We eat here a lot partly because it is within walking distance of our house, but we also really like the food. It is not our absolute favorite restaurant in the city, but definitely high up on our list. Lots of vegetarian options(remember to ask them to make the food without fish sauce and also without MSG) Delicious food, friendly staff, nice vibe, decent prices, and we usually get our food pretty fast, even during busy times. When we have friends visiting who like Thai food, we almost always take them here and they are never disappointed. Definitely recommend it to others!

This place is great! Inexpensive and reliable Thai food. My favorites are the green curry with chicken and the pumpkin red curry, both with brown rice. They also deliver within the neighborhood which is awesome.

My roommate gave me the thumbs up for this place, despite the health score. We decided to say eff it — we’ll take our chances!(we were really craving thai food and this was the closest place) I got chicken pad thai. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad pad thai so I guess you could say I’m always on the hunt for a memorable pad thai. In regards to portion, they give you a lot. I read someones review saying that when you get it to-go you get more and perhaps that’s true because I had enough for two full meals. Negative star because I asked for it to be spicy and repeated it twice and it had zero spice. That’s always my biggest issue with thai places — they never actually make it spicy when I request. Also the lady I order from on the phone spoke so fast and hardly listened, I wasn’t sure she got our order. They did call when it was ready for pick up which was nice. Only took about 15 minutes for it to be ready. But, not major complaints. I’m likely to come back next time I’ve got a thai craving again!

This is my absolute favorite Thai place in the city! I’ve been here over a dozen times the last few years which considering the many options in and around SF I think is a lot. My go to dish is the Panang Curry. Delicious! I want some right now just writing about it. If you’re here with another person, you can easily share dishes and still have leftovers to take home. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The ambience is warm and a good place to take a date. If you are on a date, try getting a seat by the window for a good view looking down on Haight Street.

Came here on a late Friday night(around 9pm) after a solid happy hour with lots of wine, so we were looking for some good Thai food to satiate our quest for drunk food ;) Luckily, we found Ploy II just a few blocks away and stumbled in. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall(you have to walk up the stairs and the restaurant feels more like dining at someone’s home – not necessarily a bad thing). There were three of us and we got seated immediately. We ordered a few appetizers to split, the calamari and the spring rolls, and a few noodle and rice dishes family-style. Everything came out rather quickly. The calamari was pretty good – crispy and hot. The spring rolls were okay, but not something I’m dreaming about. The entrees were also just pretty average – the pineapple fried rice was kind of bland and flavorless and the noodles weren’t too special either. A little disappointing honestly but it got the job done

REALLY unhappy tonight. Came for my birthday and my favorite menu item was missing; found it named something else, and learned that it has ALWAYS contained OYSTERSAUCE. The dish was in the VEGETARIAN section and called PLOYVEGETARIAN. I was extremely upset and ordered it without the oyster sauce, and it was very disappointing. I am heartbroken that I’ve been deceived for 17 years now! I’ve asked in the past and was always told it was vegetarian, but oysters aren’t vegetarian. My favorite food of all time is now something I won’t be eating.

If you like shrimp and spicy food. This is the place for you! The vibe is awesome as well, located on the second floor with a great view. The wait staff is busy yet friendly. My favorite Thai restaurant in San Francisco!

Gods I love this place. Their delivery and food is wonderful. Also, not that ‘best of thai noodle’ has gone out of business, this is about the only reasonable place to find wonton noodle soup…

We walked around Haight street and started craving Thai food. The only concern I ever have with eating Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese food is that they load up their food with MSG. I have a tough time breathing after eating meals with that stuff In there. Before being seated, I asked if they use Msg in their food. They do! But you can request that they leave it out of your dish. Msg is sprinkled on food as a flavor enhancer. It looks just like salt. We ordered the chicken pad thai, drunken noodles, chicken larb, and sticky rice and mango for dessert. Food was really good, I definitely needed the thai chili sauce to compliment my meal. Then came the dessert. The mango wasn’t ripe, which is how it’s supposed to be. It’s not mango season so you can’t really blame them. Very friendly staff, bathroom was clean, prices ranged from 7– 11 dollars per dish. Appetizers are a little cheaper. We’ll be going back there soon!

