Update: my mom and I have become regulars here! Their service is great and we always feel welcomed. My favorite has become their Titanic roll. My mom and I were lost as to where to eat but we were craving sushi. My sister who lives near the area suggested this place. I ordered a Lion King roll and assorted sashimi. The food was so fresh! The good food and friendly service quickly made it one of my new favorite places.

This is a great spot for delicious, fresh sushi. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the sushi is great. You can’t ask for more.

Came here randomly after a long day and was pleasantly surprised! We were greeted with edamame and smiles and served very quickly after placing our order. We started with the sunomo, not as light as I would expect for a salad but tasty. The chirasi bowl came with well portioned cuts of fish including a tomago. Our favorite was the udon, cool noodles, very warm broth and delicious. Will certainly come back when looking for a place to dine in the area.

Sunny sushi is a small restaurant in the bay hill shopping center. I once ordered sushi and while I was waiting I was being stared down by the sushi makers. Which made it awkward. I couldn’t wait to get my food and get out of there. Sushi was good tho!

Food is okay. The service is horrible. Witnessed the waitress belittled a customer because he complained about the chicken.

If you are looking for a good quality but cheap Japanese bentos and rolls?, and you’re around the area, this is your place to be. Love their tempura mix here. I always had to get the FIRECRACKERROLL!!! Yum. They’re also one of the few Japanese places that doesn’t close on MONDAYS! I also live close by, so I always go here to pick up take out or call it in and they do them so fast and efficient. ARIGATO Sunny Sushi for your amazing service!

Last time I came in here it was with a four-year-old, now he’s a 10-year-old. So the restaurant has changed. For the better. Came in with the wife. Ordered a lot of different sushi. Was kind impressed by the freshness and the fast pace of getting the orders out. Slices were generous and filling. The grilled squid kind elect flavor and lacked sauces. Restaurant felt kind of cramped tables too close together you could hear the conversation next table. Overall pleased with the restaurant now come again.

This is my go to sushi place. The fish is always fresh. Service is prompt and friendly. I have been coming here for over 5 years. It’s a nice family owned restaurant. Nothing amazing, but always good! I’ve never been disappointed.

0 stars… it’s Wednesday 2−24−16 The fish was very«fishy» smelling… got home 45 minutes later and puked it all out, it made me so sick… I’m a weekly sushi consumer and this is one of the worst I’ve had

This place is yummy! We have been going here for some time now. Got the salmon teriyaki and the chicken karaage. I preferred the salmon teriyaki… and they give you a generous amount. They also give you soup and edamame to start for dinner. Got the TItanic Roll and that’s delicious! My family enjoyed it – it included shrimp tempura and spicy sauces on top. The service was good and we all left satisfied!

Ehhh… this place isn’t like amazing but it isn’t bad either. I tend to come here with friends just because of how big their portion sizes are and just how fresh the sashimi is. I would say that they do have awkward hours though since they are closed on Saturday’s…but maybe they get their fish shipment that day??? I don’t know. Atmosphere wise — It’s a little strange. The background music is similar to what you would hear in an asian supermarket. All instrumental. The noise does pick up with a lot of chatter if the restaurant is packed with customers though. Service — I would say that it’s pretty good. They’re welcoming and very nice. Food — 1. Teriyaki chicken — Really good! Very juicy and full of flavor… definitely not dry! They also give a pretty big portion of it too. 2. Dragon roll — It was alright… it didn’t blow me away. Very standard. 3. Rock n’ roll — It was okay… again, very standard. 4. Caterpillar roll — It was pretty good but they skimped on the avocado. 5. Salmon sashimi — Very fresh! Definitely a winner. Pretty standard pricing for what you get. Definitely get more bang for your buck if you get one of the lunch/dinner combos. I’ll probably come back if I’m in the area.

Decent sushi in San Bruno — Not the best, but not the worst either. Lunch special is very affordable. I had the sashimi with spicy salmon sushi combo and it was good. It also comes with rice, salad and miso soup. I couldnt finish all that rice, and it definitely kept me full! Not a bad lunch spot.

