I love this place to eat. However I won’t order delivery again, put my order in through Eat24 at 7:18pm and didn’t receive it until 9:06pm. If it weren’t for me being sick with 2 sick kids I would’ve ordered pick up or went to eat. Delivery driver also got terribly lost, and seemed frustrated. Disappointed since we only order rare beef phó, salt and pepper wings, and a Coke. My boyfriend also noted that the wings didn’t taste like normal and the Coke was hot.

No No No. Everything was soggy and no good. I take that back. The egg rolls were really good. Chicken stir fry noodles — 3 Steak spring rolls — 6(not bad actually) Orange chicken — no no no! Soggy and gross Filet — nothing but onions. All the juice wound up on my carpet Salt/pepper wings — god no. So soggy and gross. 1 ½ hour wait for delivery. For some gross food that cost us $ 75 This was our first and last time ordering from this place.

Worst food I’ve ever tasted, never again. I ordered through eat24 so i don’t even know if they picked up from saigon star or some other place. but the food i ate was not anywhere near what other glowing reviews had said about it. I like food, I eat good food, and i enjoy the bad greasy food, this food was neither. I don’t remember the last time I had not eaten something cause it was bad, until now. The food tasted bad, my orange lemon peppered chicken had this weird gelatinous shit on it, the fried noodles and the chicken were bland, i don’t even understand how it can be so bland. Point is i ordered 30 dollars worth of food, and the ONLY good thing about it was the rice, which i ate. the rest was tasteless, and bad, so bad that even i wouldn’t eat it… and that’s saying something. I’m a little sad cause i literally threw out 2 plates of food. NEVERAGAINWILL I USEEAT24 NEVERAGAINWILL I EATSAIGONSTAR

I got phở tai chin and spring rolls. The phở was a little bland and I got a small bowl but I think i got charged for a large bowl of phở. Service was good and the server checked up on me however I was really the only one in the restaurant. I was there around 3:45pm.

Food is tasty and satisfying, if you’re not willing to make the drive to Little Saigon, but cleanliness and service is below average and definitely not as good as it used to be.

For mission valley this is a good place for take out. The ingredients are fresh and the portions are good… Prices are also very reasonable. I traditionally get the vegetable phở and the house fried rice. Both have great favors, not overly seasoned and quench the pallet.

Just so you know, the categories that are designated for this place are«Vietnamese, Asian Fusion, and Szechuan». As far as I see, it’s just Vietnamese. We came here on Sunday night, after Super Bowl 50 ended. Many places unexpectedly closed, so we ended up finding this place. They blocked off half the place for some reason. Perhaps it was to keep patrons from being seated there due to the predicted amount of business at that time. Maybe it’s a regular thing they do in order to get a head start on cleaning, which I will mention later in this review. We heard guitar renditions of popular songs in the background. If you ask for a #1, they’ll know exactly what you mean even though nothing is numbered on the menu. Currently, that costs $ 8.75, and others cost around $ 8, and rice dishes go for at least $ 10. Usually, you’ll find the following on your table at most phở restaurants: — Chopsticks — Soup spoons — Hoisin Sauce — Sriracha(who have had it for decades before any of YOU ever knew it existed, so stop trying to claim it as your discovery, stinky hippies) — Napkins — Dipping dishes — Sometimes there are also sugar containers for«Thai» style Here, the soup spoons came out with our phở, and we had to ask for dishes for dipping. If you go towards the end of the night, they tend to start cleaning that block-off side of the restaurant. Kind of a shame that the customers get that whiff of cleaning solution in the middle of their meal, but being from Little Saigon in OC, it’s not the first time I’ve encountered that. Besides all that, this is pretty much your common mid-grade phở restaurant in terms of what San Diego can offer. Not a ton of Vietnamese clientele from when I went. I don’t know what Vietnamese community can be found in the Mission Gorge area, honestly, so take it for what it is.

