The food is like L & L Barbeque with an asian spin on it. The service was like any other food place, meaning the workers are kinda scatterbrained. I dont know if i would ever eat from a waba grill again. It didn’t zing with deliciousness.

Not too fond of the area for this particular location, but waba grill is definitely a great healthy alternative for when I wanna buy lunch. Everything’s grilled, for healthier cooked meals. They offer bowls and plates. The bowl alone is enough for me for lunch. You have the option of the kind of meat you want: shrimp, steak, chicken, etc. My son got the shrimp once. Looked amazing! I always get the steak! So flavorful. You also have the option of having veggies or all rice(white or brown). Great place to frequent. Prices are decent, food is great!

Healthy healthy healthy sums it up. No oil, grilled, boiled vegetables and amazing service. They have fish, chicken dark and white meat, shrimp, steak, brown and white rice both steamed. Start your 2016 healthy and this spot is the push that can get you rolling.

This is a great place to go if you are craving teriyaki chicken or beef with rice. Their rice is always cooked to perfection and they give you a decent amount of veggies/meat. I feel like it is a little bit more expensive for the average lunch, and a pretty simple fix that makes you feel slightly healthier than if you ate fast food. They used to have a good rewards system in place for eating here but recently when I went they said that they no longer were doing it.(This doesn’t affect my current rating at all.)

Contrary to the negative reviews I actually enjoyed the food. I ordered the steak bowl with brown rice and it was a great. The portion size was more than enough and I received plenty of steak. It was not busy and my food was received in a timely manner. Give it a try despite the other reviews. And remember everything isn’t for everybody, but his was definitely for me.

I’ve been excited to try this place out for weeks. Maybe I was getting too excited to try out their food that I was coming in with high expectations, because this place just came off short. I ate at this place yesterday with my sister. I decided to go safe and ordered the shrimp bowl with veggies(8.25),(like who could mess up cooking shrimp or making it appetizing?) while she ordered the Rib plate(12.00) Apparently, this place can mess up cooking shrimp. The shrimp had this really sweet sauce that didn’t appeal to me at all. Also, the shrimp had this burnt taste which didn’t help my growing dislike for it. I thought it was because of my selective palette that I didn’t like it, so I let my sister try it out, and it made her happy that she bought the meat. In other words, she didn’t like the shrimp either. Either way, I enjoyed the cabbage more than the shrimp. The veggies consisted of carrots(which were cut into semi-circles), broccoli(just big chunks), and a lot of cabbage). It was all steamed — just tasted like the vegetable, no seasoning. The ribs were okay. It’s short ribs with really thin meat(where it doesn’t matter if it’s a bit overcooked because it would have practically tasted the same). It had this sauce that wasn’t like the shrimp sauce, which I was thankful for, and it just seemed average at best. The food here isn’t mind blowing or anything. It certainly doesn’t taste healthy. Either way, I wouldn’t recommend this place, but feel free to try this place out.

Contrary to the other reviews, I enjoy waba grill! I love the chicken with their sauce(just a bit since it can be salty). The service has always been pleasant and sides like hot sauce or lemon is accessible right on he counter. Also they have brewed teas. Honestly compared to McDonald’s, it’s such a better alternative. But just to let you guys know white meat chicken is extra!

Tried the chicken this time. It’s much better than the beef. Passably healthy and isn’t drowned in sauce. They add sauce at the end so if you’re not into excess flavoring you can just let them know to not add it. The chicken is really soft(unsure how I feel about it) and almost had a shredded chicken texture. The bowl is still a lot of food and much more worth the price. If I’m short on time, the brown rice chicken bowl will be my go to if I’m nearby.

I frequent Waba Grill once or twice a week and don’t have any complaints about this location! The meat is always juicy and tender — the brown rice is always cooked to perfection. I am a health snob and come to this place frequently because I know exactly what I am putting into my body and the calories. The employees are all very friendly and make sure you receive what you order. No complaints so far! …can you tell I love this place?

Called in my order for a chicken and steak plate and a shrimp bowl. Around $ 18. They were pretty good portions. You have the selection of brown or white rice. Flavor was ok on the meat. The dressing on the salad was a peanut type. I wish they had a better assortment of fruit since all I got were three small pieces of orange slices. It wasn’t bad or good so I’m deciding if it was good enough to return or bad enough to not. I wish they would give you extra sauce in the bag when you pick up. Service was good since she greeted me and ended with«Thanks for coming in. Have a great night».

