Probably my mistake for stopping in as I was running back to work to grab a salad. But, if you aren’t going to even try then why have it on the menu? I’m giving two stars because the lettuce and tomato were fresh. I added chicken to the salad, assuming I’d get chicken cooked in house, since it’s all over their menu, but received what appears to be ‘formed chicken’ ala foster farms refrigerated sliced chicken. For the price and quality, go to La Bou for a garden salad with chicken. At least you get some bread with it there.

Looking for an interesting lunch near the state capital? Do you like jerk-chicken and other Carribean foods? Café Connection offers great food, good prices, and nice location. I had the jerk chicken in roti bread(a Caribbean tortilla) with a salad for $ 9. Very tasty chicken, the wrap was delicious, the salad was a nice spring mix with blue cheese. Loved it all — and had to save ½ the wrap for later because I was stuffed! Nice view of the capital lawn and all the walkers at lunch. Fast friendly service. Five Stars!

Recently I realized that I haven’t been to Café Connection for awhile. The last time I had been there, several years ago, I liked the food but somehow it fell off my radar. One day walking down that stretch of L St. I can smell the rich spices coming out of Café Connection and it made me want to check it out again. Oh man, I’m not going to let time go by and not lunch here again. I’ve had the jerk chicken plate and the curry chicken plate and both with salad($ 7.50) are Very delicious. The jerk chicken is grilled and Spicy(I like!). The curry chicken is rich with spices, is warmly spiced and delicious. I really enjoy the rice and beans to accompany each, but am looking forward to trying the coconut rice or the mains over salad. I am glad to have re-discovered Café Connection. I won’t be a stranger again.

Lunch served with a friendly face and a warm attitude: the owner is so welcoming and kind. The food is delicious. I’m so glad to have stumbled across this gem of downtown. I’m not jerking you around, this place is great.

This place is GREAT! The owner,(Ken) is so friendly! My girlfriend is half Trinidadian and she says that his Roti skins are the most authentic she has had in Sacramento. She visits her family in Florida who cook real Trini food and Ken’s recipes are spot on! Chicken Curry Roti is the best! The restaurant is comfortable and the ambiance puts you in the Caribbean mood! Sometimes Ken has dance events with a Caribbean DJ playing Soca, Chutney and Dance Hall music!

The curry chicken is VERY good and the coconut rice has black eyed peas in it and is yummy too. The red beans and rice are just as yummy as the coconut rice and black eyed peas. You can get a little of both if you get the plate. I can’t wait to taste the oxtails, the cabbage and chicken stew, and the jerk chicken. Oh and the owner was very nice.

Just a short walk away from work in downtown Sac. A co-worker recommended this place for fine Jamaican cuisine. I was not disappointed in their curry chicken plate. Hefty scoops of delicious curry chicken on a bed of rice and beans. I will be back to try their daily specials which also sounds splendid.

stopped by here with some buddies on a recommendation, did not disappoint. The owners Debbie and Ken are very cool, Debbie fixed us some lunch and it basically felt like being over at a friend’s house. Connection is a great name for this place b/c it feels like the type of place you just end up talking to people. Jerk chicken, roti wraps, and chicken curry were good, gave me & friends kind of a high afterward tbh, almost like we had some beers with it. Also I was a little sick that day and Debbie made me this Canadian green tea with lemon to help my sore throat, free of charge. MVP

The jerk chicken and curry chicken plus salad with Thai peanut dressing makes a great combination! They may not be the friendliest people in the world, but the food is quite tasty. I would totally like to see this place open on the weekends; with a little better marketing, this place could be a total star. For $ 8 at lunch, you definitely can’t go wrong!

I will admit, I haven’t had a tonne of Caribbean food. This place, I must say, was a pleasant introduction. The curried chicken over rice and beans was deliciously spicy, and the salad wasn’t much more than lettuce but came with a delicious Thai peanut dressing. The prices are fair, and the owner was very nice. The hired staff was rather blunt and unhelpful, but hey, they work retail. I can’t be too harsh. It’s incredibly convenient, within view of the Capitol on L Street. I’ll be coming back on future visits to Sacramento.

Curry chicken over dirty rice was delicious! Beef empanada wasn’t good at all. I’ve had better. Will try the chicken empanada next. Would be nice if person preparing food was nicer and more accommodating.

