Just finished dinner with my husband. This place is absolutely the best restaurant in all of San Diego. I had the pear salad to start and the lamb skewers with melon salad and cherry rice, my husband had the bobotie meatloaf with a salad and a flavored rice with garlic and raisins I think? Then we had dessert, carrot ginger cake and berry crème cake. Everything was Soooo good! Loved the spices they cook with. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Everything was very well taken care of, clean. Can’t wait to go back and try other things!

I love Hanna’s! I’ve been coming here since she opened. I’ve told several associates and they’ve taken clients and they really enjoyed the quaint sweet space in a great location, the service and the food. My favorite is the carrot cake pancakes too!

OMG… this is my new obsession. The hubs and I came for dinner, and the minute we walked in I loved the ambiance and décor of the place. It’s a small place and you have to find street parking, so make reservations to save yourself from choking on your own tears if you can’t dine at Hanna’s cause that’s what I would be doing. The food is fresh, and I love how the menu changes so that you can try new things all the time! Dinner: –Goat cheese in warm marinara sauce($ 5 during HH): pretty self-explanatory here and delicious if you like goat cheese –Fried cheese ravioli($ 5 during HH): delicious and chewy ravioli –Mango, Serrano chili, and brie quesadilla($ 5 during HH): amazing if you like a sweeter version of a quesadilla –Pulled pork quesadilla($ 5 during HH): good amount of pulled pork –Shrimp in tomato curry sauce with arugula and cashews: Expect a sweeter curry sauce with warm, sweet spices(think cinnamon). Don’t go in expecting a Thai or Indian curry dish. It’s good, but not your traditional curry dish. There were about 6 – 7 medium sized shrimp, and I like the addition of crunch from the cashews. –Goat cheese crème brûlée: This is hands down one of my favorite desserts… ever. It sounds weird, but if you like goat cheese and crème brûlée, you have to try it! The goat cheese isn’t overwhelming, so don’t be afraid. Brunch: –Turkey, pear, brie, and cranberry aioli sandwich: This is better than Thanksgiving in your mouth. Just get it! –Carrot cake pancakes: A side order comes with two huge pancakes and a side of cream cheese frosting. There are lots of nuts in this pancake, which I love!

First time visiting Hanna’s for happy hour. Great small bites at affordable prices. I tried half of the happy hour menu items tonight… baked goat cheese with marinara sauce was my favorite.

Went here for a late lunch with a friend and her baby. We didn’t realize how close it was to their closing time, but they still welcomed us and were perfectly nice. A+ kale salad with salmon: I wolfed that thing down like nobody’s business. My friend enjoyed her veggie sandwich as well. Beautiful setting, tasty food, accommodating despite our obliviousness to their schedule? Will definitely return.

Not sure why the hours says it is closed, but this place is open open open! We got the Croque Madame and French toast, so delicious! Got a table by the window and enjoyed the sun and beautiful décor. Looks like a pricey place, but it’s actually not. Waiters were super friendly and brought out a sample of the tarragon sauce. Definitely a must.

Today was a date with self day. I went to Hanna’s for breakfast– was craving her vegetarian omelette. I ended up trying the Romana omelette instead. I typically do not like omelettes, but Hanna’s is one I will eat. Romana was fluffy with chunks of zucchini, fresh sweet tomatoes, lots of basil, salami. and onions. The taste was so perfect I did not use table salt or pepper like I normally do with egg dishes. To complete my indulgence, I had their carrot cake. Unlike other carrot cakes, Hanna dressed hers with a kumquat compote on top, and laced the side with roasted coconut flakes. The cream cheese frosting was super light and fluffy– almost like mascarpone cream. I paired this with a warm cup of cappuccino. Oh my gosh, I was in heaven! Cleaned my plate! Unreal how delicious this was! The service here was impeccable. Gilberto checked to make sure I was enjoying my meal with a smile. Every time I dine here, Hanna is seen coming out of the kitchen with her apron on to say hi to the dinners. Good old fashion service in a privately owned neighborhood business. I love it!!!

We came here for lunch and had a thai turkey burger, eggs a la Marrakesh, and a crème brûlée. The side salad was delicious with a balsamic vinaigrette. The burger had good flavor although and we really enjoyed it, although it was a bit of a leap to call it Thai. The eggs were rich and deeply spiced with harissa(?) and cinnamon. Recommended.

