We visited this place this weekend and the experience was wonderful. Great food, friendly waiters, delicious appetizers and desert. Nice atmosphere. Very clean, cozy restaurant. We will be going back. Highly recommend it.

I’d like to say 3.75 or 3.5 — the service was not what I would expect for a 4 star place but unfortunately Unilocal doesn’t let me do that. There were many positives. We were a large group and making the reservation was a pleasant experience. The meal got off to a rocky start — the bruschetta was disappointing and the bread took a long time to get there. The wife got the hummus which was good. The entrees were excellent. Since we were a large group we did get a variety of items: — The vegetables got a good review. I would recommend not getting this though as some of the other items on the menu can be made vegetarian as well. — The Mediterranean Pasta was well appreciated across the table. — I got the smoked salmon linguini which was thoroughly enjoyable. It was creamy and the salmon went well with the dish. — The Salmon special was excellent(according to the two gentlemen at the table who ordered it). — The Tiramisu, homemade, was juicy and flavorful The portion size is good. The food is good. The ambiance is intimate enough if you get a table for two by the window. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

Strong 4 close to 5 stars :) I came here for my bday with my family. I tried their cream salmon and cram pasta. They liked every items! The service was good, the price wasn’t super high. Great spot for bday or special occasion, and for your date too!

Very good food, our waitress was very friendly and had a conversation with us other than just for our orders. My wife had Bart’s Chicken, delicious. I had the special Lobster ravioli, I wish there was more to the portion but otherwise delicious. We will definitely eat here again.

WOW, bring a pillow and blanket cause you’re in for a wait. The poor attitude at the strip mall Italian restaurant down the road led us to Sage. But in hindsight, we should’ve threw in the towel on Italian for the night. Located on the corner, Sage has a wonky triangle layout. We were greeted immediately and sat quickly but that was perhaps the only positive of the night. We had close to 10 minutes with the menus before being approached by the server. Our server came frazzled and first words were«What do you want to order?». Um, how about some drinks first? We ended up ordering both at the same time, but ended up waiting 1 hour and 15 mins to get our entrees. During the span of that hour, neither our server nor the other 3 that were standing around mingling with other tables bothered to approach the chef or our table to provide an explanation. The complimentary loaf of bread was inedible, hard as a rock and left intact by almost every table. The pasta itself was good — the Angel Prawn and Clam Linguine were well portioned and came with a good serving of seafood. The linguine was far too al dente. My dish, the Wife’s Favorite, was the least liked of the night. The grilled chicken«breast» was more of a cutlet, much too thin and dried out. Having flown in early the same morning from the east coast, the last thing we wanted was a 2.5 hour meal that lasted close to what would’ve been midnight in Boston. Though palatable, the mediocre atmosphere, long wait, and price point doesn’t put Sage on the list for a return.

I can’t believe I’ve lived in the area my whole life and I’ve never even heard of this place! What a gem. Great restaurant for a casual or nice night out; the ambiance is such that you could walk in wearing something dressy/sharp or, like I did, straight from work wearing a t-shirt and jeans, and not feel out of place. I went on a Wednesday night, and it was decently full, but not so crowded that we had to wait for a table. The staff in general were very attentive, and both the food and wine were stellar, especially considering the prices! The prices for the entrees and pasta dishes were more akin to something I’d see in the south end, not for the yuppie Redmond area(~not~ that I am complaining, mind). We didn’t try any of the desserts this time since we were too stuffed full of amazing pasta, but they looked fantastic. I will definitely be back, even if just to try the walnut cake or their house specialty, chocolate fondue(must order in advance!). Why four stars and not five? The wait time for our main dishes was absolutely atrocious. We were there for two hours, and considering we were seated immediately, ordered within minutes, and had our bread and salads minutes after that, that tells you how long the wait for the food was. I felt a little bad for practically inhaling my pasta, but by the time I got it, I was starving. Yes, we had bread on the table, but why fill up on bread when you’re anticipating delicious pasta? Sadly, based on other reviews I’ve read, it seems like a long wait for the food is the norm. =~ Overall Impression: ≅ Nice ambiance, attentive staff, and delectable food. BUT: don’t come here if you’re in a hurry!

Sages is one of our favorite places for a nice night out. The food is always consistently good. The waitstaff is kind, helpful, and very professional. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable yet quiet, and fancy without being pretentious. It’s a little pricey, but about what you’d expect for the area, and completely reasonable for the quality. Their bruschetta is tasty, and the Bart’s Signature Chicken is excellent as well. I usually get the filet mignon just because it’s always so tender, and I love the sauce(even though the penny-pincher in me cringes). That said, the other dishes I’ve gotten there have been excellent as well, so it’s hard to go wrong with anything you order(pasta is cooked well — not too soft, not al dente). The Bart’s Brownie and the Tiramisu are both fantastic desserts, if you’ve got room.

