Love it. Great service. Great drinks. Great prices. Look for the bearded guy! He’s super sweet and a total badass. This bar knows their stuff. Craft cocktail or beer, they deliver.

As someone who frequents bars Craft Cocktail bars in the Downtown San Antonio area, it is always refreshing to stop by Stay Golden, and to get a good cocktail for under 8 bucks. It’s a price point that you dont frequently find when ordering a craft cocktail, now of course it is matched with it’s sister bar, Rumble, by the Paper Tiger. Stay Golden was the first though, the first place where you could come in, no matter what time of day(assuming the place is open, of course), order a beer, a cocktail, a glass of wine, and always be welcomed. The staff at Stay Golden is always friendly at this little ice house. No matter what night or time you go. Jordan, is a newer employee at Stay Golden, but he already has regulars that come to visit him, and already does really well with making drinking and balancing all of his attention between the customers. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, GOHERERIGHTNOW. They have Game of Thrones themed cocktails that are all solid drinks, built and imagined very well, and only cost $ 7 bucks! That’s a steal for the Pearl area. The open air bar does feature a Happy hour, where they have $ 5 cocktails(Old Fashion and French 75, I believe, classic stuff.) They also offer some discounts on Beer and Wine during this time as well. If you looking for a place in the Pearl area, that is a break from the fancy restaurants and high prices, come on out to Stay Golden. If you have just spent an insane amount of money at those restaurants and boutiques and need a drink to help take your mind off it, come to stay golden. If you have an abundance of money, come to Stay Golden… All in All, you should just come to Stay Golden.

Stay Golden is one of my favorite places to hang out anymore. It just has a fun vibe. It is the baby brother(sister?) to Brooklynite and Last Word, but it is more of an icehouse than a cocktail bar. They have a few craft cocktails on the menu, and they can knock out a damn good Old Fashioned, they also have a nice selection of canned beers, but the real treat here is the house made Fireball! Yup, Whiskey, infused with cinnamon and simple in house and served chilled. It is a must have when you stop in.

Stay golden social was recommended by a fellow foodie. I decided to go after hearing they had a game of thrones themed cocktail menu. Being the geek that I am I had to investigate. I went there on a Friday around 7pm. I was quickly seen at the bar and received my drinks promptly. The drinks were decent for $ 7 dollars. Most places you are looking in upwards of $ 10. The winterfell was good and the winter is coming. I enjoyed the 80s themed music playing. Huey Lewis and the news is A-OK with me. The outside patio area is nice and plenty of seats. All in all, I will go back for more of their specialty drinks. The good: drinks and ambiance The bad: the restroom. Two restrooms available for men and women. I can only speak for the men’s side, but it is a very cramp closet. Only one toilet and washing station. So if it is a full house, expect a long wait. When I was there it took me 15 minutes to finally get in.

Great drinks! We had a great time here at Stay Golden but its definitely a dive bar! Don’t go if you’re looking for something fancy.

Came in here to finish off an evening of fun with friends. Really straightforward drink selection, hand crafted cocktails, friendly barkeeps, and a very clean dive bar appearance. Drinks are super strong and for the most part very quickly assembled. Definitely choose these guys over blue box!

Nice little stand up watering hole to get a very tasty alcoholic beverage. Try the Kings Landing, yum! Bartender was friendly and courteous to those who are gray in the temples. Refeshing atmosphere!

Do not expect a commercial sign outside to lure you in, it doesn’t need one. Cheap price for drinks, pet friendly, laid back atmosphere, occasional food truck. This one is a neighborhood bar with zero pretense. This bar is right next to the Pearl yet it does not try to ROB you in any way and that is how they get a 5 star rating from me!

I want to like this place more whole heartedly but depending on when you go things change drastically. Still, I would pick SGSH over Blue Box any day. Pro’s: We live at the Mosaic building and walking here is just so easy. If you live a life concentric to downtown this is an easily accessible place with plenty of free parking @ the Pearl. Cool cocktail ideas. Menu is small enough where you won’t be searching thru hundreds of drinks just to get to one that has what you like. Good selection of beers in their cooler. All they way from Pearl on up. The vibe of the bar is one I think most people would be comfortable in. It’s slightly above«working man» and slightly below«hipster». Con’s: Price. Man, $ 6 bucks for a canned Alaskan APA. I could see $ 5 all day long but that’s a lot to enjoy a canned beer. They do have happy hour deals on Pearl and a few other low level session ales. All cocktails are $ 7 I believe. A pretty standard rate. Service. Every time we go early in the afternoon service is non existent and not personable. For some reason as it gets busier later, staff is more attentive and the experience is more enjoyable for the price. Makes no sense to me! Overall, a fun place worth visiting once a month or so. I would not take my chances going early however. Catch the tail end of happy hour and you should be good.

Excellent cocktails in a casual, down to earth«ice house» atmosphere. I enjoy their delicious cocktails and the price of beer is pretty decent. I wish there was more consistency in how they prepare the drinks(each bartender does it a little differently) but overall it’s a great place. I prefer going on weekdays during happy hour or when there aren’t too many people later in the evening. I love it when they have a food truck on site it’s great to grab a bite to eat while drinking outside. It would be helpful if they had a schedule because I can’t tell when a truck is going to be there.

Stay Golden is a sweet little bar near the Pearl with some awesome sounding cocktails, house-made fireball shots, and a hip crowd. I will warn you: there’s no AC in this bar. It was nice inside, as it is an open air bar, but we didn’t stay for long since we visited in July. We did stay for a game of bags(or cornhole, as some people apparently call it?), and I wish we would’ve stayed longer. I thought the vibe was definitely cool. The bartenders were nice as well, and gave us info about the house-made fireball shots(try them!!!). They had a various assortment of beers as well. I will be back!