Came in and got the much anticipated ginger carrot cake I had wanted for some time about 1pm on a Friday. Got take out and brought it home to have later after a long run workout. Anyway, the slice was $ 7.56 with tax. The slice at first glance was very small. Like half a normal slice I think of when getting a carrot cake by the slice. Its as if they cut off the center section of the cake when cutting the cake? The picture shows what I mean by this. So that upset me a little right there. As for texture and flavor, not bad at all. Very smooth and creamy-sweet cream cheese frosting, not super tart or over-sweet but good. Good use of spices like ginger, clove, allspice, cinnamon. Used pecans and carrots of course, pieces still visible inside which I like to see. Small bits if almost mandarin orange looking sections inside as well, nice touch. Cake was moist and not dry as carrot cake should never be. No real strong taste of pineapple as can often times be tasted in carrot cake pending how much and if it was used at all. The outside of the slice was coated in more frosting and large coconut shavings. Maybe I got these guys on a bad day and they gave me bottom of the pan slice or just went too fast and gave me the orphan slice, who knows. Is this the best slice I had had to date, nope, not even close. The MET in Seattle currently has my #1 spot and that is what I compare all others to. Will see what else SD has to contend with.

Charming, seductive restaurant with very good food. Love the Mediterranean feast and pear salad. Good wine selection for fair prices. Gorgeous chandeliers and mirrors as well as other touches make this place unique and worth visiting. Need to update website as photos do not do it justice!

During any visit to Hanna’s there’s no hiding the fact that you’re in a catering venue: deli counter of dessert offerings, plates and dishes stacked along one wall, cheap tables, chairs and booth-seating… not exactly 5 star ambiance, but DAMN– what they do they do well, and that’s the food! 5 stars for an awesome dinner and the best dessert I’ve ever had. We managed to make it here for happy hour(5−7pm Weds-Sat?) and ordered berry mojitos and the sambusas. The drink was nice– sweet but not cloying. Perhaps it could have used a hit of lime but hey– I’m no mixologist so take that as you will. I can safely say that I would take the sambusas over that drink any day, though. The sambusas are fried to perfection, filled with a tasty tasty mix of lentils and meat, and served with a sweet dipping sauce. The only downside is that the order only comes with 3 sambusas. Our waiter only had time to run to the kitchen and back before our plate was cleared. For the main course we had the apple and goat cheese stuffed chicken. It’s hard to believe that any dish could improve upon the sambusas, but this one did. The chicken was super tender, and the goat cheese and apples weren’t too strong, but the perfect complement to the protein. The mash and greens that came with the meal were great sides and we ended up eating everything Thanksgiving hash-style– mixing all the flavors on the plate for an epic meal. Again, my major complaint has to be that I could have eaten more of everything. That being said, I was very surprised by the prices here– for the quality of the food Hanna’s is very affordable! For dessert I ordered the ginger carrot cake, which was nice, but nothing like the cardamom goat cheese crème brûlée. Yes you heard that right. Apparently cardamom goat cheese crème brûlée is the way to nirvana, because I have never been so satisfied with a dessert before. That dish was finished even sooner than the sambusas. Hanna, do you want to cater our personal dinners every night? I fear that you set the bar too high for my own cooking! I would highly recommend Hanna’s, and I can’t wait to come back for breakfast next!

The secret is definitely getting out on Hanna’s. We came for brunch over the weekend and didn’t expect to have to wait, but the place was pretty packed just before 1PM and then the crowds vaporized at 2PM. Note to self, go to Hanna’s at 2PM… Their portions are massive and delicious, and it’s such an intimate cozy place with cute chandeliers. One of my friends got carrot cake pancakes which were huge and thicker than the ones at Snooze! A bunch of us got egg dishes and they were all massive. Their version of croque Madame looked amazing and they got the egg perfectly poached without being too runny. They have loads of European spiced egg dishes that are very unique like the ones inspired by French, African and Spanish flavors. I opted for a non-breakfast option as they serve both breakfast and lunch during brunch(strange concept, I know) and got the seared salmon atop cilantro noodles($ 14). The salmon wasn’t quite seared — more fully cooked with some rare in the middle — but it was such a delicious dish that I would get again. I first tried Hanna’s many months ago for a Unilocal event and was blown away by the asparagus lasagna. This is such a great place for a date or to catch up with friends!

Came here for a Unilocal event last year and had not had a chance to come back, until a while ago when I decided to run away from my work place and work in some peace and quiet. It must have been fate because it was Hawaii day! My mahi mahi was tender and moist and the sauce was incredible! I really liked the black eyed pea mixed vegetable side that came with it. I had to have the carrot cake for dessert! It was moist and delicious! It was such a great lunch to forget where I was working! I did have to return though but at least I came back in a much better mood. The service was friendly and attentive! I also like how they have a family style theme dinners every month, something I would like to try. I feel that Hanna’s is big on healthier eating and they take pride and care in what they serve. I can’t wait to come back!

