Really good subs. I’d say it could be a tiny bit cheaper, but I guess it’s on par with everything else in the city. Great lunch spot either way.

Oooh this use to be sooo sooooo good. I believe the ownership must have become different since I was last here years ago as the sandwiches are just not up to the same standards as before. I use to loooove the crab sandwiches but this last time I went it was so bland compared to what I remembered even after I seasoned with lemon and salt!!! I am very sad this is the case. I hope they will go back to making things like before but cannot say if I will make the way back here as it is out of the way now.

I got the lobster dip sandwich(not the sub), and it was amazing! It contained a really good amount of lobster, and was everything I hoped it would be.

This is the farthest from«Prime» a roast beef sandwich can get, I ordered rare, i got dried-out welldone crap. It’s over-priced and the au jus is mostly water. AVOID!!! Tommys Joint is not much bettet these days. Any suggestions?

Had the Italian and was pleasantly surprised it came with a side. We usually have Subway or Togos so we’re used to having to pay for a side of anything. The sandwich was delicious, but I was more impressed with the customer service. Let me just say the gentleman that helped us was really nice and quite generous. Being from San Jose, this visit made me realize there are food spots in SF that really care about the customers. I’m happy my family and I stumbled upon this place.

Made the mistake of ordering a crab sandwich from here. hard to overstate how disappointing that was. disgusting! also got a beef sandwich, that one was fine, no issues. so 3.5 stars on the beef, negative 10 stars on the crab

First-time caller here and it was good. Fresh meatball. Ingredients, bread toasted well. Nice homemade time put into food, not assembly line. Very average fries. Go with healthy option lowfat chips, not worth calorie tradeoff Friendly staff, trying hard in busy times get order right and there can be some rushes. Good seating options

Mmmmmm so good! Had the chicken sandwich. Was delicious. Sadly they ran out of fries so I opted for the Mac n cheese. The Mac Didn’t have too much flavor. But eh I ain’t mad! Filled my tummy prior for a night of drinking. Go for it, splurge on the sandwich 0:)

It’s really not that great. It’s a completely average French Dip place. The bread is good, the meat is OK, but the prices are ridiculous for what it is. Also, I ordered a 8″ dip for $ 13 and it wasn’t even close to that size. Since I had it delivered, I actually measured it and it was just a bit over 6 inches. So, even more of a bad deal, not to mention dishonest. Mac and cheese side was totally bland. I’ll never order anything from here again.

Wow I hate wasting money on mediocre food. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. Low quality beef, over cooked, and s small portion… for 15 $$$!!! Wtf? Am I missing something. Should ya e trusted my gut when I came in I hate these phony type restaurants. Tommys joyt never fails I will go their next time I want a sandwich. Again. Horrible.

This is my favorite neighborhood sandwich shop. The subs are the BOMB, and everyone is so kind. I always come here when I’m feeling too lazy to go grocery shopping, or if I’m in a hurry to eat. The sandwiches are huge(worth the price), and they’re always stuffed with the goods. Along with being big sandwiches, they also come with a side of your choice — love that. My pickup orders are always ready within 10 minutes or less. The food is consistently on point and so is the service. Highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and how good this place was. I got the regular prime dip with a side of fries — delicious and filling. I usually stop by after a hard workout at fitness SF next door, but I’m sure it would also make for the perfect hangover food.

3.5 stars for the taste rounded down for the price. You order at the counter and pick a table for them to bring it to you. Remember to check in to get a free soda with your sandwich. Service was really nice. On a weekday for dinner we were the only people there. I got the surf and turf(half lobster and half prime rib) for $ 17. It’s a pricey sandwich. There is a lot of chunks of lobster wrapped in lettuce that you can dip in delicious melted butter. I liked this sandwich more than the prime dip. The prime rib was flavorful and tender but really not worth the price. It does come with one side which I got mashed potatoes and gravy for an extra 50 cents. That was pretty average.

Well this visit didn’t start out to well. I called in advance placed my order and was told it would be 25minutes. Upon arrival was told they had no order. We rechecked the number and called to make sure it rang and sure enough right place. No apology for the inconvenience I was told that«the delivery guy took my order» and I was asked if I wanted to place an order? ended up waiting another 10 minutes on top of the 25i has already waited due to what I was told on the first call. On to the good stuff! I ordered the regular lobster dip with mac&cheese approx 15.00 lobster was fresh, but seemed to be way more roll and lettuce than meat, roll was warm and toasted perfectly the Mac and cheese fell a little short and but was ok.

I came here with friends awhile back after trying to grab brunch somewhere else that had a line. I had the whole lobster roll which cost way too much for the quantity. Yes it was pretty good but I did not feel the price was on par with the quantity and quality in a sub shop. Bread was ok, the lobster was fine, cold in temperature. Maybe this is how it’s supposed to be. My friends and I enjoyed the lunch overall, but I won’t come back here. I’m not a sandwich fan after all.

