They offer tasty and affordable food, friendly customer service as well as nice interior at their restaurant. It is definitely better place than«regular» Chinese hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and I’m happy I found it for to-go lunches or dinners. I’ve been hear three times so far, and liked everything I and my friend bought(different combo options). My favourites are Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Salt and Pepper Pork Spareribs, Peking Pork Spareribs, and Chicken Chow Men. They food tastes like real home food… It is $ 7.61 for a one side+two entries combo box.

I ordered 2 entrees with 1 side for lunch. Food was tasty but not fresh. Perhaps a new order would be fresh rather than taking from the buffet.

The food here is good but the service could use some work. I came here on a Saturday night and there were a few people here. I ordered a small orange chicken and another small order of spicy chicken, that was packaged immediately as that was already made. I saw that there was chow me in already made and ordered a large only to have someone ask us if I wanted a new batch made… QUESTION. what is wrong with what you have there?(But obviously I didn’t ask, but I should have) so I agreed to a new batch seeing that we ordered a large, the lady working said 7 – 10 minutes. We ended up waiting more than 15 minutes! And meanwhile our prepackaged chicken orders were getting cold. Yum(sarcasm). Also, I couldn’t tell if the chow me in was too greasy or too much sauce. We asked for water and got room temperature water. The food was OK. service and time estimates not so much. Call ahead if you already know what you want.

Pretty good food. You can get thai and chinese dishes. As well as some vietnamese food. The place is very clean despite the exterior of the store. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Overall, it’s ok

Called in for delivery from #1 Chinese Kitchen, whoever answered the phone seriously needs some lessons in etiquette. No «Hello!» No «Thank you for calling!» I was greeted with«What!?» I asked for delivery and was told that for them to deliver I have to call someone else. So I settle for take out, put in my order and am told it’ll be ready to pick up in half an hour. When I got to the restaurant and went in I was told that my food wasn’t ready, in fact it hadn’t even been started yet, and to come back in half an hour. They didn’t look busy, and the employee was rude about it. When I asked why they didn’t call me back to tell me the guy just shrugged. Guess what? Half an hour passed, they never called. An hour passed, they never called. Two hours passed, they never called & obviously don’t want my business. I’m fairly certain the first rule of being a restaurant is «give people food for money.» And since they can’t seem to do that my family will not be going back here.

The name says it all. This place is amazing, the beef chow fun is to die for. My favorite Chinese food place in all of San Jose!

Ok where do begin… The food is so delicious! The customer service is nice and they are very welcoming. Here is what I have tried: Salt and pepper spareribs — good but does have a lot of sugar Kung Pao Chicken — good chicken tasted a little undercooked Orange chicken — delicious and crunchy Basil fried rice — again ok nothing special Must try: Salt and pepper chicken wings– out of this world amazing! I made my own siracha ranch dip at home to go along w these :) Egg rolls– perfect crust, taste and sweets and sour sauce! House fried rice– amazing l! With Chinese sausage yum! Keep in mind $ 8 minimum for credit cards, closed on Tuesdays and only 2 samples allowed on the hot items. Enjoy!

I am so surprised by the great reviews. We ordered delivery from them and, though the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, everything was cold. The hot and sour soup was oddly… sweet. I also ordered the chicken and mixed vegetables. The chicken was rubbery and greasy. Could not eat it. Finally… the true nail on the coffin… NORICE. In my life I have never known a Chinese restaurant to deliver entrees without rice. The search for a great Chinese Takeout continues!

Food is mediocre. What really bugged me was the debit/credit card fee. A standard two entrée meal is $ 7, but the minimum to use a card is $ 8… Forcing you to either buy something else, or pay an extra fee.

Fast, Friendly and an easy take out. The price is a little more than other fast food take out but the food taste a little better than other fast food take out as well. So we pay for what we get. The *spicy* pad thai is actually really good even though its not really spicy. It’s a nice little twist in flavor. This place is convenient if you don’t want to cook for the night. =P The Owner/staff is pretty awesome and friendly.

Just moved here, looked on Unilocal, thought we would try it. Had Sesame chicken, Famous House Chicken, Spicy Thai Basil Fried Rice, Yang Fried Rice, Thai chicken egg rolls and Sweet and Sour pork. It was awesome! All of it. Ordered it to go, picked it up and the women that checked us out was so nice and kind. We will be back! Thank you!

