The meatball sandwich is great and could legitimately fill-up two adult men. The other sandwiches aren’t all that great. The bread is medium quality, the«avocado» obviously comes from a tube and the meat doesn’t taste freshly sliced. Not too busy at lunch, friendly staff and customary/reasonable deli prices.

Service: As my first food experience in Sac, Tony’s did the city proud! These were some of the most pleasant folks I have experiences in Sac. The cashier was very helpful by suggesting options. Atmosphere: Standard deli space with an array of convenience store options. Great selection of beers, although I am not a beer drinker. Seating area available but would not recommend it during this time of year. The doors were open so it was quite cool. However, in warmer weather, it could be quite charming. Food: I usually do not order meatball subs, as it tends to be too much meat for my taste. While such was the case here, it was a positive. After a 6 hours of fight and mere plane beverages, the meatball sub was a great option. Placed on a delicious sourdough bread, the sauce was to die for! Topped with pepperocini and provolone, this sub will sustain you through 2 meals. It was complimented with a pickle and San Francisco potato salad that made me question my Southern alliance with regular potato salad. Tony’s is worthy of one more visit before I depart the West!

LOVE coming to Tony’s! Whether it be on a quick lunch break or leisurely lunch with the family this deli has you covered! The owner, Elias, is always warm and welcoming and the staff is upbeat and attentive. My «go to» has always been the French Dip, but whenever I step out of my comfort zone, I have never been disappointed. The staff have great suggestions and can help you customize your favorites. Tony’s also has amazing sides and a large selection of specialty beverages, beers and wines. You won’t be disappointed!

Love the food, but the service, though kind, is so very slow it makes it nearly impossible to go there for lunch. If you have two hours, it’s great.

I used to eat here every day on my lunch breaks. Their staff is fun and friendly and always makes great recommendations if you’re tired of the same old — same old. It’s usually pretty packed right around noon so if you can hold off until 1 or 2pm you won’t have to deal with the line. Ask for Matt’s Turkey Bacon special with the Honey Mustard. It’s not on the menu(even though I think it should be). I have many favorite sandwiches at this place(BBQ Beef, and Prosciutto Ficci to name a few). Side tip: They also make little smörgåsbord of goodies if you’re at the wedding dress shop next door. I’ve seen them hand deliver on slow days!

First time today. The line was long due to some convention and apparently they opened just for this convention. OMG! SLOW, SLOW, SLOWCOUNTERSERVICE! 7 to 8 people behind the sandwich counter and it took over 20 minutes just to order! Bad first impression. There were no tables available at first. Then we realized these people who sat at the tables were waiting for To Go orders but taking up tables. There should be a separate area for the To Go orders so these people won’t take up tables for the Dine In people. One old bitch even lied that she was waiting for a big party but it was just her and some old guy and they had a To Go order! The meatball sandwich was gery good and so was the turkey cranberry. The cranberry made the bread soggy and fell apart. The meatball sandwich could have used another slice of cheese. I would go back if they weren’t busy or the wait is way way way long.

This is my first time trying this place and it made a very delicious first impression! I got the salad sampler because I was looking for something on the lighter side. I got the pasta salad, chicken, and greek cucumber. They were all great but the pasta was my favorite out of the three. I will definitely be back to try the sandwiches next time! The service was awesome. They are very friendly and the line moves quick! I was able to get in and out in 10 mins during the lunch hour.

I never liked sandwiches until I came here, and now I’m here at least once a week. So many wonderful choices, from salads to gourmet subs you can never make a wrong selection here. Also the employees are wonderful. I recommend everyone I know to come here if they are in the mood for some good food!

Went here last Thursday after a stop over downtown and decided to see what Tony’s had to offer. After looking through their menu I figured to go with an old favorite, the meatball sub. Overall size was fantastic and the bread had just the right texture. Every bite was oozing with rich hearty Italian sauce and the meatballs were absolutely delicious. I genuinely look forward to trying more to provide an even fuller review. 4 out of 5 stars for Tony’s Deli.

Tony’s is a recent discovery for me… I can’t believe that I have worked less then a block away from here for the last five years and am just now aware of the awesomeness that is Tony’s. What a waist of five years! lol. Since venturing into Tony’s for the first time a week ago I’ve been back nearly every day and am eating my way through their amazing menu… haven’t come across an offering of theirs that I haven’t loved yet. Just called in today’s order… going with the meatloaf sandwich and can’t wait to get it in my belly! lol. I just can’t say enough good things about this place! The staff the food, it’s all amazing. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, do your taste buds a favor and stop into Tony’s!

This is my favorite sandwich spot in Sacramento — I eat here at least once a week for lunch, maybe more. They’re sourdough bread is absolutely phenomenal as well as the Genoa salami. Service is amazing — highly recommend. Can get extremely busy around lunch time so you should go before 12 or after 1.

Monterey turkey sandwich was everything you hope a sandwich should be. The herb bread had just the right balance of bite and softness. The bacon was smoky and the avocado was creamy. The only downside was the ambiance. It felt like I was eating in a mini mart.

Love the French Dip sandwich here. Its like 7 – 8 bucks for a sandwich but it dominates subway. Don’t let a long line deture you, the service is fast.

Great spot for a good quality sandwich. Family owned and operated, and the staff has barely changed in years! The owner and his family are personally involved and it shows. Sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients, the selection is good, and they have rotating specials as well. I enjoy the California Club(turkey/bacon/avocado) and recently had the Sicilian, which was the daily special(Italian meats, sun dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella) and I can’t wait to have that again, it was fantastic! Sandwiches are a little on the pricey side, most are around $ 8, but the quality is far superior to a Subway or other chain. Besides the sandwiches they have a wide selection of chips, snacks, bottled drinks, beer, and fountain drinks. The seating area is a good size, but the tables are small and I have seen it full several times. There are also a couple tables outside if the weather is nice. Lines can get very long around lunch, and sometimes it moves slow as it takes a while for them to prep and make the sandwiches, so come early if you can. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been before.

One of my favorite places to go for a sandwich. My go-to(which I apparently go to every time I go here) is the meatball sub on the onion roll. In my opinion, they have the best meatballs around. I asked them once about their meatballs and they said they’re handmade, everyday. Their marinara is top notch. The pickles are always fresh. I’d comment on the bread, but by the time I get to the sandwich, it’s already deliciously soggy from the meatball and marinara. I just had one a few hours ago for lunch, but talking about it now, I could go for it again. Anyways, aside from the meatball sandwich, their turkey havarti is really good, as I’m sure all their other sandwiches are. All very decently priced and even though it’s a bit more than a $ 5 footlong at subway, I’d gladly pay more for one of their sandwiches than one from Subway. Tony’s Deli is also a corner mart. They have a variety of cold drinks, from sodas to beers, snacks, and some other things. Plenty of seats and tables inside, as well as a few outside, and there’s a TV inside for your TV watching needs. Their workers are real nice and very appreciative of your business. Go here if you ever get the chance. It won’t disappoint.

If you want a decent and cheap sandwich, Tony’s is your place. I got the meatloaf sandwich, and man do they give you plenty of meat. The meat loaf didn’t blow my mind, but my cheap side likes getting my money’s worth. It was about 6 dollars for my sandwich and it was made pretty quickly. I also tried their Cesar salad, but I was disappointed. It felt like a prepackaged salad. The hunt for a good fresh cesar salad continues :( Note: For those of you coming here for the first time, you order at the counter on the left and pay at the front register.
