Freetails is a great place to come by in San Antonio if you love craft beer and good food. The beer selection they have rotates as they release stuff throughout the year. The food is great. They have a full menu and can even accommodate you if you’re vegan. Love coming here and they have a location downtown if you’re not on the Northwest part of town.

Came here last night for the first time. I have to say I am very impressed and can’t stop wondering why I haven’t been here before. Very relaxed environment and nice patio to grab a drink at night. It’s probably a little hot during the day, but not sure. We were greeted and dropped menus by one server, but our server was there to take our drink order in no time. Our server Amanda was so polite and had no problem answering our questions. I got a flight of beer and they were all good. $ 10 pitchers on Monday nights as well. Overall awesome beer, pizza and service!

3.5 Stars! A-okay brew pub with a dog friendly patio! My boyfriend and I stopped in here today for lunch. We grabbed a table on the outdoor patio and it took a little bit of time for our server to come to our table but after that the service was pretty good. Our food came out in a timely manner and our server settled the bill and brought us to-go boxes pretty quickly. My boyfriend ordered a small carbonara pizza(chicken, bacon, asparagus and white sauce) and sampled the Bat out of Hell and the Freetail Ale. He said both drinks were good and the pizza was just okay. I ordered the margherita pizza(mozzarella, tomato and basil) and added meatball. I love that they use fresh mozzarella and they were very generous with the fresh basil. The pizza sauce was good and the meatballs were very flavorful! However, the meatball and tomatoes made the pizza a bit soggy in the middle. Given our experience, I would definitely be willing to come back again. I imagine this would be a nice place to hang out with friends in the evening when the weather is nice.

They have a pretty good selection of their own beers as well as a few guest beers. Food was a little pricey to me as well for a brewery. It has a nice atmosphere inside and outside with plenty of TV’s if you want to keep up on whatever sporting event is going on. I did like that they offered flights so I was able to try 8 different beers between Freetail and Real Ale. I would say that I did like the Freetail offerings better. I got there around 1:00PM on a Saturday and it was just starting to pick-up. By the time I left it was pretty packed so I bet this place gets jamming on a Friday or Saturday night.

I’m from Oregon and I spent a month in North San Antonio, and this place was my best find. Coming from Oregon, our selection of brew pubs of this style is plentiful and we can be pretty picky. This place became my home away from home. The beer is solid, the food is solid, and the brick and mortar is solid. Plenty of TVs, outdoor seating, and great service. I’d happily bring any other picky Oregonian in here with 100% confidence they’ll love it. I was served at table and bar by a variety of people. All very nice and friendly. 4-stars for me, and +1 because there’s not much like it in San Antonio.

I had a Freetail brew this week and it made me curious enough to visit the brewery. The beer quality was wonderful: wit, triple as well as the the Irish Red. I did wish they had a porter or stout, however it doesn’t surprise me considering the temperature in Texas. They have food? Check. Televisions to watch the game? Check. Happy hour specials? Check. This place will do well. Tim the bar manager was very helpful, friendly and an excellent representation of your business! I hope to see some Freetail Brews in Colorado!

Freetails is a fantastic sports bar/restaurant. The food and drinks are terrific, the environment is solid, and the TVs/sound quality are good. The problem with Freetails is that they don’t really have a seating procedure, so when the place gets crowded and you’re trying to wait for someone to leave you could have been standing there for an hour only to have the guy who just walked in run up and take the open seat. If Freetails figures out a way to set up reserved seating, at least for people who are already there, that would greatly reduce the stress of standing for over an hour staring at people. I really like Freetails, and I wish I could give it a 5 star review, but unfortunately the seating service was so horrible the last time I went that I can only justify a 4.

Great place to hang out and grab a beer and some food. The atmosphere is nice and while it can get busy it doesn’t get to obnoxious. The assortment of beers is sure to satisfy any taste and craving. IPAs are great here and my go to drink. The food and appetizers are filling and the casual surroundings make it a great place for friends to meet up.