The case of the Mondays is strong in this one… Removing stars for slow service, rude staff, and patty shortages. With no one else ahead of us in line at 11:48 am, it still took 20 minutes to order our food and pay the cashier. He messed up my plate somehow along the way and changed his tone to frustration. If I ever come back for a patty and they are«sold out» but fully stocked in attitude again, then I’ll be over this joint for sure!

During a recent visit to Sacramento I was very pleasantly surprised to find this place! It is literally across the street from the Capital Building. Quick and easy access to work places. Very spacious and clean! Best of all the food is unique and amazing! The atmosphere is like a bit of an oasis against the rush of people outside. Island music plays lightly in the background. The owner was very helpful in helping me select menu items. I was happy to learn that the food is homemade. Everything is made fresh on site! You walk in and the aroma of spices will transport and as well as relax you. I felt inclined to experiment on different food and spices that I wouldn’t normally eat on my own. I really did not think I’d find a locally owned unique spot like this! Very impressive indeed. You will have a great experience! Food was great!

Originally I was searching for Jamaican food. Can’t find many places in Sacramento, so figured this was the best best thing. There were only 4 Caribbean options available for lunch, and they were out of one of them. The food was good, but I would have like a larger menu. The restaurant is a bit convoluted, having a coffee bar, American sandwiches and salads, and then the few Caribbean options. The soda fountain was broken, so we had to spend $ 1.50 on a can of soda, which I don’t prefer because you can’t get refills. I probably wouldn’t go back only because there’s not much else I would want to try.

Ok since going for my mom who wanted patties but they didn’t have them, mind you menu says serves daily, maybe I read too much into that. So she settled for jerk chicken. According to my mother a native Jamaican«they tried». Nothing else needs to be said. I guess when you don’t know better, you would think it was good. If it works for Sacramento, then more power to them.

This place is right across the Capitol in Sacramento. And if you are walking outside the restaurant you can smell the delicious food. Every time, I pass by this place the food smell makes me hungry. So today, we decided to try out this place since I forgot my lunch at home. So sad. . I went in and sampled the chicken with potato curry. After I took one bite, I knew this is what I have to order. The restaurant has a strange name. It’s a Caribbean restaurant. You can see the pictures of the food outside the window. And the name of the restaurant is written in small writing and you don’t know where it’s located looking at the sign. Anyways, the food was good and I will definitely go there again. I recommend people to try the chicken curry. It tastes like indian food. And you get salad and beans on the side too. It’s a really good deal for $ 7.50.

I ordered the veggie curry lunch plate and a small house made Sorrel(hibiscus drink) for only $ 11 plus tip. The food was delicious! The curry is more similar to an Indian curry than a Thai curry and was not too spicy yet very flavorful. I also thoroughly enjoyed my drink. Sorrel is fuscia in color but not sweet, like a good herbal tea. If you park in the building, they will give you a $ 5 parking voucher for you if you buy at least $ 5 of stuff from them.

BREAKFASTBURRITO for the win! Ask for curry potatoes in place of regular potatoes for extra spice in your morning(but they’re not super spicy, just the perfect amount of tastefulness) They also have Peets Coffee bar that’s super yummy. Pros: lots of options, curry potatoes, friendly Cons: not very fast…

Solid, reasonably-priced and very flavorful lunch make Café Connection a great spot for you to check out soon. I came in with a friend on a thursday around 12:30 and there was a bright and homey vibe as we waited in line. They have daily specials, plates and a-la-carte meals to go or dine in. The tables and chairs could be more comfortable, but the window and outside seating looked much better. I wanted more tropical music, it was rather eclectic. Service with a smile! We ordered after asking a ton of questions and paid easily with the gentleman at the register. You can tell they like to chat with the regulars, but it didn’t slow anything down. Main dishes are ready buffet-style while salads and sando’s are made to order. I had a delish chicken curry plate at only $ 8 with tax. It was packed with flavor without being too spicy. There was so much perfectly cooked white meat I was surprised they make any money. The salad was nice if a bit frilly and well dressed with lots of interesting options like the zesty thai peanut one I had(too zesty for me). The rice and beans were well prepared but lacked much flavor. My friend had a large salad with lots of fixins and chicken and was stoked on the price. Get out of the office for a quick, tasty and well-priced lunch over at Café Connection.
