I’ve been here a number of times, almost always at the busiest times. The food is delicious! Tasty, California-style fresh Mex with a traditional twist. It’s so convenient, and the outside seating is very nice when the weather is good. The staff is generally on top of their game and super helpful. Occasional hiccups happen, but they are always ready to make it right. Today was one of those days, but it was still great. Call ahead for weekday lunch, or be prepared for a bit of a wait to order. But then just sit back and enjoy!

Since my friends were there before I got there, no wait! Haha! Great location, both indoor & outdoor seating. Have tv’s inside to enjoy which ever sport is going on, in our cause the Argentina & chile soccer game! When you look at the menu everything looks delicious. Our table went with: Bottomless mimosas Chilaquilles Breakfast burrito Mexican omelette Chicken tamales Horchata pancakes Ceviche Fries Everything is delicious, rich in flavor and not dry at all! honestly you cannot go wrong with anything you order! Unfortunately the hot hats pancakes were accidentally given to a different table so we had to wait a significantly long time for it & the waiter felt bad so he comped us the pancakes and still brought it out for us! which was extremely sweet of him! Overall great experience and definitely coming back.

This place is lively! The food is pretty good. Our party usually just order a bunch of small dishes to go with our tasty drinks. They can get very busy so I’m not going to be über critical of service which was good considering the crowd. I know there are a lot of douchey Unilocalers out there who aren’t happy unless the world is revolving around them. I’m not one of them. The proprietor, Jimmy is one stand up guy. He makes you feel like you’re a long time customer. He keeps the staff on their toes and he’s always open to suggestions. If you have kids, go early in the evening because this place can get very raucous with enthusiastic revelers. Especially on weekends.

Yo, this place is hella legit. What I mean is that this restaurant surprisingly has some innovative dishes that I, for one, am not used to seeing in the Peninsula! Yo, whas goin’ on? So, I got the chips and salsa to start which is a pretty customary thing in Mexican restaurants(duh!). But Nueve gives four fresh sauces to dip from. Tasty! What’s even better is that I ordered a smoked chicken salad and it came completely piled on with greens and chicken. Looks like a fancy place, but with portions of a down-home style restaurant. Service was really friendly and there’s a bar if you want to catch the game! Or a chess tournament. I like this place, a lot. It isn’t afraid to explore bold, new territories. Not sure what the nueve refers to, but I give this spot a diez.

We visited with some friends this past weekend for lunch and particularly to try the churro ice cream sandwiches. I ordered the enchilada which was tasty but small. My friend ordered the chilaquiles and was really disappointed. She felt like it was basically a pile of chips. Our husbands omelettes were ok as well. We also ordered the meatballs and rice which were sort of strange coming in a clear broth. We ordered the dessert and it took forever. When we asked about it, they said it was being made fresh. However, when it came, the churros were rock hard and were not fresh at all. Clearly they had just forgotten the dessert. We probably will not be back. Servers were friendly and helpful but seemed overwhelmed.

Every time I go to Nueve the staff and owner are very friendly and service is great! I love the chips salsa and guacamole the best! My favorite dishes are the salads and the street tacos. Never bad a bad meal there. Highly recommend it to anyone. Great environment for kids as well.

Went for lunch — nice atmosphere, good presentation but surprisingly tasteless food and poor service! I visited the restaurant with my parents for our first time while visiting the area. The atmosphere is quite lively, with attractive décor and music to fit the mood. However, we had to approach the bartender and ask him if he could seat us after we waited over 10 minutes for a hostess to greet us. Seems they were understaffed or that she was multitasking as a waitress and hostess. We didn’t let it bother us too much as we liked the ambience. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which was okay. Not the best I’ve had because it was quite simple. For the appetizer, my parents had the tortilla soup which was quite tasty. For the main, they shared the tacos — shrimp, chicken and fish. The waitress brought their main course a few seconds after she served the soup. By the time they were ready to have the entrée, it was sooo cold and unenjoyable. Not only were the tacos cold, but, like my Huevos Rancheros, it was very basic and tasteless for Mexican food. The meal was comprised of cold meat, onions and cilantro. No fiery salsas, no whipped sour cream, no zesty guacamole, no crisp lettuce, no flavorful beans, no freshly grated cheese. Disappointing!