We’ve been wanting to try this place but always opted for the familiar. First impressions are everything, and this place did not disappoint! The salt & pepper spareribs are addicting! The house chicken had great flavor. We’re definitely going back to try out a few other dishes.

Yikes! Pretty disappointed with the food quality, especially after all the great reviews here. Sweet & sour chicken was extremely fatty and rubbery, the kind of texture that my throat fought back on when I tried to swallow it down. The pineapple fried rice was over-seasoned to the point that it was hard to taste the pineapple at all. Same rubbery, greasy chicken pieces inside the dish. Looked more like lamb than chicken. 2 stars because they were quick to prepare and the Beef & Broccoli was ok. I usually love Chinese fast food/take out, too! Sad that this one didn’t work out.

For those that know my tastes in food, my guilty pleasure is greasy hole in the wall New York-style Chinese. Edible Prozac! Okay, sure there are those places where you take one look and go «There will be a bandaid in this» and other places like«There will be a bandaid in this and I will eat it because it’s just that good.» This is just that good. I had heard about it on the radio of all places, and with the #1 in the name, screw it, I’m in. Normally wouldn’t hit this place up, but as it’s not too far off my commute, on an early day doesn’t really make it that bad. And the commute back to my place was only 10 minutes. So typical combo steamer tray plates — X entrée, 1 side for $Y. What impressed me was the sides weren’t just fried rice or chow mein, but included chow fun, spicy fried rice, and spicy pad thai. Started with half and half yang chow and spicy pad thai. For the steamer entrees, multiple chicken dishes, multiple pork, multiple beef. Some more sweet, some more spicy. Went with the House Chicken(bourbon chicken) and while the guy tried to sell me on another chicken dish, had to get the spare ribs. Also two egg rolls. All of it was good, and it was huge enough to last me two dinners. Score! Also this place isn’t just take out — they do have a full service kitchen, so definitely order from the menu if you want something fresh. I don’t have much time left in San Jose, but may make another stop here.

I was really excited about giving this place 5 stars but I had to chew into this weird plastic thing(a lil bit harder than saran(sp?) wrap. My boyfriend was running errands while I was home busy with making things and he asked what I wanted to eat. Since the line at in n out was ridiculously long like usual, he texts me he’s gonna order from this place for the first time. He knows I LOVE. LOVE. trying pad thai from everywhere pretty much. They make it upon order arrival and customize it to your liking(for me: no peanuts and no beansprouts). The portions are huge!!! I have it pictured as half a portion and the other half was sitting in my own bowl(got leftovers for later lol). It has great flavor! not too salty, nor tomatoey at all. Its flavor reminds me of Nha Trang restaurant’s pad thai. I was really enjoying my food until THEBAD! At first I thought it was a shrimp shell until my tongue started to unravel it and it was a flat sheet of plastic :(totally ruined my meal. I was so upset so I turn to my boyfriend and pouted. I’m really upset since I thought I found an even closer place for pad thai, but now I’m just a lil’ bit iffy about it :(My boyfriend will be returning(even though he’s upset that the lady referred chow fun to him AFTER he had ordered his combo). He want to try the other options and such. Maybe I will or maybe I won’t return, it’s up in the air(fingers crossed it’ll never happen again!)

Admittedly I didn’t have high expectations for this take-out, but their food was surprisingly decent. I told the girl behind the counter it was my first time there, and she was very welcoming in asking if I’d like to sample anything. Opting for the salt and pepper spareribs, I found them to be fresh and crispy, as many Unilocalers have endorsed, but it was a bit too salty for me so I passed. I asked if they have cream cheese wontons and was told they can make some for me(6 pieces for $ 5.50). I was tired, not wanting to wait, and knew I couldn’t finish an entire order so I declined. Eventually I ended up getting an order of chow mein and orange chicken to-go, which I came to regret at home. The chow mein is your standard thin spaghetti noodles, which surprisingly wasn’t too oily but tasted like it’s been sitting out there for 2 – 3 days. The orange chicken was dry and chewy, which again tasted like it’s from a leftover batch. It’s unfortunate that I truly wanted to give them a higher rating, as the employees here were really warm and welcoming. Unfortunately their food isn’t up to par with their service. Perhaps I ordered the wrong items. I’ll be willing to give them another chance, opting for made-to-order dishes next time. Parking is in a very small lot in front of the shop. It’s nice that there are two spaces reserved for #1 Chinese Kitchen customers.
