OMG! You have to stop! Who knew you could get a great steak sub on the west coast. Food was awesome. I had the the mushroom steak sub 12 in with fries. Food was flavorful and good portion. Fries were tasty and fresh. Our friends had the garlic fries and devoured them. We left full and emptied our plates.

A cheesesteak either works or it doesn’t. There is no in between. I visited this location about four years ago. Simply outstanding. After returning, however, was shocked by the lack of meat for price and size paid. A cheesesteak should be overflowing. My steak was swarming in bread. I’m guessing they are shaving ingredients to cut costs. It did not work. Not even close.

I’ve been here many times. It’s always been very good. Unfortunately not the case this time. The cheesesteak today was mostly gristle, just poor. I shared it w my wife and she said the same. What a bummer as we were looking forward to a good Gaglione cheesesteak after a long and busy week. We’ll go back of course, and hopefully it won’t happen again.

Update to 4 stars because the owner reached out to me since my previous review, which I appreciate. Plus I’m really craving their garlic fries right now!

Update: Accidentally reviewed on wrong site & mixed up my review with another review I was working on. Sincerely Mother Of Three :) OMGWHYDIDN’T I STOPHEREASMANYTIMESAS I’VEDRIVENBYIT! I absolutely love cheesesteaks. The cheese, the spices, & the veggies taste delicious. They know what they’re doing when it comes to spices & proportions. The 12″ was big enough for me to share with my 10 year old &5 year old. I’m glad I found somewhere that has a great family and late night stop ambiance, & awesome staff! The guy behind the grill was super friendly & Kayla was extremely helpful & patient with our indecisive children! Oh & before I forget GARLICFRIES! Kayla was the one who extended we try them & we did! I love garlic anything & these GARLICFRIES were the icing on the cake for my love of this place, actual garlic chunks not just some fries sprinkled with garlic salt, ahhh I need to go back just talking about it makes me hungry. We will be back soon.

Oh man oh man oh man. I love this place. Every single item on the menu is delicious. From the cheese steaks to the fries — you will be satisfied! There is a condiment bar with peppers and other goodies. Favorite is the mushroom steak. Always a winner.

My husband and I just moved from San Diego and we used to love going to this place, it was actually one of the last places we went before we left. We loved to get the cheesestake with mushroom and jalapeños. And while you’re at it get some garlic fries, they’re great! Just do it in small doses, if you try to eat a bunch you’re going to have some garlicy breath!

Great sandwiches at Gaglione Brothers, I got the Philly Cheesesteak with mushrooms and it was delicious. With splitting an order of cheese wiz fries, it was a big meal and I saved half of my sandwich for later. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. Décor was casual but with some fun personal items of the family, made it feel very local.

Got the cheesesteak Philly and shared with my sister. Maybe I’m not a big fan of Phillys but it wasn’t amazing. Lacked flavor :(and the bread is meh. Not being super critical, just saying it’s not my cup of tea. We all have our preferences.

3 stars may be a little too generous(more like 2.5). Based on existing reviews, it’s really quite a toss-up on what to expect. I don’t know or have been to any sandwich/sub place that would take over 35 minutes to get our food. It was just so ridiculously long that I almost wanted to ask for refund. Only two customers were in front of me so I thought that I should get my food relatively soon but nope. The guy working on the grill was so inefficient and basically seemed to be making every sandwich one at a time. If you have a bunch of steak sandwiches coming out, you’d think they’d know to cook a bunch of steak instead of per order right? Nope, not here. After finally getting my sandwiches, I noticed a pretty large difference in the amount of steak present in the sandwich. Refer to my pictures and you’ll see visibly the steak portion discrepancy. Sadly this was not a good experience for me. Slow service, inconsistent portioning of the meat, and staff that don’t seem like they want to be there, makes for a overall bad experience for me. Won’t be a returning customer. The amount of time I had to wait for a mediorce sandwich is ridiculous here and it seems consistent to what others have complained about.

Their cheese steak and garlic fries were pretty good. The bread was toasted just right.

I was having an argument with a friend. I thought that there was no such thing as too much garlic. Well, Gaglione Brother proved me wrong and him right. Their garlic fries are covered with actual piles of raw garlic and it’s more than I can handle. Fortunately, it’s easy to brush them off to get down to your preferred level. Add lots of plastic cheese sauce and you have a nice serving of fat to balance out the garlic bite! No cheesesteaks for me, but I’m happy to report that the vegetarian sandwich is delicious. It comes hot or cold with a choice of cheeses and avocado. There are lots of generous toppings, with options like grilled onions and mushrooms in addition to the usual lettuce/tomato/mustard fare. I came in with a big group and we overwhelmed the poor shop, but they did an excellent job of handling all our orders and making sure that we were all fed. Thanks!

