They have a great selection of sandwiches. And I have to say that French fries are top notch. The employees are always friendly and have a smile when you walk in.

Until today, really loved this place. Tried calling in an order and no answer. We went there and waited while phone orders being taken, very frustrated! Waited another 40 min for 4 sandwiches/2 fries and then got home to find we received a 9in sandwich when we paid for a 12in. Our family will not be returning despite the food. And to top it off my husbands sandwich was supposed to be a general and it was a philly with onions!

Fabulous, delicious, delightful cheesesteak, perfect in every way and better than those available in Philadelphia. If you are a visitor or resident take advantage of this wonderful offering. You will want to write a 5 star review too. Before boarding the train in Philadelphia for our return trip to Washington DC we stopped in at the Reading Terminal Market and bought take-out at Spataro’s Cheesesteaks. I ordered the #1, an authentic Philly Cheesesteak, fries and drink. After settling on the train I opened by dinner and enjoyed it very much. BUT, right here in San Diego you can step inside Gaglione Brothers Famous Steaks & Subs and order a Philly Cheesesteak at least one star better than the authentic one in Philadelphia. Very highly recommended.

Love this place. I have never stayed to eat here as the place is on the smaller side. 3 kids makes it kinda cramped. The food here is great. As a Philly transplant this is my go to cheesesteak spot. Close to home and friendly workers. I have never been in and not gotten a hello and a smile. The place has been clean every time I have gone in. They have Tastykake so that is a big plus for me. I feel the secret to a great cheesesteak is the bread. This place has it down. I am a wiz wit out add mushrooms kinda guy. They make is great. I pass on the fries as they don’t hold up to the drive home but taste great fresh. The Wife gets the Turkey and it’s one of her favorite things to order. Cold beer, nice workers and great food make this place a must.

The cheese steak hoagie is my favorite. Usually get the 18 inch and split it… their garlic fries are pretty good too… I’ve been here numerous times and have never been disappoited. Will definetly be back again and again… the sandwiches are amazing… never tried their specialty sandwiches but have had most of their cheesestake sandwiches and loved them all. Good amount of quality meat.

I love gags. I’ve been eating here for years and love it. My husband and I usually come here once a week. Lately I have loved the chicken club on a salad instead of the bread. Although the rolls are awesome! The cheesesteaks are very good! I have to get it with grilled onions though! I love the pickles they have that are out on the condiment counter. The Custer service here has always been great. My insider Information is if you get the cheese garlic fries(which you must) get them extra crispy! So good! I’ve had all there sandwiches on the list and I have to say my favorite is the chicken ranch! That’s my go to no matter what. The ranch is good also which makes the sandwich better! Come here and eat cheesesteaks and get some cheese fries too. Not good for you but everything in moderation!

Delicious cheesesteak sandwiches. I only heard about this place casually with zero hype. My girlfriend was in the mood for sandwiches, and I brought her here without having been here before. I honestly don’t think this is what she envisioned from her sandwich craving, but she didn’t mind. They gladly serve Ballast Point beer here. They had the Calico, Big Eye, Grapefruit Sculpin IPA, and the Pale Ale. They cost $ 6 except for the Sculpin($ 7). I’ll be honest with you when I say that the 12-inch sandwiches didn’t look very different from the 9-inch ones. You’re better off getting either the 9-inch(for one) or 18-inch(for two or a hungry one), because the 12-inch seemed like a bit of a rip-off. They got my order wrong and also didn’t honor the $ 1 discount for checking in on Unilocal. They must have been off their game today. If the wrong sandwich I ended up getting actually tasted bad, then I’d be pretty upset, but it was actually good. Just not exactly what I ordered. However, their chili bar was impressive. Anything from that will have a great potential to enhance the taste of your sandwich. If you’re in the mood for Cheesesteak sandwiches in particular, this is the perfect place for it. Just make sure the staff is paying full attention to you, or else they’ll get your order wrong, and I’m much more forgiving than the masses.

