I ordered the brown rice burger. It too salty(mostly sauce) and there were thin slices of chicken… i was expecting a bigger proportion, especially if it costed about $ 8…I also tried their green tea float… i was expecting something sweet and creamy(similar to a root beer float) but it did not taste like that at all… kind of had a bitter taste.

Hmm, how do I summarize Café Green Tea? Interesting Asian food. Delicious, in fact. They’re known for their brown rice burger, which is actually a teriyaki chicken breast with cheese. The bun is made of brown rice. As you can imagine, it doesn’t stay together very well. It kind of falls apart. But it is damn delicious. But Green Tea gets 3 stars for their service. It is, in a word, SLOW. Very very slow. And sometimes not accurate. They frequently get take out orders wrong, and don’t have food ready when it’s been called in. So diner beware — have a lot of time and patience when you eat here. But if you can tolerate that, there’s some pretty good food for you. It’s kind of a pricey lunch though — the burger will cost you about $ 10, but does come with edamame and chips.

The rice burger here is awesome. The only other rice burgers I’ve had are from the Mos Burger fast food chain in Taiwan, and these burgers are easily superior. Made with a pair of crunchy-on-the-inside, gooey-on-the-outside rice buns, teriyaki chicken, various greens, and the perfect cheese to hold the whole concept together. It’s amazing if you’ve never had one, and a great refresher if you have. Minor complaints about slow wait times and that you have to order the green tea matcha cake in advance, but overall, a nice hidden gem in a residential neighborhood.

Café Green Tea is my sanity in a cruel stress-filled work day. I can stop in, grab a delicious healthy lunch and quietly read a book or meet friends for an intimate lunch. Unfortunately they no longer serve crepes, which made me want to cry. The egg salad crêpe sandwich was to die for. But no matter, they still have the egg salad! You can get smoothies, coffee, sushi, miso soup, salads, paninis, chicken burger with brown rice«buns», what else… oh yeah DESSERT! Sometimes service is a little slow. Everything IS made to order. It’s worth the wait.

A place where I can have a panini, spinach salad, edamame or fresh tuna roll at lunch? Sold. Upon entering walk up to the counter to order. There is a board listing all of the menu items. There are a couple of panini choices, different salad options, or small variety of sushi rolls. All run around $ 5 – 7 per item. The drink choices are abundant including frappachinnos, hot/iced green tea, and other coffee drinks. They have free wifi, and the code is posted at the front. The spinach salad had almonds, dried cranberries, and a mustard vinagarette. Accepts credit cards but with a $ 5 minimum, so if you’re going for just coffee take cash. Most of the tables are inside, but two tables are located outside. There is a japanese grocery next door that I didn’t have time to check out, but I will next time…

I was craving for their crepes for a while but since I had such bad services the past few times, I was reluctant to go. I was at the are today so decided to swing by. I found out that they don’t serve the japanese crepes anymore since they weren’t making enough. So, Café Green Tea is back to just the café and B & G left.(Looks like the rude staffs are gone too!) Since there’s no more crepes, I ordered a mega panini and it was plentiful and delicious. It had ham, turkey, egg salad in it. Let’s say the panini was very well made!

I came here to do some studying for an exam. It’s a good place to study. Fairly quiet, free wifi, comfortable seating. They offer a wide selection of teas that I have never heard of. They said that their tea is imported straight from Japan. I had this weird kind of tea that has rice floating in it. Strange. I also had some edamame. I didn’t get very many soy beans for $ 2.50, which I was a bit disappointed over. I wasn’t happy that they institute a $ 5.00 minimum for credit cards. Last I heard, this is in clear violation of the Merchant Terms of Use Agreement, and they can get in trouble with the credit cards for this practice. The staff was very friendly, and offered me refills on my green tea, and gave me samples of green tea cake, which was delicious, and most appreciated. I’ll be back, but I’ll be bringing cash.

I found Café Green Tea by accident while browsing through Unilocal. If only all accidents were this good. The small café was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed(likely the result of the smooth jazz playing in the background). The menu offers a variety of healthy items such as salads, paninis, sushi, and soup. They also offer pastries(whole wheat oatmeal cookies, almond croissants, etc…) and crepes that range from savory to sweet. I ordered the edamame and miso soup to start things out. The edamames were warm and steamed just right(no overdone beans in sight). The miso soup with lots of seaweed and scallions was full of flavor; it was also rather comforting on a rainy day. I got the teriyaki chicken salad with mixed greens and spinach as my main meal. The chicken was tender and the teriyaki vinaigrette reminded me a bit of honey mustard with a twist. The salad also had boiled eggs, sliced avocado, and sesame seeds sprinkled on top to add a bit of crunch. All of the components(in terms of flavor and texture) came together in harmony and the best part was that I felt healthy eating it. I felt so good about it that I ordered coffee(nice and strong!) and a crêpe with strawberry, red bean paste, and whipped cream for dessert. All very good, although I wish the crêpe would have been warm. All of the dishes were presented neatly and the prices were relatively cheap. The restrooms were outdated but clean, which is always a plus. The thing about this place is that the portions are small and you need to get several items in order to feel satisfied.

