Five stars for the best Indian food(vegetarian) I have ever had in NC. Very friendly staff, the owner is super-nice.

Since the ownership change roughly 6 months ago, the place has sank quickly. The prior owner took pride in his food, he was friendly and always made SURE you were happy. The new owner cares, sometimes. It was still ok during the transition, as the old owners wife stayed on for a few weeks to help with their recipes and getting the new owners accustomed to what the regulars(like me) liked. Once she left, everything plummeted. The last time I went, they served me the worst, most inedible supposedly«hummus» Ive ever had. Granted, Ive eaten there 50 – 60 times since they opened originally and never had a problem with the hummus, or anything else. I asked the manager what happened to the hummus? He went and tasted and came back and said, «yeah, its very off. Someone else made today.» And walked off. Um, no. You just admitted to serving me «off» food and that’s it. You just walk away? So I called him back over telling him I couldn’t eat it, he said, «don’t worry, I’ll make it right.» Fair enough. I figured he’d offer to replace the hummus with tabouleh or chick pea salad or any one of the numerous sides. But no, he never came back. At this point, Im a little ticked and a couple walks in and up to the counter, telling the cashier they had never been there before. She asked for a recommendation and he asked if she likes hummus, and she replied that she loves it. So I decided to step in, it was like watching a slow motion trainwreck take place before your eyes. I got up and said loudly so the cashier, the owner and obviously the customer could hear it «if you serve her this nasty excuse for hummus, she will NEVER come back.» The owner walks over, and says«I told you I’d make it right.» To which I incredulously replied, «When!!! Next time? What if there isn’t a next time? You think Im gonna come back for this? You should have ‘made it right’ now.» And I showed him the uneaten hummus that I threw in the trash and walked away. Since I used to like this place, I didn’t blacklist them altogether, I decided the appropriate punishment would be 90 day probation from my lunch rotation. Today, 90 days being up, I went and they were closed. A nice Afghani family were sitting at the outdoor tables. They said the owner had an appointment at 1PM to meet them to discuss selling the business. This was at 2:15PM. I cant imagine why his business is failing. I hope the nice Afghani family buys the places and restores it to its previous goodness. I would love to have some Afghani in the area.

The vegetable biryani is delicious. It took a few extra minutes because they made it from scratch and it was worth it. I love Indian food and I’m really glad we finally have a place here in Wakefield with really good food.

Everything changed when owner left. No reason to eat here any longer. Changed into Indian restaurant with fairly blah food and service. It’s really a shame.

This place is now Tava Indian bistro. I’ve been here once so far, and it’s the best curry I’ve had. I really enjoyed the food and it’s affordable. The atmosphere is lacking. But it’s more of a take out place. They also deliver which is great.

This really exceeded my expectations. You come I and see a very plain décor, nothing tacky, but not wow(as if I was coming here for that anyway). The people working here are polite and hospitable. They don’t make you feel like you need to hurry up and go. I got the classic gyro and my wife got the chicken tikka masala. Both were extremely tasty! I have bad allergies right now and could still taste the awesomeness! Tikka masala had that home cooked feel to it. Chicken was so incredibly tender too. We shared a mango lassi that was nothing short of fantastic! Gentleman working here checked on us a few times to make sure we liked it(we did). We will be back fo sho! Hopefully with people.

They are changing the name to Tava Bistro and now carry Indian food as well as all the item from previous menu. I tried their Indian food couple times and really liked it. I had chana samosa once which was tasty. Another time I had ordered paneer tikka masala with paneer paratha and I really loved it and it was tasty and was made spicy as per my request. They are the first Indian restaurant around wake forest and they have lot of potential. I moved from different state and could not find any Indian restaurant nearby and I am so glad that they serve Indian food and it is now my regular to go place.

The Mediterranean food is awesome! We have enjoyed the gyros, falafel and grape leaves. The vegetable accompaniments are super fresh. The buffet presentations are beautiful. This is an organization that takes great pride in their products. And they have branched out into Indian cuisine and this is also superb! We moved to the Triangle from Chicago and have missed the Indian foods we so enjoyed there. The Tava Indian Bistro offerings(within Baba Ghannouj Wakefield) are authentic, tasty and well-presented. We have most enjoyed the Samosas and pakoras, with their accompanying condiments. The chicken tikka is awesome and the curries are complex and spicy. We look forward to trying more of their dishes! We are so excited to have excellent Mediterranean and Indian cuisine north of the Triangle!

This place was an awesome Mediterranean place. They recently changed owners and /or management. It looks as if it is being transitioned into an Indian café. For now, the food seems to be the same(tasty!!) but the service is God awful slow. The new owners don’t seem to know the menu they are serving. After a 30 minute wait, we finally got our food. It was incorrect and incomplete.

Love this place! The owner is very engaging and the food tastes fantastic. It’s very casual and I would suggest going for lunch rather than dinner, which makes sense based on the pricing anyway. With the options of shwarma and gyro you get the best of both worlds. Shwarma with hummus is unbelievable, but gyros with tzatiki sauce seem to be better known. The beef/lamb is well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and downright delicious.

The owner is a blast and really cool to talk to. The hummus and the whole gyro platter were great. Stopped in for a night out with friends. We all have some dietary restrictions and all were met easily.

The food here is ok. I had a shawarma combo with a side of namoura(not sure how to spell it. My meat was extremely greasy. Yuck! The namoura was simply ok.

My family and I eat here at least once a week. The owner is so nice and always willing to accommodate our very large family and their special orders. His prices are fair, portions are nice, and the food is always fresh and delicious. In the same shopping center as the movie theatre, stop in the next time you see a film! I recommend the: Chicken schwarma pita Gyro pita Greek salad with chicken(ask for different spice level if you like spicy) Platter with lamb or chicken. Grape leaves(heated is delicious) ENJOY!

Definitely the best Middle Eastern restaurant in the area… Fast, fresh service. My boyfriend ordered the Greek gyro and I ordered fatoush. The fatoush was great, but when I tried the Greek gyro, it was so good, my boyfriend ordered another one. I just found out there’s a location closer to me! Hope it’s as good as this one.

Went here for the first time today for lunch and got my food to go. Seems like a really nice place. Very clean. The guy behind the counter was extremely nice. You order at the counter. Seems like a good place to eat. I really enjoyed my lunch. I got the classic gyro and a side of the chickpea salad. Both were very tasty. I will definitely be going back.