This place is really yummy for cheese steaks, I ordered a 14 inch cheese steak with mushrooms and onion and they put white cheese one it… I asked if they had other cheese but they said no, but noticed they had cold Sandwhiches and I saw other cheeses but besides that, it’s pretty good, order the garlic fries as well, the cool thing is they also have a relish bar with pickles, banana peppers, and so much more, I called in my order so when I got there it was fast and quick… The employees are nice, so I will definitely go back… Bonus If you check in 1 buck off.

Went here for the first time today for lunch(as i work not to far from here) and this is simply the best lunch in a long time. I had the turkey, bacon avocado small size along with some garlic fries. I could only finish half of my food and took the other half to go. Very good portions! I wish they had ranch which was the only downfall for me as i like ranch on a lot of things. I also wish i had a little bit bigger of selection of drinks. They do seer beer as well though. I will definitely be coming back as i saw a few other things on the menu i want to try. Like the garlic cheese fries and like 5 other choices of steaks and subs! Just deliciousness. ** UPDATE. they do have ranch! i was mislead by someone who had previously been here(they probably didn’t ask either)

You got to try their Cheez Whiz Cheese Steak. The bread, beef and Cheez Whiz is a magnificent trifecta of juicy, thin-cut beef, crisp, chewy roll, and tangy, salty, gooey cheese. Cheez Whiz is smothered into the sandwich enveloping each piece of meat. I also ordered the Cheez Whiz Fries, it was perfectly salty, crisp and light; topped with Cheez Whiz. The price of $ 3.49 per order is a bit pricey… for something so simple. If it was topped with bacon bits, That can justify the price.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while because I’ve been on a sandwich kick and was looking for new and interesting places to try. Finally got my chance on Easter Sunday. I was on my way to another sub shop which was closed so this gave me the opportunity to try something new. The convenience of the location is great for me as it is right across the 15 freeway in Grantville on Friars road. I’ve read many reviews raving about their Philly Cheesesteaks so I figured this is what I should order. Glad I did. I’m not an expert on cheesesteaks but this one was great; 12 inch, gooey cheese, piping hot steak. Awesome. The wife decided to go with the Chicken Bacon ranch. Good choice on her part as this was also delicious. We both ordered french fries with our meals that were good also. Looking at the menu, there are quite a few sandwiches and other items that looked interesting so I can’t wait to back and try some more. Thank you Gaglione Bros. for turning me on to a new local favorite.

Down in the area for work and it was time to get my lunch on. Unilocal app rides to the rescue and cheesesteak sounded perfect. Ordered their Cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz and onions or as they would order it in Philly, give me a «Whiz with». The rolls are from the legendary Amoroso and if you want recreate the classic Philly cheesesteak you have got to have them. The meat was generous and tasty and the grilled onions were on point. The whiz was slathered heartily. The fries had skin on and were nicely cooked and were massive. The whole meal(12″ cheesesteak, order of fries and soda) came out to fifteen and change but it was so much food I ate the leftovers for dinner. I have been to Philly and eaten at the legendary Jim’s Steaks and at Geno’s and these guys put up a meal that can be mentioned in the same breath as those legends.

I came here one night around 8:00pm because I was craving garlic fries and Unilocaled«garlic fries» near me on and this place popped up. I decided to try it since it’s close to my house and I can easily get it to-go. The fries are made fresh, however they weren’t as what I expected. Being from San Francisco, I have very high expectations on what garlic fries are supposed to taste like. This place had it, but there’s something lacking. I think the fries weren’t crispy enough for my taste, but it definitely had enough garlic to satisfy me. When I got home, I added some sea salt to it, and it definitely made it taste better, but still not up there. If I’m craving garlic fries again, I’ll definitely try all the other options first and then decide whether or not I’ll come here again. I may come back to try their sandwiches since all the reviews seem pretty good.

Cheese cheese cheese cheese and more cheese! The Cheez Wiz Steak and the Mushroom Cheese steak make any vegan or lactose intolerant person convert. No but seriously this is one only places I get cheese steaks from. Every cheese steak is full of flavor oh and did I mention CHEESE? This place always has the basic Ballast Point beers on tap making your cheese steak even better. Now to perfect your meal get some Cheez Wiz fries. As a heads up you might have to wait on your meal but it’s definitely something worth waiting.