First time at Hanna’s after having it on my Unilocal bucketlist for so long. Due to the high reviews, I made reservations just in the case and was very impressed by the customer service — from the start of a talk over the phone to the very end of finishing up our meal. The ambiance is very relaxing, having a sophisticated soothing interior design. It feels as if Hanna invited you over for dinner. There are no complaints with the food! The appetizers were delicious and the entrees were even more impressive. We started with the Mezze platter and the goat cheese, beet, squash salad. If you like spice, the Mezze platter is a great starter. The latter appetizer was light, refreshing, and aesthetically beautiful. The smoothness and slight tanginess of the goat cheese complimented the sweetness of the beet and squash. For the entrees, we ordered the chicken tangine, the lamb kebobs, and the bobotie meatloaf. All were fantastic, exploding with flavor, richness, and well spiced. The entrée, however, that made all our eyes widen as our server laid the three dishes down was the kebob. While the lamb pieces were plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked, the pink rice on one side of the kebobs possessed a subtle, delicious cherry flavor and the melon salad on the other side was oh so refreshing. As for the meatloaf, that was also packed with so many spices. I wouldn’t have thought to have added raisins and then top it with an almond-yogurt sauce. Somehow it works though! Although the food was delicious, everything was on the pricier side. I was a little shocked when the bill came out, considering we didn’t order dessert and any drinks besides water. I also was not a fan of the constant flies buzzing around our table. Overall though, I’m glad I finally got to check out Hanna’s.

My sister wanted to take me out for my birthday brunch so we decided to come here on a Saturday. It was about 11 am when my sister, her kids and I came by. There was no wait, which was awesome since we were all hungry. We ordered: Red velvet pancakes Berry ricotta pancakes Espana omelette Eggs and bacon Ricardo was our server. He was great. I really enjoyed our food. The berry ricotta pancakes come with drizzled chocolate and I had asked Ricardo if I can have the chocolate on the side. When it came out, I tried the pancake with the chocolate syrup and also tried it with the cream cheese syrup that came out with red velvet pancakes. I enjoyed eating the berry ricotta pancakes with the cream cheese syrup rather than the chocolate. It’s a good thing I asked for it on the side. Otherwise, I don’t think I would have enjoyed the pancakes as much. The Espana omlette came with a good amount of chorizo on eggs. This was a good tasting omelette. The red velvet pancakes were also delicious. My only complaint was that when we came on a Saturday, it was super hot in the restaurant. Also, my sister and I had to battle a lot of flies trying to land on our food. It was hard to enjoy brunch while at war with a bunch of flies. Other than that(and parking), I would come back. Real good quality food and excellent service!

Hanna’s Gourmet just has that bistro feel to it. Small, comfortable with tons of character. The service there is very good with the food being above average. On this visit. I had a the green chile chilaquiles. A spicy tangy green sauce on top of eggs(over easy) and crunchy tortilla chips. A very delicious dish that I washed down with a Stone IPA. My wife ordered a side stack of pancakes and a side of bacon. She commented that the pancakes were a bigger serving than she expected. Both were to her liking. She was drinking coffee and the servers made sure she never had a empty coffee mug. Overall, a real good meal in a nice restaurant. We will be back. They had a lamb burger that I was eyeing on the menu. Next time.

Taste– ##### Ambiance– #### Service– #### Parking– ## Hanna’s Just became my favorite place in SD for brunching. When asking around the Unilocal community Hanna’s name comes up quite a bit, so I finally gave it a try. Here are the highlights: 1. The cost– meals are extremely reasonably priced. For this type of food I’d be willing pay much more, but will happily pay less. I am so impressed by the quality of food served in comparison to the cost. 2. The taste– did I mention the food is amazing? Tried from the brunch menus and the lunch menu; you just can’t go wrong. I feel like Hanna is able to transform everyday ingredients into the best form of itself. The turkey sandwich is stellar, and I really loved my peanut butter chocolate cake; each bite was heaven. 3. Service– my server was very nice and all around very attentive. I really can’t say enough nice things about this little establishment. It’s amazing all around and it will come highly recommended by me.

I’ve tried pretty much everything on their menu and I absolutely enjoy every last bite. I have a hard time eating salads, but somehow Hanna makes my mouth water with her parmesan bowl that comes with the Caesar salad. Every week there is a different special menu from a different part of the world. Also Hannas’s does a «Family Style» dinner every month, a different cuisine from around the world and you must purchase your tickets in advance as they sell out fast! I wish we could keep this hidden gem to ourselves but u must share my love for Hannas’s with you. It is a small place and they did a wonderful job with decoration and it feels so «homey» and it gives it character. No matter how full you might think you are, once you get a glimpse of the desserts than you will realize that there’s always room for dessert! Thank you Hanna for being so amazing and bringing such joy to our palates!
