Worst service ever. We were told our wait time would be 15 minutes for a table, and then watched the host’s friends come in without reservations and get seated right away. We were seated and left with no water or waiter for over 15 minutes. Once we ordered, our appetizer came and we had to flag down the waiter again for napkins and silverware. Then one of the four meals came out. The waiter made up an excuse that he thought we might want to share that meal… What??? The remaining three meals came out 35 minutes later. Horrible, horrible, horrible service. Our waiter wouldn’t even make eye contact with us when he repeatedly walked by. 2 hours later we are trying to flag someone down for our check. The manager said that a new special on the menu was causing«timing issues»… Super disappointed. Will not be back.

Honestly, I’m surprised by some of the low star reviews of this place. I moved out of town a few years ago but every time I come back, I have to come to Stanfords. Last year I came for Christmas Eve dinner with a large group and they had great service and fantastic food. Maybe people are ordering the wrong items? If you come here the salmon is a must! I’m very picky about the salmon I eat and where it originated. I won’t order it at most restaurants because it is overdone. Every single time I’ve been to this restaurant the salmon is cooked perfectly and they’ve been consistent over the years. This time I ordered the salmon with the lemon aioli and rice pilaf. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. I requested asparagus instead of the broccoli and that was an excellent choice. My mom ordered the Caesar salad with blackened salmon. It was also cooked to perfection. In the past I’ve had the prime rib and flavored mojitos. They are all very good. My favorite part of this restaurant in the wait staff. My mom comes in alone quite often. Hamid is a long time server here and as soon as he saw her, he came over to say hello even though he wasn’t our waiter for the day. The staff is just so friendly and they do such a great job!

So, it took some time for the host to acknowledge that I had arrived and about 5 minutes ticked by before I was greeted and sat. I ordered something to drink and it arrived about 10 minutes later(much too slow). I ordered the Brie which was incredible, Caesar salad which was accompanied with a piece of garlic bread and a lemon wedge(excellent touches) and then one of the specials, sole Oscar, as an entrée. The sole was breaded and pan-fried, lots of crab, béarnaise sauce had a good viscosity, and the mashed potatoes plentiful. Presentation of food was dead on. The hot food was hot and the cold food cold. The portions were large providing a good value, especially for the very reasonable prices. The ambiance is welcoming. Not too dark or too light, Christmas music at the proper volume playing in the background. Timing was paced properly, the entrée hit a little early, however I may have threw them off by taking time to pen this review. I would definitely rate this 5 stars, if only the service was a bit quicker.

Stanfords is an interesting place. It is kind of like a little bit dressier version of Applebees. In that regard I like it. Last time I was there was over the summer after a Beaches Crusin Event at PIR. The prices in here are a tad high for quality of food but they try to make up for it with that slightly upscale atmosphere. A good solid spot I suppose.

Had lunch Sunday at Stanfords. I ordered a cup of Fisherman’s soup & Oyster crackers, but they have the Saltine crackers. Fine, I’ll take it! It was just perfect size & it was delicious. Only one thing was, it was WAYTOOHOT for me. The ice(if there were any, on my water had melted so there was none to put on my soup to cool it down a bit. I have to scoop 3 teaspoons of water, then, and only then I could taste it. DH had the fish and chips. The fries all came in various lengths, mostly short ones, less than 1″ long. .. like something you’d find @ the bottom of the package? The atmosphere of the restaurant was clean and pleasant — there were plenty of diners but it wasn’t overcrowded. The Asst. Manager took the time to ask about our meals, and I mentioned to her all that was wrong and she could see what small sizes fries left on my husband’s plate. Not too appealing! I wouldn’t serve 1″ — 2″ fries to my guests, would you? Where’s the quality controller when you need them? The restrooms are some of the best in town. All in all, a pretty good meal, served up by friendly people, in a fine atmosphere. OH, one more thing: He did got a good portion of coleslaw!

Our calamari appetizer was so overdone it looked like crispy onions you put on a casserole. Ordered medium rare filet and shrimp. It came well done and the shrimp tasted like plastic. Potatoes were cold and the $ 91.25oz. Cocktail was terrible. So, besides this visit, we got sick after eating here the 2 previous times. Can’t say I’ll be back.

They pulled the Smoked Chicken Linguine off of the menu… again. They also started charging $ 2 extra when substituting a baked potato for French fries. So annoying!!! Service was good and the food was also good, but the menu change and the upcharge soured us on the whole experience.