OK food, but probably not that healthy. The upsell attempts by the cashier were what I didn’t appreciate. Want avocado? Extra. White meat? Extra. I knew to say no to the avocado since it was clearly listed as an add on with a price. The extra charge for white meat was not listed on the menu with a dollar amount. Annoying. The menu also clearly states that a fountain drink is $ 1.80, but they decided to charge me $ 2.20. They’re also not environmentally friendly. Whether you take out or eat in, you receive the same plastic clamshell box and plastic utensils. And there are no recycling bins.

This place is billed as being«healthy». If you are comparing it to like, fast food, then yeah, it’s healthy. I guess. My eating partner and I both got bowls with brown rice, chicken, beef, and veggies. The veggies were carrot, broccoli, and lots and lots of big, white cabbage chunks. What made the bowls disappointing was that the only thing you really tasted was salt. The beef was completely saturated with salty sauce. It was not good. The chicken was ok, and appeared to have a teriyaki sauce on it. I got white meat(for a small additional charge) and it was dry, but that is sort of be expected with white meat. If there were more sauce options, like a Bitchin Sauce type thing – it would have transformed the meal. There just wasn’t a lot of flavor, and it felt like I was eating a salty, saucy, unhealthy food court meal. I wish they would have omitted some of the copious amounts of cabbage for more broccoli. What was good about our bowls was that it was inexpensive for a substantial amount of food($ 7.75 for the combo bowl with veggies).

I’ve been eyeing this place since it’s convenient to my workplace. Finally decided to give it a go today with my co-worker. We were warmly greeted upon entering and while perusing the menu I noticed that prices were a little high for what you’re getting(rice and protein)-expect to pay around $ 10 for a meal and drink. Both the coworker and I ordered salmon, he got the plate and I got the bowl. Both of our meals came with a medium size slab of salmon and his came with an assortment of vegetables. My main disappointment with Waba is that their teriyaki sauce is underwhelming and not as flavorful as other chain teriyaki places(i.e. Sansai, The Flame Broiler). While they offer a sauce pump so that you can drench your meal in as much sauce as you need, I can’t imagine more sauce making the meal any better if the flavor quality isn’t present.

Yum yummy yum! They do a handful of things and do them well. Simple, tasty, quick and fairly priced. Tastes and feels like real food. Fewer options than Panda Express, but so much more satisfying.

I was really disappointed with this place. I got a chicken bowl to go for lunch for $ 8.00 and no drink! I just saw another review he says $ 8.50 for a combo plate. So was i overcharged? Yes the place is clean and food is fresh but the food is not that great! My chicken was dry and had no seasoning! Overall too pricey and doesn’t satisfy that teriyaki chicken craving! I didnt even eat half of it when I just had to toss it in the trash!

My boyfriend and I have been waiting for this restaurant to open in City Heights. We decided to give it a try in the evening for late supper. We arrived at 8pm and it was surprisingly not busy. We were kindly greeted upon entering. The guy on the other side of the counter was very nice in helping us decide what to order. Their restaurant promotes freshly prepared healthy, low-fat entrees. Their menu is quite simple; they offer chicken, steak, ribs, salmon or shrimp with their«WaBa» sauce(similar to teriyaki) in a rice bowl, rice bowl with veggies or a plate that includes a salad and fruit. Brown rice is available and avocado is extra. They also have kid’s meals and a veggie bowl for people who don’t eat meat. This visit, I ordered a chicken brown rice bowl with veggies. My boyfriend got a chicken-steak plate with brown rice, avocado, fruit, and he substituted the salad for steamed veggies. Our food came out extremely fast. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The WaBa sauce wasn’t heavy enough that it overpowered the meal. And if you feel like you need more, they have extra available for you to serve yourself next to the hot sauce. Our meal came to about $ 19 with a regular drink included, which is quite reasonable for what we received. Really glad we gave this new spot a chance and hope that it sticks around. Gotta come back and try the salmon!

Came on their first day and it wasn’t crowded! Ordered the chicken and steak plate, which includes either brown or white rice, salad and fruit. Service was nice and friendly and they greet you as you walk in. My steak and chicken meal was good. Nice lean meats and not fatty at all. My co-worker got the salmon plate and it was very good also. We’ll be back to try the other menu items!
