A winery in BayHo… Within walking distance from my house… With amazing red wine… How does it get any better than that?!! The owners and wine makers are super friendly and knowledgeable… They’ve been doing this for a while bc they’ve had a successful location in Julian for years. So if the hours seem kinda weird well that’s bc they’re running both locations and trying to get more regular hours for us new guys in BayHo. Just give a quick call before you go… And if you drive by and see that cute little blue door sign lit up you MUST stop in and try some vino. It will not disappoint.

Fantastic urban wine bar. Sometimes Unilocal pulls through and brings me to a little gem. This is one of those times. We did the wine tasting — 5 pours for $ 10. Delicious red wines, an unexpectedly cool space, and a knowledgable and super friendly host, Abby, made our visit a great one. We’ll be back again soon. A little hard for us to find but look for the yellow patio umbrella in front as your landmark.

BayHo now has a winery and it is awesome. This is one of those places I don’t want to tell you about because I don’t want it to be crowded. BUT, I also want it to be successful, so… Going to CostCo last night I saw some sort of fire heater by the sidewalk. I said to my girlfriend«What’s that?» and she said«Kitchen 4140.» «No, it’s not… I don’t think…» So on the way home, we look again and realize it’s Blue Door Urban Winery! Of course, we’re on the ramp back to Balboa and home to Crown Point, so what could we do? Well, we pulled a u-ie at Mission Bay Drive and went back(duh… do you know me?). Unpretentious, smart, affordable and pleasant. They had one of those painting classes going on while we were there, but there was plenty of room for non-painters such as ourselves. Abbey was working the bar and was on point for questions and making sure our round of flights was solid. They tend to favor reds, which works well for me. Their sangria was excellent too! We’re incredibly stoked Blue Door Winery is a thing and can’t wait to go back when we’re NOT coming home from CostCo.

We did the flight tonight and my favorite was the Cabernet Franc. Light with olive tones. Very Italian scented to me. Joining the Wine Club was an easy decision getting 2 bottles a quarter plus a free glass anytime you come in plus 20% off a case. Nice!

Joined the wine club on 6⁄15 and was told I could bring a guest and both tastings would be complimentary. Brought a guest 2 weeks later and was told«we don’t do that anymore» and my guest was charged $ 10. Not only that, but they didn’t even have 5 different types of wine to choose from for the 5 wines tasting flight. Was told«we’re a small production boutique winery» therefore it’s possible for the menu to be shortened on any given day. Canceling my membership immediately. There are plenty of other urban wineries in San Diego that offer a larger wine selection and complimentary tastings for you and a guest. Blue Door Winery is not one of those wineries.

Very cool winery and close to home. Stopped in for the first time a week ago this past Friday and ended up joining their wine club. My girl friend and I both enjoy reds so we tried their tastings first to see what they were like. All were good but kep getting better from the initial blend to Petite Sirah and Merlot. We’ve been back two times since and since you can drink free as a member plan to stop by now and then after Costco or to have a glass before or after dinner. Mark the owner is very friendly and will give you the history of the company and new wines they’re coming out with. Have already been spreading to word to friends. Dog friendly and you can bring your own food in if you’d like to enjoy with your wine. Update 10÷20÷15 We really like this place and want to support them but I have to say we have an issue since they changed their wine club policy. When we first joined in June, both my girl friend and I were able to enjoy a glass of wine at n/c as wine club members. A little over a month into our member ship we were informed that they only allow one member to drink n/c and they charge for the second person. I don’t agree with changing the program after members have already joined and been told one thing. We like both Mark and Kam the owners and appreciate their position of having to make decisions to keep the business going. We even went up to help them harvest grapes up in Valley Center in August for 5 hours early on a Sunday. We’ve been charged for our Sept wine shipment but at this point I haven’t been in to pick it up yet as my girl friend and I have recently gone up to Orfila where they give there members not just two tastings but 4 so you can invite another couple as well. Granted this is a much larger operation but you need to offer something to your members especially for the prices they charge for a bottle of wine. Again, I can appreciate the struggles of being a small winery but at the same time you need to keep people coming back and it doesn’t sit well now being a wine club member that I have to pay $ 10 if I want to take my girl friend in with me to enjoy a glass of wine. I haven’t been in there in a month and a half now as I haven’t felt comfortable with the change so I’m not even taking advantage of my membership. :-( If they had to make a change they should have started it the month of next wine club membership and notified the members of the upcoming change ahead of time to allow them to decide if they want to continue or not.

I found Blue Door on Unilocal, conveniently located where I could meet some friends and clients before our commitment that evening two doors down. What a pleasant surprise! Not only were the owners friendly and welcoming, but the offerings were outstanding and impressive! We learned all about the history of the«Blue Door» and I’m pretty sure my favorite aspect of this wine bar is their precious 16 year old mascot, their doggy! Too cute! I love the high ceilings, the wine barrels that flank the interior, and even the wooden planks they designed in their ladies room! I hope everyone will support this place! It’s wonderful to see the passion and expertise bring the blvd alive!

Owner and worker were really nice. They chatted us up. Winery is nice, but has a bit of a fruit fly problem. Hopefully it is something they can fix soon.

This place is great. The couple that owns it are extremely nice. They have a great deal with their wine club and I definitely recommend joining. They vint all of their own wines and they specialize in reds. I honestly stop in at least 2 to 3 times a week. Great atmosphere and amazing wine.

I’m definitely a fan! I love that this place exist here! They pair with Kitchen 4140 for snacks. Once you’re done tasting, head over to Kitchen for dinner! They offer Tasting flight for $ 10 or $ 15 if you want the glass i guess. The selection was phenomenal. I was even shocked that I very much enjoyed a Zin! The owners are super nice and their dog too! Nonetheless, this please has been opened since July! wow! goes to show you what a brand newly lit sign will do. You got my attention! Can’t wait to come back to taste!

There are two Unilocal listings for here, so I’m leaving a review for both… Not at all a fan of red wines or anything that isn’t sweet, but tonight I had a 2013 Zin(Peaceful Oaks Ranch) that I definitely liked. It had a nice, smooth finish, and the peppery taste of the Zin wasn’t at all overpowering. Certainly a bottle I could see myself purchasing. Service was very friendly and it’s perfect to stop by for a quiet drink.

Popped into the tasting room while in Julian today. Tried the flight and walked out joining the wine club. If you like reds this is the place for you. The owner was working behind the counter and was super knowledgeable and you could tell had a passion for the wines he made!

Local and delicious… Why go all the way to Temecula when you can have the best local Sangiovese here in SD proper. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a great wine flight before or after fighting the Costco parking lot abortion. Awesome reds/great people/best winery mascot(Sebastian). Cheers