Dined at Stanford’s last evening. This was not the first time I dined there but had a small group of 5 and needed to get in without waiting. Service started a bit slow with no more tha 25% of the restaurant populated. The food was very good, but when a couple of assocaites ordered desserts, they arrived 20 minutes later. The server stated that she was overwhelmed. The last time I dined at Stanford’s a glass of wine in the bar area took 20 minutes. I will not return as I don’t accept poor service twice. Sorry… F

I absolutely loved this place and it would have 5 stars if it were only less expensive. Everything else was great. Our host was friendly and nice, and when we asked for a little speedier service as we had an event to get to, the waitress came knowing that and delivered on that request wonderfully. Our food was wonderfully tasty(I had a combo beef steak and crab encrusted halibut with brociltini and sauted green peppers special ordered) and the seating was in dim light with wonderful music. I could not have asked for more in a dining experience except for personally wishing for it to cost a little less, but honestly worth it for what I ordered and the quality.

Randomly picked Stanfords to have dinner. Never heard or been to this restraunt before. I had ½ order baby back ribs and my wife had prime rib sandwich. Both of our dinners was very good and reasonably priced. Fries were very crispy with light sea salt flakes and very good. Will be back again.

Our waitress was slow and just not present whenever we needed her. We had to ask to have our waters refilled several times. It was freezing in there to the point where I went to the bathroom just to wash my hands– but the water was freezing too. They were also playing a sublime song in the bathroom about«capping his ass» which doesn’t bother me but seems odd for a family friendly place. My sandwich said it came on a bun and showed up on bread. Really hard bread. My aunt said her burger was dry and my cousin hated his sides(of which there wasn’t much of a selection). But it’s the service that made this a bad experience. I’m giving it two stars only because despite it being on bread my sandwich was really good. Also it’s more expensive than two dollar signs I would say– the wine was literally higher priced than at the soccer stadium in Portland. Jose the busser was on point and very polite. He gets 5 stars.

It’s a chain that doesn’t taste like one. A little pricey but I always enjoy coming here. The food is overall pretty good if you stay at the lower end of the menu. I personally think it gets worse on the high end like their steaks, but your mileage may vary. Their soups are just awesome. The overall feel and décor of the place is more cozy than bar-like with plush deep booths and leather everywhere. The high drink prices keep the rif-raff out, mostly, but I like their food to much to stay away forever. My apologies to the multitude of seniors who give me and my friends the gimlet eye, we DO try to stay out of your way in the bar area. I also appreciate the generally good service and they do own up when they screw something up which is thankfully rare. I have yet to have a bad experience. Because their menu rotates pretty frequently I don’t really have a favorite dish, but their burgers are damn good and as I said before, their soups are almost always delicious so I always have a bit.

HAPPYHOURREVIEW 3:00−6:00pm Daily; All night Sunday 9:00-close Mon-Thur; 10:00pm-close Fri-Sat Food Deals $ 3.95-$ 7.95 Insanely huge menu! I’m addicted to the Southwestern salad and the BBQ quesadilla, so don’t experiment much with the other 20 or so items. But my friends all report good things about Happy Hour here, and always have. Drink Specials $ 4.00 drafts; $ 4.95 wine; $ 5.95 wells Atmosphere One of six local Stanford’s. It’s expectedly nice. Not on the river, but there’s an outside patio. Big central bar surrounded by cooshy booths and some cocktail tables. It’s my go-to before grocery shopping if I have to go to the Safeway nearby. I hate grocery shopping. I hate cooking. But I love happy Hour :-)

No idea where all the negative reviews come from, this place exceeded all my expectations! Started the evening with a delicious and plentiful grilled artichoke appetizer which was cooked to perfection, continued with a tasty house salad, and finished the meal with a well cooked halibut fish and chips for the entrée. On the drink side, I had an adequate Basil Gimlet as a warm up followed by a tasty Deschutes Brewery summer brew which went perfect with the fish and chips. Wasn’t really feeling the dimly lit environment but the food alone made me a future return patron.

Lets just say… NOTGOOD! This is why we never go to chain-type establishments. OVERPRICED, small portions, not great food! That describes Stanford’s, any location for that matter. I had a $ 30NY steak that was about 3⁄8 of an inch thick that tasted like nothing. Stay away…

Worst meal I’ve had in years. I had to throw $ 20 worth of food in the trash. Stanfords used to stand for quality and their meat was delicious and done well. The last few years, since they went corporate and sold out to a chain, the quality has diminished to the point that I won’t ever go back. The burger I got this time was basically the same taste and consistency as a hockey puck. The salad was wilted and unappetizing. The onion ring appetizer was ok, but the onions weren’t cooked all the way through. The dips and sauces were good, but probably came from a jar somewhere. Plus, with nothing to eat with the sauce, it’s pretty useless. This is for all the Stanfords, not just Jantzen Beach. But this meal was the last straw.