My friends and I met up here for dinner during a Warriors game so I guess we should’ve expected a full house with drinking parties and families and children all in one setting. Because this was the only annoying part of the night. The table beside us spouting drunk nonsense and a child behind us screaming for half the night. Besides that, the food was delicious. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and my friends ordered the Chicken Quesadillas and Chicken Enchiladas. Too bad I didn’t get a picture of the enchiladas because that was my favorite! Each dish came with three things so we were able to try each of them. Yay for making your own sampler platters with a party of 3! I’m thinking too much slaw on the tacos and not enough shrimp. I didn’t really care for the quesadilla. The enchilada was just soft and yummy and delicious. It really hit the spot. I also got the Churro Ice Cream Sandwich Duo. It was disappointing. The churro was way too soft and soggy that it crumbled in my hand. The Patron XO Café sauce was delicious by itself. Very sweet and thick with a hint of alcohol. I think these items would be good separately. Maybe just churros with a drizzle of Patron XO Café sauce and a side of ice cream.

All time worst service ever! This wasn’t the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd time, but on the forth we walked out after sitting idle for 20 minutes… AND…it wasn’t even busy. The first 3 times we tolderated the bad service. We always believed the next time would improve but it never did. When your own children beg you not to take them to Nueve it really makes you wonder. I believe in supporting local businesses but enough is enough. It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We asked to sit outside. Not only were the tables filthy but the flooring is caked with old food, bird poopy and swarming flys. Perhaps power washing??? They had no unbrellas on the patio, apparently they were all broken. All that aside we patiently waited for someone to serve us but no one ever did. After 10 minutes 2 other people were seated outside. 10 more minutes pass and finally the watier appears and goes to the table who sat after us. At that moment I snapped and said lets go. The waiter is the same lousy guy that we had the previous 3 times! Cinco de mayo was even worse. My husband and I were there 2 ½ hours. Not even the courteous to comp a drink or appetizer, even to offer an apology would have been acceptable, but nothing! The table behind us… we became friends real fast, felt sorry for them, it took an hour to get 2 cokes. We all laughed about it, it’s all we could do. So outrageous and unacceptable. It’s an unfortuanate situation, we consider ourselves good customers, even with bad service we always tip 20%. We want to support local businesses but forget this one. I think we’ll stick with Celia’s. I’m serious when I say it’s TORTURE eating at Nueve. They lost a great customer in us. I won’t ever return. Four times is far too many chances. P. S. One word of advise to the owners… the bartender, who I think might be the owners son, stop wearing the«red» hat backwards. It’s inapproiate in a restuarant.

I’ve been wanting to write a review for this place but for some reason I just never got around to it! Today I joked with my husband and said«thank god this place is an hour away from our house» if it was closer to home we would be here 2 – 3 times a week! The food is AMAZINGLY I try to always order something different from their menu and Out of the 10 times I’ve been here I was only disappointed once! I ordered the chilaquiles that day and I was sad when I received nachos instead! My all time favorite dish is the pozole it literally tastes like my moms cooking! I started coming here when I was pregnant and Pozole was one of my cravings! I’m no longer pregnant and I got the chance to try out their bottomless mimosa I’m a huge mimosa girl and I was super excited but my waiter did make me feel like I was asking for to much when I asked for a refill! It was kind of awkward so I wouldn’t recommend this place for this option!

