heads came deep-​fried but the rocks was the right temperature because the prawns were cooked perfectly. It was served with some lettuce and an aioli dipping sauce – the combinations of flavor was exquisite! The majority of us concluded that it was the best dish of the evening. Wagyu beef had chanterelle, pine cream, hazelnut, and mustard jus. Meat came out on the rare side and tender, had so many complex taste in one bite. I don’t care too much for the Pork Crepinette only because everything else was so flavorful but it was cooked well and succulent. The vegetables were sort of an afterthought.
Again, service was fantastic and hospitality was wonderful. Asked for recommendations on wine and received some good suggestions. My water was always being refilled, more bread was brought out, and servers were on hand when needed. The owner came around to see how we liked our meal and greeted us when we were leaving. My friend was concerned that he might have hyped it up too much or that I didn’t believe him how good it would be… pleasantly, it met expectations. I love that some menu items stay consistent but the ingredients/​flavors changes with products that are locally available. Oooh… those spot prawns, don’t ever take them away please.

WOW! We ate here for the first time and we were definitely not disappointment. The food was AMAZING, and so were the cocktails! I had the very delicious and perfectly cooked halibut. My friend had the beef, which had so much flavor and was cooked to perfection! The staff is very attentive and extremely nice! Overall, an excellent experience and I can’t wait to go back!!!

I saw the space before it was rented and the space is gorgeous now. They put a lot of time and money into making it this way. Beautiful!
The staff is wonderful and there are a lot of them.
The outdoor patio is still being transitioned and decorated. It is getting much more private and better.
The lounge here is truly top notch. They serve true crafted cocktails. Fun! They offer a broad selection of wine and champagne and are very knowledgeable about each one which is refreshing! The lounge has a huge TV screen, perfect for watching the game but unfortunately there is very minimal seating.
The food could be much better I think. Small plates with big prices make this more of a special occasion destination than a place where regulars are going to frequent. I like the idea that they’re trying to utilize locally sourced items such as veggies and seafood but the Wagyu Beef has me a bit surprised when Oregon has some of the best beef in the world. You could offer a local grass fed option which would be a hit I’m sure.
The locals are all hoping that you go to larger plates, lower prices and add a few more comfort food items to your menu and start serving that breakfast you had planned on.

Went there last night for a special occasion, and I was not disappointed. The staff was super friendly. Cocktails were crafted the way they should be, and the wine was fantastic. The owner (Ron) stopped by our table a few times to share his enthusiasm and knowledge about the wine selection. We started with the «flight around the world» and ended up buying a bottle of Pinot Noir that he recommended. And by «recommended» I mean he gave us a full on story behind the family that grew the grape, bottled the wine, and how it made it’s way to our table.
We got three apps to share (prawns, and broccoli, and heirloom tomato salad). All were very unique and flavorful. For our meal we got the wagyu beef, and halibut. The portions were not huge, but they didn’t need to be. THey explained that we were in a «wine bar» that also served great food. Every bite was super enjoyable, and when pairing food with the wine it gave us a wonderful overall experience.

Looooooved this! What an amazing experience. Knowledgeable staff. Fascinating combo of fresh, local ingredients. Wine flight was a great choice. The bubbles dessert was strange & wonderful.

We had a great meal here a week ago. Even my 92 year old other, who is not a foodie enjoyed herself and the food. The server was good and knowledgeable about the food. The owner helped us with the wine. Great guy. We had fun.
This restaurant deconstructs their food. That is, they use unusual means to create their flavors. My wife can explain it better. We have been to another place in town that does this same thing. They were pretentious and odd. We did not enjoy it. Here, we got good food, had fun and had an eating adventure. No pretension.
You can eat entrees you chose, but it is more fun to bring 4 people and share plates as if you are in a tapas restaurant. The most entertaining was the shrimp served over hot rocks. Lucious. My mother and cousin loved their crab. I was smart enough to let them have it to themselves. Each dish was served just right and exceeded our expectations. We finished with one dessert. It looked like a bowl full of bubbles when it arrived. The blueberry sauce had air pumped into it. Underneath was a lovely blueberry crisp. We laughed when it came and smiled as we ate it.
This place has a good wine list. The prices are fair. The wine was good and got there in time to enjoy it with the food.
This is not a budget restaurant, but it is well worth the price. We will be back.

What a great new place on the S waterfront. They have an absolutely Amazing happy Hour menu — you MUST try the pork belly.
Dinner was Tapas style & delish.
If you are lucky enough to get a moment to speak with the owner his stories are amazing. His endless knowledge of local wines & champaign made our dining experience one of a kind.
Pay attention to the light installation when you go in the door & hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to hear the story behind it.

I was awaiting the opening of this place for awhile — and I haven’t been disappointed! I’ve been here three times in the past few weeks, and it would probably be more if I had more time during the week. I’m going to mention the service and drinks first. I am usually at the bar, so I like to sit and talk to the bartenders who are incredibly friendly and enjoy what they do. The cocktails are all made from fresh squeezed juices and fresh fruit peels. No pre-​mixed drinks here! And you can taste it. Of course, their wine selection is also expansive.
As for the food, it’s very good. Portions ARE small, so if you’re looking for a hefty portion, this isn’t the best option. But let’s be honest — do we really NEED the portions we are usually served? However, I haven’t tried the more expensive dishes, so I can’t say where those stand. The oysters though… of the food I have had, they are most definitely the highlight! I’m ridiculously picky about oysters, but the flavor and texture were amazing, as was the mignonette sauce. And the dessert. I tried the terrine and it is absolutely heavenly.
In «short,» I highly recommend this place for someone looking for a place with a nice ambience that serves great drinks and delicious food.

Checked this place out on a Wednesday night and was impressed from the moment we walked in. Host was very professional and the server– Sean was over the top in his knowledge of the menu and excellent customer service. We had the prawns and they were served over hot rocks and were to die for! Definitely will be back and looking forward to watching the menu develop.

Get the dessert! My husband never orders anything with a chocolate flavor… but the second time we came here, he requested to have his own chocolate dessert, all to himself – he liked it that much!
