Boyfriend ordered here at 8:50 for $ 4 delivery and made it to our house by 9:30. Id say that’s quick service, food was decent, we got the walnut prawns, mixed veggies, Mongolian beef, and some chow mein. Walnut prawns were big and yummy but everything else was okay. A little pricey for the small amount you get hence the 3 stars. But I’d say if I had to order here again I would but maybe change up my dishes!

This place is really nostalgic for me since I’ve been coming here pretty much since I was born. I went for lunch just last week and the owner and waitress(who have been there since I can remember) still remember my dad and greet him by his first name. And he probably only goes like a handful of times a year. It’s nice to go to a place where the employees know you and are happy to see you when you come in. The food isn’t what I would consider authentic Chinese food. But it’s good Americanized Cantonese food. I love that everything still tastes the same as I was growing up. My favorite dish is the chow fun, but I also like the won ton soup and shrimp with lobster sauce. The house special beef we got last week was pretty good too. This place also serves drinks and appetizers late at night so might be a cool place to grab food after a night out! Will have to try it sometime!

Our family’s new place for take out! We normally go to a place a block or so away — even though their service is extremely slow and take out can take up to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Today, they would not answer their phone so we found Pearl River. Food ready in 15 minutes — actually the time quoted and was comparable to that restaurant a block or so away. What we ordered was just as good. The added plus is we now won’t have to wait the extra 40 – 45 minutes that we sometimes«lived with» with the other place.

I’ve lived near this place for almost 10 years now, and I never fail to order it about once a year forgetting how mediocre the food is. Though they have good deals for family meal packages, and single meals, I don’t know that it’s worth even that price. Out of what I’ve eaten, their fried rice is pretty decently seasoned. The spring rolls are ok also, but come with a really syrupy, goopy sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The egg rolls are really like Chinese fried burritos, they’re so giant. Sweet and sour prawns are coated in the same sauce, and wrapped with a really thick kind of dough. Not sure how to describe it, but they end up looking like little chicken wings. Last time I had the shrimp I just started taking the actual shrimps out of their thick coating, only to find that they were not cleaned or very well at all with lots of vein left. As harmless as that is, it’s pretty unappetizing. The egg flower soup I had was pretty bland, but was the best item out of the other food I ordered. Problem was that there were a few flakes of thin blue plastic film flaring around the surface. Yum! In another year I’ll probably forget how little I like the food here, and order it again to try and satisfy my Chinese food craving, only to be disappointed again.

The best Chinese food in San Jose! I’ve had delivery and take out, and the food is always hot and delicious! I am definitely a loyal customer of Pearl River Chinese Restaurant on Blossom Hill Road!

The first time we ordered Chinese food online from here we were nothing less than impressed. My husband is allergic to seafood but loves Chinese food. We specified on the items he was going to eat that there was a seafood allergy and when he got to the restaurant to pick up the food the chef bagged all the food in front of him and told him he personally prepared all of the items and made sure that there was no seafood in any of them. Tonight was a different story. My husband loves fried rice so we ordered the combination fried rice for him, specifying that he was allergic to seafood. He picked up the food and brought it home and when he dumped the food out on his plate there was shrimp in the fried rice. We immediately called the restaurant and they offered to deliver us the proper fried rice. Okay, fine. We waited 45 minutes for them to deliver new rice and when we got it back up to the apartment, THEREWASSHRIMPINITAGAIN. You would think if you were going out of your way to deliver food which was messed up then you would actually try to take care that the food is correct. Very disappointed and my husband ended up heating up a can of chili for dinner.

AVOID this restaurant at all cost… They’ve been in the business for what… 30 some years… and I know they take pride in that. I have come here several times now because of their hot and sour soup. The staff is just always too slow and just give you the impression that people should be thankful that Pearl River is serving their food. I called in my order on a Saturday at 1pm… The girl who took my order said 15 minutes. But it took 45 minutes for her to hand me my order. All the time looking like she don’t care if we have to wait. I mean, at least you could pretend to look apologetic because you know customers are waiting. But she just got that«oh well» look… And it’s not like they are busy, the place is empty… The House Special beef was cold, it seemed like it was cooked 3 times and was just warmed in the microwave oven. The salt and pepper calamari… is very salty! and it’s supposed to be crispy but it’s cold. I know I ordered salt and pepper calamari… but not very SALTY calamari… looks like they just tossed a handful of salt in that calamari! The only saving grace is the hot and sour soup, as always. It’s sad to leave a negative feedback because I like Chinese food… but if they deserve it, then they have to get it. Maybe I will try their location at Lincoln but I will definitely not come back to this location! You’re lucky I gave you 1 star… this place deserves a big 0.