Let’s get right to the point: they get 3 stars because it just wasn’t satisfying. Delicious, for sure, but nowhere near enough food for a normal adult appetite(I’m not talking Texas-sized here). And our drinks took quite some time to be brought to our table(well after our food was). Other than that, this place is great! It’s close to the Medical Center, easily accessible, sports a fantastic atmosphere and is run by a team of very friendly and hospitable ladies. The food is eclectic, as your options range from«Paninis» to «Sukiyaki Beef Bowl.» But hey, who’s complaining about having options? There’s no true appetizer menu, but you can grab the rice balls or an order of edamame to tide you over before your meal; come to think of it I’m not entirely certain you’d get it before the meal came out anyway. If you’re going this route make sure they know you’re going for an «appetizer» and that you’d like it before your meal. They offer WiFi for their customers and I strongly suggest giving their exotic beverage options a shot: they’re a bit on the pricey side, but delicious!

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long that actually write a review of this great little place. Café Green Tea is located in a little strip mall off the corner of Fredericksburg and Callahan. They serve some really great food and beverages. I don’t know how long they’ve been doing it now, but they serve crepes, which are really good. But if you’re going to come here, you’ve got to try their terriyaki chicken rice burger. Instead of a bread bun, the bun is made from patties of rice. The whole concept is really delicious with strips of terriyaki chicken, lettuce, and cheese squished between two«rice» buns. I really wish their hours were better, as it would be an awesome study spot right next to the UT Health Science Center. But alas, they’re usually only open from 10am — 4pm. And yes, they do have free wifi!

Rice Balls!!! Yay!!!(actually triangles, but oh man do I love these things). I went to Japan in April and got these every drunk walk home I had from the supermarket — but they were cold and had white rice, and mostly I didn’t know what type of fish I was getting. The owners are sweet and friendly — I started with a miso soup, that was done just right — then had the Salmon brown rice onigiri(served w 6 pieces of edamame). Delicious and light, and it was served warm. Next time I’ll ask for soy sauce, and also see if they will make the onigiri with sushi grade raw tuna or salmon. I also want to give that brown rice burger a try. Also cool — free knitting lessons on Fridays from 2 – 3:30pm, bring your own materials.

This would probably be my favorite place to go for food and coffee, as well as some unique asian cuisine, if I didn’t live so far. That’s my own fault, I suppose. The iced green tea latte was incredible and the paninis were great. They do offer WiFi now(I read in an earlier review that they didn’t at that time). 5 stars if you’re willing to spend a bit more for quality. I know I am.

I heart Café Green Tea! The dining area is clean and comfortable, the food is tasty and unique to San Antonio, and the portions will not make you feel like you’ve fallen off the wagon. The rice burger exceeded my expectations! The«bread» is really a house made rice patty with toasted seeds. The filling is nom-ilicious chicken with veggies. I wished I ordered two of them. The order came with chips and edamame beans. I already had coffee beforehand, so I couldn’t indulge in their coffee jello espresso drink, but I definitely have my finger on it for my next visit. I tried coffee jello before, and they were surprisingly yummy as much as they are inventive. The Japanese style crepes are next as well. Hubby and I used to treat ourselves to them at Unicorn Crepes in Seattle, and we’re glad they make them here. Until next time, Café Green Tea!

