Love this place. I didn’t want to like it because I normally go to Ambrosia, but someone suggested this place right before the holiday and WOW, I was impressed. I’ve been back alot and try to sneak there once in awhile to change up from Ambroisa(they are good also, no disrespect), but this group really knows how to make a good coffee. It can be a little crowded and the side room is like someone’s living room which means people sit for long periods of time. No complaints. Nice customer serce and good coffee.

Wow. All I have to say is get the bacon breakfast sandwich! We randomly happened upon Chicory before our drive to Lake Tahoe. They have so many flavors to add to your espresso drinks, and like I said, those breakfast sandwiches were so delicious. The prices are reasonable and it seems like the location is ideal if you’re in Downtown Sacramento.

The coffee is not amazing, but it does the job. If you bring your own cup, it’s only $ 1.00! The soups are really good and they have about 8 different kinds to choose from. The food is getting better… the pastries are still just ok, not great. One cool perk is that if you’re a regular, you can set up a prepaid account and skip having to pull out your wallet if you’re there every day.

Sometimes you just get tired of Gary’s basement coffee!(if you work at the Capitol then you know exactly what I mean.) convenience means nothing when you want better coffee and chicory delivers. Great caffeinated and non caffeinated drinks(mmmmexican hot chocolate.) plus a cozy fireplace room you can enjoy. Its Perfect for catching up with friends in the winter time. You’ll most definitely run into a lot of familiar faces. Everyone comes here in the morning just like everyone goes to ambrosia for lunch. I usually come in mid workday when its empty and order myself something strong to get me through my workload. It usually makes 5 O clock come faster. Enjoy and Happy drinking, yall!

I love this small little restaurant. When you walk in you think it’s tiny little place but it’s a L shape and you can go at the back and seat too. It’s nice and cozy like previous Unilocalers mentioned. I bought the chicken Cajun breast sandwich. I think the sandwich was simple and good. It’s a simple sandwich and nothing special but it was good. it cost $ 6. I liked the atmosphere inside and my friend loved her soup. Soups are very cheap there $ 4. This place does not accept American express. So you better have cash or other forms of credit card.

I’ve just realized I haven’t wrote a review for this place! Shame on me! My co worker and I make trips here during the cold season so we can sip on our warm coffee by the fireplace. Other times, we would have lunch here, although not as often as we like. Their clam chowder is delicious! But you’ve got to beat the crowd because they do run out of certain soups fast before noon. I’ve never thought about getting iced coffee here until recently I’ve discovered how addicted I’ve gotten with their iced white chocolate coffee! Staff provides friendly service, what more can you ask for? :)

My first visit to the Capitol also included a quick coffee run. There’s a Starbucks down the street but this coffee place blows that out of the water! I had an iced Americano and loved it. There was a great selection of sugars(from Sugar in the Raw to the gross blue packets) and milk at the condiment bar. I sat in the table area for a bit and made a mental note of this place for the next time I visit Sacramento. It’s a super cute and relaxing spot to have a cup of coffee and get some work done on your laptop. Hope to be back soon!!!

Love this cozy coffee shop! Staff is always friendly, and very accommodating — that’s why I’ve been going here for over two years now. :) I like the fact that everyday they have different food items so you don’t get tired of same thing. I love black bean breakfast burrito, however, I don’t see it anymore(please bring it back at least once a week). Morning star, florentine, samosas, quiche are all perfect for breakfast(I get it for lunch sometimes). Love broccoli cheddar and crab soups. Mexican Mocha, Chai, Matcha tea latte, Green tea latte(with almond milk) are the best! Most of the days to stay in shape, I just get black coffee(light/medium roast is pretty good). Love the atmosphere, it’s not too big, but makes it cute and cozy. It gets busy really quick around lunch time, and in the morning breakfast time. So most of the time I would call to make sure they have what I want :)

Had a delicious cookie shaped and decorated like a daisy. It might have been vegan, I’m not sure. I would gladly pay more than the 2 $ to have one of these cookies again! Flaky, light, refreshing splash of lemon in the icing, and beautiful, this cookie was dreamy and delicious. Will definitely come back if only for that.

So good! I got the rip roaring crab soup and it awesome!!! I’m tempted to go back and get another cup. It was $ 4.88 for a 16 oz cup and you get two breads with it. Not a bad price and it so good. I can’t get it outta my head.

