Here in San Francisco for a convention & took the trolley to the Fishermans Wharf area & heard this place was good. We sat on the patio. Waiter was nice & helpful, calamari was great, oysters on 1⁄3 shell were fresh.

My wife really wanted a bread bowl of clam chowder and this is the place we walked into. The server was very nice and mindful we were in a bit of a rush. We ended up getting the chowder and oysters and were very pleased with the quality of it. The oysters came with a pink, oniony sauce that was really tasty. Very good and nice patio. Solid.

Mediocre at best. The soup was fine. the wait staff told us everything was awesome and he was a bit over zealous so felt like he was paid to be a cheerleader. He must only eat there. All this for $ 350.

Great chowders! Unfortunately they lost our Unilocal reservations, so we weren’t on their list and had to wait, and it’s really really pricey, but the chowder was worth it, I recommend the sampler. Cocktails were good too. Also the popcorn shrimp was fantastic.

As soon as we sat down we ordered popcorn shrimp bread and a drink. I think that’s the only reason we received our food at all. It was completely empty when we first arrived and gradually filled to ¾. Our waiter was very polite and nice, but goodness gracious he was horrible at providing service. I asked for a straw and waited so long I got up and found someone with one. Ok fine no ones perfect. He didn’t refill our drinks at all! My husband got up and found someone to give us water. When he finally came back I asked for a dessert menu that never came. I just got up for the third time to find someone to give us the check. The shrimp was really good but we definitely won’t be coming back.

We came across this place by coincidence for lunch. Just looked over the menu outside and decided to try it. The atmosphere is nautical. The service is great and waiters and the bar tender are really friendly. Super clean and perfect for lunch. We liked it so much that we came back the next day for brunch. Try the linguini with clams it the ahi tuna sandwich both are great and super tasty.

We only ate there once with a light meal. The Caesar Salad was amazing. The drinks were good, too.

We were staying nearby and wanted an easy dinner spot — Blue Mermaid fit the bill. While it wasn’t our favorite meal of our stay in San Fransisco, it was better than average. The chowder was excellent. I’d definitely return and would like to explore more of the menu.

We went in Friday night 4÷29÷16. Great atmosphere! Our server BRIAN was attentive, funny and had some awesome recommendations. I tried the crab and corn Chowder which was their award winning chowder. Award winner can’t even come close to describing this dish. It was sooo yummy! The flavors were crazy good! All the food we ate was perfection. And the Bloody Mary? Yep it was fantastic as well. We almost needed a wheelbarrow to get us out to our car! This restaurant was a recommendation from a new friend who had been there«years» ago and I’m glad they are still there and doing a great business. The atmosphere like I said was great. They played some great radio music and it wasn’t too loud and we could still carry on a conversation. We were asked if we wanted dessert — but goodness not sure where we would have put it as we were so full! Can’t wait to visit San Fran again to have a return trip to this jewel of a restaurant!!!

Food: Corn and crab chowder and fish and chips were good. The Parmesan garlic fries were done right. The kid’s grilled salmon was good and so was the fresh fruit. The sourdough bread was okay but the calamari had no taste and the dip was awful. I dipped it into my husband’s cocktail sauce instead. The side of Mexican rice also had no flavor. The kid’s lemonade was not good either. Service: the hostess seated us right away. She was friendly. The waiter was nice enough but he kind of disappeared towards the end. He also never asked us how we liked our food and he never came by to offer dessert. Ambience: Nice décor and comfortable seating at the booth

We are just leaving and still don’t know the server’s name. Not sure if serving was an after thought or what. We enjoyed the food… oysters, chowder(shrimp was my fave) and the crab cakes… not salty at all. Cool building and good… appropriate volume music… but service was odd at best.

This was our second time coming here after participating in the Special Olympics 5k Dash and Polar Plunge. It was quite chilly today so we were looking forward to some clam chowder. I like the location, it’s not in a sketchy area and its amongst other restaurants that seem pretty busy as well. All of the clam chowders have pork in them except for the Manhattan, which is what I ordered and it contains mostly red bell peppers, shrimp, clams, and other veggies. Some chowders could actually be made gluten free as well for those on certain diets. My family and I also ordered calamari for an appetizer and it was very good! The marinara sauce was surprisingly spicy which we enjoyed. My brother’s Caesar salad was way too fishy in my opinion… But we enjoy this place and will probably be back next year after we take the Plunge! ;)

Really liked this place! The bartender was really nice and we actually made it for happy hour, which I would come back for if I’m ever in the area. I did the sampler(12 $) with New England chowder(wanted to play it safe with at least one), mussel and sausage(a little too tomatoe-y for me), and the shrimp and red pepper(really liked it! The red pepper is just bell pepper, so it wasn’t spicy, which was a relief for me. Lol). I also tried the splash bros(came in a martini glass, PRETTY strong, but still had a nice taste to it. Definitely did it’s job. Lol) & the primms cup(came in a mason jar with a handle, super cute! It was really good, maybe because I was already kind of tipsy from the first one. But if you want your money’s worth, both were happy hour & were 6 $, ask for light ice). Oh, btw, you have to sit at the bar in order to get happy hour(we went on Monday where it’s 3 to close). Nice inside & it wasn’t too crowded or loud, which I liked, but maybe that’s because it was a Monday.

Our hotel concierge told us to come here for their award winning corn and crab chowder so we checked it out. We weren’t up for anything super heavy for dinner so we settled on the cold seafood platter that included clams, mussels, lobster claws, oysters and shrimp. It was pretty solid. The chowders that we ordered were a trio including: Manhattan, New England and the Crab & corn. New England was by far my favorite of these. The crab & corn was nothing special. I’m a little surprised that it was award winning actually… The Manhattan was something different and almost had the feel of a vegetable soup. New experience for the boyfriend and I. Overall, the bartender was nice but it seemed like we were more of an inconvenience. The food was just okay. We probably had our hopes set higher than we should have for chowder.

B. Bei uns, Geburtstag feiern)

The tour guide we had pointed out this place as a great place to have chowder — but we didn’t have a spare moment to come here until breakfast on our last day. They didn’t serve the chowder, but we did have some delicious French toast with strawberry butter. We also ordered the black Irish coffees which were delicious.

Stopped here for breakfast. It was fine, pretty standard for a breakfast place really. Had eggs with bacon. The bacon is good. This is a short review because there’s not much to say. Pretty average but so many places at Fisherman’s Wharf aren’t open for breakfast so if you’re in a pinch or biking across the Golden Gate Bridge early in the morning, this is a good stop on the way. You can rent bikes next door and/or park your bike outside. I really loved their bathroom though. Had this amazing blue mermaid wallpaper. Totes worth the look, it is in the hotel however.

Went to this place during my recent trip to SF. I heard so many great things about it being one of the best for its chowders. Let me tell you, was not disappointed at all. I either have good luck in having people recommending good places to eat or I have good taste. Its located near Fishermans Wharf so its a great place to eat when you’re a tourist because its next to many things to see. We went on a weekday so it wasn’t crowded and we got in right before they closed for dinner. The staff was very attentive and friendly as well sine they knew we were tourists. We went solely for the purpose of the legendary chowders. We tried the sampler trio and each one was delicious that we ended up ordering a bowl of the Manhattan clam. They do provide fresh bread to accompany your soup which was a nice bonus. Overall satisfied. If you’re ever in this area, it is a must go to!
