Always ate at this place when I visited friends in the area. It was the best place for cheap but good quality sushi. They have plenty of tables and in the past they would be completely full when I come in. Plenty of basic roll options for $ 3 to $ 3.50 each, and good portion of fish within the roll itself without being too much rice. They also had a great fried ice cream. The entrée dishes are also prepared very well, at different times I’ve had the chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and eel on rice dishes and they were all of great quality. Walked by the area last week and was disappointed to see that they had closed.

I love the place. The food is great. BUT from a couple of experiences, I believe it’s the owner, she has a really bad attitude and yells a lot! I’ve ordered takeout here once also, and it took them almost 2 hours to come 3 blocks down. Yes, that was lazy on my part, but I got caught up in a movie and realized my food was not at my door after the movie ended.

First time eating here. The sushi was fresh and tasteful. The price was right, the service was fast. Nothing that would totally blow your socks off, but marginally better than the competition and a marginally better price.

Really great/fresh sushi. Great service at a very reasonable price point. The food is always consistent, never had a problem. Nicole is just fantastic :)

This place was delicious for their price.(And I am from Japan) I’ve eaten at a lot of places that serve sushi, but this place is reliable. Pretty much anything you order, they have a great quality. Personally, I thought they should invest in a better quality wasabi and soy sauce to for better flavor.

I just went through the craziest/weirdest shit with this place. I order my sushi from SAKESUSHI, NOTCHIKURIN. I took their number(sake sushi’s) off of Seamless and placed my order. When my food arrived, the receipt said Chikurin, so needless to say I was confused. I checked the number and the address off of Seamless again, and both did in fact belong to Sake. The woman on the phone was basically like, «oh, same owner! same food!». Considering that I got food poisoning from this place a few years back, and they are notoriously filthy, I wasn’t having it. She argued with me on the phone for 10 minutes basically saying that their rolls were better, that it was the same owner, that I shouldn’t just write them off, and to take a chance. The whole situation was bizarre, but she ALMOST convinced me… until I pulled their health grade up. Evidently 2 months ago they had mice. When I told her that I did not intend to keep the food because they had mice, she pretty much goes, «oh who doesn’t?!». I was floored. Supposedly, someone is coming to get the food and I’m getting a refund. ***update*** delivery man came to pick up the food and tried to say this was my fault. haha, too much.

This place is really popular in the neighborhood. I think its the go to sushi place for most people. I been here so many times lost count over the years. They have a great lunch special, two or three rolls with soup for salad for under $ 10 fair deal. Service is good ask for Steve. I really like their sushi variety. Great rolls that are very fresh. My favorites are the Moscow& New york and spicy tuna roll. If your looking for a good deal and low key sushi joint this is the place for you.

3 rolls and a soup or salad for $ 9(lunch special). yes, please! After traveling in Ireland for a week, the first thing I wanted to eat after I get back was inexpensive sushi! We called our orders in from the airport and picked up our food 20 min later. I got the spicy salmon, spicy tuna and salmon and avocado rolls. Each roll came as 6 pieces and fit perfectly in a sushi box that supermarket sushi comes in. The fish to rice ratio was perfect(i.e. not too much rice) and they were not stingy with avocado at all. The pickled ginger goes perfectly with my rolls. YUM! drooling just thinking about it. The salad was pretty standard and consisted of iceberg lettuce, strands of carrots, 2 pieces of cucumber and a slice of tomato. The ginger dressing was good. Boyfriend got eel avocado and rock and roll(eel + egg + cucumber). I believe there was an up charge for eel rolls but not sure what that was since he paid. The rolls hit the spot for me and I was happy from a full tummy of delicious sushi. I am not a big connoisseur of sushi but it felt pretty fresh to me! *no clue about the ambiance or service. purely a take out review.

If your looking for a comfy, low key sushi joint in Queens, this may be your destination. Chikurin is very well known for being clean and making tasty sushi at very affordable prices. Their Lunch specials vary between items such as Chicken Teriyaki($ 7), Two or Three Roll combo($ 7 – 10) that comes with miso soup or Salad. Im a big fan of their spicy tuna roll, highly recommend it. They serve all their food neatly. It was once infamous for being a date spot, but after Bamboo-ya opened up a few stores down(Same Owners), Chikurin hasn’t been the same. More on Bamboo-Ya Later. What I enjoy about the food here is that its not overly sweet or salty. From year of ordering from them, its always remained consistent. Huge Plus for any location. Go get your Maki Roll On!

