It’s loud, it’s bold, it’s breakfast! Normally you don’t think of these words in the same sentence, but when you think about the hustle and bustle at Original Pancake House, it is just that. Loud: Tons of families and friends gathering for some awesome food. Booths and tables all around depending how big your party is. Big or small, there’s a wait! The toddler next to me is currently exclaiming, «I’M GREAT!» Bold: Flavors that step away from just eggs and toast. Whether you want tastes from the Netherlands or even the Southwest, Original Pancake house has it! I’m gonna have to try that Jalisco skillet next time! The coffee? Yep, I’d say pretty bold too! Breakfast: Open ’til mid afternoon, they have everything from pancakes to crepes. I usually have a half order or biscuits and gravy. Rick buttery gravy with biscuits and unusually cut has browns. It is so good! And so, on this gorgeous Utah morning I am prompted to say this is a great breakfast spot with a huge menu and some unique choices too. Camilo was a great waiter, checking on me, making sure everything was good! Yes Camilo, it definitely was. Thanks for the great service! Off I go until my next return.

Had a great breakfast with these guys. There wasn’t that long of a wait despite it was a holiday. Had A very nice waitress that gave me a military discount. I ordered the Elvis waffle with a side of there hashbrowns and sausage. It was really good if you like the peanut butter, bacon and banana.

I love breakfast food, this place did not disappoint. I ordered the Dutch baby, it was huge. It tastes like French toast, crêpe and pancake all in one. I also had a side of bacon, the pieces were big and yummy. The place was busy, but since there were only two of us, we were seated immediately. Service was ok, not bad, but could’ve been better. Will definitely come back again

Well, the entire visit started off on the wrong foot. The server was clearly not happy to be at work. Which is understandable because work sucks… But we all suffer through it so at least make an effort to provide some semblance of decent service. Especially if you expect tips. The food was decent, coffee was average. Now here is the reason for the 1 star: My bill came to 13 $ and some change, I tipped 4 $. Totaling 17 $ and some change… I received two charges from pancake house. One for $ 13.16 and another for $ 20.16, when I noticed this I called them and they said it was an error with their card processor and they would refund ALL the funds. 5 days later, nothing. I was in the area so I stopped by and talked to the person at the front, she told me that I would receive the money with in the next day or two. I did get a refund for $ 13.16 and they kept he $ 20.16 which is more the my total with tip. Now you think when a business screws up they would err on side of the customer and refund the larger wrongful charge, and eat the tip. But no instead they lied to me and stole my money. So in summary, I shall not return. Despite that their pancakes are essentially the heroin version of food.

Great place for breakfast. They have a ton of offerings and do a kick-butt omelet in the style of a calzone. I think it’s 4 – 5 eggs, and they finish it off in the oven. I have never finished an omelet here, but it does make good leftovers surprisingly. The pancakes are kind of a rip-off but pancakes usually are. The granola is good and the coffee is better than you’d expect. Service is typically good, and the coffee refills come around regularly. Prices are reasonable for what you get. This is my «go-to» breakfast place when my parents come to town. It’s just a very solid breakfast with good service in a clean and inviting environment.

My group thought we were going to have less people than we did and the staff could not have been more accommodating for us which is unusual in this kind of establishment. My friends and I were all extremely happy that we were able to go in there and get a table relatively quickly and then even get a bigger table right away when we realized we have more people than we thought! The omelette that I had was soooo delicious. I mean I have trouble saying that anything is bad when there is avocado on the top but it was amazing. Unfortunately I cannot remember which omelette it was but the eggs were nice and fluffy and delicious! Also almost everything comes with a side of delicious pancakes. Just so you know the syrup is fake but that is the only problem with this place so it’s really not that bad. The cups for the coffee were a bit small but the wonderful servers are obviously used to this because they kept coming over to make sure that we had enough coffee which was nice. I would go back here again because they were so accommodating and the food was delicious. Definitely worth it.

When we first walked in, I was disappointed by the atmosphere. It felt like a low-quality diner, Denny’s-ish. But I was quickly impressed with their broad menu and how great all the food looked. Staff works hard. I got the waffle combo, two eggs, two strips bacon, and a fruit Belgian waffle. They don’t skimp on piling the berries high on the waffle. Paired with strawberry syrup and homemade whip cream… It’s to die for. We went to the new Sandy location after. Food was just as amazing, and the atmosphere there is much better. It was almost an hour wait, but we bypassed it all by sitting at the bartop.

This food never disappoints. The only reason it is missing that fifth star is because it was so hot in the restaurant and no air and our waters were consistently low and we had to ask many times for a refill. The food was fantastic. I had the California omelette and it was amazing. Perfect egg to filling ratio. Their potatoes on the side were meh, but I also had the pumpkin pancakes which are basically one of the most delicious things I have ever had. My husband had the chocolate chip pancakes and those were also great. He had the biscuits and gravy which I also tried and they were also delicious. The fresh squeezed orange juice is also an absolute must. Overall our meal was fantastic and we will be back. Hopefully next time the service is a tad better.

Service was great I wish I got the name of our server. I have had the breakfasts burrito and the roadhouse skillet. The skillet meh… My veggies were under cooked and the onions weren’t caramelized. The burrito I got smothered and it was great!

