For me their pizza was average. But I never tried their Brazilian food. According to their website this place CLOSED on April 21st, to merge operations at their West Portal location.

So… the roomie and I decided to go on the Master Cleanse, but before we did… we decided. Let’s have a last hurrah day and eat WHATEVER we want. So we decided taqueria and pizza. Since this joint is right the corner from us and was pass it each day on the way home from the 38 we thought we’d try it out. We ordered a slice of the house specialty, Pizza Di Bufala with all kinds of toppings pepperoni, sausage, green bell peppers, mozz,…basically a combo pizza. It looked and smelled great. When we did bite into it, it was a bit disappointing. The flavors, as layered as this slice of pizza was was pretty bland. Also, the big kicker for me, the bottom was completely soft, not crunchy at all. Cookie and solved this problem by tossing it into the oven for a few more minutes on a baking sheet. But since we are paying for our pizza, why should we have to bake it ourselves? If I wanted to do that, I’d get DiGiorno. So meh… on an «I crave pizza and must have it now» kinda day, I guess this place would work. I have yet to try there Brazilian food, but the menu looks inviting,…maybe I’ll edit my review after I try that stuff… :) ** Note: we ordered two different slices, one slice of MdB and one slice of pepperoni and sauasage with cheese, they gave us two slices of MdB. We didn’t notice til we got home b/c we ordered to go. 3 Yummerz stars from me.

This is a great go-to place. Perfectly greasy(not too much so where you feel like you’re eating yourself into a stroke), and fresh toppings ready in a flash. I live a few blocks away and have never had to wait longer than 30 minutes and their delivery guy is here with a smile on his face! A pizza night that you will not regret!

The pizza from this place is good. I’ve only eaten it three times, but it’s been consistently tasty each time. A solid four-and-a-half-star choice, but I won’t round up until they start delivering the little pizza magnets again. It used to be that when you ordered pizza from this place, they’d give you a slice-shaped magnet. When you had collected enough magnets to form an entire pizza, you got one free(I think). Well, they stopped doing this. We don’t need more things from China, but that concept was cool, and I’m sure there’s some place in this country that still makes magnets.

WOWWOWWOW. This was really great pizza. It was the perfect balance between traditional italian pizza — the best cheese, a perfectly crispy base, a fabulous crust and balance of toppings — and a gourmet pizza with interesting toppings including a mexican with jalepenos. We also tried the cream cheese filled jalepenos — not sure how they fit in with pizza, but they tasted great, as did the house salad. We had a quick meal here before a show at Yoshis and it was perfect. The –1 star was for there not being enough staff when the restaurant is full and the phone is running hot. We had great service early on and then when a few more tables filled up, it was hard to get our check.

UPDATE — MAY31, 2008 The Fillmore location has closed, and I just noticed it’s off my list, dammit. However, the West Portal one lives on… ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ORIGINALREVIEW — FEBRUARY4, 2008: So would it be excessively bold of me to say that Mozzarella di Bufala has the best delivered pizza I’ve had in the city? Now I’m not counting the likes of Little Star where you actually have to go get it. No, I’m talking about the mountain coming to Mohammad on a dark, dreary and rainy night when you need to have pizza to offset climate-related depression. I think it’s the thin crust. It has a nice light texture, especially around the rim where you would think it would get chewy and hard. They say it’s «hand-spun»…whatever that means. For $ 20.90, Jamie W. and I split a 14″ Italian Pizza, which came with lots of artichoke hearts, sausage, sliced Roma tomatoes and pepperoncini. You would think that would be enough but no… we went for a $ 6.75 order of Di Bufala Hot Wings… tasty as they were marinated in their pepper sauce. Good thing there were eight as arm wrestling would have been necessary to ensure the better man got more wings. OK, you would think that would be enough. Oh no. We got the $ 4.50 Bruschetta, which was actually a split sourdough loaf, toasted and buttered with a fresh tomato salsa ladled liberally on top. Yes, that’s it. We had a night of DVDs ahead of us… and as were both bawling over the last scenes of «Dear Frankie» — when the stranger says goodbye to the deaf boy and his mother — I was still wondering if my stomach had room for another slice. It did… at least temporarily. I need to try their Brazilian dishes sometime. They sound great, though they sound like they would be better experienced at the restaurant itself… wherever the hell it is. I love Rio. Tall and tan and young and lovely… the girl from Ipanema goes walking. Oh and they have feijoada… I love feijoada. FOOD — 4 stars… the pizza is terrific… that crust is a meal in itself AMBIANCE — n/a…well, I need to do a bit of cleaning around the place… oh, you mean the restaurant? I have no clue SERVICE — 4 stars… always timely and courteous… they never complain about my endless stairs TOTAL — 4 stars… big and round and hot and lovely… the pizza from Di Bufala goes down my throat… and I say«Ahhhhh!»

