My husband and I have been coming here for 2 years and it has never disappointed. This is always our go-to for sushi. Josh, the server is the best of the best! If you need a recommendation, he’s always spot on. Specifically, the Jasmine Roll, Mexican Roll, Tejas Roll, Green Lantern Roll, and Evans rolls are all amazing! Take into consideration we love spicy though We always get sashimi as well, and the fish is so fresh and tastes perfect.

We love everything in here. Good prices and excellent service. Owner is very friendly and greets everyone. They have excellent sushi chefs! I’ve spent time and Japan and Korea and their food is about authentic as you can being outside of these respective countries!

Found this gem on Unilocal, and it lived up to the hype. Our table shared five different rolls varying in ingredients and spice, and all were great. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. It was a Tuesday night so I cannot speak to service during peak hours though. We had a birthday at the table, and the sushi chef made an amazing bird sculpture from a radish. Overall, it was a great experience and great food. I will definitely be going back soon.

Good place to visit on a weekdays Friday night and Saturday night you have to wait for your sushi but it is worth it.

Very nice restaurant, excellent food, good atmosphere, friendly service. We went because of Unilocal, the name is misleading, because it is not fast food. It is a nice sit down restaurant.

I like this low key sushi place. It has a great Korean menu that tastes very Korean. Last time I went I had the Korean meat in a hot stone pot. Forgot the name. It came with a lot of sides. Delicious. The sushi isn’t bad either.

I dunno why they bother to put the Express in the name. The food is good but they are slow and the service is below par. I typically get takeout and everytime regardless of whether they are busy or not I am sitting there for at least 30 minutes. Was not offered a drink despite ordering 80 dollars worth of food and tipping for counter service. Finally when my order was ready I could see it was wrong and asked if they could quickly fix it, if not just remove the item. That added another 10 minutes. An isolated incident I can forgive but I think I need to find a restaurant which actually wants my business.

I don’t have one bad thing to say about this place! The food(both Japanese and Korean) are amazing and the service has been top notch. Most places that try to stick their hand in more than one type of food usually loses the authenticity of one or the other but not Sushi Express. Let’s talk about the food! So far we have tried their sushi rolls, hand rolls and nigiri. My husband is a huge salmon nigiri guy and says these ones here weren’t his favorite but were pretty darn good. We’ve tried their California Hand Roll and Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll. But my favorite so far is the Brian Hand Roll — which is basically the cali and tempura shrimp roll in one. lol They don’t over do the rice so that it looks full but it’s just acting as a filler. Which ever you order, you can bet there will be a lot of crab, fish, tempura, etc. We’ve had a couple of their rolls and to be honest, I don’t remember their names but I haven’t had one that I didn’t like. I think they should change their name to «Sushi-rean Express» because more people need to know about their Korean food. I’ve had their Kimchi Tofu Soup(Soondobu) and the Spicy Seafood Soup(Jjampong) — I may have butchered the names but in my defense, Korean Cuisine Spelling 101 wasn’t a requirement in my business courses. Both came with side dishes(my favorite!). Seafood soup came with mussels, octopus, calamari and shrimp and lots of it. Both dishes were around $ 11 – 13 which isn’t bad considering the amount of food you get. Lots of flavor in both dishes. My only complaint, IF i had to complain, is that the dishes weren’t as spicy as I would like them to be. Then again, this is personal preference and I’m sure if I asked they could add more spice. Yes, some of the food can be a little pricey BUT the quality is there. Which is why I can justify spending that much on the food here. We’ve eaten at their restaurant once and have used their delivery services twice. We ate at the restaurant on a Friday night around 8pm and the dinner crowd was dying down but it was still a little busy. I wish I got our server’s name because he was fantastic. Both times we have ordered delivery we were quoted a wait time of around 45 min but they always seem to come in 30 or less!

This is by far the best sushi restaurant in San Antonio. Jasmine roll is incredible, Champion roll is great. The standard usual suspects are also crafted with more skill, attention to detail than most restaurants. I’ve eaten at them all, this is the one. Don’t let the name deceive you, this is a world class quality of sushi. Joshua, our server deserves a shout out. He let us try multiple sake shots to let us figure out which we wanted.

