Went here last night in the drive thru. Well let’s just say it wasn’t very good. I was the first car and it took about 15 min to get my 2 plates. I ordered 22 meat plates. One with brisket, sausage, green beans and potato salad. The other was lean brisket, mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were very good, the lean brisket was tough and I didn’t eat it. The sausage was good, but wasn’t cut and the mashed potatoes were fake. The bread that came with it was very dry and the one onion and 2 pickles weren’t enough. Also the mild bbq sauce had been sitting for a long time and was think. I’ve had the chicken fried steak from here before and it was surprisingly good. I think I’ll get that again, but not the other stuff. Oh and we got their fried okra too. It was a lot for 2.99 but not cooked long enough. I had ordered 2 brownies and the cashier repeated my order and it wasn’t on the receipt. So since the manager handed me the food I told him I ordered it but didn’t pay for it and he said that’s ok and handed me 2 of them. Those were really good.

My family and I recently had rented the party room at this location for a birthday and retirement party for a family member and I have to say that the employees at Grady’s did an amazing job from catering to helping us with the set up of the party. They did it with a smile on their face. When we got to the serving of plates, they served us a lot which was good to fill up our tummies. The BBQ plate came with brisket, sausage link, potato salad and beans complete with bread, pickles, onions, jalapeños, and sweet tea. We got a lot of compliments of how great the food was and even people came in for seconds. I have to say that Grady’s is the best choice for BBQ in San Antonio! Party room rental was given to us at a good price. So if you are planning a party and looking for a party room to rent I highly recommend this place.

The Little Fly That Couldn’t Members of my college and my self travelled from Long Island to San Antonio for a Annual Conference yaaaaawn. But I couldn’t tell you how hungry we all were after arriving, our rational was that we we’re in TEXXXAS! And we were not. I repeat were not… going to eat fast food. But finding a place other then that, was a mouth watering challenge. Finally some one in the van shouted«BBQ!». FULLBRAKESWERETHENAPPLIED. Mc Gradies it was! The place even had swinging wooden doors like the old cowboy movies! So a group of confused New Yorkers could stare at the menu debating on what exactly was a fried chicken beef steak? Anyways we ordered something of that nature which came with a complimentary salad;) which included lots of RANCH lmao. While I was tearing through my salad I remembered a thing about having manners, eating too fast, talking while eating you know. that kind of stuff. Then god spoke to me! He said bzzzzzmmmhm bzzzz. I had looked down and a fly the size of a small jet aircraft was inverted in my ranch dressing. Unfortunately after almost giving CPR the lil buddy couldn’t be saved. I am not sure if they were in formation flight and I had consumed some of his friends. I like to think I wouldn’t have liked the salad so much if that was the case. The funniest culture shock I had in the dirty south was when we went to complain about the salad. You know the drowning fly thing in the salad guy. Managements initial reaction if put in southerner words was like this«AAAAAAEEEEYYYYYYNNN-D», I was more confused then the time I looked at the menu. I didn’t know if I had to explain the concept… Finally a light bulb sparked. well kind of… The manager asked if I wanted a new salad lmao let me think about that for a second. Any ways I thank them for the story and despise them for the food. R.i.P lil fly

We picked up a meal that included 2 lbs of brisket, sausage, beans and potato salad for my grandfather’s 83rd birthday, per his request. The meal was a little lack luster — we received fatty brisket when we ordered lean. missing jalapenos and almost missing sausage. I called the store shortly after realizing this to inform them. The manager Belinda was extremely helpful in making amends with us to make sure my grandfather’s birthday party was successful and delicious! I really appreciated her taking the time to listen to me and help me make sure my grandfather’s birthday dinner was exactly how he wanted it! And she threw in a peach cobbler for the birthday boy. I would return to their location simply for the customer service.

It happens to be the nearest BBQ to where I am at tea time. I love BBQ, hey Texas how did you hide this from me for soooo long??? Ok I have passed the signs and wondered but just never had the need to go in for a meal before today. . Order a ‘one meat plate’, Brisket, and sides of Potato Salad, Pinto Beans; the bowl of BBQ Sauce comes with the plate. Oh and a big jug of Tea! Little barette has dressings such as Onion, Pickle etc. Oh and the Tea tanks are there too, self serve which I think is really neat esp if I have a party to cater :0). I have to compliment Grady’s with excellence in everything. The meat is perfect, as are the sides. It is a delicious meal! Used to the other BBQ chain here I can’t really say I would be fair in comparing them, because I enjoyed this meal so much. If you want to spoil yourself, this is the place to BBQ :0)

