I frequent this video store and appreciate the fact that it still exists despite our current Netflix/redbox culture. I was in there today and witnessed an interaction with a very young attendant working with a couple that spoke very little English he was kind, friendly and patience with them. He seemed to have a real connection despite the language barrier was really sweet to see.

I love this place! I am so happy it has not gone out of business like most of the other video rental stores in town. There is something really satisfying about being able to walk through a video store and browse through the movies. The staff has always been welcoming and offers recommendations when I ask. It’s also great that you can rent a new release movie overnight for just $ 2.00. The video store also operates the gym next door. Since the gym is open 24 hours a day this means you can also rent movies 24 hours a day. Awesome!!!

I stopped giving this Videorama store my business months ago. I wrote two emails to the store expressing my displeasure, but they were ignored. The customer service there was hit and miss, with a couple of employees being really nice and others just being the stereotypical snobby video clerks. How cliched, right? I tolerated the rude employees for many years because I wanted to support a local business and they had a better selection than their closest competitor, which is Redbox, but those days are over. The final straw was when I went in and couldn’t find a movie title… yet again. Their categorizing system there is really confusing and I would usually have to ask where a movie was located. «It’s in the staff picks section, duh». Oh really? I’m supposed to know that The Hunt for Red October is in the staff picks section? Okay. So, on this final visit, I walk up to the counter to find two female employees engaged in a conversation. They look at me and continue to talk with one another. I wait and wait… and wait, until finally one of them sighs and comes up to me. I ask for the title and she vaguely waves her hand to the rear of the store and says, «It’s on the back wall». I try to clarify exactly what she means by «the back wall», but she just repeats herself. Not surprisingly, I look on the back wall and cannot find it. She sees me NOT finding the title and just stays at the counter. Finally, I give up and I walk out of the store, promising myself never to give them my money again. I’ve held true to my promise. I don’t wish that they’d go out of business, for they are small and local… I just wish that they would care about their customers a tad bit more.

videorama is a fine video store with a huge selection. nice and easy. they have a creepy gym attached to it, as a second means of profit that you’re almost forced to peer into while you’re paying up. no big deal, capitalism can ugly some stuff up. The manager, a tall, blond haired dude who looks like a giant five year old is a bag of douche and made me cringe every time i went in. is it fair to negatively critique an establishment over one employee? yes. do i wish for him to fall into a man hole and have to scavenge through poop for vermin meals for the rest of his days? yes. He thought it was funny to speak to me in a different accent every time i went in. he’d talk to me about star trek when i wasn’t renting any star trek. he’d have loud obnoxious conversations with co-workers about beuwolf and try to pull me in like we were all buddies. we weren’t and aren’t. PS everyone else who worked there was very nice and i wish them the best in all they do.