Grew up on this food when I was a child. My first time back as adult and still held up to most of my expectations. Wor won ton soup is still as fresh as I remember and so was the Peking style spare ribs. I used to really love their prawns with lobster sauce and while I liked it this time around, another person who isn’t particularly into garlic may not enjoy it as much. Overall food and service was really good.

Blah. Not good. Took too long, and the meat was really tough and chewy. Food arrived cold, which makes sense since out took 1.5 hrs to be delivered. Won’t be ordering from here again

There aren’t a lot of places that deliver near me, so I was super disappointed with how bad this food tasted. It’s not terribly hard to make good tofu and veggie mix. It was bland and mushy. We also got a shrimp dish that was just as tasteless. Advertised as being in a sauce, but sauce was basically just water with little bits of garlic floating in it. After eating I instantly felt ill. I’d give 0 stars if I could. Super disappointed. Feel really ripped off, for what I paid the quality was terrible.

I really don’t want to give this place a bad review but I can’t help that I’ve had a couple bad experiences with them so far. The most recent was a few minutes ago, I called 5 minutes before 3pm and was put on hold right away. After being on hold for 10 minutes, I hung up and tried calling again. The phone recording says that their hours for Saturday(today) are lunch until 3pm and dinner from 4pm on. The person who picked up the phone couldn’t at least tell me this information???( Unilocal info as well as their website as shown on my mobile phone says they are open today from 11 – 9:30 which I learned is inaccurate). Who knows how long I would have been on hold, he could have taken my order if they did want to make money or at least LETMEKNOWTHEYAREABOUTTOCLOSE. How difficult is it? My husband and I order from this place every couple months or so and one time, I placed an order during the week at 4pm for delivery. Come 6pm and having called them 3 times to follow up with my order, they said we should have our food shortly. We were a bit on the fence about the food since it had been 2 hours since I ordered– when was it made and how long has it been sitting in the car? I started heating up a frozen meal since I was tired of waiting– that’s how long it was!!! When the driver got here, we told him we didn’t want the food anymore and he let us know it was still hot so we just took it. I’m very disappointed because we order from here quite frequently and to be treated in such a way is bs. 2 stars because the food is decent– pretty good and pretty much the only Chinese that delivers to our house. Not 100% sure if I’ll ever come here again, although I might in desperation.

They’re off my list now — they failed their health inspection this year, and here’s one of the most frightening reasons from the inspector: «Inspector Observations: Numerous rodent droppings noted in kitchen and kitchen food storeroom, including on top of sealed food bins and cans of food.» Lots of other scary things in that inspection. They fixed them so they were allowed to reopen but I can’t go to a place that would allow such conditions to exist. Ugh. We had eaten there the week before this inspection…

Was happy to find a Chinese restaurant that delivered by my house but the food just wasn’t very tasty /well prepared. We had a craving for American Chinese food, so here’s what we ordered. — Kung pao chicken, sauce was pretty bland not much depth or umami. — Foo yung,(egg foo yung), they prepare their egg foo yung in disk form, like 3 little disks, unfortunately they were cooked a little too long and tasted burnt /tough. — Wonton soup, your basic wonton soup — Fried wontons, just fried wonton skin strips no filling… The delivery man was friendly, hopefully they put more effort into their food going forward.

I don’t recommend the calamari unless you like to eat rubber bands. The coating was so thick and flavorless. All you taste is flour and some of the chunks were nothing but dough. The tenticles are always my favorite part but not a one was to be found.

Family Plan B is a great deal. It filled up 5 of us no problem. It comes with Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Walnut Shrimp, Fried Rice, and Chow Mein. You save about $ 8 if you were to add them up individually. Walnut Shrimp was hot and crisp. Sauce wasn’t too sweet. Broccoli Beef was tender. It was a little heavy on sauce and I like my broccoli al dente but it was still good. Orange chicken was perfect. Crispy tender and the sauce was the perfect spicy sweet. Vegetable fried rice was a little heavy on mushrooms and water chestnuts but my vegetarian wife loved it. Vegetable chow mein was good. Noodles were the right amount of tender and the sauce wasn’t too heavy. Once again my vegetarian wife loved it. We will definitely come again.

Came here the day after Thanksgiving. It was about 6pm and no one was eating inside. However, they had a lot of to go orders. The food was good, nothing to rave about. Typical Chinese food. Portion size was average. Not a fan of their fried rice. Honey walnut prawns were good. The seafood plate was good stir fry. Not many patrons in the restaurant and we had to fight off an obnoxious fly throughout our meal. The server was very nice. Nothing else to note, about this quick and uneventful experience. I will be going to other Chinese restaurants to dine.