A hidden restaurant gem located at the center of Bayhill Shopping Center next to Starbucks. First time eating at this place and let me tell you how wonderfully delicious the sushi plates tasted. The staff were kind and friendly. I would definitely return back to try even more dishes they have on their menu!

I am very picky with sushi restaurants and I’ll admit, I was very hesitant to try Sunny Sushi. I gave it a shot today and it exceeded my expectations. The staff was really nice and they checked-in on us regularly. Our waitress even offered low sodium soy sauce which waiters never offer without being asked. Edamame was free, and delicious, and the hot tea was really good too. My husband and I ordered the Deep Fried California roll, Ebi Honey Walnut roll, Crunchy roll, and the seaweed salad appetizer. Everything was delicious! I was especially impressed with the Ebi Honey Walnut roll. It was reminiscent of walnut prawns but it was topped with avocados. So yummy! I definitely recommend trying this place. Great food, very nice and attentive staff, and this complex has good parking.

We were already hanging out at Starbucks in the Bayhill shopping center so we wanted to grab some sushi dinner. My boyfriend is a fisherman(so I am spoiled!), but he said the fish is good, so I trust his judgment. Because I am picky I am rating this 3 stars but the fish itself is pretty fresh, especially considering we were in San Bruno! I would give it 4 stars but needless to say, it would not be my first choice and I’d be willing to drive a bit to get better quality made sushi. 6:30pm on a Friday night, we found the last table for 2. It kept getting more and more crowded as the night continued, so be patient especially if you have 3 or more in your group. The restaurant is Chinese run — the service was great. Nothing out of the norm. Lots of parking. Without alcohol we paid around $ 32/person. They were out of the Oseki sake, and the UNI prob because it was was on special for $ 7.95(for 2 pieces) so I was sad, but they made up for it with the Oyster special. they were on the smaller side but they were packed with juicy flavor. The Amaebi was good, not as full and juicy as I’m used to, and the rice was decent – not soft enough but at least not cold and hard. The San Bruno roll(soft shell crab) was alright. a little heavy handed on the rice and tempura flakes poured all over the top of it(refer to pics I posted). The Maguro and Hamachi sashimi were big juicy pieces, glad we ended on that note. Altogether, the fish itself is fresh, it just needs to be prepared better, like better rice. By my standards it’s a 3.5 but I have to give it 3 stars so it can be comparable to my other reviews.(Sorry Sunny Sushi!) Not sure why their website doesn’t work… and I wish I had uni because I’m an uni fanatic, but besides that I’d come to eat here again. It wouldn’t be my first choice but if in the area, I’d hit it up.

Beware, there site does not work and their menu here on Unilocal, the prices are totally off. Sadly, I should have known this. Was a first timer coming here, food was good, but price was high than I expected to pay. Someone needs to update the info. Another note, they didn’t provide me with a receipt with the items and prices. She kept it for herself and only gave me my transaction receipt. Maybe to hid the prices!?? Lol

We always get great service here — every single time. I’m so happy to have found this spot. We were going to another sushi spot in San Bruno and to be quite frank, they were rude and unfriendly even though we frequented them often(2 – 3 times a month). Now we have found Sunny Sushi and love them. The portions are great, the fish is fresh, the rice perfect. We love the combos, the rolls, the sashimi, the nigiri and of course, their miso soup is «da bomb». The ladies who seat us are like old friends now. We love that. We always feel welcome. They are always pretty busy but not too busy to seat us. I also love that the location already looked pretty good but they just did a remodel anyway. They keep it clean which is SO important to me. See my pics :) nom nom nom

$ 7.95 for a 2-item lunch bento. I had chicken teriyaki(tasted boiled and topped with bottled sauce) and the mixed tempura(2 shrimps are included but the pale color of the tempura was a bit unappetizing). Quality isn’t the greatest but you pay for what you get. I also tried the Fuji Volcano Roll($ 9.95) and although its base is a spicy tuna roll, it wasn’t spicy at all. Also, it almost tasted dry as if it was fried for too long. Service was friendly and it really does feel sunny inside(very bright and clean).