I haven’t dined here yet, but their customer service and good food is what keeps me coming back. I’ve only placed orders for pick up, but each time they have had my food ready for me in less than 15mins. The parking lot is busy so be careful when walking through because there are many careless drivers. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated. The employees are all very attentive and helpful. I like to order the Rice Vermicelli with crispy egg rolls and grilled beef. The portion is very filling and very good. Also, I’ve their Beef Bahn Mi and it’s a really long sandwich! Overall, I like this place and will continue to come back.

We were in the area and the boyfriend wanted something with rice for a super late lunch/early dinner so he found this place on Unilocal and we came in around 5pm and there were about 4 other tables there. He ordered the bo luc lac [shaking beef] and it came out on a sizzling plate sautéed with onions. I didn’t get to try his dish but it looked good, cept he said the rice tasted like it’s been 2 – 3 days old. I ordered the bun thit nuong [vermicelli noodles with grilled sliced pork]. This is one of my all time favorite dishes at a Vietnamese restaurant. It came in a big bowl with lettuce on the side and underneath to mix in. The noodles were ok, some parts were hard so it was probably either not kept well or a day old. Ohh and as an appetizer we got grilled beef rolls which were very tasty! It’s like the 7 courses of beef kind of rolls you make. The rice paper stayed moist too! Which is rare because if you don’t eat it right away it hardens up. I’d definitely recommend those. I’d probably come back if I was in the area to try other dishes.

One of my favorite phở places in SD(: my friend and I always come here and the service and phở are always great! They have a very clean restaurant and very very clean restrooms, which is always nice! We had a bad experience one time, but they handled the situation very well!

Nice spot for phở… but also great options for rice and noodle dishes. Definitely recommend the egg rolls. I would stay away from the boba, it’s not super fresh and either mushy or too tough. The Thai tea is good though. Nice little restaurant… check it out if you’re craving phở!

Our first time trying food here; 1. My husband orders pk and ck vermaceri but they served him pk and bf vermaceri, finally they charged him with ck and sh price. I was like ??? 2. I ordered phở with vermaceri noodle but the noodle was cold, I think they didn’t heat it up, also the soup was cold, which is supposed to be very hot 3. Sorry to say that this place is the worst phở place I have even had before.

Just ate dinner here on this rainy Monday night and it hit the spot! I was pleased with my shrimp noodle soup — light broth, still very flavorful and a good portion of shrimp! My boyfriend also liked his enormous beef combination bowl. We ordered the grilled sugar cane spring rolls as an appetizer which were really interesting — kind of a warm squashed shrimp that was grilled around sugarcane that was pretty tasty. Nice ambiance, decent service, overall a nice place with yummy phở!

For people who gets tired to lengthy pointless girlfriend/boyfriend type of reviews, this place summarizes to the following: — horrible service by son(the server) — food had a lot of MSG barely ate it. When I told son the server about it he pretty didn’t care. — another server started spraying Clorox all over the tables close by when we were dinning making our food smell like bathroom. — topping it with the server giving us attitude towards the end.

Good food but the new waitress forgot about us completely it took her 15 minutes to give us or menus and then we waited around for her to come back so we could put in our order 20 minutes went by and we were at that point just waiting to see her again just to flag her down we were about to leave and a she finally comes back and we had questions about the menu so she sends a different waiter over and we give him our order. The time from us sitting down to us ordering was about 40 minutes. We got our food pretty quickly after that but once we finished we again we were waiting for the check just sitting there look for a waiter or waitress we waited about 20 minutes and then got up to just stand by the cash register. The food was fine but literally the worst service I’ve ever had. We only waited this long just to use the 7 $ off they give you for your birthday I hope the waitress learns to not forget about her tables

I went with the family last night and I had not been for a long while. I had the Rare steak and Well done steak phở and it was very delicious. I love how fresh the ingredients were and you can taste the freshness. I can say I enjoyed every bite. The service was pretty good, they sat us right away and were on top of it, we didn’t have to wait at all for anything. Plus our server even called me «sir». Food came out pretty quick too we ply waited like 20 min if that for all of it. Will be back to try some more menu items for sure.

