The Habit Burger Grill

While their burgers are good – but not as good as In-N-Out’s – their Tempura Green Beans alone are worth the visit. They are perfectly fried without being too oily or heavy; they are light, crisp, and refreshing! The vibrating pager that informs you when your order is ready is also a nice touch.
For the price, get a burger at In-​N-​Out instead. But come here for the green beans!
Avoid their milkshakes – they lack flavor.

It’s a good restaurant. We were going to the car and I smelled a REALLY good smell coming from the door of the habit (not Luna grill next door) and we decided to eat there for dinner. I ordered a mushroom char burger with fries and a drink. They had good costumer service (the best I’ve seen is at Brick Oven in Provo, UT) the mushroom char was a good mushroom-​swiss cheese burger but they really need to add more flavor (Like Johnnys Seasoning Salt) to burgers these days because I grill burgers at home and you can really taste flavor when you use Seasoning Salt instead of boring old salt and the burger really could’ve been less messy. Their interior is very nice (Compared to Stupid McDonalds) And it has detail and it’s clean. I had to go to the Bathroom and the floor was a bit wet but it’s clean. Overall it’s a Good place to go to for a nice, casual dinner.

Would consider The Habit a ghetto place since theyre just near and their food is too affordable. You can also see how dedicated their crew is, I saw everyone giving their best while on it. It seems they are are high spirited. Santa Fe style sandwich was the best, didnt even had to think when ordering for the second sandwich.
Great, they also serve healthy food, great for the kids.

I finally tried this place. Let me just start with I am a drink fanatic as anyone who reads my reviews knows… They have a new drink that is Strawberry Limeade and it has cucumbers in it as well. HOLY FRIJOLES it is GOOD! I started with Green Tea and that too is really good and refreshing but then I had this specialty drink … you MUST TRY IT. Its sweet and tart… yummy…
This is a walk in and order kinda place… they call out the number. You go get your food and the world is a better place. Drinks are self service.
The order taker was extremely nice and patient with me and made sure I knew my options, even though there was a long line behind me. She was friendly, upfront and made sure I knew what I was getting etc.
I ordered the BBQ Bacon Charburger with mushrooms. The Mushrooms were $ 1 more but I knew that after I ordered it and asked. I asked for sourdough bread instead of a bun. Honestly I have braces, I shoulda done the bun. That being said — the sourdough would normally be a fave of mine! The meat was cooked thoroughly. It had good flavor. I wish it was a bigger piece of meat so I may order a double next time… It wasn’t anything to write home about honestly but it is a good burger.
The fries were cooked well done and had great flavor and crunch. I was a fan.
What I definitely want to try next time is a Salad! OMG seriously though they were coming out to people and I wished I had one (again I have braces so I didn’t want one of those that evening)…
The place was clean and well kept — well our table was dirty but that is because I snagged it as soon as another party left so we could have a place to sit because this place is busy.
Honestly for me – I love Five Guys concept of all the toppings because that is how I like my burgers and they are about the same pricing… The Habit may be a bit less but I spent the same on my own as I do at 5 guys. There isn’t anything wrong with Habit and because my friends enjoy it I will be back…

High quality food, excellent service, distinctive dishes. What else might you ask for in a casual dining restaurant?
I favor the bbq charburger and the tempura green beans myself. My wife prefers the albacore or tri-​tip sandwiches (and also adores the tempura).
Give this place a shot, you will not regret it!

They love me at the Habit when I wear my In and Out shirts. I am making the point the Habit is the only true competitor to the famous Cali burger chain.
The variety on The Habit menu is what makes me choose them more often now. The TriTip the Albacore and Chicken sandwiches make this a better dinner spot. The tempura green beans are their signature side. Plus they have soft cone ice cream. Quality of all menu items is first rate!

I had signed up for The Habit’s email club some time back, and was rewarded with a coupon for a free Charburger with cheese — and seeing how the coupon was set to expire this past Friday, I figured it was time to use it.
The burger itself was pretty good — I don’t know why I felt a bit disappointed the last time I had a burger at the RB location, but this one was pretty juicy and the bun held together with each bite. I paid extra for a side of onion rings, which came out crispy and not overly fried, and a drink (I stuck with their house brewed iced tea).
Seating isn’t too bad; I was lucky enough to find a booth indoors. And the service itself was pretty quick — between placing my order and getting my pager, to my pager buzzing to let me know my order was ready, I’d say my total wait was less than five minutes.
Relatively affordable burgers + clean location = more chances to visit (although that Balboa Mesa location is pretty packed, seeing how Chicken Charlie’s, Pieology, Luna Grill, and 85C are all in the same area)!

I came here because I signed up for their newsletter a couple weeks ago and received a coupon for a free char burger. The inside is similar to any other burger fast food joint, imagine In n Out or Five Guys.
I ordered it with onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo with my burger. To me, flavors only tasted average. They could’ve done better. I also ordered a side of onion rings. I thought they were too crispy, almost on the burnt side.
The Habit has some interesting menu items that I would like to try for example the Santa Barbara sandwich. I would come back, but for now you are only a ³⁄₅ stars.

Fairly priced, simple, delicious burger. Great fries too. Fast service, friendly staff. I like it.

I always get the Teriyaki Char which is just their original burger but with a grilled pineapple and added teriyaki sauce. I also always get extra grilled onions, and sometimes lettuce wrapped if im trying to get into that vegas bod life. They’re really awesome about customizations and are more than happy to accommodate whatever you want!
Their fries and onion rings are also BOMB! They’re decently portioned and always tastes super fresh. The onions inside of the onion rings are always super crispy and taste like they have just been cut up. Not to mention the batter which is thick and flakey and delicious! Also take advantage of their bbq and ranch sauces too!
Definitely one of my fav burger spots!