I usually go for the«General» packed with pastrami and slaw, but this time I went to for the 9″ «Sofia Loren» hot with Capicolla, salami, pepperoni, and Provolone cheese with all the fixings and some Italian dressing. I made it a combo for and extra $ 2.99 which got me regular fries and a drink. All three meats were very tasty and of good quality. I would of liked of seen a little more of each, but then again I really like my meats in my sandwich to go bang! The provolone was nice and the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh. The pepperoncinis were flavorful and not all spicy. I liked that they put just the right amount of Italian dressing that enhanced the sandwich but not overwhelm it. The bread was lightly toasted and had a good moist texture. You can get garlic or regular fries. The regular fries ordered were very good. The had a light crispiness and arrived piping hot. They came with a good seasoning and were great to eat with the marinated roasted peppers I put on top. Good fries. You can also get chips if you want. The employees were all very nice and up beat.

Waaaaaaay better dining in than when I delivered. Coming from the east coast, this is the best cheesesteak I’ve found INSANDIEGO. The flavor was great as was the gooey cheesiness. They have Pepsi products so beware of that but everything else, service, quality, even the pricing is right. So many people say it’s over priced… Really? I think it’s at par. Did you expect $ 5 foot longs? Nope. It’s just right.

I’m a jersey girl and us jersey girls take our cheesesteaks very seriously. I normally wouldn’t get a cheesesteak in california, I tend to stick to the Philly cheesesteaks made back home, but after reading the reviews of the gaglione bros. I decided to give them a try. The very first thing I noticed was that they offer their cheesesteaks with whiz, something I’ve only ever seen in Philly, so that right there made me instantly like the place! The staff was super friendly and the prices are good! I only gave a 4 star review because the steak was a little more fatty than I like it. If you’re from the Philadelphia area and you’re craving a cheesesteak in California then definitely go here! I would most certainly go back! **Please note: I will only state the truth and facts as I personally experienced them. I have no reason to lie or create misconceptions about the places I review. My family and I frequently visit these areas and places therefore my reviews are for my own future reference as much as they are for your decision making process. Lying in my reviews would be lying to myself.

Always delicious at Gaglione Brothers. We’ve been here many times and their service and food has always been great. They have either cheez whiz or provolone cheese, so you can pick a sandwich with which ever one you prefer. We normally get their Mushroom Cheesesteak… meat, mushrooms, grilled onions, and provolone cheese to help hold everything together. We’ve tried the fries regular, with cheese whiz, and with garlic & cheez whiz. No matter how you get them, they’re always thick and crisp. Get the cheez whiz on the side if you don’t want your fries covered in it. And, be careful with the garlic because you’ll definitely have garlic breath afterwards. The Cheez Steak Fries(not to be confused with the wider cut fries) is like their version of carne asada fries — fries, chopped up steak, and cheez whiz. And it’s not just a side order, it’s a large serving of it. Very good, too. We definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for some yummy philly cheesesteak sandwiches and fries.

The first time I sampled Gaglione Brothers was during a Unilocal event. It was good, but I only got a quarter sandwich taste, so I finally made it out to try a full order when I was passing through the area on my way to a concert nearby and decided to get my pre-show eats here. The only time I can justify having Cheese Whiz is on a cheeseteak, but anticipating a lot of heaviness, I somehow wanted to slightly offset that by getting some vegetables in there, so the staff suggested I get a Cheesesteak Hoagie and sub in the Whiz. I also got a side of Garlic Fries. As predicted, the Cheez Whiz was generously smothered on top of the steak, and I was satisfied with the portion of the sandwich. The fries were crispy and pretty garlicky(also as expected). I was able to finish the cheesesteak, but not the fries so I wouldn’t mind just getting regular fries next time. And luckily I had my Unilocal mint tin with me or the concert-goers around me might have suffered. Extra notes: Toppings and sauces available at the fountain. Restroom is in the back. Service was fine, though orders were taking a little long to come out with only two working the kitchen and call-ins seeming to be prioritized. I did miss the turn when coming off of the freeway as others have mentioned, so first timers should look of for that. Otherwise, I enjoyed a solid cheesesteak and now know where I can get a good one whenever I’m around here again.

AMBIENCE: the original gaglione brothers in San Diego. A small, somewhat hidden place in a plaza right after you exit the freeway. FOOD: I love the variety of condiments you have to choose from to dress your sandwich, all those chili’s and peppers!!! So if you are ever in the mood for a hardy sandwich not like subway. I always get the Mushroom Philly Cheese Steak with Garlic Fries and it’s always so satisfying. SERVICE: great staff and fast service.