Very spacious both inside and outside, but we opted for the patio because it was perfect breezy spring day. Even in the patio you have the choice of sitting under a shaded section or more under the sunlight if you prefer. The wooden shade in the patio has colorful lights hanging, but not in a tacky way. Indoors there’s an insane amount of HDTVs and a projector screen. The décor inside is nothing extraordinary but it really doesn’t need to be, because their beer selection alone has gained them a pretty loyal following. The food here is pretty good for typical bar/pub food but nothing to write home about. I usually have low expectations for food in a place like a pub or brewery, since I understand that food is not their main focus. However, after Southerleigh at the pearl I know that it can be done. We ordered the pizza carbonara, which was $ 15 for the small. If you aren’t starving, it’s a good size to split with another person. With that and a beer, my friend an I were pretty full by the end. Not the best pizza I ever had, but definitely not the worst, although if you’re not sharing it’s pretty expensive for the size you get. Let’s talk about the beer though, since that’s really what we all care about when it comes to this place. If you follow beer advocate, this place has a 3.87÷5 beer rating on their site. We ordered the freetail ale and Belgian style wit. I preferred the freetail ale personally, the wit just wasn’t that impressive to me and tasted watery, but I want to try one of their IPAs next time. They have around a dozen beers on tap varying between the $ 4-$ 5 range. We went on a Tuesday, which is the one weekday they don’t have happy hour(don’t know why they’re hatin on Tuesdays), but by some miracle they only charged is $ 2.50 each for the beers! Such a great deal and I wasn’t about to complain, so no idea how that worked out. The service is on point: polite, quick, and helpful. Not sure when their busy hours are but I was there on Tuesday at around 3 and there was plenty of seating and parking available.

We found this great little brew pub when we were in San Antonio yesterday. They had a great selection of brews(try the Green Jebus if they have it: a sour wit turned green with spirulina) and a full food menu we didn’t get to try this time. Service was extremely friendly and I was a big fan of their New Zealand style IPA as well. Will definitely visit next time we are in the neighborhood.

Nice outdoor seating. Decent beer. Service was just ok and the food was mediocre at best. I’ll be nice though and give it a solid 3 since they do have specials that are very reasonable. A little off the beaten path but unless you’re in the immediate area I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to come to freetail.

Tips 1) all of the beers I’ve had are decent, but the sour was a stand-out. 2) awesome pizzas, and a pretty good Philly cheesesteak 3) great patio for spring/fall It feels like I’ve been planning a lot of places recently, though deservedly so. It’s such a relief to once again leave a good review for a place I plan to frequent. Freetail has a relaxed atmosphere with friendly waitstaff and good food and beverages at a reasonable price. Really can’t ask for more than that. Enjoy!

I’ll give freetail 4 stars at this point in my life because I do truly love some of their sours… Well, mostly just the Ananke and Raspberry Ananke, which they never have available. Their food is good enough and it’s a fun place to watch a game. Just don’t expect great service.

Pizza and beer always makes for a great combination. It is an even better combination when the beer is locally brewed and relatively cheap and it is enjoyed in an atmosphere that involves optimum sports consumption. This brew pub makes for an enjoyable time. The restaurant itself is very large and shows lots of sports. There are tables of every different shape and size, an ample bar, and even a patio with picnic tables and a covered roof. I have only been on Saturday nights and most of the seats are usually occupied when I eat here. The staff are ok. They are usually distracted with the large amounts of patrons. On my last visit, it took a while for anyone to come get a second beer order after finishing my first. I would expect a brewery to want to show off as many of their beers as possible. I was a fan of the beers they had on offer at this pub. My favorite was probably the Boban Smash IPA($ 6.50) and my second was the Torpor Porter($ 5.50). Both were refreshing and great in a cold glass. As for the food, I wasn’t as big of a fan. The rueben panini($ 9.50) was made of lower quality ingredients and was a little cold when it finally made it to my table. I have also experienced the spinach tomato basil pizza($ 12 for a small). The pizza was a little thick for my liking and the ingredients weren’t the best. The same situation was the rueben was going on with the pizza. I think this is what happens when a place that does beer tries to design and make their own food menu. The beer is executed very well but the food needs some work. Overall, this brew pub was good for sports and hanging out with friends. They have plenty of tables and sports on the television to enjoy. The beer is great but the food needs some work. The staff are good at first but get kind of lost when they are over saturated with patrons. The pub is in kind of an obscure, middle of nowhere location as well. I would recommend this place for beer when in the San Antonio area.