So, so, so disappointing. I was heading to Japantown AND needed a lobster roll and this place looked like a sure thing. Maybe mid-Friday afternoon wasn’t the time to go(the place was empty) but I was still excited for a lobster dip roll. It set me back around $ 18 and I sped away to my hotel. It looked good but seriously lacked in the flavor department. Would the butter sauce and lemon help? Nope. This was just super bland and really meh. I don’t know how lobster can have no flavour but they’ve nailed it here. If I was eating in, I would have taken it back but because I was 15 minutes away by car I just ditched it. I have dished out 2 stars to this place only because the chips were awesome.

4 star sandwich shop with 3 star pricing. It’s decent. The full size sandwich is enough for about 2 meals for me, but I like to portion out my food and it’s not especially large. I get the spicy horseradish and it indeed burns. The lady asked if I wanted to try the sauce, she was concerned for my well being :) That said, just really pricey… perhaps not by SF standards where you can’t get a sub $ 10 sandwich anymore but it just feels a little small for the money. I’ve had the roast beef and the lobster roll, which had a generous lobster portion but just not as tasty as what I could make myself for slightly less money.

Very disappointed today… I was excited when this place opened before because there’s a new joint for great sandwiches(because there’s no other choice aside from Subway). The question of the food before was terrific and fresh. Today I ordered a crab dip sandwich. It took quite a while since there was only 1 person working the line and another for the counter. But I should have realized that there’s something wrong when the lady at the back took crab from a container, mixed in melted butter and heated it in the oven. When I got home and opened my box I was so disappointed. The crab in the sandwich was really dry and the taste seems like it came out of a can mixed with some old crab meat. For the price being asked for its definitely a let down… I believe in supporting local joints but sorry Prime Dip I don’t think I’ll be back…

I’ve been eyeing Prime Dip for a while. I love a good meaty sandwich. Or lobster roll for that matter. Finally decided to hop off the bus and order takeout a couple weeks ago. I couldn’t decide what I wanted so I just ordered everything I was considering: *Lobster dip: maine lobster dipped in hot melted dill butter with mayo, Prime house salad($ 16.99 full) For some reason, I thought the full came with extra lobster. Instead it was a larger sandwich which was fine by me! 8″ instead of 4″. The lobster was good and the butter dip made the bread nice and soft. Yum! The salad, however was the complete opposite. No flavor except for the overwhelming beets. I wished I had ordered something else as a side. *Surf and turf: half prime rib and half crab, Coleslaw($ 14.99) Surf and turf is actually one of my favorite things. So this sandwich seem perfect! The prime rib side was meaty and the au jus added great flavor and moisture. The crab side had a good amount of crab. And the butter dipping sauce made it super rich and comforting. The coleslaw, on the other hand, was just eh. Tangy and not much else. Added some hot sauce to give it a kick. Prime dip is great for their sandwiches, but their sides are very lackluster. If I ever make it back again, I’ll pay to upgrade the sides. The mac & cheese and mashed potatoes looked promising.

Oh my! The sandwiches here are absolutely delicious. And they have delivery on both eat24 and grubhub!(Tip: If you live close, I recommend ordering off grubhub because you can pay the $ 5 delivery fee instead of the flat $ 10 fee on eat24). I ordered the full sized lobster dip and the regular sized crab dip today. The full sized sandwich actually isn’t that much bigger than the regular(I don’t think the 8″ full and 4″ regular are accurate measurements). I was not terribly impressed with the crab roll, but the lobster was SO succulent, rich, and delicious. Note: these sandwiches are served hot, unlike most other places that serve crab/lobster sandwiches chilled. I don’t know about you, but I like my sandwiches hot! As for the butter«dip», I personally prefer to just drizzle it on my sandwich. The macaroni side was good too, coleslaw not so much. I would give this place an overall 4.3.

I lived in Pac Heights for 3 yrs and never had a sandwich from Prime Dip. Boy was I missing out! I ordered the surf and turf(half prime dip and half lobster roll) and a crab salad sandwich. The Surf and Turf came with a free side so we got their mashed potatoes. We also got a free can of soda with Unilocal Check In. Everything was delicious! The lobster roll was packed with lobster meat that was tender and juicy. The bread was toasted perfectly, soft yet crunchy. The prime dip was pretty good too. The crab salad is like chicken salad with veggies mayo mixed with crabmeat. Delicious. They’re very generous with their meat. The mashed potatoes were super creamy and had a thick tasty gravy on top. Service was impeccable. Our server was very friendly and helpful. There was an incident in the restaurant where a woman started yelling and making strange comments to people in the restaurant. The worker nicely asked her to leave and not bother their customers as they are dining. He severely apologized about this person’s behavior who they had no connection with or control over. I was extremely surprised by how sorry the worker felt for something that was uncontrollable and not related to the restaurant itself. Even better, Paypal was offering a deal. I’ll definitely be coming back!