While waiting for my husband to finish his work assignment across the street, I popped in to this bbq joint because it looked like the safest place to be after dark in this sketchy part of town. Im happy I did! I got a baked potato with bbq chicken in it(special request, not on menu. My diet is very limited because of advanced Crohns disease so I eat what wont make me sicker). They were happy to make it for me, no problem. It was pretty dang good too! The bbq sauce, though not spicy and perfect for Crohns, was not exactly to my taste(a bit tomato saucy, not too much like bbq sauce imo), but it was fine. The chicken was good and moist and potato was slow roasted and came with butter, cheese and sour cream(if you want it). The service was WONDERFUL! Everyone I encountered was very kind and helpful :) They keep it super clean too! Good bathrooms too! I’d come here again :)

Ate here for lunch today after watching 3 hours of bar-b-que on the Food Network. In know we have other great places in the city for bar-b-que but Grady’s is open till 8pm on Sunday’s. I ordered the Rib plate and it was average. For my sides I ordered the cream corn and pinto beans. I enjoyed the sides more than I enjoyed the ribs. The offer an condiment bar full of onions, pickles, jalepenos & more! The tea was just as good as Bill Miller’s tea! :) overall I would rate my lunch 3stars.

The coleslaw was alright. Potato salad had some undercooked potatoes, and all our chicken, WASRAW. what a big let down. They need to raise their standards. C’mon, Raw chicken? Get it together. The flavor is there but quality control is not.

Stopped here for a family lunch, luckily I wasn’t expecting much since I’m not a huge barbecue fan to start with. I ordered the #1 baked potato and side salad meal, which was just a mixed lettuce salad like I can get at the grocery store and a large baked potato with butter and cheese. They don’t have other topping options… or did I just not know about them because the person taking our order wasn’t exactly friendly? She seemed annoyed that my whole family couldn’t decide what they wanted, even though it was slow and there was no line and barely anyone in the lobby. Other party orders included some turkey, brisket, and ribs that all looked pretty dry. Creamed corn was good, fries were over salted and over peppered, and pinto beans had a little nip of spice. I would rate this place mediocre and not stop again unless someone I was eating with really wanted it.

Not too friendly towards retirement groups. Been meeting here once a month @10:00AM over a year now, in their group room, 40 – 50 people meet and eat lunch there too, at about 10:30AM which is when they open. Now they don’t want us because we interfere with the lunch crowd., everytime, as was the case today, there are only one or two people there, all the way to about 11:15AM when our group is leaving. Nice going Grady’s Management.

Not good… our chicken sandwich had a big bone in it too. We are from Seattle and were hoping for some good Texas barbaque. I should have looked here first. Oh and the fries tasted like they were cooked yesterday. They didn’t even take the time to butter or toast a piece of plain white sandwich bread. Just really bad food:(

I had seen this place many times, always plenty of cars, thought I’d give it a shot. Wish I wouldn’t have. It’s about the same price as a bill millers, sadly the quality is not. I got a brisket sandwich and green beans with their ‘spicy’(not so spicy) sauce. I gotta say I’ve never had a mc rib but, I imagine that’s how it would taste. On the plus side my food was ready in less than 2 minutes, which is more time than it took for me to realize this isn’t good bbq. The tea is ok. The layout is open. The food is just simply not good.

I checked in here, so I obviously ate here. I remember being in San Antonio. That part is all clear to me. But the food was obviously so stellar and memorable that I’ll be writing a much better review soon! /sarcasm

I’m not crazy about BBQ. That said, I really like Grady’s. Their burgers are fantastic! They also have chicken fried steak, fired catfish & et cetera. People who DO like BBQ tell me that Grady’s BBQ is pretty great and I personally think it is better than Bill Miller’s. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy. It has a nice hometown feel to it with the checkerboard table cloths & the giant cow sculpture thing.

Being from Seattle, I was expecting to find some exceptional barbecue that I probably wouldn’t get at home. This was pretty much our only night in SA and this is where we ended up. I didn’t realize it was a small chain, and maybe that’s why it was so meh. My brisket sandwich was good, not great but not terrible. I really don’t have much more to say about it. My sister had a bbq chicken sandwich that had a bone in it. Really? I might have expected that with the beef, but with a chicken sandwich? I’d consider coming here again if I ended up nearby or if friends wanted to meet there, but I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way. I can probably get much better barbecue at several places here in Seattle.