Already been a fan of this beer why not try the brewery. I love local businesses. I had a great time visiting this local brewery. Get service, great beers. What more is there to say. Support your local brewery. I originally had a 4 star review but when they don’t rush you out at close then you get 5stars.

My friend and I came on a Sunday afternoon for some good pizza and football and it was pretty crowded. They have several screens to watch football. We ordered a medium pesto pizza with pepperoni and Canadian bacon with a side house salad with ranch. Everything was so delicious! I don’t even know where to begin. The next time we come I want to try their craft beer I have yet to try it. Server was awesome he came almost every five minutes to check on us. Good food great service, doesn’t get any better! Definitely will be coming back.

Great for lunch or dinner. I am trying to hit all of the different places near my work so this was perfect. The pizza was so much better than I expected. My first beer was the Rye Wit. I normally drink their bats outta helles but I wanted something lighter. It was very refreshing and exactly what I wanted. The pizza I got was the mac n cheese pizza. I can never pass up the opportunity to carbo load on mac n cheese. And even better was the added bacon on top! The small was perfect for just me and I was even able to bring back leftovers. A great place for lunch and I would love to come back for dinner!

The back patio is really big and for the most part, shaded. Dogs are allowed out back, you just have to make sure they are outside a particular red rectangle painted on the ground. But no worries, lots of large picnic tables available within the dog friendly zone. They also offer one-time use water bowls. I really enjoyed my Freetail Ale amber ale as opposed to my preferred Austin Amber. My boyfriend liked his Rye Wit Belgian witbier. We loved our Carbonara pizza which was thin crust with chopped chicken & applewood bacon, alfredo sauce, sliced asparagus, and spinach. So yum! We got the medium for $ 20 and took 2 slices home. The only downside was that our waitress wasn’t exactly thrilled to serve us, however she was knowledgable about the beers. A solid 4 stars. Would come back with a group of friends.

Mac N Cheese Pizza?! I am reading this menu right, correct? This will be one cruel joke if my friends won’t let me order this. My inner five year old is screaming with excitement and confusion as two of my childhood classics have been fused into this ultra-mega food concept. Well sadly I had to order these two faves separate since my colleagues are not being true friends and letting me choose this specialty pizza. Luckily I was able to order these personal favorites as separate dishes and I am envisioning the delicious vision. The pizza we ordered was their meatball specialty with the addition of pepperoni. The meatballs were very juicy and tender. Don’t even get me started on the fresh mozzarella, I’m fairly certain they have the cow chilling in the back with magical elves making the cheese. The pizzas are offered in three sizes and have a build your own option as well. Some of their specialty pizzas are quite interesting and had my taste buds going crazy. As I’m scarfing down my pizza on the outside patio and making friends with the puppy from the table next to me, I see the love of my life walking down the patio. My Mac N Cheese order is finally here. Her smooth velvety texture captures my eyes with a perfect bread crumb topping. First bite in and I realize Freetail is on their A-game with my two childhood favorites. Enough about the food, the hand crafted beers they brew are amazing and I love their digital menu screen inside. Pizza and beer is an amazing combination and this will be a great summer hangout spot with their patio. For all of my fellow craft beer lovers this is a great local brewery for you to add to your list. I love their witty beer names and the offering they feature.