We order from this restaurant all the time. The food is always great, service is excellent and delivery is really fast. We ordered pizza on Sunday night and it was delivered twenty minutes later. I’m really surprised to see the negative reviews here. I’m kind of a picky eater and bad service totally ticks me off and I have had nothing but great experiences here. I think they have one of the better pizza sauces in town and I think the sauce is the most important part! The lasagna is also very good — its a large portio that will easily feed two people for dinner. I’m subtracting one star for the Styrofoam packaging of the desserts. The cheesecake always tastes like Styrofoam. Yes, yes, yes I have tried this several times hoping for a different outcome. And, yes, you have to eat the whole piece of cheesecake to make«sure» the whole thing tastes like the ‘foam. It does.

We ordered from this place via last night. What a mistake! First off, it took almost 1.5 hours for the food to get here! As you might expect, it was also cold by this time… Then the order wasn’t even right, and then the delivery guy was rude to top it all off! We ordered 22-LIter bottles of Diet Coke(we were pretty hung over so the caffine and fluid was in high demand). The restaurant accidentally sent regular Cokes and when we suggested that they either take it off the bill or return with the correct item, the delivery guy was totally unresponsive — just kind of groaned and pretended he didn’t even hear our request. He didn’t even appologize. Finally after I got in his face and insisted, he agreed to take the 2 regular Cokes off the bill and return the incorrect items to the restaurant. They have decent pizza(and by decent I mean not as bad as every other delivery joint in the city), and I don’t blame people for simple mistakes, but the guy was such an asshole to us on top of it! If this is the kind of service you get from this place, I’ll think twice before ordering there.

I’ve been here so many times. I work just across the street. I tried very hard to give this place a chance to prove itself an adequate pizza place. The pizza is all I ever got. The thick layer of cheese they cake on the top gets cold before I get to work(Safeway). If you go there for the lunch, look for the special and ask for it. If you order two slices of pizza you pay 6.73, but if you get the lunch special you pay 6.00 tax included. They won’t suggest the special, so remember it. It sucks to see the special on the wall when you grab a seat to wait for your pizza.

I read the reviews last night and I thought I’d give the pan crust pizza a shot since everyone RAVES about it. One word: garbage. In fact, most of it is in the garbage right now. I thought the pizza box had more flavor. First off: it’s cold. Secondly: it tastes like a microwave pizza that had been thrown out and then reheated two days later. I honestly felt like a homeless bum while I was gagging this stuff down. My last question is: How hard is it to make friggin pizza? After eating this pizza, all of the other pizza places I’ve reviewed before have gone up at least one star. This place makes them look like geniouses. Bravo

What is it about the flavor combination of garlic, lemon, capers and butter which makes a grrl want to lick a plate clean after her meal? Seriously, what is it? Oh-my-EFFING-golly-gee-whiz! My dinner tonight = AWESOME! The food: — Chicken picata, thick-juicy chicken breasts lightly sauteed in the aforementioned flavor combo and served over a bed of al dente spaghetti. LEYUM! Perfection flavor explosion in the mouth of me… OFMEEEE! — A spring salad with ripe tomatoes, hearts of palm, cucumbers, tons of BIGAZZ grilled shrimp and shaved parmasean cheese… — Chocolate raspberry cheesecake… w/fresh raspberries… FRESHRASPBERRIES!!! This made me seriously happy… like weeping happy. Food = EXCELLENT They lose a star because it took them two hours to get it to me. (Which should indicate how yummy the food actually was, as how the hell do you make up for a two hour wait? Really!) Don’t order from here if you’re Starvin’ Marvin — but, if you don’t mind waiting a bit your tastebuds will be rewarded!