Amazing bar with fun Game of Thrones named drinks which we have tried a few and they are really good. There’s always really nice bartenders here and they always attentive! This place doesn’t have AC so it can get really hot here so prepare for that

I have given this place two shots. Not a big fan of their cocktails. Tasted more on the verge of a strong wells drink. For the price, I have had better. I do like the chill atmosphere and the mixture of the indoor/ourdoor concept. Also, if you like beer, they have quite a selection. It could be a hit or miss depending on your style of drinks.

My favorite bar in SA. SGSH has the best bartenders in the city. The cocktails they offer are delicious but if you aren’t in the mood for any of them, they can whip up something just for you(and its always spot on to what you described). Not into spirits tonight? That’s fine, they have a nice beer selection as well. The outdoor patio is awesome in the spring and summer months but the chairs get crowded pretty quickly so you need to get their early or be willing to throw some ‘bows to get a spot. especially if they have the Spurs on the projector outside. They also have 2 huge TVs inside if you are wanting to watch sports. Music selection is always a crowd pleaser. On most nights they will play something everyone can agree on– last time I was there it was a lot of Prince. Everyone likes The Purple One.

Chill bar for a night out that is better than the other local Pearl bars — here’s why: 1) Typically less crowded 2) Better beer selection than Blue Box and busier than Tuk Tuk 3) Usually quieter(aka you don’t have to shout in a conversation) 4) Nice bar staff 5) Cocktails and beer are a little overpriced

Went on a beautiful day with the doors open in the place and that made the ambience perfect. Had The Kings Landing and a Red Viper. Nice refreshing drinks. I thought it was supposed to be happy hour from 4 – 7 but maybe that is just for certain drinks.

We went here on a very wet, cold and windy night; so didn’t get to experience it’s obvious outdoor patio, but the inside was well kept and very quaint. Staff was pretty much on the ball and not at all bad to look at either. They had a very wide array of draft beers but the prices were a bit up there — not surprised given the location of the bar. Overall, I’d go back again.

After a wonderful blessing from mother nature and allowing Summer weather during the month of Love, I knew this was my chance to check out Stay Golden Social House(SGSH). I was not disappointed and quickly realized this is going to be one of my new spots to come to. I’m always guaranteed to love a place when they offer Hopadillo as part of their beer offerings. My favorite feature of this whole place is the outdoor patio overlooking the Pearl area. The tables outside are massive wooden spools laid on their side and painted playing into the theme of the place. The chairs are all mismatched with some lights hanging above giving this a true backyard feel on a larger scale. You can play cornhole outside or do what I’m planning to do and bring Cards Against Humanity for some Sunday Funday action. They serve some mean innovative cocktails and I can’t wait to come here for happy hour. Moscow Mule’s for $ 4?!? Count me in to put this on my standard Happy Hour list. As a whiskey and bourbon lover I knew I had to try their Mean Left Hook and boy does that drink have a personal kick to it. Even if I was only here for a short while I know that I’m bound to have many memories, and some I won’t remember, created here during the summertime.

My favorite bar in the Pearl! I love the fact that this place stays true to the history of the Pearl, and still serves Pearl in a can. Not only do they serve cold beer, but they serve some really innovative cocktails. These guys are the same dudes that come from Brooklynite, the crazy cocktail place down the road. They share the same love for mixology there, mixing up some crazy cocktails made from homemade ingredients, fresh mixers, and obscure alcohols and elixirs I’ve never heard of. Since they’ve opened, they’ve expanded the bar, so there’s a big screen tv so you can watch the game, clean restrooms, and even more seating. There’s a comfortable outside area that you can lounge around at, and even bring your dog! They occasionally have food trucks, usually on the weekends, so you can get your grub on while having some cheap cocktails! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining the ingredients and the history behind each drink. You can really tell that they’re passionate about their drinks! I appreciate how clean this place is, and how they keep their art changing to keep it interesting. I recommend checking this place out for happy hour, which I believe is 5−7p daily. Parking can be a challenge on the street, so I recommend parking under 281, and crossing Ave B.

My boyfriend and I decided to go running in The Pearl area and afterward had seen the bar was still open on a weekday. So we went in and from the moment I stepped in I knew I was going to enjoy myself. The atmosphere was chill and welcoming without being pretentious and overwhelming. The art on the walls is interesting and the drinks alone are breathtaking. I’ll definitely need to go more often to get myself a drink of choice.

I guess its good that they were forced to do a name change because now I get to give you my second take. SGSH has become a regular stop in my weekly routine. I would say that come at least once a week and being realistically it closer to 3 times a week. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Mean Left Hook, Its a bourbon based cocktail. It reminds me of a Manhattan but it has a little something extra, and it taste fresh! The other drinks on the menu are great as well, my second favorite is the Sting Like A Bee, a Gin Based cocktail. I must admit that its gotten a lot hotter recently, but hey we live in San Antonio, its hot here and ice houses are popular, so you gotta get with it, or go to less awesome hang out spots! The cocktails are top notch, I’m so happy there is an Icehouse that has a full bar! The food truck situation as become more hit or miss. In the beginning they were here all most everyday, now just a couple of times a month. But hopefully that situation will improve. Go try something off the cocktail menu, and bring your friends. If it’s their first time, they’ll thank you for showing them an amazing new spot to take friends and dates to.
