I just saw this truck closed in November which is super sad because it was actually one of the better trucks around for a unique burger or carb-free entrée. My friend and I tried it a year ago and he ordered the wild boar burger and I got a salmon bowl with quinoa and sweet potato hash. It seemed rather slow to receive our food, over 15 minutes, but that’s how long real food takes, versus shoddy fast food. The bowls were around $ 13 and the burgers were slightly less. If you don’t mind getting paleo-friendly banana chips with your burger, this place was pretty good. These guys should come to LA where the food truck scene is much more appreciative and lively.

This is a great food truck with healthy Paleo food! It’s so hard finding a place that has multiple healthy options. The Turkey Burger in a lettuce wrap was my favorite.

I liked my order of El Pavo Diablo, AKA the turkey burger. While given the option of a the lettuce wrap presentation I took the bun, which was fine; it soaked up the juices from the turkey and veggies. The turkey patty is substantial one, and prepared with enough(maybe not eleven) herbs and spices to sustain your interest even if there weren’t grilled jalapenos and spicy mayo. In all, a solid effort that satisfied and paired nicely with the brewery NSF was parked at.

Just tried them out for the first time while they were at the IB Pier during the dog surfing competition. The wild boar salad bowl on a bed of kale and quinoa was rather good. A bit more on the rare side, but still tasty. Now the Bomb Bomb Hash was spectacularly underwhelming; the seasoned potatoes were undercooked and the avocados were still hard. For such a simple recipe, I was expecting to be blown away, only to be epically disappointed.

Food Truck Wednesday near my office is both a blessing and a curse. I love the variety and the yummy food, but it is not a cheap lunch and it can sometimes be a little too heavy in the constantly rotating menu of tacos, burritos, burgers, philly cheese steaks, grilled chesses etc. In an attempt to still enjoy the trucks while being a little more health conscious(for me anyway) I look to the Paleo truck. Not So Fast boasts paleo and primal friendly local food. I opted to try one of their bowls, where you pick two bases which include things like cauliflower rice, kale/arugula mix, sweet potato hash and lemon herb quinoa, then pick a protein. Sounds right up my alley. I chose the crispy pork belly with the lemon herb quinoa. It was good. Mine was a LOT of fat. I know, I know, pork belly has a lot of fat. My pieces had significantly more fat than my friend who got it as well though. :(overall, I liked it and may order it again.

I’m so happy that this food truck exists! It’s so hard to eat out when you’re paleo but this place makes delicious food and I don’t have to cook my own food. Finally! I had the salmon bowl and the salmon was cooked perfectly and the sweet potato hash was very flavorful. I will definitely be tracking where they are on their app so I can eat there more!

This food truck is superb! I’ve had the opportunity to eat here a few times. It’s delicious every time! They’ve expanded their menu since then too I believe. I haven’t been in a little while. Anyway, sweet potato hash is amazing. The chips they put underneath are yummy too! You can really taste that everything is fresh and healthy. It’s such a great alternative to any other fast food joint in town. I also just heard they catered a wedding! That’s awesome to know they’re willing and versatile. I wasn’t waiting too long for my food(about 10 minutes) and that was during a lunch rush. The staff was super friendly and efficient! Pricing, a little higher than what you’d want to pay, but compared to the ingredients they use, it’s quite affordable!

We had the food truck hosted in the front of our building just in time for dinner! I was slightly bummed that the special Crispy Pork Belly was sold out by the time we got to the truck. I guess I’ll hang out to my 10% off dealio for another go! My bowl consisted of two base items: I chose the kale and arugula mix & the lemon herb quinoa. I added on avocado top of my salmon bowl as well. The salmon came with sautéed zucchini. Everything was so flavorful! The salmon was nice and crisped. The greens had a dressing that may had been marinating for a bit, it came a little oily. The quinoa was fluffy and soaked up all the flavors in the bowl. Boyfriend got Zee Wild Boar sandwich(not pictured because we annihilated it so fast) which was super good, especially with a perfectly fried egg on top. I’ll be keeping my eye out for this food truck again!