Hidden Gem! This place is a bit hard to find if you don’t know where you are going, even though it’s on a major street. I wasn’t sure what to expect going up the tiny staircase into an upper Victorian story of a house but to say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement! So far, I’ve been there 3 times and each time everything ordered was a hit with everyone at the table. The standard pad Thai and pad see ew were perfect, satay well done, spring rolls super fresh and the Thai iced tea– delicious! But my favorite so far was the lemon chicken: it’s served on a bed of fried spinach with a sweet citrus aioli. Rich, but very satisfying. Good price point for what is being served and chill Thai style service make this my Thai go-to-spot in this neighborhood.

TL;DR: Easy to get in at 8:30 — 9:00PM; Good service; Homely décor; good salads; Spicy fish isn’t so fresh. I called ahead, but there was no need, it was half-full at 8:55PM so the server didn’t ask us for our names. You arrive at what looks like another house on Haight street, go up, and presto! It’s a Thai restaurant. It’s like eating at their personal home. We ordered: Beef salad — well prepared, good amount of cold beef strips, with mint, onions and that Thai sauce. Som tum(papaya salad) — less sweet and less spicy than what I like. I guess everybody has their own definition for what is «medium spicy» Spicy fish — this one has a lot of potential. It’s a battered fried fish filet in yummy black tangy sauce. Unfortunately, the fish didn’t feel fresh enough, and you can feel it even through the batter. Nobody likes stale fish. Overall the portions were pretty big IMO.

My favorite Thai restaurant! It looks crazy inside. Tons of hand written signs everywhere all DONOTENTER. SPECIALS. THAIICEDTEA. WEARENOTRESPONSIBLEIFYOUCHOKEON A PEANUT. Random parts of the restaurant are closed off and it is quite hot and cramped inside. None of this matters though because the food here is bomb! Got the eggplant, mango curry and the pumpkin curry with brown rice. I’m writing this review while on a juice detox and realizing how horrible of an idea this is. Wahhhhh. Definitely looking forward to coming back here!!!

If you like soup, which I do anytime of the day, you gotta check out the Tom Kha soup at Ploy II Thai Cuisine restaurant. Your choice is either chicken, pork or seafood Tom Kha soup. Now if you REALLY like soup with coconut, this is the place to be. I ordered the Tom Kha seafood soup. I also like Po Tak soup and I always order it but thus time I wanted to try a different Thai soup. Service was good. Everybody got their(party of 5) order in a short time. Although it took quite a long time for one of the soup dish awhile. Price was reasonable. For a party of 5 with 15% tip included, it was about $ 16 per person. I’m a big stickler for clean restrooms and their restroom was very clean and smelled good, too. If you like Thai food that’s obviously delicious and hearty feel-good food and but not pricey, ask for Jay. She’s awesome.

We ordered delivery from Ploy II on multiple occasions during our year long stay in SF so it’s definitely good enough to keep us coming back. The delivery portions are easily enough for 2 people and even have extra for a second meal. We would order the Pad See Ew(I recommend asking for extra vegetables), mango sticky rice for dessert and their yummy thai iced tea each. Thanks Ploy II for the year of Thai yumminess!