I’m not a pro or even an amateur food critic, but I love food and eat a lot of it. Here is what I think of Sages: Atmosphere/ambiance-simple design, an attempt to look refined but with limited resources. An unfortunate street level view of condo construction currently(2015). Family and friend oriented, I wouldn’t go here for a romantic evening but fine for a general date. The wait staff I’m sure are friendly but tonight someone may have called out sick as the same person seemed to be helping every table. Additionally he may benefit from better product knowledge specifically an ability to describe specific wines(they have a large wine list). I sense the restaurant is trying to be trying to work towards an upscale dining experience but doesn’t yet have the revenue to do so and are stuck in limbo. Atmosphere/ambiance-3 Price-the price was a bit high for the quality of food offered and ambiance/service. Prices reflected a more upscale dining experience which this was not. 2.5 Bread was luke-warm and very dry, not appetizing. The caprese appetizer had well balanced taste and was refreshing. Their signature dish of stuffed chicken was good, veggies cooked well, nice light and sweet marsala sauce. The blend of goat cheese matched with the chicken proved to be both flavourful and filling. Disappointed with the wine pairing suggested by the waiter. The wine and food separately were both quite good, combining them canceled each flavour out rather than enhance. Homemade tiramisu done very well, with mouth watering whipped cream was the winner. The cappuccino had decent taste but was made more like a latte with a little extra foam(too much milk). I’d be interested to see what kind of espresso machine they are using as it tasted too consistent to be a lever espresso machine but I may be wrong. Food– unfortunate issue with the bread which at an Italian restaurant should be a staple. Perhaps it’s an off time/day but there needs to be consistency. The rest was well done but not what I’d call«memorable». 3.75÷5 Overall– Good food and a bit pricy. The lengthy waits due to understaffing was annoying and hopefully not the norm. Again it wasn’t an overall memorable experience but I’d stop in again when in the neighbourhood to try something new. Deserves a 3.5 but the ratings don’t allow, and as I’m a jerk and have high expectations I tend to round down and not up. Hopefully I can round up after my next visit. Cheers,

After all the positive reviews, I was really looking forward to eating here, but it truly wasn’t anything to write home about, or even to finish. The service was lovely, and the ambiance was fine, but I don’t go to restaurants for those things — I go to a museum. We ordered the Greek salad, the cioppino, and the signature chicken. The Greek salad was fine, the cioppino was fine, and the signature chicken was barely edible. The ingredients just didn’t taste fresh. The wine was also mediocre and overpriced. In fact, the whole meal was a bill worthy of five stars, which is a pity on a two star meal.

I love Italian and decided I wanted something a bit more upscale so gage Sages a try. Went early on a Saturday and other than an extremely loud bachelorette group loved the look and feel. Service was stellar. Waiter didn’t rush us and gave us attention without hovering. He was great when my friend wanted a red pasta made into a garlic/olive oil sauce and even made a good suggestion for another change. Food was overall good with a few minor misses(hence the 3 star). I ordered the pork tenderloin. The pork was really flavorful but dry from being overcooked. Veggies served with it were really good, but it was on a bed of something mashed that was a bit flavorless. My friend’s pasta was great and really fresh and flavorful. Overall will give them another chance to try some addition items. Could be a romantic place to go on a date or special event. A bit small, but nicely done.

I come here solely for one dish: the wife’s favorite pasta. Definitely a unique name for a delicious dish that I think the best on the menu. I always tell myself I should branch out and try other items on the menu but I just can’t help ordering the wife’s favorite each time since its that good to me. The only downside I see at this restaurant is the wait time. Today I arrived with my friend at 8pm sharp, we ordered food within 5 minutes, and it wasn’t until 8:40pm when our food arrived. I think it’s worth the wait for the food, but don’t come here if you are in a rush!

The KMN dinner club, an assortment of six friends who go out to dinner once a month, dined at Sages Restaurant, in Redmond, Washington on Saturday night, 1÷17÷15. The restaurant makes reservations only for parties more numerous than five. We were glad to have reservations as it was crowded in the entry and we were seated promptly avoiding the wait. The menu which is on-line offers a generous selection of different dishes. I saw several items of interest, but after imagining the available tastes, I decided not to order an entrée but to start with a bowl of clam chowder followed by their ravioli dish. The restaurant was offering a lobster ravioli as a special, but I ordered off the menu and chose a pear and Gorgonzola ravioli topped with candied walnuts because: candied walnuts. You would be right to question my judgment in ordering two dishes prepared in a cream sauce. And while I admit that it could have ended badly, luck was with me and it all ended well. The chowder was prepared with a white broth which was only slightly thickened. Rather than the salty sauce as thick as pancake batter which is all too often confronts a diner, the chowder at Sages was on the light side with a slight flavor of clam juice and fresh herbs. The chowder was loaded with tender clams. The complimentary ciabatta bread was rustic with a hearty crust and went well with both the soup and the pasta. The ravioli was perfect. The pasta was substantial but had lost its chewiness. It was tender without losing consistency. The flavor carried a touch of sweetness which was balanced by the bite of the Gorgonzola. The sauce, in contrast to the soup, was rich and creamy. Every bite was delicious. And did I mention the candied walnuts. My wife ordered the cioppino. I had a sip of her broth and it was rich without overpowering the seafood. Chef Bart, the owner waited on our table. He is a charming host. One of our party needed clarification about the preparation of a menu item and he knew both ingredients and the way it was prepared. He also helped us select a bottle of Italian Pinot Gris for the table. Those who had a glass were pleased. When we get together, we like to talk. We are older and a couple of us wear hearing aids. Noise levels and acoustics can be a problem. There are about twenty tables at Sages. The majority of tables are arranged in one large room. We may have been one of the louder tables, as most guests were seated as couples. We had no problem hearing each other, in part because there was no background music. Music has a tendency to ratchet up the decibels and raise their voices to be heard. We were not prepared to leave before a little sweet. Other’s at our table ordered a walnut cake and a brownie a la mode and were very happy with their dessert. I went with a scoop of their coconut and chocolate swirl ice cream with a little decaf and found it a refreshing finish to a wonderful meal. The price of the main dishes ranged between $ 15.00 and $ 25.00 which, given the meals, was reasonable. When the table check came there was an added gratuity of 18%. I get stubborn about added gratuity and do not increase the stated amount. On the other had, we have had checks where it was difficult to determine whether a gratuity was added. Chef Bart took the time to make a personal note on each of three credit card invoices that the total included a gratuity. I appreciate the fact that he took the extra effort to make the bill clear to us.
