always been one of my favorites. After returning to Portland(gone for 10 years) it’s great to see the place in «ship shape» and the food quality is every bit as important as it always has been. Nice job team.

I take people here for lunch now and then and it’s always very nice. The view is great, the staff is always pleasant, and the food never disappoints. A bit expensive, but for customers or special occasions, you can’t go wrong with Salty’s.

Best brunch and the view is worth the price! Good seafood is hard to come by, but this place is hands down one of the best spots in Portland

Everybody knows who produces the best Northwest seafood Saltys on the Columbia doing that without a doubt.

Nice place with excellent river views. I went here for a company luncheon, the food was outstanding, the service was excellent, the prices on the other hand are ridiculous. If I had happened into Salty’s on my own I would have walked out after looking at the prices. Maybe for a very special occasion but definitely not an everyday casual lunch kind of place.

I want to say first and foremost, this is not a bad place to go. The best thing is has going for it is the location. We were there for a birthday recently and while they do have a fine HH I was not really impressed with the food. I don’t know I guess our friends thought it was ok, but I was not impressed. VERYVERY expensive for what you do get. I got the Rockfish, BF got the salmon he said it was too«smoky». Not a huge selection really. I wish they had more to choose from. Overall the staff is excellent and the ambiance is pretty top notch, oh, and don’t forget romantic! Bottom line, Food could use some work. IMHO. Doesn’t stop me from coming back. I have been going to Saltys’ for a long time. It’s a little further away from home now though. ;-)

Amazingly beautiful and classy atmosphere. View was incredible. The food was top notch, much more than we expected. I loved that the menu was not strictly seafood even though its obviously a seafood restaurant. There were lots of other choices. Service was superior!

Just ok and very expensive for what you get. My husband ordered salmon and it was a very small piece. Again it was just ok. No reason to go back.

This updated review is for my several happy hour experiences here since my first review. The service is always superb – friendly, efficient, thoughtful. The views are impeccable from inside or on the deck. And the happy hour food is tasty and serves folks like me who rely on restaurants to serve and and competently prepare gluten free, egg free options – even at HH. When the Interstate and Glenn Jackson Bridges are jammed and it’s likely to be a 20 – 30 minute wait to get home, it’s an easy pleasure to wait it out at Salty’s with an early dinner. I’m a dedicated fan, and I didn’t expect that a year ago when I wrote my first review, even though that was a good experience. I may even invest in a non-HH priced meal here. Meanwhile, my inner tightwad is thrilled with Salty’s HH.

Excellent brunch… The crab was so fresh and easy to crack. Oysters are amazing and taste delicious. You cannot leave without having a homemade cinnamon rolls!!! Yum

Salty’s is a nice gem for a restaurant that specializes in *fresh* seafood. It’s worth going out of your way here for a special occasion, brunch, or if you’re rich. It will cost you to enjoy a view and have a meal here. The clam chowder is out of the world. It’s not cheap but, actually worth it. It’s so good. The trio sampler is also a pretty good bet. You can make an entrée out of it. The crab cake is also one of the better one’s I’ve tried. The calamari is fresh and abundant. The coconut prawns lack on the flavor front. The trout was PERFECT. hard to describe, but it was cooked perfectly. Fish and chips are alright. It’s a cheaper way to get full but, don’t expect to be impressed. Brunch here is pretty awesome too. Try it if you can, it’s worth it if your budget permits. The food and service here generally stand out.

Salty’s is almost a great restaurant. We went the night before Thanksgiving and enjoyed the meal, but there were just a few tiny things that knocked it down. Firstly, I made reservations and asked for a window table. It wasn’t busy at all, but they still sat us at the far end table. There was an impressive moon that evening, that we would have been able to enjoy longer had we been sat at the other end. $ 12 for a Ketel One martini is a bit high. The chowder was great, but the cup is really tiny. The caesar dressing was pretty weak and a bit watery, probably due to the romaine being really wet. I had the Scallop and Lobster Pie. The filling was really tasty, but it wasn’t really a «pie», rather filling in a skillet, with a piece of sort of stale puff pastry on top. The duck fat fingerling potatoes were very tasty, but not in the last bit crisp. The desserts were excellent, but the best thing about a supposedly high-end seafood place probably shouldn’t be the dessert. Not sure if it’s a lazy kitchen, or no quality control on the pass, but if you’re going to charge big league prices, you should have big league results.

One of the best Sunday brunches I’ve ever been to. 2 types of crab, salmon, shrimp, a crêpe and omelet bar, a bloody Mary bar… a chocolate fountain… Service was amazing and the food was fresh. Great views of the Columbia River.

I’m not a big fan of fish unless it is Salmon, halibut, or cod so this isn’t going to be a normal review… I came here with family and didn’t want fish so I asked for a burger and fries… Lets just say they need to remove the burger from their menu if their cook doesn’t know how to make a simple burger… It was disgusting at best… I took 2 bites of this nasty piece of meat between 2 slices of bread and instantly asked if I could change my order to salmon and mash potatoes… It was soo greasy and bland… Never again will I order a bar item at a fish restaurant.

Classy for sure. A delicious seafood venue. Pricey, but well worth it for the views and ambiance. It has a beachy feel… lighthouses and seagulls and anchors type. The upstairs bathroom is pretty awesome… Which is weird, but also something to note. They have a large bar. Outside patio, which is generally fairly windy, but good for groups. Their happy hour is where its at! They have drink and food specials. A nice place to take parents for brunch or a friend visiting. :)

Came here after we drove to island café and it was closed for the season. Never been before. We ate outside for the view but they only were serving happy hour food outside so our options were limited. If you want to eat larger portions of food don’t sit outside. The clam chowder was amazing and I would drive all the way out there to eat that again, but everything else was just okay to not very delicious. The coconut prawns were alright. The flat bread pizza was gross and nobody at our table could finish a piece. The fish taco was okay. Calamari was meh. Dirty fries had way more peppers than fries and I felt like they should have called it dirty vegetables because we didn’t really know we were eating fries. Maybe the dinner menu would have been better? But happy hour was pretty unmemorable.

First time here with the family. I’d say the happy hour is a good deal and if you sit outside you may get a breeze and a nice view. Friendly service, tasty food, bubbly wine. Go for happy hour or brunch.

The happy hour here was aaaamazing. I had the fish and chips and a blue moon — nothin’ fancy, but boy was it delicious! My friends got the coconut scallops and another got the cheeseburger and everyone raved about their choices, so two thumbs up! The dessert is also to. die. for. I had the Grand Marnier Cheesecake which is a personal cheesecake with oreo crust, and a dark chocolate ganache and somewhere the grand marnier comes into play, but either way it was actually mouth watering good. The best part of our trip, I think the whole table would agree with me, was our server, Jaramy. He was just the best. He made our experience entertaining, smoothly ran, and wonderful overall!

If there was ever a 3 ½ star review this would be it. The atmosphere and views are tough to beat and well worth the full star. Very family and group friendly. The service is solid and worth a half point. Must complain that the last time we were there the main course came as we were in the middle of our appetizers. The waitress asked if we wanted them to take it back and keep them warm. We declined and kept the dishes. The manager made sure that he offered any deserts we wanted for the mistake. I have been to Satly’s twice and the food is solid but not over the top. My guests fish was undercooked the last time and they took it back and cooked it more. Other places would have offered a whole new dish. Splitting hairs to a certain extent. So in conclusion — you need some solid seafood with amazing views Salty’s is your place.