Awful. Food: 2 stars Service: 2 stars We came here on Friday night at around 8 o’clock to have dinner. After about 10 minutes the waitress came by to take our order: pad see ew with chicken & vege pumpkin curry with brown rice. The food came out very quickly. The noodles were the first to come. They were brown and oily. There was nothing to this dish except noodles and chicken. There were no carrots, no onions, just terrible, definitely one of the worst noodle dishes We’ve ever had to pay for San Francisco. The pumpkin curry wasn’t any better. Pumpkin curry was made from a yellow curry paste lacking flavor with the strong taste of Tumeric. Vegetables: boiled onions pumpkin carrots cabbage broccoli. They were literally just boiled and placed on top of the curry. I mean how hard is it to use a spoon and stir the vegetables into the curry? OK fine so the vegetables weren’t stirred into the curry and the noodles were oily and brown but it was food right? It’s nothing a little bit of hot sauce can’t fix. We asked for hot sauce, waited five minutes, then the waitress brought hot sauce to the table of diners next to us. They looked puzzled, they didn’t ask for hot sauce. We asked another waitress she disappeared into an abyss and never returned. 15 minutes later we asked third waitress, two minutes went by and our fellow, diner sitting next to us passed their hot sauce onto our table. Then a waitress appeared with a container filled with chili paste. She made the assumption that one of the other waitresses brought us hot sauce but in fact it was our neighbor diners hot sauce. All in all a very lousy experience. It’s too bad we wasted a Friday night dinner at this terrible restaurant. The waitstaff is only interested in gossiping at the back near the kitchen. The food is no good. There’s so many thai restaurants in the city and there’s no excuse to have such poor quality food and poor quality service.

Tom Yum Noodle Soup was okay for $ 12. Felt the soup would have been more delicious if the broth was bolder and there was more vegetables. Noodles were cooked well, soup was less than flavorful. Luke warm tea is $ 1 and they did not refill.

So I have never heard of Ploy before. I could barely see it from across the street, where we stood hurting after being told to wait 1.5 hours for a bar seat. Hungry cold and poor doesn’t bring out the best in people. We cut the hesitation short, it was just dinner we are not buying a house or adopting a kitten. Signage is old, stairs are narrow you make your way up and be greeted by the patron saint of fake flowers. Then something bizarre happens. You see and smell amazing food. We ordered the chicken green curry and prawns fried rice. Both were excellent and came to $ 24. Portions were large but I don’t suggest sharing, couldn’t stop eating past being full. Every single thing people ordered looked good, there was a fair amount of creeping happening in the name of Unilocal research. The menu is extensive and the service is quick and friendly. I mention service because it was mothers day weekend and they were so busy and worked really hard. That is it can’t wait to go back and dig into some comfort thai food.

I work nearby and have been exploring the Haight for good lunch spots. This restaurant was in range and I absolutely love Thai food. I love this cuisine so much I could eat it nearly every day of the week without fatigue. Despite being open to most of the standard dishes, I nearly always order a Thai iced tea and either pad thai or pad see ew. Today I had the pad thai and it was wonderful. The sauce was full of flavor and there was a good balance of chicken and tofu to noodles. I scarfed my lunch down within 5 minutes. The lunch serving was perhaps slightly small, but I’m not left hungry by any means. The Thai iced tea was rich as well and didn’t last more than a couple minutes while I was waiting for my order to go. I can’t comment on the atmosphere as I took my lunch to go, but it looked similar to most Thai style restaurants with a bit more of a homey mom-n-pop vibe. I gave this review 4 stars, but may bump it up to 5 after checking it out a few more times for consistency.

I’m on my insane Whole 30 diet, no soy, no dairy, no sugar, no flour, no rice. I thought I was going to starve! Boy was I wrong, I told the waitresses and they pointed me to the curries and soups. I had the yellow beef curry and sweet and sour chicken soup. They were both really good! I love the yellow curry, I’ve never had it taste that good before. I added broccoli to that dish and it was filling. I have a feeling that at least one of my No foods ended up in the dishes, maybe sugar. There is no way it all taste that good without something bad added in haha. Oh my god I had to come back to give them 5 stars. I’m eating left over yellow curry sauce and it taste even better than round one! I love their red curry with duck but this yellow curry might have won me over. Best yellow curry to hit my mouth!