On the hunt for a good Philly cheesesteak, Unilocal brought us to Gaglione. We arrived to a huge parking lot, and walked in to a small restaurant with plenty of seating both outside and in. I love that their menu is large and plastered against the back wall. The set up kind of reminds me of 5 guys mixed with your average sandwich shop. + garlic fries: thick cut and good but had the slightest odd taste that I couldn’t figure it what it was! The odd taste is easily gone with a dip of ketchup or even better-tip: ask for a side of cheez whiz! + buffalo chicken: I personally am not a fan of blue cheese so I asked for it on the side. I enjoyed that the chicken tenders could stay crispy in my sandwich without the sauce. I do think they skimp out on the meat because the bread to meat ratio was off and this is coming from bread’s number 1 fan. + philly: steak is seasoned well and my only problem again is the lack of meat. Take advantage of their condiments bar and don’t forget to ask for a side of cheez whiz!(50 cents).

First time coming here with my boyfriend tonight. Must say it was a bit busy and despite the business the food came out pretty fast. Probably waited 10 minutes. We took our food to go and the food still has hot and tasted delicious. Ordered the buffalo sandwich and the garlic cheesy fries. Definitely a do over! Love that they had a side bar for sides like jalapeños or banana peppers and things like that. Also they serve beer. Limited selection but that’s still pretty cool.

4 stars for both amazing food and service. Came here for dinner on Sunday evening. There was no line so that was great. I don’t remember the name of the guy who rang us up but you should know that he was great! Very helpful and took initiative because I wasn’t sure what i wanted to order but when i had decided he overheard and put my order in. Ended up ordering the Cheez Steak with mushrooms along with garlic cheez fries and the boyf ordered the cheesesteak hoagie with mushrooms. They also have a few Ballast Point beers on tap. Wasn’t surprised they were out of sculpin, bc its very popular. Food came out right away, fresh, and sooo good! This is the only place I’d order cheesesteaks. Took off 1 star because it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. Not that it was extremely dirty but tables and floors could have been cleaner.

To be honest, Gaglione Brothers is the only restaurant I would get philly cheesesteak sandwiches from. They have truly mastered on how to make a delicious sandwich. Large parking lot. Easy to find. The place itself is on the small side, but they sure pack a good amount of tables inside and two outside. There are three sizes to choose from 9 inch, 12 inch or 18 inch You can check in on Unilocal and get $ 1 off if you are purchasing the 9 inch sandwich! Make it a combo for only an extra $ 2.99. My favorite is the Works Cheesesteak Sandwich which comes with mushrooms and cherry peppers, except i substitute the cherry peppers for the regular bell peppers because I can’t really eat spicy. The sandwiches are a bit thin on width but long in length. Its filled up with good portions of meat with tons of melted cheese goodness and bits of mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. Overall, best place to go for cheesesteak sandwiches!

We have been to this location several times. The cheesesteaks they make here are okay, not great. Let’s put it this way; they fill up that hungry feeling, and that’s about all. Actually kinda disappointing, really. Maybe I’m just spoiled from eating cheesesteaks(Italian beefs, really) from Portillo’s in Chicago. Or maybe it’s just that whole silly rivalry thing between Chicago-style Italian beefs and Philly-style cheesesteaks. Really, they are both pretty much the same thing, except Chicago’s beefs have super-thinly-sliced meat that is slow-cooked and melts in your mouth. It’s also very moist and deliciously seasoned, like an Italian would. I found Gaglione Brothers cheesesteaks to be dry, gristly and very skimpy with their pre-cooked meat. I kept biting into gristle that came out in strings. I like my beefs fresh, and didn’t taste that freshness. Also had a bad aftertaste in my mouth from the American cheese they use. Chicago-style beefs don’t need to use cheese to mask gristle, but Gaglione uses American cheese, while provolone is the traditional cheese for a cheesesteak. They also have a ‘homemade’ meatball sandwich, which I really wanted to try. The first time we asked for their meatball sandwich, it was late at night and they were all out. Just a few days later, we tried again to get a meatball sandwich, right at 12:15pm. I was told they«aren’t ready yet and won’t be for two more hours». That would place them being ready sometime around 2:15pm. It’s pretty bad planning when you don’t have product made by the lunch rush. Big disappointment really. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