Great surprise! Only place I have been to that serves Kirin Light. Good wine and sake selection. The Tornado Potato appetizer is a must. A twisted potato on a skewer lighted fried in tempura. Very unique. Love the San Antonio Roll and the Stone Oak Roll.

Food is extremely good, although over priced, but what prevents a 5 star rating is the terrible service. This was our third time going, and every time we’ve had a different waitress who did not have great customer skills, nor some standard knowledge of the menu. They’ve repetitively been extremely slow to attend to us, or check up on us, also occasionally forgetting something we asked for. Although, it was nice to have the chef come out and personally serve us the(delicious) kalbi we ordered! I hope they put some kind of basic customer service training in place cause I’m sure that’d bump up customer retention!

I ventured further out on my dining trail for Sushi and discovered Sushi Express in the Hills of Stone Oak. I saw the expansive list of Sushi on the menu and had a few to try, but after overhearing a customer state that the wait was so long he wanted it off of his bill and would not be waiting any longer, I opted instead for Bulgolgi. The Unilocalers who visited this establishment did me a solid as I had several pictures to choose from, but according to my waitress the Sushi orders were backed up and it would be more beneficial to choose a selection that was prepared in the kitchen and I agreed… The Meal: My date and I dined on the Bulgogi accompanied by a Delicious Raspberry Tea and appetizer consisting of piping hot eggrolls.(Also Delicious) As a recent transplant from Yongsang, Korea I guess I had my hopes up very high thinking I would be transported back to Seoul after I took my first bite of Bulgogi. The meat seemed almost boiled as it was very light grey in color and very soft to bite. Typically the Bulgogi I’ve dined on has a slight crunch, soft center and caramelized coating from the sauces it’s marinated in once it’s been tossed around a bit in a cast iron skillet or hot plate. This meat was tender but definitely nothing I’d feel I need to try again as I’ve prepared much better on my George Foreman Grill and home skillet.(Thanks Pinterest) The prices were very affordable and our meal did come out quickly but by the end of the meal I didn’t even want to take home my leftovers… (0_o) I might add that I was severely disappointed that I ordered Sake from the Free Unilocal check-in and only realized after we were gone that our server neglected to bring it out. I doubt with the numerous selections in San Antonio that I will be returning and it was out of the way from where I reside anyway… Ms. Foodie

Yes. Yes. Everything yes. I was staying at the HI5 minutes away and was craving some sushi. I was also deathly lazy and Unilocaled what was in the area within a stone’s throw. I’m SO happy I tried Sushi Express. The korean appetizers were on point — tteoki boki and haemul pajeon, and the House Boat sushi was amaaaaazing. Everything hit the spot, and delivery didn’t take too long either. I will DEFINITELY come back(or have delivered again). YUM!

Very good miso soup! Tasted great. The soft shell crab tempura tasted great as well! The tornado potato was also a very interesting artwork. It’s a spiral– shaped potato on a stick, also very good. The Don was an interesting twist on the chirashi. It was a simplified chirashi and I didn’t realize that ordering it wouldn’t be as simple as ordering a mixed sashimi. I requested for hamachi and unagi but got 2 orders of don instead of a mixed order. Not happy that I had to pay for 2 dons. Loved my orders, visually appealing and tasted great on the palate.

Don’t be fooled by the name. This place is way better than«express». And they actually have both sushi and extensive Korean options. My friend and I came here on a whim after a daytrip in the hill country and I’m so glad we did! I didn’t care to go in because I thought it was going to be a chain due to its name. But I immediately knew I was wrong about my impression. The ambiance is modern and hip. We sat at the bar. Our server jasmine was super bubbly and attentive. We started off with spicy edamame which was deff decent though a bit too spicy. My friend ordered the Korean noodle soup and I got myself a bowl of seafood tofu soup. My order also comes with 7 side dishes, nice! They brought me a raw egg to crack and mix in my seafood tofu soup. That was awesome. I definitely enjoyed my hot asian soup which has always been my comfort food. I tried my friend’s noodle, it was very tasty too. The portion was huge but she finished it in no time. Overall my dining experience was far more than«express», it was excellent. I think they should consider changing their name to delicious sushi and Korean or something along the lines, lol. I’d totally come back to try more items on the menu. Oh and there is FREE sake with Unilocal check-in. Gotta get it next time!