I absolutely love this place, its definitely one of the best go to restaurants in San Bruno. I usually come in the mornings while they have their brunch menu going on and during the weekends they serve bottomless mimosas! They have two separate menus, one for breakfast and one for dinner time. It’s a perfect place to eat with both family and friends, it has a very friendly and welcoming vibe. The staff is extremely sweet and very knowledgable on the menu. They don’t usually take reservations so its smart to come in a little earlier to avoid a long wait. They also have outdoor seating with a heated patio that allows dogs. The Horchata pancakes(only on the breakfast menu) and Nueve fries are a definite must! Plus they have daily happy hour which has never been a bad thing :)

This gem is hidden in the bayhill shopping center. It has nice décor and open space. Plenty of seating inside and out. The space is painted well and very clean. The food is above average and presentation was pretty. — The horchata pancakes were smothered in this caramel/milk sauce topped with coconut and bananas. It sounds sweet but it was the perfect balance. The bottom layers of pancake was a bit dry, so it would have been nice if they drizzled some sauce in between the layers. — The tacos were served with this amazing spicy green sauce and was superb. The fish tacos was especially delicious. The batter was light and crispy. — The carnitas hash was served with A LOT of beans, but overall was a decent dish. — The chilequiles was great and adding an egg makes a difference. I would have liked the option to include meat in this dish as it was just chips smothered in sauce and queso. They do serve bottomless mimosas and leave a bottle on your table! The reason for 4 stars is because the service can be better. When I called to make reservations, the hostess sounded bored and unprofessional. Our waitress probably checked on us once since we received our food and then we had to flag her down for the rest of our experience. Overall, I liked this place and wouldn’t mind going again either for brunch or for dinner.

This 1 star is for my experience today– Easter. If there was such a thing as a negative star Id give that instead. I called on Friday to ask if they take reservations. A man said to call back Saturday if there were«still reservations available». I asked about their hours on Sunday and he said«we open at 8am everyday.» I called Saturday and a lady informed me that no reservations were being taken for Easter, there was a limited menu, and that they open at 8am. I actually called back later on to confirm their«limited menu», and also to confirm the hours. AGAIN… I was informed they open at 8am. Ok got it. i was told THREE times by 3 different employees, 8am. My family and I are here on Easter at 840am and the closed sign is still up. ALL the chairs are still on top of the tables. There are 2 people inside sitting. Not even taking down the chairs. And didnt even come to the door. We tried to call and no one even got up to answer the phone. I had a much better experiece my first time here. But I would definitely definitely not recommend this restaurant. Inconsistency and laziness and unprofessionalism are completely unacceptable and has caused quite an inconvenience today!!!

Nueve is a swanky little spot in San Bruno. My friends and I were looking for a new brunch spot to try in the area, and I remembered that another one of my friends had been here for the bottomless mimosas. We had a reservation for 5 people on a Sunday afternoon, but weren’t seated until about 10 minutes past our reservation time. Our table had the chips and guac/salsas to start. I tried the horchata pancakes and my boyfriend ordered the carnitas hash. My pancakes were good, though I didn’t taste too much of the horchata. They are very similar to a bananas foster, but could have used more sauce. I would recommend ordering extra sauce on the side. My boyfriend enjoyed the carnitas hash, but we both had leftovers since the serving sizes were so huge. We also tried a few of the fries that came along with the house burger, which were sweet, rather than salty. Surprisingly, not bad! Nueve could improve a bit on the service, but other than that, I would like to come back for happy hour or to try the bucket of beer or bottomless mimosas. There are a couple large flat screen TVs, so it would be fun to catch a game here. Til next time!

I’ve been here during happy hour and Sunday Brunch and I can’t help but notice a reoccurring theme in their service. Call me crazy but they seem not attentive in serving their customers alcohol rather they stall. I’ve had brunch here a couple of times and I literally would have to flag down our waiter to get a refill on our bottomless mimosa. Plus they are strict and cut you off after 3pm. Similar issue I had during happy hour. A couple of friends and I wanted to get another round of sangrias(preferably the red) before happy hour ended, but our waiter took forever to come to our table. By the time they arrived to our table, happy hour ended and of course drinks were full price again. Now it’s no issue paying full price for drinks, but most people do go to happy hour for the discounted food and drinks. Setting aside the service, their food is decent. If there’s anything worth trying that’s their Nueve fries. It’s tangy flavor gives it an extra kick. Their Potato Pancake Benedict was good but I was just overwhelmed by the amount of black beans they put on the dish, which seemed to overpower the plate. I also have tasted their tacos– carne asada, pollo, and fish, with carne asada being my favorite full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I ordered their carne asada fajitas and once again the carne asada does not disappoint. Overall, I would come back here simply because it’s a convenience. It’s a convenient bottomless mimosa brunch spot not in SF where parking is free.