Very rude service, the Asian woman upfront rids the customers quickly with her horrible attitude. And the Sushi never seems to be fresh.

From the many years of my indulgence here, it’s a great establishment full of memories. Thinking bout Lunch? The lunch specials are adequately priced and filling, but I’ll recommend their rolls since I think its a steal for the quality. Everything is fresh and portioned nicely. The server was great, friendly, and attentive. Checked up on us multiple times to ensure we were satisfied completely, which we were, with our order.

This is an ok place wouldn’t say the best sushi I have tasted. The rice is either burned or not cooked enough. I wouldn’t recommend this place to people in my opinion. I dont have enough words to describe this place.

I’ve been here several times now over the past few years and I must say, it’s much better for lunch than for dinner. You have to order right here and standards such as spicy tuna and such seem a bit bland compared to other sushi places. I’m not sure but it doesn’t look very appetizing. However, they do specials pretty well. I’m not sure if this would be my first choice for sushi as there other better places around.

I love this place because their Yaki Udon is the best and their Sushi is pretty fresh and delicious. I love the Moscow roll. Also, the price is decent for this area compared to the recently opened(last year) Bamboo Ya. Also, their green tea ice cream is the BEST! Not a lot of places serve the bitter darker green tea ice cream. I love that they serve it here and when you order it to go, they give you a lot! The only thing this place could improve this place is the ambiance. I think it needs a freshening and needs a bit of cleaning. It’s just a bit worn but everything else from service to food is great.

The food here isn’t all that to crave for. I only come here as a last resort sushi spot. So for all sushi lovers, I’ll search for a new location. The wait is usually long as well if you plan to dine-in and the service is really bad. It’s one of those places where you seat yourself and wait for a server to come. Today, I just walked in for a pick-up. I asked the lady if it’s possible to get extra ginger(because I love it with sushi) and she looked at me as if I were asking for too much. I’ve been here around 5 times or more, and each visit was the same.

The soups are really good and shumai is super good too, but thats about it. My boyfriend likes the panther roll also. Stay away from the squid/calamari, frozen never fresh. Tried to order a bottle of water but they didnt have any. Then tried to order an orange juice which i was told they had only to find out they didnt have it. Prices are kinda high for certain things. Shumai is soooo good, but i like fresh food, not frozen garbage with stringy things. Lost my appetite after the third string thing was pulled out of my mouth. They’re basically waiting for us to leave as i’m writing this. By the way, don’t expect an enriching english experience. You’ll be lucky getting«okay» «no problem» «no» «here you go» «thank you» and«the kitchen closes soon».

We were craving sushi so we decided to try Chikurin on a Wednesday evening. I had been here once many years ago so it was nice to try it again. It wasn’t too crowded and we were immediately seated. Service was great, friendly and fast. The space is small compared to Sake but it’s good enough for a neighborhood eatery. Very clean and spaced out. We ordered: Spicy salmon roll Salmon avocado roll Shrimp tempura roll and two special rolls: F roll Panther roll All were delicious. The rice was just slightly hard but that’s only if you’re really inspecting every nitty gritty element. The spicy salmon roll was actually spicy. Shocker because most places do not have any spice in the spicy salmon roll. Ironic. I really enjoyed the special rolls and would definitely order it again. Food came out relatively fast and our tea was always refilled. I would certainly come back or order delivery.

I used to love this restaurant. But not anymore. I was here on a Wednesday afternoon with my friend. We shared an order of spicy tuna roll. I took one side, he took the other. Service is great and the sushi is delicious. But a few minutes later my stomach started feeling sick, like I wanted to throw up. I looked up stomach ache remedies online. One remedy is to drink ginger ale. I bought ginger ale at a nearby 7 eleven and ten seconds later, I threw up twice on the streets of Queens Blvd. Since that time I stayed away from sushi for six months. I’m never going back to Chikurin.

I’m a bit surprised about the bad reviews this place recently received. I’ve been here about 10 times in the last 2 years and I’ve never had a bad experience. The service varies from very good to ehh. I’ve never experienced bad service though. The place is never packed and I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for my food. The food is usually good — and super cheap! Miso soup, avocado salad, california and boston rolls, and hot tea — and I AM A HAPPYGIRL!!!