4.5 stars We have been looking for a new Ph place for a while now and found this gem. We have been here twice so far and both times were fantastic. We usually start off with spring rolls, they are huge and very fresh ! We have also tried the salt and pepper shrimp and chicken, I liked the shrimp best it was crispy and very flavorful. The Ph is very good too, not to oily or dark and you can either get a small or large which I like since I can’t eat too much. Service is always fast and efficient. We will be coming back soon !

I gave it 2 stars only because the service is pretty bad here. Every time I’ve come we’ve stood at the entrance waiting to be seated more than 10 min before we called it to their attention. Once seated they seem to forget to come and take your order. I had to get up on serveral visits to ask if someone could come and take our order. Today was the same… we ordered egg rolls as an appatizer and placed our order then also so we didn’t have to wait to be waited on. We got our egg rolls in a timely manner with no plates. Before I could even ask for plates the waiter walked off. I couldn’t seem to get his attention so I got up again and went to the front counter to ask for plates. It’s unfortunate because the food is really good but someone needs to work with them on there service. I have a choice not to come here and I don’t, as often as I probably would because of the service. If service isn’t an issue for you and waiting forever when you’re really hungry then this is the place for you. Again the food is Really Good!

Took the sick kiddos out for some good olé phở. This place is close to the house so off we went. Good phở, happy they have smoothies and boba, too, lol. Ordered the house fried rice and the salt and pepper chicken, along with the summer rolls in addition to the rare steak phở. Yummy overall. The chicken was lacking in spices and the skin was super crunchy and whatever they use to bread it was too much for me. Overall we liked the atmosphere and ambiance. Food was great, but we won’t be ordering that chicken anymore. This place reminds me of my usual spot I’d always go to in Hawaii. Glad it’s close to home!

Can you say Phở-nomenal? See what I did there lol. Anyways… Stopped in there hungry, quite possibly hangry, looking for a hearty meal. My mom ordered the large phở with well done steak and I ordered the Saigon fried rice. Literally. The food was out on our table within a minute of ordering. I was astounded!!! How is that even possible? The phở I can understand but fried rice in less than a minute? The fried rice came with shrimp, Chinese sausage, and roasted pork with a pink seasoning exterior. The phở was good except it was quite a bit on the salty side which was a bummer. As for the fried rice, it was good all in all but thinking back now the Chinese sausage wasn’t very hot in terms of temperature in comparison for the shrimp or roasted pork which were hot. Nevertheless, very nice portions. If I’m ever in the area I’d definitely stop by again. If you’re looking for a meal with the fastest service ever. This is the place to go.

Decided to go after some lighter fare for dinner and phở/bun sounded right up our alleys. It was within a mile of us, and seemed like they had really great reviews and even better prices to match. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly. The server left us menus and brought water. I loved having the tall glass bottle of water and little drinking glasses. A nice idea, and kinda classy! We already had an idea of what we wanted to eat, given that we had looked at the menu online(always a plus!). I ordered the bun cha(pork vermicelli bowl with crispy egg roll) and my other half ordered the fish and ginger spring rolls and the shrimp phở. All of it was very delicious. At the restaurant I normally go to for Vietnamese food(out of state), they charge $ 10 for a bowl of bun cha a bit smaller than what Phở Saigon Star gave me. In fact, I could barely finish half of it — and I was hungry! My fellow really enjoyed the spring rolls and said that the phở was tasty, but he found the extra tomato sauce a little odd, as it’s not something we typically find in the broths. But it was not bad at all. He’s been going to Phở Cali down the road, but was happy to find good phở even closer to his place. If I ever come back to San Diego, I will definitely come here again. Great bang for your buck, and the wait staff is very friendly/nice. The overall ambiance was great, too. Extremely classy feeling(clean, modern, quiet despite having a big screen t.v. in the room, and the restaurant being fairly full during our meal).