Have I found my new pizza delivery place? Maybe… Not 100% sure, but I am sure that MdBP is pretty good. The wings were surprisingly large and juicy. The sauce was not a typical hot wing sauce, but was pretty spicy. It’s described as lemon paprika, but personally I didn’t taste much of either. It was almost curry like in consistency with some creaminess. But it was good and on the hotter side of the scale. The zucchini sticks were average. I’m not particularly sold on the pizza though. I ordered thin crust, but the crust wasn’t really thin. Lots of cheese and no skimping on the toppings though. I’ll try more and report back. I also want to try the cornmeal crust pizza. I’m intrigued, sounds like it could be really good. And the Brazilian dishes. Wish they served pao de queijo though. At least they have guarana antarctica!

meh. I really don’t like their pizza – I’ve had it twice or maybe three times and I was very unsatisfied. I had never stopped eating a pizza before because it tasted bad to me… that’s a big deal. (my BF happens to disagree strongly with me about the pizza thing – but that’s okay cuz we both love Pizza Hut) Their meat ravioli is very tasty – I think they use a combo of meats in it to give it a fuller flavor. I LIKE.

a huge disappointment! So, I’m hungover(why is it that as you get older the hangovers last all day! ?!), finished work and all i want to do is eat something and sleep. I used and ordered a pizza from this place. Ive ordered from them before and wasn’t that impressed but this time i was almost disgusted! I ordered a medium pizza with chicken and ricotta and some deep fried mozzarella. The pizza was cold when it arrived and the Chicken tasted like it was out of date. Plus they used brown chicken WTF ? The mozzarella sticks were just as revolting. They were cold, smelt of smelly socks and had the consistency of rubber(even when put in the microwave !) It gets one star because the delivery time was quick and the delivery guy was very courteous and gave me a smile. I will never order from here again !

This is my favorite delivery spot. 19 times out of 20 their pie is awesome. Thin crust good sauce, proportionate amounts of toppings not an excess of cheese, just right. The only negatives are they seem to have a delivery charge and the delivery guy can’t seem to understand my intercom system even though it is exactly the same as every other intercom in this city. Oh well I guess for delicious pizza I will take the elevator downstairs and open the front door. Oh and they give you these pizza slice magnets every time you order and once you get ten(a whole pie) you get $ 15 off your next order.

Understand that dairy is my life force.(I drink milk by the pint glass.) Know that I live with and share 80% of dinners with a lactose intolerant.(Oh, and apparently those enzyme pills aren’t 100% effective.) Enter Mozzarella di Bufala. A port in the stormy sea of dinner delivery decision making. By offering Brazilian selections consisting of saucy meats, rice, and beans along with pizza(cheese! glorious cheese!) they bring peace to the fraught hour that is 7pm.

I don’t like pizza… I know most people think I am a freak for that, but whatever. My husband loves pizza and would eat it everyday if I let him. This is the perfect place for us because they have great pizza that my husband loves and awesome brazilian food! Oh the feijoada is the best. Just thinking about the feijoada and the collared greens served with it makes my mouth water. I normally am not a fan of veggies but they make their collared greens so good. They are still slightly crunchy and have a hint of lemon and salt to them. The delivery guys are always nice and they always deliver in a timely manner. I love Brazilians! Try them!

I’ve definitely had better pizza. But when it’s raining like crazy and you have no food in the house because you’ve been away a week spending Christmas with your family, Mozzarella Di Bufala will come to your rescue. You can order online, and after a not-so-long wait a friendly face will arrive with a decent pizza for a pretty nice price. And that’s all I was wanting, and it’s exactly what I got. I will order from them again, for sure!