I actually ran into this food truck during my lunch break in Mira Mesa area! The Wild Boar Burger was simple but delicious :) the mini slaw that was added on the side was good, I wish they gave me more. It is kind of pricey. but I love how this place is paleo, it definitely evens out with the pricing. A very simple burger that doesn’t need sauce in order for it to taste good.

so, i aim to eat here once a week. & thats been going on for a quite a little while now. i am paleo, so i feel quite fortunate to have a paleo place to eat . what you’ll get from this rad truck is seriously the best. most enticing lunch or supper you’ve had to eat in maybe forever. or maybe weekly like me. & it also accommodates those not so paleo. but your life might just change if you try the lettuce wrap, instead of the bun. but do what you must. bomb sweet potato hash tasty burgers constantly changing menu items . bowls of wild caught salmon or free range this & that wild boar turkey grilled asparagus the most delicious bacon broth paleo loafs even . so go & download the not so fast! app & follow the truck ! so easy . this truck is my most favorite restaurant in san diego !

I went to the Tuesday food truck of Normal Heights. I was super hungry n I couldn’t decide what to eat, I came upon this food truck and the bision burger on the menu stood out. I was waiting around as no one was there inside the truck. Then some guy walked towards me from another food truck. It looked like they were doing a trade. So I finally got to order. Waited around for my food, watched people ordered n get their food from other food trucks. I was still waiting, finally a food order comes up, it’s not mine, oddly it was for someone else but where did this guy come from? I think he ordered after me. I asked when my order will b ready n the guy replied soon. I see the cook just prepping stuff he’s not grilling what’s going on? 20 minutes past n I see food but nope it’s not mine, they cooked it for one of the food trucks. As I said for a trade. I asked again about my food, the guy lies to me and said it’s coming up n it’s taking long because he’s going to cook it a little more. What the bullshitter, it doesn’t take 30 minutes cook bison meat. Finally my food comes out n of course it was dry around the edges n okay in the middle. I was not happy. The middle was great but that’s it I couldn’t justify for them why they made me wait so long. It wasn’t as if I went anywhere I pretty much stood there the whole time. Lame, if they would have cooked my food first I think I wouldn’t have to wait more than half hour for a burger.

Came here a while back with some friends while they were at the Green Flash Brewery. It’s definitely in the name: not so fast. It took a long while for us to get our food, but I was in good company so didn’t mind too much. I’ve been on the primal/low carb diet since 2012, so I like to think that I know my way around low carb foods and let me tell you, romaine lettuce is one of the worst choices you can pick for a bun less burger. If you’re absolutely going to use romaine, don’t put one measly piece on each side of a burger and call it paleo for sales. Lame. Choose something that’s going to hold up to your burger. May I suggest thick cuts if iceberg(a la innout)? Or, perhaps you’d like to get fancy with. in that case, maybe several layers of butter lettuce cups on either side? The big stalk in the middle of the romain leaves doesn’t do well for the burgers. Anyways, it was an interesting experience but I won’t be wasting my money here again. The burgers are decent, but the wait is long and the food is too messy. oh yeah, and it’s expensive for what it is.