My new favorite place. I know some reviews are not the greatest because they had to wait a long time, but my review is for dinner only. I showed up 3 times, did wait, but no more than 10 minutes. I clearly saw that they were busy, even at 9pm. I can’t complain, because I’ve waited a lot longer for other places. I ordered the calamari once and the fries as starters. I really enjoyed the fries. It had a sweet, tangy taste which I enjoyed a lot. The proportion for the fries was good too. For the entrees, we ordered the arroz a la tumbada once, and the enchiladas with green sauce twice. I LOVED the rice. It was packed with flavor and the amount of seafood was great as well. They were not greedy with their portions, so that was a plus. The margaritas were delicious too. I will have to say that I did not like the churros. They were pretty hard and were missing something. Can’t figure it out yet. Maybe vanilla bean ice cream on the side? Unless they are melt in your mouth soft, I don’t think we will be getting churros again. The wait staff was great all three times. We got assisted all the times, and yea, maybe my water wasn’t filled all the time, but I clearly saw how busy they were. The chef even dropped off our food. That’s when you know. I will be coming back for brunch sometime soon.

Great service. This place was really nice to go check out for brunch. It used to be a Taco Bell at this location so I’m glad they replaced it with this place! I had the Chilango omelet which came with an assortment of veggies and cheese and a delicious DELICIOUS sauce on the side. I wasn’t sure if it was chipotle but it was creamy and delicious. I tried some of the horchata pancakes and they were delicious too(probably a little too dense for my taste). Overall, fun place and delicious brunch items. Haven’t been for lunch but I’d want to try it out.

Funny story: I actually came for the Horchata Pancakes. But when I got there looking at the menu… I realized. I actually dont like coconut, I actually dont like bananas on/in anything except by itself, I actually dont like horchata, I actually dont like PANCAKES. HAHA. My friends laughed, «so the chance that you’d actually like this is less than 2%»…BUTTTTTT… I got it anyways: p I KNOW, its my problem that I chose something I probably would not like but it’s NOT the reason for the 3 stars. Overall the food were all pretty tasty, but not enough to blow my mind away. .:Food:. Horchata Pancakes $ 11: Cajeta, Sauteed bananas, toasted coconuts. pretty good, I liked it more than 2% hahah. The pancake was super fluffy, but it was a bit dry, not enough syrup/sauce. Carnitas Hash $ 10: Eggs, carnitas, papas con rajas, roasted guajillo arbol salsa, LOTSOF charros beans, cilantro, red onions. BIG kick of spice to this ahha. but the carnita was very tender and melt in your mouth kind of meat. Breakfast burrito $ 10: Eggs, chorizo, oaxaca, charros beans, red onions, cilantro, crema, salsa roja, salsa tomatillo, papas con rajas. the green sauce was pretty good with a kick of spice, and the red sauce although red was not spicy. Liked this a lot. However, the potatoes were a bit dry. Portions were actually quite big. None of us finished our food. .: Service/Wait time/Parking/Atmosphere:. –Parking, not a problem at all. Big parking lot. –On a Sunday at around 11:00am, wait time was about 30 – 35 min(even though the hostess told us 10 minutes when we arrived. –Everyone was quite friendly, nothing to complain about there. Food got to us in a timely manner. –The place itself was pretty cute. Festive art work hung around the walls. It felt like a very family oriented kind of brunch place as there were big groups of family all around us.
