Bet you didn’t know you could get a complete lunch for 3.75 in SF. Well, you can get a sandwich with 2 sides here for that price. Crazy. The lady behind the counter was sweet and helpful. Can’t wait to come back for some ice cream when it’s not so chilly.. .

I have been Miyako’s customer for about 7 years now. And what keeps me coming back is Tom, the sweetest and kindest man that I know. I honestly don’t know how they keep their business from prices that low for the quality you get, but I guess the locals just keep coming back for more of their sweet ice cream served by a sweeter old man. As for ice cream, they have a good selection. They serve Mitchell’s ice cream and Dreyer’s. Also the price is soo cheap! The sandwich is pretty cheap, and has a good portion, buttt I personally didn’t think it was that good. Recommended? YESSS, for ice cream! Support local businesses :)

Everything about this place is wonderful. Tom is such a genuine and friendly guy that it warms my heart haha. He recognized my friend and told us how excited he gets to see returning customers. I don’t know any other place that gives you so much food for $ 3.50. I’d come here all the time if I lived a bit closer. Definitely give this place a try!

Living a block from Fillmore St., I’ve been a loyal patron of Smitten since Day 1. My roommate and I decided to try out a different ice cream place to break up our routine, and I am so glad we did! Miyako Old Fashioned Ice Cream doesn’t seem like much on the outside, but once we walked in, our taste buds were overwhelmed with a wide, colorful menu of candies, Mitchell’s ice cream, Dreyer’s ice cream, sub sandwiches, Chicago style hot dogs, sundaes, floats, and milkshakes! Miyako’s exudes nostalgia and truly has a local, no frills vibe. We chatted with Tom, the owner, and the business has been around for 22 years. He was extremely kind, sincere, and let us try out a few flavors before I decided on Buko, which is a young coconut flavor. LETMETELLYOU, ONEOFTHEBESTICECREAMS I’VEEVERHAD– creamy with little chunks of coconut, I definitely will go back(tomorrow) for another scoop. Not to mention, a «single» scoop in a cup(which actually was like 3 scoops) cost me only $ 3 flat. For that large of a serving, I would have paid at least $ 12 at Smitten. Pros: + local business + honest management(Tom is the nicest dude ever) + quality ice cream with unique flavors + affordable prices + charming Cons: + cash only + limited toppings; nuts, chocolate syrup, cherries, whipped cream only

$ 3.50 Sandwich Good San Francisco is the Vibe you get. At first Glance you think its only an Ice Cream Shop. But once you actually step inside and take a 360 View. You can experience the nestagia of youth come back to you. Its a cozy little spot. Kept secret with the locals. A good ol Fahion Sir greets you with a classic smile and ask in a gebtle voice. what can I help you with today.;) Itd family run and they veen around for a long time. But the Best kept secret is. $ 3.50. You get a classic Fresh made whole Deli Sandwich. It comes with crunchy thick tortia chips layered with warm melted cheddar and sprinkled with pickled Jalepeno sliced plus a side of either potato salad or macaroni salad. Im a Mac fan. Meats choices are: Hot Pastrami, Roast Beef, Pastrami, or Turkey. Defineltly will fill you up in a wholesome way. If you crave meat. $ 1.50 to double the meat;) Mitchels IceCream served right with 3scoops. Pich a container, cone or waffle. And yes they dont try to extra xharge anyting or overprice. Good honest family shop. Best wishes to more years to vome. Became an instant fan a few weeks ago. Thanks James Kim for the recomendation, definetly an upgrade from Subway in a great way.;)

Linda X put it really well, so I’ll reblog here: «Tom the owner was super excited to hear that I found the store through Unilocal! He’s soo nice and friendly. He offered to let me sample several flavors while I was looking. The place has a ton of charm and is the exact type of business I am happy to support.» My words: This place seems to have everything: a bunch of different ethnic varieties of ice cream(Jamaican, Japanese) It was just delicious and is a quirky small shoppe that you feel like a treasure hunter for having found.

Sandwiches are on point if you’re on a budget! $ 3.50 you can’t beat the price. Served with your choice of nacho chips, potato salad, cole slaw or macaroni salad. And they have all different kinds of ice creams. They even sell candy and hot dogs. I always come back because the gentleman that owns it is so sweet.

A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. What a treat! Tom is the most gentlemanly of hosts. I’m kicking myself for not taking a photo of the sweet cone he put together for my son. My kiddo asked if he could get a mix, and Tom said, «Of course.» Kid selected the mixed sherbet and NY cherry. Tom passed from one ice cream case to the other to not just plop two scoops on top, but to put ½ a scoop of sherbet, ½ NY cherry, then another ½ scoop of sherbet, and the topper of ½ scoop cherry. In the words of my 9 year old, «I felt like he was a really nice man. I felt lucky because he gave me four layers and I only asked for two. That was a very nice thing.» While paying, Tom asked if we’d ever visited before. I said no, because we usually go down Webster, but said we’d be back. He said«It’d be nice to have you back.» What special people making special memories and treats for their neighbors. Big Love to Miyako and Co. !!

The place has a ton of charm and is the exact type of business I am happy to support. They have many unique flavors of Mitchell’s ice cream as well as Dryers. I got a small Ube(purple yam) flavor for only $ 3.50. The serving size was really generous and I couldn’t finish it. This place is definitely worth stopping by!

Quick friendly service. They had a lot of options for ice cream flavors. Let us try various ones and didn’t seem to hesitant when we asked them. The sold Mitchell’s Ice Cream here which have very delicious and interesting flavors. I Had the makapuno tasted like a pumpkin potato-y dessert. Delicious and refreshing!

Awesome hidden gem in the neighborhood. They had a really expansive selection of flavors: from the more unique like avocado to the tried and true rocky road. You can have your choice of a simple cone/cup or a milkshake. They also serve hot sandwiches which also seemed popular.

The old man was very nice to me when I came. There is also c candy and snacks, along with over a dozen flavors of ice cream. Too bad it’s a bit of a seedy neighborhood. But if my boyfriend and I want some cold dessert nearby, we’ll come here.

After a visit to the doctor, I needed a pick-me-up and got my lovely Sidecar driver to drop me by Miyako’s for a pint of Mitchell’s Grasshopper Pie. $ 5.85 and she filled it about a scoop and a half over its capacity. Mitchell’s of course makes delicious ice-cream and I won’t give Miyako’s credit for that, but it’s an awesome ice-cream shop in the frozen-dessert-wasteland of Lower Pac Heights.

Adorable old timey ice cream spot on Fillmore. I was really pleased to see the random Filipino ice cream flavors and an avocado flavor(which I almost got). I snagged a small cup of the Ube flavor which was delicious and if you’re into Asian sweet potatoes this is totally your jam.

Really delightful little ice cream and sweet shop in the Fillmore. Tucked in a row of other(mostly closed) businesses and sort of under the overpass, this place is an oasis of deliciousness and the owner(who was there, serving us late on a Thursday night) was super nice, patient and humble. Great experience overall. Ice cream was fantastic — they serve Mitchell’s, Dryers and seem to have a bunch of really off-the-wall flavors like avocado and Mexican chocolate. They claim to have over 100 flavors. Take that Baskin Robbins. They also do hot dogs and have a crazy assortment of candy and other treats. Prices are reasonable and definitely go and plan to be blown away.