If you’re looking for a fast delicious cheeseburger A step above 5 Guys or In n Out. This is Definitely the spot to go ! Very clean atmosphere, beachy design with nice décor. And good customer service .First time here and I will return the Next time
I’m craving a burger. I devoured it. The only disappointment was the french fries .greasy, airy, bland… I swear I’ve had better from a hospital cafeteria!

PARKING: free, shared lot with Kohls and Luna Grill.
PRICE: $ 3.55-$ 5.95. You can add cheese for .60 or avocado for .60 etc. The 4^th star comes from right there, being able to custom your burger.
ATMOSPHERE: I was greeted as I stepped in. When I came, it was quite loud, but that was expected (with the lunch rush). Not a big deal. The tables that were empty were all clear and clean. Very nice staff, everyone I came in contact with was smiling. My order came out so quick, I double checked to make sure it was accurate and it was. Nice!
PRODUCT: Lightly toasted bun on my Teri Burger. I order mine 86 mayo. Otherwise, it’s too awkward of a taste with the mayo and teri sauce together. I really appreciate the size of the pineapple in my burger (which is not the biggest burger, but what do you expect for $ 3.55? I’m good with that). I also usually order the fried green beans which are quite good! Great quality beans used here, you can tell when you eat off the batter (just to check! Really, I eat the whole thing!) there is a very fresh, long, green bean there. Delicious! There is a strawberry lemonade that is made daily here that is worth a try, too. All drinks are self-​serve.

When you’re tired of In N Out because your friends and boyfriend keeping going there, this is the place to go to. It’s fairly inexpensive and even better, depending on your taste! I love just getting their original char burger with an extra side of onion rings! Usually onion rings are too oily for me but there’s isn’t so it’s amazing!

It took me 10 years to finally get around to trying Habit Burger… and I realized I’ve been missing out! A lot of Unilocalers compare every burger to In N Out’s…but their fries are complete crap (²⁄₁₀ score?), they don’t have bacon, and the burgers are so small that I always order two. For about the same price, Habit is a win!
$ 4.55 BBQ Bacon Char + $.60 Cheese = Juicy, Meaty, Fatty, and All American Awesomeness.
$ 1.95 Fries = pretty awesome…7/10 score
Only $ 6.50 for this tasty burger and fries dinner. Friendly staff, pretty quick service, and clean digs. Will be back for my next quick cheap burger fix.

My first time at this place. They do have a vegetarian option which is always nice!
The food was really good and I love all the toppings options that they have. Everything on the menu looks delicious. I will be back for sure!

I’ve been to this location half a dozen times or so in the past year. This place is the bomb for sweet potato fries and onion rings (burgers are okay), but the customer service SUCKS!
Lilibeth was my cashier, and she had a sour face and huge attitude. When my GF told her that we wanted our food To-​Go in separate bags, the cashier actually rolled her eyes at her. WRONG MOVE… my girl is petite, but she will tear you a new one with her Muay Thai. That’s hot, right?
Anyways, sour face got it wrong and threw all of our food in the same bag… WTF!!! Whether that was intentional, or she was just too retarded to get it right, is questionable. Whatever, the food was good at least.

Hubbs chose this place… it was in the area where we were getting our dog groomed… convenient and close to home. There were many choices and I chose the original charburger with a chocolate malt. Hubbs ordered a double original charburger and fries. There was an assortment of tables/​chairs & booths. The food was okay nothing in my opinion as special. I personally do not like my burgers dripping. I think that the lettuce may have not been dried off and the mayo made wet. However, the chocolate malt was mixed very well and I enjoyed it. I thought to be equal with other burger joints around town, the only difference is that there were my choices such as salads, chicken, tuna, and more. There were quite a few condiments to choose for dressing your burgers and sandwhiches. There were also many choices for drinks as well.

I had a tasty line-​caught albacore tuna «lettuce wrap», because The Habit Burger doesn’t offer any gluten free bun. Their fries aren’t gluten free either, so I had only lettuce and fish, whereas others in my group were eating fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings.
I didn’t choose The Habit Burger, but was invited to join my large family group for dinner, and that’s why I found myself at a fast food spot that doesn’t have enough choices for those on a gluten free diet. I’ve recently been compelled to adapt a gluten-​free diet due to health issues.
They also didn’t offer a vegan burger for the vegan in our group, and he settled reluctantly for the vegetarian burger, which isn’t vegan.
I tried to find out why neither the French fries nor the sweet potato fries are gluten free. I wanted to know whether they actually contain gluten in their ingredients, or whether they just come into contact with gluten in the fryer with the onion rings. But the staff didn’t know. (Although I need a gluten free diet now, I’m not as sensitive as those with celiac disease, who cannot have even a trace of gluten).
In summary, my fish was good, but I didn’t like eating it with no carbs at all. Habit Burger, please offer a gluten free bun, and some gluten free fries. If you can do that, then you could become a habit of mine.

This review is for the outstanding service — sometimes my baby brain kicks in and I forget to order my burgers well done, however, thanks to the thoughtfulness of the person (I think it was Jocelyn?) — she noticed I was pregnant and actually asked if I wanted my burger well done.
The service and food (Santa Barbara burger on sourdough) was spot on!

I frequent this burger joint at least 1 every two weeks. I crave their chicken sandwiches and French fries! I order my chicken sandwich on sour dough with a couple sides of ranch. Their food always tastes fresh. The staff is really friendly and they always have a smile on their face. One staff member even approached us as we were eating and asked how our food was tasting and if we had been there before. Superior service! It is always nice and clean inside and out.
Even if there is a long line don’t be worried, you will still receive your food promptly!