Every Friday, ironically sitting right outside of the gym at the AV/AQ/AX area of the Qualcomm campus the food trucks post up. Usually it’s the same old Mangia Mangia or God Save the Cuisine. Meh to both. Spotted the Not So Fast truck at the far end and was immediately intrigued. Many more options than the other trucks, mostly burgers. They advertise Vegan and Paleo options but I have no limitations imposed on my palate. Then, I see it. LAMB. YES. *The Lamby* $ 13 Tzatziki-marinated lamb burger with Mint-Apple Bacon Chutney and Crumbled Feta cheese. This is the epitome of everything you would want in a burger. The bun is toasted, the burger perfectly juicy without soggying the bun. Feta taste balances the slight gamey taste of lamb… the lamb and goat products dance in harmony. Chutney is sweet but I don’t taste any smokey baconness. No biggie for me since I’m not a huge bacon fan(do not pass judgment at this statement not everyone is obsessed with crispy salty slices of fat – plus, true fact my dog’s name is Bacon). I love garlic so I asked the dude in the truck if I could have some of dat Cayenne Garlic Spread that comes on the Portobello burger. He gladly slabbed some on the bun for me for FREE! You go, non-stingy food truck dude. Every ingredient was identifiable as I ate the burger, no single ingredient overpowering another. Balanced burger for the win. I noticed a rogue banana chip peeking out from under my burger and wondered if he hopped on there by accident when among the chaos of a single-manned food truck. But to my surprise, there was a lovely bed of salt and pepper banana chips to enjoy with my burger. Free is always good. Also obsessed with kombucha which I couldn’t resist buying. Never seen the brand before(I would consider myself a kombucha connoisseur) plus only one of them had a label on it for advertising purposes. I figured the others were removed to prevent the label from sliding off of the bottle while being submerged in ice. It was Plout-flavored kombucha marked with a PL on the cap. Delish. Highly recommend this food truck. Healthy, fresh, delicious. Hope to see you next Friday, Not So Fast!

Visited this truck for the first time at the Normal Heights Tasty Truck Tuesday. I ordered the PiggyPansky and agree with many others. This food truck is NOTSOFAST on the delivery of food items and the biggest problem is that they will quote you 10 minutes but it took 23 minutes for me to receive my food. I asked the gentleman who took my order about my food after I realized the two people who stood in back of me received theirs and rather than answer my question with an update he said«I can give you a refund’ I CANGIVEYOU A REFUND! So incredibly rude and I answered what I would like is an accurate time frame of when it will be ready, he says ‘Soon’ And I asked what that meant so that I can make my decision if I wanted my refund. He asked the cook and the cook says ’20 seconds’ Really? You are going to lose money rather than have asked the cook for an ETA for your paying customer?! I DON’T THINKSO. I will never visit this food truck again. I should have ordered from Mastiff who actually walked an order of bratwurst to us as we were over by the NOTSOFAST truck waiting to order. That bratwurst was loooong gone by the time I got even close to receiving my own food! Regarding the food… it is terrible for the price. My bun was cold and my toppings were cold and the burger patty was warm but salty. I mean you really cannot taste the toppings, the caramelized fennel and shallots just did not come through. The pancetta was minimal as you can see from the picture I will include. There was not much aioli on the bun at all so the burger was on the dry side. The grilled jalapenos that I requested did not have much of a grill factor at all. And worst of all there was this large piece of what looked like was an artichoke heart but may have been the fennel. I bit into it and had to pull the whole piece out of my mouth and put it aside. I am including a picture of the monstrosity. The banana chips should be skipped, they are a weird texture and do not add to the burger. Overall a terrible experience for over priced subpar food especially when the customer service is atrocious!

I had the elk burger and a side of the primal slaw. Here’s the funny part — name don’t lie — the food really was Not So Fast. It took quite a long time for my order to come out of the kitchen, err, I mean the truck. When I asked the front of house(front of truck?) woman about the elk burger, she said it was really good, so I went with it. But then the next person in line asked for her preference between the elk burger and the wild boar sandwich, and she expressed a strong preference for the boar. Doh! The elk burger itself was fine but I found the meat to be super lean and gamey(and this surprised me because why?), and I couldn’t taste the small quantity of caramelized onions piled on the center of the burger. There was also an aged cheddar melted on there somewhere but I couldn’t taste that either. I’m not sure why the elk burger was served with banana chips but I dig them so it was all good. Next time — assuming I run into the Not So Fast truck again at an event or wherever — I’ll go a different direction with my order. Overall it was a nice truck with super-interesting and very unique offerings.

Food: Ordered the portobello burger for a little under $ 10 not including tip. Came out quick enough. Juicy slices of portobello with maybe a balsamic taste to it? Also came with salt and pepper banana chips. Nice surprise! Parking: Plenty of parking in the parking plaza next to Best Buy in La Mesa. There are four other food trucks here on Tuesday evenings. I went around 6pm and lines for food weren’t bad at all. Ambiance: No real chairs or benches for sitting. You could either take your food and eat it in the car or just hold it and walk around. Plenty of room tho, so perfect for big groups!

