Went here a year ago for my brothers birthday dinner a d they were pretty good. The service was good and the sushi was better than I thought. However this year when we went again for my brothers birthday it was horrible. The sushi tasted horrible. The first difference between this year and last was that you know have to request black rice for your sushi. The sushi my family and I did order was nasty and the textures were way off. The sushi rolls all came out hot, even the ones that weren’t supposed to be tempura or deep fried and the rice was so over cooked it was mushy, slimy, and kept falling out of the roll the moment you touched it with a chip stick. The service was also horrible. There were enough chefs in the kitchen so there shouldn’t of been an issue with delivering the to costumers. The restaurant was pretty dead for the first 45 minutes we were there and we still had to wait almost 30 minutes for our drinks and then after that another 35 to 40 minutes for our orders. When our cups were empty the waitress didn’t even offer to refill our cups unless we said something. By the end of the night we were having to walk up to the counter to even see if our orders were being made considering at this point maybe two more people walked in. Once we did leave the restaurant, about 20 minutes afterwards we were all starting to feel sick. I really wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. For what they charge it’s not worth it.

I love this place. We go there a couple times a month. I love the black rice! I was a little intimidated by it at first but it has a better taste and is healthier than white rice. I love to get the lion king and luau. They blend extremely well together. My friends LOVE the 911. The Godfather and Cowgirl are also very popular in my group. The only con to this restaurant is sometimes, the sushi takes way too long to be made. My boyfriend will eat his sesame chicken bowl and I haven’t even received one roll. But trust me, it is worth the wait. Oh also, My boyfriend HATES sushi but at Sensei, he will actually steal some of my rolls whether or not I approve him to do so.

Totally has fell off. While their portion sizes are nice, their price increase in not. They have started to put less meat in their rolls and way more rice. Customer service has fell off as well. I do recommend their teriyaki chicken bowls, great bang for your buck and delicious.

I’ve been here twice and both experiences were similar. Quick service, good sushi, and free miso soup! :) Server was polite and food came relatively fast. I love the Golden California roll. Not the most amazing sushi I’ve ever had, but decent food at a good price.

Sushi has way too much sauce, too much rice! Deep fried items were cold. The best roll was my daughter’s veggie roll. I have had nice service before, but unfortunately on this occasion, we were not even checked on once! Not a «would you like another Pepsi» or anything. So crazy. Service subpar. There is a «Now Hiring sign» at the door, so maybe that’s it. I would not recommend this restaurant, and will not be coming back!

Had the sea steak, cowboy and luau rolls and all were very tasty. Two from the 50% off list and no apparent difference in quality. Service was very attentive. It’s a bit of a drive from my house but we’ll be back.

I always see this place when I’m in the area, and noticed that they have the 50% off sushi rolls. So, I went in during their non-busy time and ordered take out, I got their hot n’ spicy roll. I was actually surprised that the rice was purple, this was the first time I’ve had purple rice in sushi. Order didn’t take too long, about 10 minutes wait. The roll was decent, the sauces had a bit of a weird taste in my mouth, but still edible. Though I am reluctant, I would give it another go. Parking is super easy because it’s in the same plaza as the 99-cent store and other nearby businesses.

First time here… Lunch specials are great! The actual rolls are amazing but when they say spicy they mean it! They also do Deep Fried rolls not too common from what I’ve seen. My daughter loves the purple rice… They also have veggies specials

They’re getting better. I’ll give them three stars because their service is very friendly! Some of their rolls taste the same. I wish they had more rolls half off and not just the ones with imitation crab…

Sensei means teacher or instructor, which in this case is ironic because the food tasted like elementary students made this sushi. First off, let’s talk about the elephant in the room that everyone notices but doesn’t talk about here. And that is the reddish rice. Maybe its supposed to be brown rice, but it tastes like crap and they make all their rolls and nigiri with it. Um, I spent several months in Japan and reddish rice on nigiri is simply laughable, and it made the nigiri taste horrible. Their not so fresh fish was sad as well. And their gyoza was a joke. It needed to be thawed out more before it was pan fried. Awful all around. And their cold tempura, super salty miso soup, and fake imitation California roll just topped this off as being one of the worst Japanese restaurants(in my opinion) in Sacramento. Holy smokes Batman, this place is a dud!