First Impressions: VERY(pleasantly) surprised! I’ve walked by this restaurant multiple times since I moved to this area 2 yes ago but never went in. Tonight, Hubs and I decided to try it out and I’m really glad we did! Everything was ridiculously clean, tasteful décor, a slight(but not overwhelming) scent of some kind of incense or perfume. It relaxed us right away. Not many people here on Saturday night so we were seated right away. Food: I ordered the chicken soup phở and Hubs ordered the veggie phở with vegetable broth(veggie broth was a nice touch as many phở restaurants don’t give you a choice of broth). We also ordered the sugarcane shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer and the mango smoothie with boba. They also gave us a plate full of Thai basil, bean sprouts and jalapeños to garnish our phở. Everything was amaaaaazing. I loved that every item we ordered was completely fresh and they gave us generous servings for each. They gave me a TON of chicken(thinly sliced, white meat) in my phở which is nice since a lot of places usually skimp on the meat and full of flavor. The vegetable phở was overflowing with tofu, book choy and a few other veggies. The vegetable broth was also a nice touch. The sugar cane spring rolls were a nice surprise! Never had sugarcane but it was soooo good. Lastly, the mango smoothie was probably one of the best fruit smoothies I’ve had! It also tasted fresh, like biting into am actual mango. It came in a giant glass and the chopped up strawberries and mango on top were a nice touch. Service: A little slow but very attentive! Overall, it was a nice experience in a very calm and relaxing atmosphere with delicious, fresh food. Will definitely be coming back to this gem of a restaurant. :-)

Phở me all day and all night long!!! Now that I got that out of the way, seriously I’m not sure why it took me so long to: 1. Eat phở 2. Come here 3. Eat more phở 4. Eat more phở when it’s rainy outside 5. Eat more phở when you’re not feeling too well Phở Saigon Star is located in my favorite little strip mall in Grantville. This same strip mall contains GAGS, Jump Toyko and a Petco! Where else in Grantville can you eat a philly cheesesteak, grab a few rolls of sushi, get your animal kingdom food AND destroy a large bowl(you can get small) of PHO!!! I’m sorry, there is no where else in Grantville! When you get inside this place, the guys in there are cool as hell and very laid back. You get a seat fairly quickly as I’ve never had to wait yet to eat here. There’s lots of stuff on their menu, but my wife and I got schooled by my Vietnamese buddy on what to order. I end up always getting their phở with well done steak, put all the fixings into it, plus Sriracha and Hoisin sauce! What the BEEP!!! So damn good! Top it off with an order of their egg rolls and I’m rolling out of their in a phở coma. It’s great! You gotta put the mint and roll the egg roll in the lettuce wrap AND dip in the sauce to get the full effect, trust me! The water they serve is SO good, I’ve been wondering where they source it from! Always a great experience and always left their happy!

3 star food, 1 star service. Nice interior and interesting menu. Order a Tsing Tao, salt & pepper calamari, beef phở and green papaya salad with beef jerky. My papaya salad comes out first even though it was intended on my main dish. Then comes the salt & pepper calamari which was OK. The thickness and texture of the batter was over bearing with very chewy calamari. Still no beer. Ask the other server helping for a beer. He gets me one right away. Then another 15 minutes our original server brings the original beer and an iced tea we didn’t order. Then 15 minutes after that, comes out my girlfriend’s phở. My papaya salad was excellent. Love this dish and love the option of beef jerky that was very good. Something was going on with the phở. Not too good. I usually always stay clear of phở if it’s not in the establishment’s name. Gonna stick to this rule moving forward. Asked the other server for a to go box, that he never gave us. I was waiting for over 20 minutes done with my food and no drinks before they threw the check on the table. I think this place is a decent place, but the young gentlemen serving need some serious training.