I really hate doing this, but my hope is that the owners actually read this and up their game up. Or in this case, up their flavors. As much admire that they are the first and for now, the only Primal/Paleo truck, I need to be honest. The food is just okay and frankly, could be done better. They are lacking a good degree of flavor in their food. I’ve had the bison burger and also the hash, which is made of sweet potatoes. I make burgers with sweet potatoes at home all the time. If I’m going to be willing to pay about $ 15 for just these two, it needs to be freakin amazing. And it wasn’t. The quality was there but just didn’t have good, or much flavor. Just not real tasty and quite pricey considering it’s simplistic and that it’s from a food truck. Make some changes, please. I would love to support you guys!

Yep, definitely agree with Rianne D. and David G. on Groupon deals. You could easily spend $ 15+ on a meal here and not be fully satisfied. We had the: — Zee Wild Boar($ 9.50) — teeny, tiny little burger patty that I finished in literally 4 – 5 bites. It’s supposed to be BBQ-spiced wild board with spicy honey mustard, herb grilled onions, and pickles. All I tasted was bland, unsalted meat and pickles. No hint of BBQ, spicy honey mustard, or herbs. Boar for boar-ing. — Bison Burger($ 11) — grass fed bison, Kerrygold cheese, and red wine caramelized onions. This burger was much better than the boar. Still tiny, but much juicier and more flavorful. The patty tasted a little bit peppery, and the cheese and caramelized onions helped to add more dimension. One side of the burger was under cooked and raw, but meh, we ate it anyways. It’s like tartare, right? — Bomb bomb hash($ 5) — cute name, but this wasn’t «the bomb» either. The sweet potato hash is more on the raw side, which is fine if that’s what you like. I like my sweet potatoes more cooked through with a bit of a crisp. It’s seasoned with some cinnamon and a bit of cayenne(or another spice with a kick). There was maybe ¼ of a baby avocado and 5 pieces of bacon on it. Plus, we found a worm in the hash(see pics). He probably came from the burger lettuce. — Primal slaw($ 4) — the vinegar gave it tartness, but it was missing either sugar or salt to balance out the sourness. It tasted like cabbage in vinegar with a few slices of apples. I saw one lady order the turkey burger with bacon, egg, and mushroom. She also got the bomb bomb hash and a drink. Her total was $ 18. Man, for my Paleo needs, I’d rather just go to a sit-down restaurant and get a salad.

«Thank god for Groupons» That’s what ran through my mind when I joined my partner-in-dine for a cold, drizzly lunch at the Not So Fast truck.(At least I had an umbrella.) First thing you need to know: Not So Fast serves paleo food only. No grains or dairy here. We each came armed with a $ 7-for-$ 14-worth-of-food deal, and I’m really glad we did. Not So Fast is really damn expensive. But is it food worth it? It’s a mixed bag, really. Here’s a dish-by-dish run-down of what we shared. ** Bison burger. Served on a lettuce«bun»(of course), this burger was really juicy and flavorful. Loved the caramelized red onions. The portion was miniscule, though — looked more like a slider. Three or four bites and it was gone. Probably not worth the $ 12 retail. ** Pork chops. Flavorful, but very tough and dry. The onions on top were greasy and soggy. This dish was also very small(just two miniscule chops). Definitely overpriced at $ 11. ** Roasted veggies. I think there were broccoli, zucchini, red peppers, and few other things in there. Cooked nicely, but very bland. Needed salt, pepper, something… ** Cole slaw. Probably my favorite item of the meal! It was very fresh, crunchy, and flavorful. Loved the addition of the chopped apples. Ironically enough, the service at Not So Fast was actually quite fast. After we placed our orders, the food was ready within seconds. Then again, the rain was keeping most of the crowds at bay. I’ll probably skip Not So Fast next time. In the ever-changing world of San Diego food trucks, there’s always a new kid on the block that I’m dying to try…
