Formally called Chocolat, this decadent store still has some amazing chocolates and chocolate strawberries. The owners are super nice and they definitely have some amazing chocolates to choose from. Not to mention all the items they have on display for specialty orders. It smells heavenly when you walk in the door and they also serve some fantastic ice cream. So if you have a special someone to buy delicious chocolate for or heck just for yourself(No judgement here), make you way to Alamo City Chocolate. You won’t be disappointed!

Cute little chocolate shop that never fails to impress me. Wonderful kind staff, and DELICIOUS chocolate and ice cream. They have lovely little gifts as well for any occasion. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a quick place to stop by to satisfy a sweet tooth or on a day out with friends.

Nice little locally owned chocolate store. I met with a group of friends here and we got to see how they make their chocolate and decorate some cookies. It’s a busy little place, very popular. And again, it’s locally owned so it’s definitely a worthwhile business to support.

The BEST chocolate in San Antonio. Decadent and well priced for the quality. I could spend all day in here. Stop by even if it is just for a couple of pieces. They have the cutest holiday treats too!

This little gem is nestled away in the vineyard shopping center. I was having a «me day» and decided to splurge on some desserts the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find this small shop. If you check in here on Unilocal you get half off of a small ice cream. I got a cup of the cookies and cream, which is freshly made in the shop and I really liked it. The ice cream was velvety and smooth and definitely tasted fresh. I also got two truffles: the Raspberry Ganache and Milk Truffle. They were absolutely to die for. The raspberry ganache was very rich and creamy. The milk truffle was chewy like nougat which I was not expecting but was very tasty. I cannot wait to go back here and try some other truffles and spoil myself some more.

We tried the $ 36 box of sweets, and the first thing we noticed was the tiny size of the candies. When we ate them though, that was the real surprise. There is so little chocolate coating on the fiillings! The coconut patties in particular had a paper-thin dip in the chocolate! The only reason I can see for these highly over priced candies selling, is that folks still don’t know that the sublime Mary See’s Candy is now in North Star Mall, for about ½ the price!

Very friendly and patient while our kids decided what they wanted from the huge selection of chocolate and fudge. Offered our kids samples of all the ice cream flavors they wanted to try. We were given a chocolate for each kid on the way out. We will be back here for sure, freshly made ice cream at the location, what more could you ask for?

LOVE! The chocolate is heaven and they make good chocolate gifts. I love how you can order a $ 25 box and they will put as much candy that fits. Such a great deal and you wind up getting more than Godiva would give you for that price. I’m in love with the chocolate dipped Oreos.

I think I was looking for more of a local chocolate shop and less of a chain feel when I tried this. The chocolate was good, but it just has too much of a commercial feel than a «little chocolate shop» feel.

Love, love, love the chocolate from here. Just walking in the door you’re greeted with a smell that can only be described as what I imagine heaven must smell like. The staff is helpful and friendly, it shows when you enjoy what you do. I suggest the hot chocolate, dark or milk, it’s all good. The only problem we have is the box of chocolates hardly ever makes it home and has never been in tact when we get there!

As a «Yelp-er» I saw the discount for a check in at this chocolate store. I called for directions and the man on the phone was pleasant. When I arrived I was welcomed by several workers. It smelled amazing in there. All the workers smiled and were working hard making what looked like little bites of heaven. I asked if they honored the Unilocal coupon and immediately they said yes and asked me what ice cream I wanted. The woman let me sample whatever I wanted. I committed with the rocky road. It was a good choice! The treat was full of toppings and nuts. I was checked out quickly. And then thanked. And told to come back soon. Over all this was a great experience and delicious treat. I’ll be back to try something new!

Go to Godiva! Chocolate at this place tastes old not fresh ! I really don’t know how this happens but it does. They even say their chocolate has a shelf life of 6 months, so watch what you get. Just fyi, chocolate covered«Oreos» are not Oreos, they seem to be off brand of Oreos and we all know the difference. Not to mention they are expensive — large candy bar $ 14.

My first time at this shop was a great experience. The person helping me pick out chocolates was very friendly and helpful. I love going to local businesses because of the personal customer service. The shop is clean and organized with so many different options such as rice crispies, ice cream, chocolate dipped everything, and other great looking gift items. I chose a mixed box of chocolate and was not disappointed. It was $ 34 for a box, but I was able to fit quite a few pieces inside. Each piece looks artistically put together. I haven’t tried every piece yet, but the ganache I tried was very good and smooth. I also saw some chocolate dropped fruit and many, many different truffles. They have both dark, white, and milk chocolate varieties of everything. It isn’t quite as epic as Godiva in the face that they are not as colorful and round, but they did have a few cake truffles. They have many items in the store, and I think they would make great gifts! I am looking forward to trying the ice cream the next time I’m in the area.

A must visit little shop in SA. Tried it out for first time as dessert after lunch and it was fantastic!!! I had the small size bowl of cake batter ice cream and chocolate chip cookie dough and my fiancé had rocky road in a waffle cone. We both loved it!!! The ice cream itself was divine, it was sooooooooooo creamy and sooooooo soft. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try any of their chocolates because I was soooo full but I will definitely be coming back on an empty stomach to see how much damage I can do…

I love this place. I stopped by on my way from one job to another in the middle of my work day, it’s been a ruff day! I needed a pick me up! This was perfect, the chocolate is delicious, the gentleman working was very friendly, also super patient while I decided between their great assortment of truffles! Everything in here is neat and clean, very important in a place like this. The truffles are beautiful and they have a really good variety of specialized chocolates too! They had a chocolate basketball, life size! It was crazy! Tons of great small pieces as gifts, or to put in candy arrangements, or just to surprise a co worker or loved one ;) This is going to be a place that learns my name very quickly! Yummy!

I had a groupon I purchased to buy fudge. Turns out the groupon did not cover fudge. Pricing is very confusing. You don’t know what you will be paying until it is too late. Staff makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. Very very pricey. Wouldn’t go back.

So I’m getting to that age when the jumbo heart-shaped box of industrial chocolates from Walgreens just won’t do. What? Like I’m made of money?! So, I swallowed my pride, dusted off the car title and headed to one of those car title loan places. She may be getting top-notch chocolates but she’ll be downing them with screw top wine! All joking aside, you pay for quality. Shakolad is one of maybe 2 or 3 real chocolatiers in San Antonio that I know of. The have a nice little shop at The Vineyard shopping center which for me, is easy to get to. When you walk in you know you’re in a real chocolate shop. The molten chocolate in their ever-rotating caldron just beckons to chocoholics to avert to attention of the shop staff and dip a hand in, «just for a taste.» Like the golden ticket holders in Wonka’s wonderland, we’re mesmerized by the variety of sweets just begging to be eaten. You have your traditional chocolates both milk and dark. From ganaches to champagne and run-laced concoctions, big chocolates and small — they’re all here. You can get chocolate covered cake bites and marshmallows, and even that intoxicating combination of chocolate covered pretzels — even with white chocolate. All the sweet players are here and all you have to do is assemble your team. Whether it’s a prepackaged box or choose-your-own, which you’ll either too quickly and regret the ones you didn’t choose, or lament each and every choice you make, asking if you should choose this one or that one until that patience of the staff wears so thin that they climb over the counter and slap you back into consciousness. Mmm, the chocolate fog… Whether it’s for a celebration, an anniversary, or simply a means of getting out of the proverbial«doghouse», Shakolad has you covered. The staff is friendly and will explain their product and assist and matching your personal tastes to the vast array of chocolates they have on hand. Give Shakolad a try and your mouth will thank you.
