I ordered bangen Bharta and garlic naan on eat24 for carry out. As you walk near the restaurant the fragrant smell instantly makes you drool and hungry! The portion is generous, the bangen Bharta was super flavorful, perfect for a cold SF evening. will come back to try other dishes!

I’ve gone here a couple of times now. Pretty interesting to find Indian food in North beach. They probably have the best chicken tandoori I’ve ever had in the US — on par with having it in India. The rest of the dishes were very good, but I’ve also had better. The naan was very good as well, and so was the rice. My only complaint is that I kind of didn’t like that you have to order at the cashier, get your own plates and utensils and napkins, and then go to the cashier to pay, but then they have a tip line on the printout if you pay by credit card — which of course pressures you to give a tip for services you never received.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants. Great service, even when they’re busy. The only dish I ever tried there and didn’t like was the goat curry. Everything else has been amazing.

I love Indian food and this place has some of the best in the city. We live near by so we get takeout all the time, the Tike masala is fantastic and also the lamb biryani. The portions are quite big so we always have leftovers the next day, cold Indian food Mmmmmmm

The most amazing is their lamb shank nihari. Yummiest chicken tangri kababs… Must visit if around.

Ordered through postmates and pleasantly surprised. Lamb vindaloo was delicious and spicy and the eggplant dish was also great. Naan(garlic and plain) were standard and we ordered basmati rice as well(rice is not included with entrees). Postmates took a long time so food was pretty cold when it arrived but the flavors were still there. Great option for Indian in the city!

Their food is consistently delicious. Paneer tikka masala. Chicken biryani. Yum. Yum. Yum. Staff is awesome. I just wish they had a suggestion box so I could ask/request/beg they add Butter Chicken to the menu. :)

Get this: — Chicken Tikka Masala — Aloo Palak(Spinach and potatoes) — Rice — Naan Slowly but surely this has become one of my top 3 favorite Indian restaurants in the bay area. The food is consistently good, the service amiable, and the price is right(40% less than Lasan)! I love ordering delivery via at the Unilocal/Eat24 app. They usually have it ready in 10 or 15 minutes. I really wish they delivered, though.

Good food and okay service. I have been to this restaurant a few times now. Food is clean and tasty. (I hope they make their raita with organic yogurt. Times are changing and nowadays people appreciate organic more than ever.)

Got delivery from here via Postmates, and woooow. So good. Everything was still hot, the samosas were crispy, and the chicken tikka masala was delicious and had good chicken. Everything came with extra side sauces(the sweet brown one and the green one) so the dipping/flavor mixing was bomb. I ordered: chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas(2 per order), garlic naan, rice

We were going to a show next door at Cobb’s Comedy Club and wanted to grab dinner beforehand. Curry Leaf was a pleasant surprise! Order and pay at the counter then they’ll deliver your food to your table. You help yourself to water, sauces, utensils and whatever else you may need placed at the back of the restaurant. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, aloo palak, a side of basmati rice and garlic naan. Everything was delicious! I recently had aloo palak at an Indian restaurant and it was so bland, this wasn’t the case here. The side of basmati rice was enough to share for two, including the garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala was nice and creamy with tender pieces of chicken. Prices are very reasonable! Great place to come to if you’re in the area looking for a quick affordable bite to eat!

Ordered take out so can’t speak to the dining experience. I’ve had better Indian elsewhere. Their chicken tikka masal and their«specialty» benghan barta just tasted like spicy salt. There was an initial hit of flavor when you first take a bite but that quickly becomes overpowered by an intense salty taste. I love benghan barta and was disappointed how bad theirs was. The naan was also on the thinner/crispier side for my liking. On the pros, their palak paneer was great and so was their kheer. I’m guessing it’s a hit or miss with their dishes. I would not order from here again though.

3.5 stars Whaddya know? a restaurant that’s not Italian in North Beach! We were looking for a casual place to grab a quick bite on a misty SF night and the smells beckoned us from blocks away. Who can resist Indian food? Order up at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Make sure to get the vegetable samosas to start(stuffed with potatoes and peas) and double up on the chicken tikka masala. The creamy tomato sauce is the right accompaniment for that large garlic naan. We also tried their palak paneer as I missed this dish so much when my uncle used to make it a lot for me back then. If things get heated up for you, cool down with their raita, a yogurt flavored cucumber. Due to the location and obvious Italian dominance in the neighborhood, most entrees cost $ 10 above. Watch your bill closely, I was double charged on my side order of basmati rice.

Food = good. Pakora = delicious vegetables dipped & fried in a spiced batter. $ 3.99. Onion naan = piping hot, chewy, thin naan stuffed with some sweet onions. $ 1.99. Plain rice pillau = enough for 2 – 3 servings. $ 1.99. Chicken tikka masala = perfect. Not too sweet, spicy, and addicting smokiness. $ 11.49. Palak paneer = cheese cubes in spinach. Overall, I thought it was bland, and ended up leaving some behind. $ 9.49. Masala chai = strong. $ 1.50. Service = efficient at the counter. Self service. Signs are posted! Seating = plenty to choose from. Dim lighting. C’mon! Prices = moderate. $ 35 for dinner for two, including one soft drink. Overall, good place to get to before a show.