This place is awesome in the winter time. The soups are great and the décor is very cozy. I’m not a huge fan of their mochas, chai lattes, or chicory coffee(tastes kind of like dirt), but their normal coffee is fine. They also have Freeport Bakery goods. Come early if you want soups, because they run out fast. The soup prices are awesome, $ 3 will get you a bowl of soup with bread and butter. Definitely one of the cheapest and best lunch deals in the area that everyone knows seems to know about judging from the lines at lunch.

I come here when I don’t feel like going to ambrosia. Lol. Cause I really like their chai tea latte and their scones. It’s a cute café right across the Capitol Building. And the line sometimes can get pretty long. They have a separate dining area when people can reserve for a private meeting or something. But when it is free there are nice individual couches by the fire place that makes me happy cause its so comfortable.

Sort of cozy, well located, meh coffee. The opposite of hip. Sort of an independent Caribou Coffee.

Chicory. I absolutely love this place. It is by far my favorite place to get my chai tea latte with almond milk. What other helpers have written about it is right on. The latte truly is like heaven in a cup. When I started working in Sac I was definitely looking forward to this place and it did not disappoint. That’s why whenever they were closed it was a sad day because I desperately craved my chai tea latte. The chai tea latte isn’t the only thing I would have from Chicory, I tried their Mexican Hot Chocolate which was great as well. They have gluten-free cookies! So I was thrilled to have one with my lattes. The service was always great, it is very busy in there since they are located across the street from the Capitol, however I still loved going there.

Chicory is a great place for a quick breakfast and/or lunch! Food: I love their breakfast burritos and soup. One of the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever had was the turkey, bacon, egg, and cheese burrito. Their shrimp and corn chowder is my favorite soup. Really, really good! Be aware though, their soup sells out quickly; they sell out before 12:30. The small is about $ 2.50 and a large is about $ 3.00; it’s a good deal! Side Notes Ambiance: Considering the limited space, there’s decent amount of seating. There’s a private room with a fireplace. If you’re lucky, you can grab a spot by the fire and relax. Service: The service is always great. Staff is very friendly! Overall: Try their breakfast burritos and/or soup!

My new favorite lunch spot! DECOR: This place is literally set up to look like your grandmas house. It has a fire place, several cozy spots to sit including a full dining room table and lots of interesting décor. You feel like you are at home when you eat here. For sure has a «homey» vibe. FOOD: I had the chicken basil soup. The soup had finely minced veggies in it, rice, chicken and potatoes. I expected the soup to have more of a broth but it ended up being creamy. It has a cream of chicken/clam chowder feel to it. Very yummy and filling. I was so full by the time I finished my soup. They do have lots of other soups that I can not wait to try. I also saw in their cold case a bunch of yummy salads that looked fresh. I am going to try one of those next! SERVICE: The staff was nice and they brought our soup out quick. No complaints. Overall, really great place, This is most certainly a hidden gem. Now I see why the Capitol crowd flocks here. This place is a nice escape from the office. You leave refreshed and full. I will most certainly be back!

If you’re looking for a cozy coffee place in downtown Sacramento, you have to visit Chicory Coffee & Tea. Chicory has a variety of coffee and tea. Not the greatest coffee in the world, but it works as a pick-me-up. However, what I love about Chicory is that they have the perfect snacks/meals that are not only yummy, but semi-healthy as well. On days I forget to pack my lunch or are just lazy, I can always count on the chef at Chicory to have something delicious and healthy waiting for me. Little cups of Quinoa, hot soups and fresh salads! Super friendly staff. There’s a fireplace in the seating area. Coffee + fire = instant coziness. Also, if you choose, you can sit outside and enjoy a perfect view of the State Capitol. Definitely a great coffee shop to add to the many wonderful spots in downtown Sacramento.

I love Chicory! The drinks are well crafted and options plentiful. The prices are better than Starbucks and so are the baristas. What takes the coffee cake for me is the extra room for seating. I feel like I’m in a ski lodge or some home from Fine Living. There is legiterally a working fireplace and seating for at least 20 people. My only area for improvement is offering more snack options and a grab n go case. And better signage for the bathrooms.

A rather weaker brewed cup of coffee. Popular only because it is right across the street from the Capitol. They have a nicely decorated inner room where I had to past thru to get to the one unisex bathroom. The key to the bathroom is at the counter. They even had a table reserved. Lots of discussions were going on inside and outside the café. There are a few tables outside to chat. We tried the 16 oz cup of mocha. Not too sweet but not very strong. I would still rather have Starbucks