The best sushi we’ve had in rancho. We almost always order of the 50% off menu. I’ve had: Crispy Cream Crispy Cream #2 Viagra #2 Golden Cali Crunchy Dragon Sunset Bonito Fiancé Spicy Garlic Avo and a few others that are only listed on the restaurant in-house menu. Their sushi rolls are AMAZING. Fish is always fresh, the deep-fried rolls don’t taste like oil, and the ingredients are quality ingredients, used in tasteful quantities. The service is always kind and helpful: We’ve ordered to pickup so many times, we usually get a free chili edamame or extra roll and they know my boyfriend by name & face. We’ve also had some of their appetizers, salads, and other offerings. If you’re going for sushi rolls — 5STARS hands-down… If you’re going for bento boxes, udon, soba, etc. I wouldn’t really recommend. While the sushi rolls are impeccable, the rest of their menu doesn’t really impress. Not for the price, at least. Also, the mochi must not be made on-site, the dough is super thick and VERY hard to chew.

So I went here with my girlfriend because she was craving sushi. I have driven by this place several times before and never thought about it. So one night we decided to go here. The place was empty(it was near closing). So we looked ar the menu with 50% of rolls. That was on of the best menus we have looked at. She got the pick Cadillac roll. She said the roll was amazing. I had the cowboy roll and crunchy dragon. First time I ever had a sushi roll with tri-tip. The rolls were amazing. The edamame was OK. They all were supposed to be heated up but my girlfriend and I both had some that were really cold. The atmosphere of the place was really nice. I loved the lighting and the music was today’s modern hits. The fish tank I had one giant fish. That fish looked lonely. But overall it was a good place. We both enjoyed it very much. And we spent less than $ 25 for the both of us. Amazing prices. I will be coming back!

Great wonderful place to take the family or a lovely date to. I highly recommend it for a date!!! There is a very beautiful large fish tank and a big screen tv to watch something on. The lighting is low for the setting and music playing in the background. The servers are very nice and outgoing. Very helpful to those that are not sure on what to order. As to I never had a bad experience. In terms of location, not the best, but it’s between Chipotle and the 99¢ store, but right off the 50 highway.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s close to my stomping grounds. I tried this spot three times. And each time, my food was terrible. Foremost, making sushi is an art. And their rolls look like an amateur made it. Secondly, the rice they use for their rolls is made with purple rice. I know what kind of rice it is too. It’s white rice made with beans to give it the pronounced coloring. Plus, the rice vinegar is missing in the sushi rice, or they’re not using enough of it. When I order sushi, I go by the fish that’s served in it. If you look at the menu carefully, you’ll notice rolls that cost more have the same fish in rolls for a lot less. Just a different crafty name.

They’re very creative with their food. I came in for lunch and realized that they had black rice which is a superfood on the menu. The server sat down and talked the menu over with me for about 15 miniute a because it was a slow day and he had the time to do this. I also realized that he also did this with a little old lady, which is awesome to get such amazing customer service from such a tiny place. When my order came out, I was surprised to see that the rolls that I had ordered had tasted better then most of the other sushi bars. Maybe the black rice had something to do with it! It was too bad that I only went in for a snack because everything that I ordered was so delicious and the staff made me feel very welcome. I will return sometime when I have more room in my tummy to taste some more of their superfood wonders that they have to offer.

Located right off the 50 freeway. FOOD They have a 50% off menu that’s fair. I had the sunset roll(asparagus center and tuna) that was good. The rice is purple. I don’t know the reasoning but it tastes like sushi. The rolls have a bit to much sauce. AMBIANCE Very casual and relaxed. There’s a tv behind the sushi bar and on one of the side walls. There’s also a huge fish tank in the center. Pretty cool. SERVICE The waiter and waitress were really nice. Good service. Side note. No more all you can sushi. They got rid of it.