Gaglione bros is the best hands down I have been eating here for years now and I must say I’m sorry for not writing a review sooner! Today I was taken care with extra love and they really know how to show it here! I can honestly say I love the way it’s Ran and if I could be an absentee owner of one of these joints, I honestly would! Well I have too much on my plate at this time literally to keep going. If you want to know what to get… well it’s simple you can’t go wrong!!! I love both the chicken and beef so I get both with cheese and onion sometimes with mushrooms but you have to have the jalapeño fries! So bomb! Please enjoy everyone as I do always!

This is the first time I have ever been in here and I was happy and satisfied when I left. They have Philly Cheesesteaks, combos, Specialty Sandwiches Fries, Make it a Salad and Build Your Own and Drinks. … and a kids menu. Perfect for kids birthday parties. They also offer delivery and catering services. I decided on a Turkey Club. The ingredients: Fresh Baked Turkey, Bacon, Avocado, Swiss, Lettuce Tomato and Mayo. I opted out on the Bacon and Tomato and the sandwich was extremely fresh. They use real turkey and the avocado had a very nice flavoring. The mayo was a nice surprise and I would’ve liked to have a little bit more. I could taste the three flavors I liked best. Very well done. I would get this sandwich again. it was refreshing and enjoyable. They have three locations. We went to the location on Friars. The other locations are in PT Loma on Sports Arena and in Encinitas. UPDATE: What I love about this place is the food and customer service is excellent. I ordered the same thing as the last time well not quite the same. I added ingredients to it but what I couldn’t get over was how lean the turkey meat is. It has nice flavoring as well. It didn’t even need anything else added to it not even salt pepper or even hot sauce. The Manager that took care of us today was extremely nice and pretty cool. He explained the menu really well and was very conversational. He basically customized my sandwich to Build My Own. He also asked if I wanted the bread toasted and I definitely said YES! The ratios were spot on. I could taste every layer in the sandwich in every bite. He also asked if we wanted to try the Garlic Fries we said sure. They smell heavily of garlic and they were too heavy handed with Garlic. They weren’t crisp which I would’ve loved if they were but there is a nice spice they use that I really love and I keep coming back for more. The fries were not the kind of fries that kept making you need something to drink after every bite. I’m not sure what spice they use but it’s addicting and super delicious. The atmosphere was nice but the music is turned up a little too loud. They have seating inside as well as outside. When we came here for dinner and arrived it got pretty busy. There were just a couple of customers inside and eating when we were ordering. The wait time that was stated was answered correctly. This business has nice things going on in here. It’s located in a strip mall near Cupcakes a la Yola and many other businesses. Parking is cramped and tight. It’s hard to find a place but it’s manageable.