The egg salad filling drips off of the toasted panini bread I clutch, splatting indelicately onto the center of my spinach salad. I use my ninja skills to pluck the bit of egg from the honey-mustard drenched leaves and pop it into my mouth with unprecedented speed. My work friend doesn’t even notice, too busy munching on her crisp, healthy chips and looking at the new, now available to purchase art work lining the walls. Totally oblivious. Green Tea has become a near-obsession for us. The small interior is warm and alluring, with books to read and comfortable couches to sink into if you, like us, want to take a break from an office chair. There are also small tables with constantly changing centerpieces, if you are of the more upright persuasion. Asian-inspired artwork, books and trinkets provide entertainment while waiting for one of the 4 employees to bring you your lunch. The menu has variety and appeal for the lunch crowd, offering sandwiches, salads, Japanese soups and sushi, dessert crepes, lunch crepes and a plethora of yummy drinks ranging from bubble tea to fresh-fruit smoothies. Prices are reasonable, with most of the main lunch items ranging from 4 — 8 dollars. On cool days, the covered outdoor patio is a nice option, located right next to a small Asian grocery store should you choose to run in for some Miso soup mix. The employees are all very helpful and considerate, even taking time to get to know me and my friend by name(mostly due to our unwavering presence there every Monday). I have to admit, we’ve been there so often that I can legitimately say, «The usual» when ordering. The effect is that I feel like a rock star. Green Tea will also take orders over the phone and package up your food in nice little plastic boxes for those days when the boss paid attention to when you left. Or for those days when she asked you to get her a Mega-panini(whoa, there!) and an iced tea. Overall, Green Tea provides healthy, belly-satisfying grub in a relaxing and welcoming setting. I can’t think of any other place I would rather spend my lunch break.

I always loved going here when I was in san antonio! It’s in the same square as Minnano and fairly near Shampoo Do. I usually had pannini and a iced coffee blend. It’s a nice place to chill with a friend and have a nice light meal. There is a little childrens’ area where they can sit, play and read books or play games. It’s a nice sunny spot, parking is never a problem. It’s one of the more active stores in the square. It can be a little easy to pass by if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Miss Michiko is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. She’s the owner. Also, on saturday afternoons they some times have live bands perform inside. If you’re a 9−5er, though: It’s pretty hard to make it out to café green tea during the M-F grind. It’s open M-Sat 9.30a-4p. Needless to say, I could only make it out on Saturdays. I was living out by Hildebrand/281 or Blanco and 410. I was by no means within walking distance, or else I’d be there more often. Moderately priced and they have interesting coffee drinks and panninis =D Definitely a place to check out, especially on a lazy afternoon.

Asians who were born in Asia sometimes refer to Asians who were born or raised in the U.S. as «bananas» — yellow on the outside, but white on the inside. I think many a distressed Asian parent has sadly accused their children of being bananas(the phrase is not generally meant to be a compliment). Having been born and raised in the U.S. myself, I rather identify with the plight of the banana. Perhaps that is why I am so fond of Café Green Tea. Although it’s not technically yellow on the outside, Café Green Tea sounds, at least in nomenclature, rather Asian-esque. In fact, the outside is moderately devoid of character, in part because it is located in pretty stark, unassuming(but newish) strip mall. Upon stepping inside, it’s not unlike any other coffee house, although the soothing hues combined with the dark furniture does suggest a Japanese influence. There is also a small display of sushi and tea ceramics located just inside the door. The menu, however, yielded some delightful surprises. Yes, there is the usual panoply of coffee drinks, smoothies, and a selection of paninis, but upon closer inspection, one realizes there is more here than meets the eye. Japanese cream soda… barley tea… genmaicha(green tea with roasted rice)…coffee jello… sushi…onigiri(rice balls; or in this case, rice triangles). Intriguing. I ponder and read a bit, asking questions about a few of the items that I couldn’t readily identify. I finally settle upon something called a «rice burger» — teriyaki chicken, spinach, cheese, and red onion atop a «bun» made with patties of brown rice with a smattering of black sesame seeds. Anything that combines cheese with rice is not authentically Asian and could even be accused of being banana-esque(especially when it sports a name that includes the word«burger»), but the accompanying photo is beautiful enough to draw me in. I place my order and settle in to take in my surroundings. The staff is ultra-friendly and calm, even in the face of an annoying customer — a gruff older man who clearly makes it his habit to complain about pretty much everything. The interior is relaxing, probably in part due to the fact that it is mid-afternoon, so off-peak hours for dining. Also, Café Green Tea does not have wifi, which discourages many would-be lurkers. This fact would under other circumstances cause me to knock off at least a half star, but since I can’t do half stars here, I’m inclined to round up. My rice burger arrives, along with my drink, an iced green tea(total cost was just under $ 10; there was no tip jar on the counter or tip line on my credit card receipt). It was, in a word, gorgeous. So gorgeous that I neglected to photograph it and instead dug right in. It was served with a small handful of kettle cooked rippled chips and a few edamame. I loved the way the accompaniments gave a nod to both sides of this fusion coin. And the rice burger? Deeeeelicious. It was piping hot and flavorful, and the fried rice patty«bun» provided the perfect amount of crunchy, hearty, flavorful goodness to the mix. I was in heaven. If I lived or worked near Café Green Tea, I would come get these ALL the time. Café Green Tea offers delights of all kinds for bananas and non-bananas, alike. I definitely plan to make a point of stopping here anytime I’m in the area.