With 2 new locations in the Salt Lake Valley, it is becoming much easier for me to get my Pumpkin Pancake, or THEDUTCHBABY(A German Oven Pancake) fix without having to wait 2 hours, which was fairly common when there was only the one location. The menu is Extensive, which is both awesome and overwhelming at times. As far as pancakes go, the sky is the limit. If you can think it, they probably have it. As I mentioned before, they have Pumpkin pancakes, so for all of us rich entitled white girls, this is a pretty big deal. What’s better is that they now offer them 12 months of the year instead of just during the fall. For those wanting to try something that(as far as I know) you can’t get anywhere else in Utah, go for THEDUTCHBABY. Aptly named, for when it first comes to your table, it will be roughly the size of a small infant. But don’t wait too long to snap a food selfie because there is always a little shrinkage. THEDUTCHBABY is a combination of eggs, flour, butter, and awesome that is then placed into an oven until it has reached it fluffy apex. But lest you think it can’t get any better, there is also a version that is best described as the love child of An Apple Pie and THEDUTCHBABY. Just trust me on this one. In my opinion, I feel like most places overcharge for pancakes and these guys aren’t much different. Also, be aware that these aren’t dinner plate sized cakes the way that places like Penny Ann’s or Black Bear do, they are a modest sized cake, but they come in a myriad of flavors and toppings. Go for THEDUTCHBABY apple pie love child, and then snap chat me your reaction to it.

I woke up after having a stomach bug for a week strongly craving eggs Benedict! So, naturally, I typed in eggs Benedict into the Unilocal’s search bar and deemed Original Pancake House to be to my liking. Let’s talk food. I got hot chocolate because it was a cloudy and slightly rainy day and I am so glad I went with it! It was pricey in quite a small cup($ 1.95, I believe) but it was the best hot chocolate I have ever had! It was so rich in chocolate and it didn’t hurt my teeth(I’m sensitive to sweets). Like Goldilocks, it was juuuust right. I got the California eggs Benedict with no tomatoes and paid the extra $ 1.00 for blueberry pancakes. I was a little thrown off when the server asked how I wanted my eggs. Umm… Whaa? I’m not a culinary expert but I’ve watched enough master chef to know that eggs Benedict are poached a certain way. Sure enough, my eggs weren’t poached. Nonetheless, it was all right. The potatoes were delicious, the main entrée was just okay(hollandaise sauce didn’t pack an oomph! that I typically enjoy). The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and buttery and melted in my mouth. The syrups that came with it were really bitter(gross). Our server didn’t come and check on us as often as I’d like while we waited for our food and quickly ran out of hot chocolate(have I mentioned that it’s amazing?!). I did notice that when he was near he would check on other tables but not ours. Cleanliness is important! So that’s one of the things I look for when I eat out. Thankfully, this restaurant was well kept in terms of cleanliness. The tables were wiped clean and the menus weren’t sticky and no issues with dirty silverware. Long story short… Food: 3 stars Service: 2 stars Cleanliness: 5 stars

This place is pretty much flawless. Went here later in the morning for brunch(around 11) so there was no wait, but I heard it’s usually a pretty long one. Fortunately we were greeted and seated quickly! Our waiter was friendly and accommodating to all of our order variations and was super prompt with refilling drinks and bringing our food. I ordered the roadhouse skillet and got bacon instead of sausage and it was amazing. The combo of peppers, potatoes, and onions was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. The bacon was maybe a little chewier than I would have wanted it to be but it was still super delicious. I also got chocolate chip pancakes on the side. I totally thought, looking at how much food I had, that there was no way I would be able to eat all of it, but somehow I managed. Probably because it was one of the most delicious plates of pancakes I’ve ever had. Seriously. Go here if you’re in the Salt Lake City area. Your tastes buds will thank you.

The best Bacon Ever, should have had the buttermilk pancakes though. The Buckwheats were pretty flat although the blueberries and pecans were a nice touch. I still don’t understand how when you ask for NOICE in your water it always come with ice. Also I could understand the bums rush if there was a line out the door but there was not.

We love the original pancake house for breakfast on the weekends! The food — I don’t really recommend this spot if you want the best«all around» breakfast or like egg dishes. It IS great, however, at what you’d think — PANCAKES(and other bread sort of dishes like waffles). This is my go-to when I want that sort of breakfast! And every flavor of pancake I’ve ever had has been awesome. My favorite syrup is the coconut! Atmosphere — the atmosphere is fine. It’s not like the trendiest or cutest spot in SLC, not at all, but it is a step up from IHOP, it’s clean and the service is solid. There is ALWAYS a wait but we kinda just plan for that. Anywhere worth having breakfast in SLC on a weekend will have a wait? We like to put our names on the list then hit some of the close by shopping for 30 – 40 min. When we are done our table is ready! I highly recommend if you’re craving pancakes! Won’t disappoint!

Loved the pumpkin pancakes. I’d recommend trying them without syrup beforehand because I felt they were good on their own. The omelette I had was huuuuge and fluffy, might be the largest I’ve ever seen. Very delicious. I think I’ll be making an effort next time I am in the area. PS The wait for Sunday brunch was very reasonable and the service was great.

On a recent trip to see my son in Salt Lake City, he suggested that we eat at a place that shares the name with one of my family’s favorite breakfast spots in Honolulu: The Original Pancake House. However, the name and the Dutch Baby are about where the similarities end. NOLOCOMOCO, seafood omelets or guava pancakes here. The server was attentive and extremely pleasant. The prices were very reasonable. However, compared to Honolulu, most mainland places offer this benefit. Clean and modern. On the day we came, it didn’t open until 8:00, which is relatively«late» in my opinion. Breakfast joints at home usually open earlier(ex. 6:00), especially on the weekend.