You know how the things you grew up eating formed your understanding of how the world should be, food-wise? Well, Mom said I ate my first bites of cheesesteak before I was two years old. The sandwich came from my father’s sub shop. Cheesesteaks are a part of my patrimony, and eventually, they helped me find compatibility with, and to marry, a Philadelphia native, one of whose favorite foods is the hand-held combination of bread, meat and cheese. We like the cheesesteaks at Gaglione Brothers. We’re talking«Philly-style,» which means great sub rolls with an intact hinge and a slight chew; chipped or thinly sliced steak of a decent quality(ribeye preferred); grilled onions, if you eat them; and cheese that’s melted into the meat and vegetables. Gaglione Brothers, like a lot of West Coast sub shops, uses«Thaw & Serve» rolls that are fully baked by a Philadelphia icon — Amoroso’s Baking Company — then shipped flash-frozen across America. I’m fussy about bread, and while I’m not crazy about these rolls when they’re served cold(as with Gaglione’s Turkey Club sub), the combination of fried meat and vegetables, melted cheese and condiments on a flat-top toasted Amoroso roll works just fine. Early on, Gaglione Brothers used steak that was cut too thick, making the sandwich difficult to bite through without tearing the bread. The incautious eater risked dumping out the contents onto his lap. Eventually, the company switched to thinner-cut beef, so that problem abated, but there’s an issue left to fix. As a time-saver, Gaglione Brothers par-cooks their beef and holds it by the grill until an order comes in, then finishes it on the flat-top. Meat prepared this way loses juice and useful grease(read: flavor), and can become tough while it waits. Cooked-to-order is better, and I’ve had luck, when business is slow, with«fresh grilled» requests. Gaglione offers a variety of cheeses, a smart thing to do, since not everyone appreciates the charms of Cheez Whiz. If you don’t like Whiz, don’t order it for the sake of authenticity. The fact is that originally, Philly steaks were cheese-less, and Whiz, which came later, as a cost-saving and efficiency measure, isn’t even the favorite among Philadelphians. I’m from the DC area, where, like many Philly natives, we use Provolone or American on our steaks. While Gaglione Brothers’ menu lists a range of sandwiches, fries and Tastykake desserts, I have mostly stayed with cheesesteaks. If you’re new to this food, and you want to find a favorite cheesesteak combination, be warned: the search can be like trying to get pregnant; it’ll be fun, but if you’re successful, you’ll gain weight.

I was very disappointed with my turkey club. The turkey was extremely dry and reminded me of sawdust. I could barely discern any avocado hiding within. The bread was the final kicker – cold, stale, and tasteless. Considering that this spot is known for the cheesesteaks and not the other types of sandwiches, I should have picked a cheesesteak. Also, if I had asked for a toasted sandwich, I would likely have enjoyed it more. Nevertheless, I will not return.

«The best cheese steak I’ve ever had.» My husband. There you have it. This is a sandwich shop tucked into a mall by Petco and next to a smoke shop. They also have pizzas, I believe, but on this day we wanted quick sandwiches. I got a turkey club. Turkey tasted fresh and was obviously cut thick from a turkey breast, as opposed to being a cured lunch meat. It was a little dry owing to the mayo only being put on right next to the bread/lettuce in one corner of the roll, but as I ate and it sort of got moved around, it became better. Service was friendly and fast. A small sub was huge– I think 7 or 9 inches– and cost $ 7.99, which was totally worth it.

I ABSOLUTELYLOVETHISPLACE. Every cheesesteak I got was amazing. No disappointments at all! I recently tried one of the sandwiches, the general, and that one was soooo good and flavorful. The bun was soaked with its juices at the bottom and ugh it’s making my mouth water just thinking about it… But it was so yummy! I want to try the rest of their sandwiches. I want to eat EVERYTHING on their menu. The fries!!! THEFRIES!!! Garlic fries with EXTRA garlic is the way to go fashoooo! And if I’m feeling cheesy I ask for the cheese on the side. The condiments section is so lovely. I always go for the banana peppers and jalepenos This place is just so good. Writing about it makes me miss the mushroom cheesesteak I got yesterday. I was so sad when I finished. I needed more but I was so full. Anyways! This place will not disappoint you!

The service was extremely solid and the food was super tasty. Highly recommend this joint for a good steak. I have come here on a couple occasions, although I haven’t discovered this place until recently. This place has some really good sandwiches and even better garlic fries. I love garlic and these fries that they make are super garlic-y. Just a heads up. The sandwiches come in three different sizes, although I’m usually good at just eating the 8″ sandwich. Sandwiches are semi reasonable in price. Don’t expect subway prices, but you are paying for good quality food that takes time to make. With that said, I would try to order ahead of time(re: phone order), especially if you don’t want to wait for your food. Otherwise of you are coming in to eat, expect some wait time. Also…this place is not the biggest. It can be hard to find seating, especially if you come during the weekends and during peak hours. However, people tend to leave after they finish their food, so it’s not totally bad. BUT! There are tons of condiments! I love how this place is loaded with ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, and a bevy of peppers and relishes. I can’t think of any other sandwich shop that provides this. Definitely one of the good sandwich shops in my area. :)