I have got food delivered to work from Curry leaf a couple of times and I will definitely recommend it to anyone in the city. I ordered both the times through the Eat24 app. I also like how there is an option to mention the spice levels. My favorite is the tikka masala(both chicken and paneer). It goes great with both the naan and rice. The portions were good enough to feed 3 people. I ordered it spicy. It was indeed spicy but I liked it. The chicken biriyani was a little bland. We ordered it medium spicy. Maybe next time, will try ordering a level higher. Also, they forgot the raitha with my order. The delivery was also prompt. Overall worth your money.

It actually makes me quite sad to give this place 4 stars, due to the fact that food is actually really good, probably some of the best I’ve had. Here is why I’m giving it 4 stars, the guy in the front was on the phone for quite a while before he even acknowledged us, anyhow the main reason why I gave it 4 start is that I got burned naan and idk if they hoped I’d eat anyways and not notice or they just didn’t want to bother to remake it. However the reason why they didn’t get less than 4 stars it’s because once I told them that the naan was over cooked they did remake it and apologize, which was really nice of them to do, I got the nihari, which is lamb stewed in a traditional spicy sauce and boy was it amazing, I highly recommend it. The idea behind this place is great, it’s kind of fast Indian food joint with great food.

CLOSEDONMONDAYS. Use«Order Ahead» app to place your order ahead of time for pickup or delivery. Lamb chop with tamarind and green sauce was delicious! Get it! Long Story: I live in Hawaii but I was in San Francisco for about 9 hours on Monday and really wanted to eat at Curry Leaf, but they’re closed on Monday, so I found someone to order food for me the night before I arrived. Me: «Sister, can you please order the Lamb Chop, Tikka Masala, and Karahi Chicken from Curry Leaf on Sunday, I’ll be arriving on Monday morning and can eat it when I fly in.» Sister: «Don’t you want to eat fresh Indian food?» Me: «Yeah but I want Curry Leaf.» Sister: «Lets go to Amber India. That’s my favorite place. You shouldn’t eat leftovers if you’re only going to be here for a few hours.» Me: «But I really want to try the lamb chop. My friend says it’s so good he ate there twice during his last trip to SF.» Sister: «But you know how hard the rice gets when you refrigerate it.» Me: «Just microwave it, it should be okay.» Sister: «I don’t have a microwave.» Me: «What!!?» Best sister ever. She bought a microwave, used Order Ahead to place her order, picked up the food on Sunday. She picked me up from the airport on Monday and we went straight to her place so I could eat Curry Leaf leftovers and it was outstanding. I don’t normally like lamb but this lamb was not gamey at all, and the cilantro chutney and tamarind sauce were flavor explosions on the lamb. So freaking good. The tikka masala was also very good and the karahi chicken was kind of oily but also very flavorful. The chicken biryani was a little bit spicy and also hit the spot. The rice they use is the longest grains of rice I’ve ever seen! After we ate that, we headed straight to Amber India and ate more Indian food. Two totally different places but this one would definitely be in my rotation if I lived here in SF. I even made my sister a fan of Curry Leaf! If my sister is reading this, I’m gonna ask you to bring some back home the next time you come back to Hawaii…

I suggested Curry Leaf after reading rave Unilocal reviews and seeing it pop up on my food delivery apps. Curry Leaf delivered exactly what my friends and I were looking for, which was a tasty yet very casual Sunday Supper with a sit-down atmosphere. The concept is pretty straight forward: take a menu, sit down, and order at the counter when ready. It’s best to visit Curry Leaf with a group so that plates can be split. For example, the bread and rice is sold separately and they are very large portions. Both bread and rice sides easily serve two people. The hot dishes like curry and tandoori are more single-serve portions. After visiting the utensil and water stations we sat down at our table. Our wait was quite minimal for our main dishes and came out piping hot. I was very impressed with the complex flavors and ideal consistency of the tandoori and curry dishes. I will certainly be back and I will also remember Curry Leaf for potential lazy night food delivery and takeout!

Just had one of my favorite Indian meals ever! The dish that really stood out was the Palak Paneer which was THEBEST I have ever had. The flavors were so well developed and I couldn’t really pinpoint the ingredients/specific spices but there was something special and unique there that I haven’t tasted in other palak paneers. The paneer had a fresh, soft yet firm texture(not rubbery like a lot of paneers out there). So good! We also had the Nihari which was great as well — the meat quality they use is way better than most Indian restaurants around. We completed the meal with Chicken Karahi which also had amazingly complex flavors. The service is great as well! Super welcoming and friendly :). Will definitely be back whenever I need my Indian fix!!!

Very expensive for the food quality. Did not liked it at all. I asked some lamb dish and it was not worth what I payed. Those who say it to be the best Indian restaurant in SF have very low standards
